“See over there? On the other side of the lake?”
“I... I think so.”
“That’s the mine that gets Arendelle most of its gold and silver.”
“Really?”
“Yup”
The couple laid back onto the sledge, the lake was largely deserted, save for the mine and dock on the opposite side. They could be out here for days and no one would find them. Wind rustled the needles in the trees, branches swayed and the clouds crawled their way across the sky. Anna slipped her arms around Kristoff, leaning her head on his shoulder.
“This is nice,” she said.
“Yeah… yeah it is.”
It was warm for spring. Kristoff put his arm behind his head, watching the few ships sail into and out of the small harbor across the lake. They’d be heading for the castle for the royal treasurer, or heading back with food, money, supplies. He closed his eyes and sighed and Anna gave him another little squeeze of a hug.
When his eyes opened again the sun was already setting. On one side the sky bled in orange and red. If he stared long enough he might have been able to convince himself he could see some green as well. On the other side of the horizon the sky was already bruising with blues and deep purples. Pin points of light were just starting to flutter into the sky.
And Anna was gone.
“Anna? Anna!” Kristoff pushed off the sledge, looking around. There was nowhere to go for miles, “Where’d you go? Anna!”
Maybe she just ran off to find a bush or something. Would she do that? Probably not. Out here did she have a choice? Not in the least.
Nothing to do but wait.
As soon as he’d had the thought Kristoff could hear twigs snapping and dirt crunching. He turned from the sledge, “Anna? Where we-“
It wasn’t Anna. Elsa stood in the center of the clearly, smiling sweetly. She was wearing the dress she had in her palace, and the ice almost made her glow in the light.
“Elsa? What are you doing here?”
She let out a giggle like icicles tinkling against each other and held out her hands to her sides, walking forward. As she did the diaphanous cloth of the sleeves seemed to melt away until the cape was caught by the wind pulling away from the queen and taking flight like a kite.
“Where’s Anna, what’s-“
She put her fingers to his lips and a ‘shh’ came from her pursed lips. Her delicate hand slid down to his chest and pushed him back. Kristoff fell to the hood of the sledge again, stupefied by what was happening. He opened his mouth to speak again, but as he did, Elsa advanced on him hips swaying and smiling coquettishly. As she did the rest of her dress began to steam and evaporate and sparkle in the fading light.
Before Kristoff could say anything the queen was laying atop him, unabashedly pressing her nakedness against him. She straddled him and took his head in her hands bringing the young man’s lips to her own. Without realizing it, Kristoff found his hands along her thighs, her back. When she pulled away and looked into his eyes with her own luminescent blues. Kristoff sighed, his breath fogging in the air, “E-Elsa.”
“Kristoff” she said, back breathily, kissing him again.
Anna’s arm slid off the desk, jerking her awake. She rubber her eyes and wiped her mouth of a thin line of spittle. She looked around curiously; she was in Elsa’s study.
“That was a strange dream…”
