  1. >>The sun has been up for a while. For once, you are up before Twilight
  2. >>And you remember everything that you remembered the day before
  3. >>Your plan is working, to your knowledge. Celestia has no sway over your mind now
  4. >>“Anon? Were you here all night?”
  5. >>You pretend that you didn't notice
  6. Hm? Oh, yes. I must have been.
  7. >>Spike follows soon after Twilight, and goes about his routine of getting the paper
  8. >>Twilight looks more concerned than she did last night
  9. >>She is observant. She doesn't tell you, but she sees that the lantern is out. She knows you must have put it out when the sun came up
  10. >>You're lying to her
  11. >>“Well, you might as well stay for breakfast.”
  12. >>As poor of a conman as you evidently are, she is worse. You sense that she knows something's up
  13. >>“Want the usual, Anon?”
  14. There anything special to keep you awake longer?
  15. >>She recoils
  16. >>“Huh?”
  17. >>She doesn't ask that sweetly. She asks it aggressively
  18. The usual is... fine.
  19. >>Spike comes back in through the front door, already reading the paper.
  20. >>“Whoa. Man, holy cow. Check this out.”
  21. >>He holds up the paper, which is overcome by a violet aurora and dragged through the air over to Twilight
  22. >>Her eyes go wide as saucers
  23. >>“Oh, my”
  24. >>You lower your book
  25. What?
  26. >>“Late last night a Diamond Dog was admitted to Ponyville hospital and pronounced dead just minutes after. They say it was blunt trauma to the head.”
  27. >>Spike scratches his head
  28. >>“What was a Diamond Dog doing in Ponyville?”
  29. >>Twilight eyes the article suspiciously
  30.
  31. >>“Nopony can actually reach up to a Diamond Dog's head like that.”
  32. >>She looks over the picture included with the article and notices a dent in the armor
  33. >>She withholds a gasp and magically tosses the paper back to Spike
  34. >>Her brows furrow. Twilight is taking charge. You can hear her hooves clop against the ground as she walks up to you.
  35. >>“Anon, let me see your hand.”
  36. >>You look to her, your own brows furrowed
  37. >>“Anon...”
  38. You're nuts.
  39. >>“Anonymous, I swear to Celestia!”
  40. >>She beats a hoof against the ground
  41. I don't have to put up with this
  42. >>You get up to leave
  43. >>“Spike!”
  44. >>Spike immediately blocks the door way
  45. >>As if he could actually stop you
  46. >>“I swear, Anon, if you don't tell me what's going on...”
  47. >>You hold your wounded fist in your opposite hand and move to the steps
  48. >>The window by the beds is big enough for you, and the fall won't kill you
  49. >>“Okay, mister. That is IT!”
  50. >>Her horn glows
  51. >>You can't even get two steps up before an arcane cloud overtakes you and you are lifted off your feet
  52. You are a mad mare! You hear me, Twilight?! I'm going to SUE you!
  53. >>Twilight rolls her eyes and drops you on the floor
  54. >>You fall in a heap
  55. >>Before you can recover, she inspects your hand. Dried blood on the knuckles, visible scrapes
  56. >>“The black eye, the Diamond Dog, and now your hand?”
  57. >>She grips you in an aura of magic again and throws you into a chair, aggressively
  58.
  59. >>She marches up to you and leans in
  60. >>“You're going to tell me what's going on RIGHT NOW, Mister!”
  61. >>Twilight has been like a big sister to you. Always the responsible one, always the one looking out for you
  62. >>She is speaking out of friendship, not hatred
  63. >>But still, you find it difficult to tell her
  64. >>You didn't even trust this information with your bro
  65. I killed him?
  66. >>There's a pause
  67. Did I really kill him?
  68. >>The severity of the situation washes over you as you sit in the seat
  69. >>Twilight looks on you with despair and wanting to understand
  70. >>“Uh... I better get breakfast going”
  71. >>Spike makes his way into the kitchen
  72. >>That spike; doesn't give zero fucks unless it's about Rarity
  73. >>“Anon, please, you need to tell me what happened. Otherwise I have to assume the worst.”
  74. >>You think out loud, one hand clenched to your chest and the other gripping your hair
  75. Oh, Celestia
  76. >>You still recognize no other God, no other belief
  77. Oh, Celestia
  78. >>You repeat before gulping
  79. It's hard, Twilight
  80. I can't buck apples
  81. I can't sew
  82. I can't make art
  83. ...Can't cook, can't haul, I am not a doctor. I can't use magic. I can't do anything you and your friends can do
  84. >>She remains silent
  85. ...But I can... I, uh...
  86. >>Your foot starts to tap the floor, making a fast rhythm
  87. >>Twilight can tell you feel against the wall, she can tell you don't want to talk
  88. >>“Anon...”
  89. I know, I know.
  90.
  91. >>If word gets out, kiss your livelihood good-bye
  92. >>You're a murderer. You won't get away from this Scott free.
  93. I'm... I joined an underground fight circuit. A few seasons back, Dash and I were in a bar. And there were these three guys that tried to pick her up. I tried to tell them that she was with me, and they kept pushing me, and pushing. I found out I was good at fighting.
  94. >>She gasped and took a step away from you
  95. Oh, Celestia, Twilight; you have to believe me!
  96. >>You start tearing up
  97. >>You refuse to do this
  98. >>No, no crying
  99. >>Your nose goes stiff
  100. >>The tear ducts won't listen to you
  101. I tried real hard not to kill anyone. Or even break anything. I tried really hard to keep it clean.
  102. >>Well, there it goes. A tear runs down the inside of your cheek
  103. You have to understand. I needed the money. I had to live.
  104. >>This is all Celestia's fault
  105. >>Her mind rape drove you to the insanity
  106. >>You remember last night like it was happening right now. How you were out ranged, but you slipped to the inside
  107. I just...
  108. >>You start thinking out loud
  109. I hit him... and then I hit him again, and I couldn't stop. Again, and again, and then he started bleeding, but I couldn't stop
  110. >>She doesn't know how to handle this and takes a step further back
  111. There was
  112. >>You squeak
  113. >>You are NOT this kind of man
  114. >>You do NOT cry
  115. >>You work hard, you do as you are told. You have no reason to be ashamed
  116. >>But the tears have already stained her floor
  117.
  118. There was NOTHING else I could do!
  119. >>“That's not true! You helped those people move last week! And what about all those times you took consignments to stock shelves?”
  120. >>You dismiss her with a wave before covering your face with your hands
  121. I just do that to supplement the fight money. It doesn't last until the next season starts up.
  122. >>You can no longer hold it back, and you hit the point where you can no longer talk straight
  123. >>You are ashamed
  124. >>Ashamed that you're crying in front of a pony
  125. >>Ashamed that spike can hear you in the next room
  126. >>Ashamed that you killed someone
  127. Celestia, have mercy on my soul
  128. >>You manage to choke out that phrase
  129. >>“I'm not sure if she will, Anon.”
  130. >>“Spike, take a letter.”
