No longer alone [Princess]

I sat alone on the balcony overlooking the city beneath the stars. I felt alone then, as I waited for you there under the night sky. It was so quiet, and there was a chill in the air. Then I heard your footsteps, my Princess, coming to me at last. You said nothing as you sat beside me and still I felt alone, longing for your touch, not daring to extend my arm. Then, I felt the gentle tickle of your wing feathers brush along my arm, and as you pulled me closer to you I began to cry. In the soft embrace of your wing I leaned against you, burying my face in your neck. Why did I cry? I still can’t say, but you never even asked. With your magic you gently pushed me away, and used a handkerchief to dab away my tears. Finally, I found the courage to reach out. I stroked your neck and looked into your eyes. As my vision became obscured with more tears, I smiled and softly whispered, “Thank you.” I leaned into you again. With my arm around your shoulder, and your wing around mine, we sat for the next hour in silence, no longer alone.
