  1. On Monday February 27th, 2012, WikiLeaks began publishing The Global Intelligence Files, over five million e-mails from the Texas headquartered "global intelligence" company Stratfor. The e-mails date between July 2004 and late December 2011. They reveal the inner workings of a company that fronts as an intelligence publisher, but provides confidential intelligence services to large corporations, such as Bhopal's Dow Chemical Co., Lockheed Martin, Northrop Grumman, Raytheon and government agencies, including the US Department of Homeland Security, the US Marines and the US Defence Intelligence Agency. The emails show Stratfor's web of informers, pay-off structure, payment laundering techniques and psychological methods.

  10. Sending straight to alpha because no WO on. Replying to this thread
  11. because it's in reference to the bias we should be aware of from Ma'an
  12. News Agency, whose story Mikey just pasted in response to the insight on
  13. what's happening at Pal camps in Lebanon. Source is new, just met him on
  14. my trip. He's a journalist who works for Ma'an. Insight below is his
  15. response to my questions about wtf his boss was saying in the article I
  16. pasted below the insight ('Palestinian editor says Jerusalem will be
  17. liberated with "military honor"'):
  18.
  19. Nasser [Ma'an editor in chief Nasr al-Lahham] is the man but he's a nut.
  20. I know him well. Israelis know him too, he used to report from the
  21. Knesset and interviewed I think their president once at his home.
  22. His point here, seems to me, is Abbas' strategy of building institutions
  23. and restoring security, rather than violently resisting, is key to
  24. liberating Palestine. He's telling the recruits they're just as
  25. important and valuable as Hezbollah and don't let anyone tell you
  26. otherwise
  27. Here's the inside scoop on Nasser and the key to understanding how Maan
  28. remains the only truly independent news source in Palestine: He's a
  29. decades long supporter of the Popular Front, was president of the PFLP
  30. at Bethlehem Univ. and went to jail six years for it.
  31. As a PFLP supporter, he detests organized religion and its mixing in
  32. politics (Hamas) just as much as he hates
  33. materialism/capitalism/corruption (Fatah). (On that second point, he's
  34. probably the most beloved media personality in the country and has huge
  35. influence, yet he never thought to move out of the refugee camp where he
  36. was born. Badass.)
  37. The other important thing to know about Nasser, more important than
  38. anything else I just mentioned, is that he is batshit insane. Really do
  39. love the guy but something is off up there, trust me. He will spout out
  40. the craziest theories every once in a while **
  41. ----------------------------------------
  42.
  43. Palestinian editor says Jerusalem will be liberated with "military
  44. honor"
  45.
  46. Ma'an News Agency reports at 0429 gmt that its editor in chief Nasr
  47. al-Lahham, delivered a speech to a group of 600 Palestinian security
  48. personnel at Jericho's Palestinian Academy for Security Sciences, also
  49. known as Al-Istiqlal University. The event was attended by several
  50. high-ranking security figures such as Tawfiq al-Tirawi, head of the
  51. university board of management, and Nayif Jaradat, the academy's acting
  52. president.
  53.
  54. The report says that Al-Lahham "spoke about the occupation and how most
  55. of the young Jewish people do not know the meaning of the word
  56. occupation, because they have been brainwashed by the Israeli military
  57. and media establishments."
  58.
  59. He praises Palestinian [National] Authority (PNA) President Mahmud
  60. Abbas, and likens him to Palestinian figures such as Yasir Arafat and
  61. Khalid Mish'al, explaining that "all of them refused to give up on any
  62. right."
  63.
  64. Al-Lahham calls for an end to the criticism of Palestinians via
  65. satellite television and urges the media to respect the "conscience of
  66. the Palestinian youth," adding that such criticism is tantamount to
  67. "criticizing a whole generation's will of resistance and defiance." He
  68. continues: "You are the future. I stand before you, and I see no
  69. difference between you and Hezbollah fighters in south Lebanon. They
  70. liberated their homeland and you will liberate Jerusalem, God willing."
  71. He concludes his speech by saying "I swear in the pure blood of your
  72. father that we will pray in Jerusalem and you will liberate it with your
  73. military honour."

  90. Bethlehem, 15 December (Ma'an) - Munir al-Maqdah, commander of the Fatah
  91. movement's general headquarters in Lebanon, denied that Palestinian
  92. forces in the Ayn al-Hulwah refugee camp in south Lebanon are planning
  93. to eliminate operatives from the Jund al-Sham and Jaysh al-Islam
  94. organizations. These organizations have been accused of being behind the
  95. assassination of 2nd lieutenant Ashraf al-Qadiri, escort of Mahmud Isa,
  96. also known as Al-Linu, commander of the Palestinian Armed Struggle.
  97.
  98. Al-Maqdah told Ma'an's radio network that the political leadership in
  99. Ayn al-Hulwah has set up a committee to investigate the assassination,
  100. but not to eliminate any particular operative or individual. He said
  101. that no one is untouchable, no matter what happens, and that anyone
  102. whose name is called should immediately head to the special committee in
  103. the camp, and if that person is found guilty, he will be turned over to
  104. the Lebanese army.
  105.
  106. Al-Maqdah said "there are no operatives from Fatah al-Islam or Jund
  107. al-Sham in the camp, and this was an isolated incident." He added that
  108. there are ongoing meetings in the camp "because there are people who
  109. want to spark clashes in the camps, both internally and with their
  110. neighbours, and undermine the stability and security in the camps."
  111.
  112. Asked about the reconciliation and the latest meeting between
  113. Palestinian President Mahmud Abbas and HAMAS Political Bureau chief
  114. Khalid Mish'al in Cairo, Al-Maqdah said this was a positive step towards
  115. the future Palestinian state with Jerusalem as its capital. He said the
  116. reconciliation is a Palestinian demand and a force to confront Israel
  117. with, and expressed hope that this demand will be fully and clearly
  118. realized.

  136.
  137. A Fatah official has accused members of the militant group Jund
  138. al-Sham of assassinating the bodyguard of Palestinian Armed Struggle
  139. chief Mahmoud Issa, who goes by the nom de guerre of al-Lino.
  140.
  141. The official, who refused to be identified, told al-Liwaa daily
  142. published Thursday that a Jund al-Sham militant opened fire on
  143. 28-year-old Ashraf al-Qaderi at the Palestinian refugee camp of Ain
  144. el-Hilweh on Wednesday, killing him instantly.
  145.
  146. Cautious calm prevailed on Thursday in the camp that lies near the
  147. southern port city of Sidon.
  148.
  149. But the official said that the remaining members of Jund al-Sham are
  150. seeking to create tension after several security incidents, bombings
  151. and shootings at the camp.
  152.
  153. He added that several members of the militant group had been
  154. arrested by the Palestinian Armed Struggle and handed over to
  155. Lebanese authorities.
  156.
  157. The official hinted that al-Qaderi's killing was aimed at taking
  158. vengeance at the arrests.

  168.
  169. The bodyguard of a top Palestinian commander was shot dead on
  170. Wednesday in a refugee camp in southern Lebanon, a local official
  171. said.
  172.
  173. "At around 10:00 p.m., a masked gunman shot and killed Ashraf Qadiri
  174. at his shop here in the Ain al-Hilweh camp," said Munir Maqdah, in
  175. charge of security at the camp near the southern coastal city of
  176. Saida.
  177.
  178. Qadiri was a bodyguard for Mohammed Abdel Hamid Issa, alias
  179. "Al-Lino," the head of Palestinian party Fatah's police force in Ain
  180. al-Hilweh.
  181.
  182. Maqdah said Fatah forces had gone on alert and deployed throughout
  183. the camp, adding that the shooter had not yet been identified.
  184.
  185. Wednesday's shooting was the second such incident this week
  186. targeting one of Issa's bodyguards.
  187.
  188. Ain al-Helweh, the largest Palestinian camp in the country, is home
  189. to about 50,000 refugees and is known to harbor extremists and
  190. fugitives.
  191.
  192. By long-standing convention, the Lebanese army does not enter the
  193. country's 12 refugee camps, leaving security inside to the
  194. Palestinians themselves.
  195.
  196. The United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestinian refugees
  197. (UNRWA) estimates that some 425,000 Palestinian refugees are living
  198. in Lebanon, a country with a population of four million.
  199.
  200. Others, however, estimate the number to be closer to 250,000.

  210. fighting within Lebanon and Syria, not towards Israel (though they

  231.
  232. the PA has damning evidence about the intention of the Syrian
  233. regime to cause trouble in Palestinian refugee camps in Lebanon.
  234. Dozens of Syrian men have in recent weeks moved into major camps
  235. such as Ain al-Hilwa, Sabra & Shatila, al-Biddawi and al-Burj
  236. al-Shimali. The Syrians appear bent of exploding the security
  237. situation in the camps should the security situation in Syria go
  238. out of control. This will be part of the Syrian regime's efforts
  239. to hold Lebanon hostage and to use it in order to negotiate a deal
  240. with the West.
  241.
  242. The Syrians believe that the French are leading the Western
  243. efforts to isolate the Syrian regime. They are also aware that the
  244. French feel they have a moral and historical responsibility
  245. towards Lebanon. Therefore, the Syrians seem to want to use
  246. Lebanon to stop the French diplomatic drive against the regime in
  247. Damascus. The Syrians arriving into camps in Lebanon belong to
  248. al-Saeqa Palestinian guerrilla movement, which is largely seen as
  249. an extention of the Syrian army intelligence.
