  1. >>What the hell was Celestia doing?
  2. >>You were all aboard for this. It was her gift.
  3. >>To save you from your old life at the measly price of your humanity
  4. >>Your friends could not see it, but these days you were nothing more than an automaton of flesh and bone
  5. >>It gets you what you want, sure.
  6. >>You can't remember a whole lot of your old life
  7. >>But what Celestia allowed you to relive was so horrible that, whatever it was, you were willing to submit to her will in exchange for not having to endure it
  8. >>You didn't have the strength, and you wouldn't have the strength to face the three dimensional world of bland colors and the economic decay of matter if you had a million years with which to prepare
  9. >>Celestia didn't have to put this idea in your head. Not this time.
  10. >>She didn't even have to force nightmares anymore
  11. >>She was content to allow your own fear to do the work for her
  12. >>All she needed to do was occasionally sensor your memories
  13. >>But you were content to allow her. You owed it to her
  14. >>She was your savior, worthy of your unconditional love and worship
  15. >>But today, Celestia might have been taking notes
  16. >>Today, there was doubt
  17.
  18. >>You looked to your left, seeing your best bro in her sorry state
  19. >>She was just as wrecked as you were, if not more so
  20. >>Celestia's light was only just now beginning to overtake Luna's as the morning dawned
  21. >>It was strange. More so than ever, she looked like an angel
  22. >>A little cyan, quadrupedal cherub
  23. >>Both of you being in hospital beds really, really sucked
  24.
  25. >>You're the only one who should be
  26. >>But then,if she hadn't interfered, you wouldn't even be in a hospital bed
  27. >>You'd be dead
  28. >>Should you complain? You are torn.
  29. >>Pain racked your chest once more, and it soon spread to your head
  30. >>You wince
  31. >>You hiss
  32. >>But you can't take your eyes off of Rainbow, who lay there in dreamless sleep and has since you first arrived
  33. >>You hoped against hope that she wasn't in some sort of long term coma
  34. >>You pull your sheets up around you and lay back in your less-than-comfortable bed, wondering just how they managed to get a human sized frame and mattress for you on such short notice
  35.
  36. >>An hour later you are alerted
  37. >>Dash writhes
  38. >>She turns
  39. >>You are very familiar with unconsciousness at this point. You have visited that world so many times in what must have been two, maybe three months
  40. >>You were prepared when Dash regained her functionality
  41. >>“Bwaha! Anon!”
  42. Shhh
  43. >>“-But?!”
  44. Shhh
  45. >>She calmed down, struggling to open her eyes
  46. We're fine
  47. >>Dash cringes in pain as she feels things that you cannot even comprehend going through her pony body
  48. >>“Anon,”
  49. >>She is somewhat more mouthy than you. Always has been.
  50. >>Even in the thralls of unimaginable pain, she persists
  51. >>“Anon, are you...?”
  52. I'm fine, Rainbow.
  53. >>Just now does she take you in, leaning out of her bed somewhat to get a look at you through creased eyes
  54. >>“Thank Celestia”
  55. >>You aren't sure just how much of this Celestia had planned for you
  56. >>You smiled at her, trying to ease her mind
  57. Thank you.
  58.
  59. >>You place emphasis on the word 'you.'
  60. >>Rainbow lays back in her bed
  61. >>“But how did we...?”
  62. Applejack, apparently.
  63. >>Rainbow cringed and turned her head to look at you
  64. Supposedly she didn't do anything. Twilight was here when I woke up and explained it all.
  65. >>You give Rainbow a sideways glare
  66. You shouldn't have followed me like that.
  67. >>Rainbow made a face
  68. >>“Someone has to save your butt! You get in so much trouble.”
  69. >>You look down to your sheets and try to come up with an answer
  70. >>“Hey. I discovered you, remember? So I gotta protect ya.”
  71. >>You look to her again and stifle a chortle
  72. >>It hurts to laugh
  73. And I thank Celestia every day for it.
  74. >>“Yep! You're my little homo.”
  75. >>You cringe and grip your sheets in your fists
  76. ...Sapien. We've been over this
  77. >>Rainbow apparently had no trouble laughing
  78. >>“Bwa haha!”
  79. >>She snorted
  80. >>Her voice was immature, but it was cute
  81. >>She waved a hoof down at you
  82. >>“I just like seeing how you react. It's funny!”
  83. >>Rainbow is a troll, now. Nice.
  84. >>You smile at her and chuckle, infected by her positive attitude
  85. >>You were genuinely happier when she was around. More so than any of the others.
  86. >>Rainbow was there to show you Ponyville
  87. >>She was there to deflect the first rape attempts without a hitch
  88. >>She was there to stand between you and Celestia when she was intent on banishing you
  89. >>And now she was in hospice rags because she is so loyal
  90. >>Because she is such a bro
  91. >>“You won't ever get rid of me, Anon”
  92. You look at her for a moment
  93. >>“No matter where you go, no matter what you do, I will always”
  94. >>“Always”
  95. >>“Have your back”
  96. >>She shouldn't say that
  97. >>She doesn't know the extent of your sins
  98.
  99. >>An hour later, you two are feasting on the hospital food served for breakfast
  100. >>It sucks
  101. >>And it isn't that fucking chicken
  102. >>But it's food all the same
  103. >>And the water is good
  104. >>You have a hard time eating, anything having to do with your torso brings you pain
  105. >>But you are so hungry
  106. >>Always so hungry
  107. >>The last thing you had to eat was a salad Fluttershy made for you a day and a half ago
  108. >>...Why did that chicken have to be Fluttershy's?
  109. >>Before you two were finished with your meals, a nurse escorted Pinkie Pie and Rarity into the room
  110. >>Pinkie was bouncing in her step, as usual
  111. >>Rarity had a genuine look of concern
  112. >>They must have been here for Rainbow; you hardly know these two
  113. >>Very little interaction after that first few days
  114. >>You remain silent and eat your food while Rarity tends to Rainbow, asking just what happened
  115. >>But you lost sight of Pinkie
  116. >>Good Celestia
  117. >>“Hi!”
  118. >>She pops out from above you, her neck stretching down so she can look you right in the eyes
  119. DJUS!
  120. >>You jump in your seat, which causes you insane pain
  121. Awh-ow-ow!
  122. Pinkie! Please
  123. >>She rises from the floor on the immediate left side of you
  124. >>“Oops! Sorry. Here, I brought you a present!”
  125. >>She hoofed a pink cupcake onto your table. You move your salad bowl.
  126. >>Celestia; you were so sick of salad.
  127. >>“It's a Pinkie Cake!”
  128. >>You excuse her ADHD
  129. Wow, Pinkie! Thank you, I don't know what...
  130.
  131. >>It suddenly air bursts into a cloud of confectionery cream and confetti
  132. >>You find yourself suddenly realizing that your physical well being is in danger with her proximity
  133. >>Your broken bones and braces would not withstand all this reactionary jumping forever
  134. >>“Oops, sorry! That was the one for when you get better”
  135. >>She explained, and then hoofed a second cake onto the little table in your lap
  136. >>“Bwahaha! Pinkie, you are SO random!”
  137. >>Rainbow spoke up and derpfaced
  138. Thanks, Pinkie
  139. >>You lift a hand
  140. >>Hesitation stays you
  141. >>But you smile and reach to her scalp, roughing up her pink main with a playful pat
  142. >>She beams a wide smile and hops in place
  143. >>“Hey, Anon, why don't you come to Sugarcube corner anymore?”
  144. >>As you wipe off the mess left by the previous gift, you recall how much Pinkie terrifies you
  145. >>How her little 'welcome wagon' knocked you unconscious
  146. You scare me.
  147. >>Pinkie falls silent and looks at you
  148. >>“Really?”
  149. Yes.
  150. >>She leans in and presses one eye against yours, beaming into your soul
  151. >>“...Really?”
  152. Yes.
  153. >>Your answer won't change, no matter how many times she asks
  154. >>She backs off and laughs in her shrill laugh
  155. >>“Well! There's only one way to take care of that!”
  156. >>There's that music again
  157. >>You slouch
  158. >>This shit happened with Fluttershy, too
  159. >>It grew louder, and louder
  160. >>Pinkie looked so happy with herself, and she opened her mouth and inhaled to start singing
  161. >>“Hey, Anon?”
  162. >>It all stopped, and I looked over Pinkie to Rainbow
  163. >>“...My word, dahling what ever were you doing with those ruffians?”
  164.
  165. >>You looked to your Cyan savior
  166. >>“I'll always have your back, Anon. But I want to know what happened.”
  167. >>You purse your lips and redirect your gaze to the cupcake Pinkie gave to you
  168. >>Yeah, Dash does have the right to know
  169. They were business associates of mine.
  170. >>Rarity cocks her head and her eyebrow
  171. It's not something I'm proud of.
  172. >>You were not usually a man of this many words. You did what had to be done, and that was that.
  173. >>Explaining yourself was hard
  174. >>“Anon...”
  175. >>Dash furrowed her eyebrows
  176. I know, I know
  177. >>You give a deep sigh
  178. >>They all glared at you intently
  179. Alright, this is what happened
  180.
  181. >>Later that night, after all the physical checkups, you and Dash were returned to your beds
  182. >>She was silent
  183. >>The silence persisted for a ridiculously long time
  184. >>Celestia's light gave way to Luna's
  185. >>You lay your head down, and after she thinks you've fallen asleep she takes up a book and starts flipping through the pages
  186. >>You wait for a few moments, gathering your courage
  187. Hey, Dash
  188. >>There's no answer
  189. >>You sit up on your elbows
  190. ...Dash?
  191. >>She gives you a sideways glance before returning to her book
  192. Come on, Dash. Let me at least say I'm...
  193. >>“That's Rainbow Dash, to you.”
  194. >>Silence falls, and you lay your head back down on the pillow
  195. >>Great. Just great.
  196.
  197. >>The next morning, the Doctors unwrap Rainbow's wounds and pronounce her free to go after two days in the Ponyville Hospice
  198. >>You, on the other hand?
  199. >>Well, human physiology isn't one of their strengths
  200. >>They need more time
  201. >>As Dash leaves her bed, she doesn't even look at you
  202. >>In fact, she goes about her positive, competitive 'can-do' nature like you never even existed
  203. >>This kills you
  204. >>“Thanks, Doc!”
  205. >>She trots out of your view without even so much as saying goodbye
  206. >>You are left, alone. The lights are dimmed by the nurse before she closes the door
  207. >>You are starting to realize that Celestia has plucked you from a life of hatred and damned you to an even worse fate
  208. >>There, you had no friends
  209. >>There, you at least had a job
  210. >>There, you had potential
  211. >>Here? You had friends, but now they all hate you
  212. >>Here? Your are poverty stricken
  213. >>Here? There is no redemption for what has transpired
  214. >>Dash, of all people. Dash! Has chosen to forsake you
  215. >>Twilight has as well
  216. >>And the others
  217. >>Can Celestia see your thoughts right now? Because if she could, she should be taking notes
  218. >>You were her little human
  219. >>And you are starting to doubt her intentions
