"Mummy, look!"
The tiny filly bounds up to her mother, a piece of paper clutched in her teeth. She's covered in paint.
"I did a painting!"
Her mother takes the picture. It's a crude painting of a violet-coloured Pegasus with a dark purple mane and purple eyes, standing in a green field.
"And who's this cute little pony?", she asks.
"It's me!", the filly happily says.
Her mother looks from the picture to her daughter's flank. Breaking out in a smile, she tells her, "It's missing a detail".
"This pony doesn't have her cutie mark."
The filly looks confused. "But I don't have a-"
She suddenly realises, and grins. She tries to look, but thanks to her being so messy, it's a little obscured by paint. "What is it? I can't see! Did I get my cutie mark in painting?"
Her mother takes a towel. "Maybe if we wipe all this paint off your flank we can see what's underneath."
Once the paint is gone, she says, puzzled, "Well, now... That's odd."
Impatient, the filly asks, "Is it a paintbrush? An easel? What?"
Her mother looks up.
 
"It's the stars..."
