- >You collapse onto the dirt
- >"C'mon Anon, now's not the time for that!"
- >You wave at Applejack
- >She always had more stamina than you
- >She's running through the field in celebration
- >You lean back on your arms and admire the tidy little cottage
- >It had taken every last bit you and her had
- >And most of the last six months
- >But you were finished, finally finished
- >It was small, just the essentials
- >But it was place to call home
- >Just for the two of you
- >And now that you think about it, that's not even what you needed
- >You look to your partner, she smiles back at you
- >That smile...
- >That's all you cared about
- >All you ever desired
- >From today until the day she'd be taken from you, or you from her
- >Nothing looked as beautiful
- >Your gaze shifts to the endless sky
- >The sun's brilliant, just as Celestia always made it
- >There's not a cloud to be seen
- >But why is it raining?
- >You can't even see straight through the tears
- >Applejack rushes over as soon as she notices
- >"What's wrong, Anon?"
- >Her voice is like a saxaphone
- >Not sophisticated, haughty or rigid
- >But brutally geniune
- >With a soul that exuded deep concern in smooth tones
- >You do your best to smile, but it comes out twisted by your crying
- "What is it you want most, Applejack? Where does your ambition lie?"
- >You can tell the question confused her a bit, but she answers nonetheless
- >"Well, Anon, I once wanted ta run the best farm in Equestria."
- >"Then I wanted to be the best sister in Equestria."
- >"And then I met you."
- >She nuzzles your shoulder and you pull her close
- >The scent of her mane fills your nostrils
- >The smell of work, tears, and apples
- "Let me guess, then you wanted to be the best wife in Equestria?"
- >Shifting her head, she moves in closer, desperate for your touch
- >Just as you are for hers
- >"No."
- >"I just wanted ta make you smile."
- >It only rained harder
- >You're lying on the ground, staring up at the sky
- >Applejack is next to you, resting her head on your chest
- "Remember when we met?"
- >She turns to you and grins
- >"Of course."
- "My first day in Equestria."
- >"An' you showed up in one o' my apple trees!"
- >You close your eyes, picturing the memory in your mind
- >You can recall it as clearly as if it were yesterday
- >"I bucked the tree and you fell straight outta it. Just about hit me!"
- >Her recollection just about makes you laugh
- >You tip her stenson over her eyes, hiding that cocky smile underneath it
- >"And you remember the first thing I said ta you?"
- >Nodding, you let out a long sigh
- "Ain't never seen an apple like that before."
- >Both of you are in stitches
- >"Darn right I hadn't!" she manages to say through the laughter
- >It didn't seem like so long ago that you met
- >And here you are, closer than peas in a pod
- >You two know each other better than a tree know its roots
- >Or Applejack knows her hat
- >But what if you'd never come here?
- >What if you'd never met?
- >Worry creeps its way onto your face as you look over at Applejack, who's busy readjusting her hat
- >You're about to put your fears to words when you realize
- >Your life never could have turned out any other way
- >Because you and Applejack were connected at the soul
- >And silly things like circumstance never could have stood in the way
- >A ant would have sooner stopped a tsunami
- >You both lay back and enjoy the atmosphere for a while longer
- >Words didn't fit in this space
- >Only emotion
- >For the briefest of moments, you wondered what was going through Applejack's head
- >But you knew. How could you not?
- >The thought brought back your grin
- >You point to the sky and trace out Applejack's outline
- >The sturdy legs,
- >Powerful gaze,
- >Shapely flank,
- >Gorgeous hair,
- >Radiant smile
- >You could do it with your eyes closed
- >You feel a hoof touch your outstretched arm
- >Applejack has moved her head next to yours
- >Her breath is heavy on your cheek
- >You turn to her, look deep into those stunning green eyes
- >And you kiss
- >An honest kiss, a loving kiss, a delicate kiss
- >You hold it for what seems like forever
- >Slowly, you pull away, always keeping your gaze locked on her eyes
- >"Let's go inside."
- >You nod, ready to break in your new cottage
- >Both of you stand up and walk towards the front door, speaking nothing further
- >Words seemed so silly when you knew what she was thinking
- >Just as she knew your thoughts
- >Because they were the exact same thing
