- Randall Ezno
- Role:
- Randall Ezno provides Liara with the location of the “Barn” station, and provides Shepard and company with an in-depth perspective of Cerberus' changes that occured over the six months since the destruction of the Alpha Relay. Ezno saves Shepard from Kai Leng during the mission “Speak to Asari Politician”. He acts as a briefing officer for the “Shadow War”, and a radio consultant if Shepard does not choose Ezno as a squad-mate these missions. Randall can be one of the squad-mates used to track down Kai Leng on the Citadel.
- Recruitment:
- At the conclusion of the mission “Speak to Asari Politician”, Shepard finds himself defeated by Kai Leng. Just as Leng prepares to deal a killing stroke, he is knocked off of Shepard by assault rifle gunfire. When Leng recovers, he spots Randall Ezno charging him, guns blazing. Shepard manages to half recover as well, and realizing that he is outnumbered, Kai Leng flees.
- Randall introduces himself, and explains that he is an agent of Liara T'Soni, tasked with protecting the Council from assassins, and monitor those suspected to be indoctrinated. In exchange for his services, Liara promised Randall revenge on the organization that robbed him of everything. Later, Randall Ezno is found on the Shadow Base for Liara's commencement of the Shadow War campaign.
- Missions:
- Randall is available as a squad-mate for all missions that are part of the Shadow War, the final assault on Cronos Station, ME3's final battles. Randall has the unique side quest on the Citadel “Visit Inali”.
- “Visit Inali” is a short Citadel side quest in which Randall regrets his allegiance to Cerberus.
- If Randall killed Inali Renata in ME: Infiltrator, then Shepard finds him at the memorial wall putting up a picture of her on the wall. The two ex-Cerberus agents recall their work with Cerberus, the sacrifices they made, comment on whether the idea of Cerberus is justifiable or not. Randall believes that, while Cerberus is tainted, the organization itself is a good concept that should endure. He believes that people like Inali represent the “best of humanity willing to do the worst for humanity”. Shepard can agree that Cerberus is a noble intention gone wrong, or a poorly intention made worse by poorer leadership.
- If Randall saved Inali Renata in ME: Infiltrator, then Shepard finds him at Huerta Hospital, where he is comforting Inali. A Council representative is in the room as well, trying to convince Inali to submit herself for a series of “safe” medical studies, designed to evaluate husk-technology. Inali is emotionally unstable, and frightened of the idea. Randall, angry with the Council rep, wishes for her to stay in the hospital. Shepard can convince Inali to take the study (for renegade points) by appealing to a sense of bravery, or side with Randall and tell the Council rep to leave Inali in peace.
- [Note: While Randall does not have any loyalty missions, or larger missions that focus entirely on him, gaining his trust and respect are still possible by performing Certain tasks he would appreciate. For example, during the mission “Project: Aegis”, Randall wishes for Shepard to kill The Director (if Randall killed Inali), or capture The Director (if Randall saved Inali). Performing whichever action Randall is most fond of is one way to gain his respect. Randall also despises Kai Leng, and wishes to join Shepard in the assault on Cronos Station. Having Ezno in Shepard's squad when the company goes to TIM's office is another way to gather his respect]
- Appearance:
- Randall looks slightly different from his original portrayal in ME:Infiltrator. Signifying his break from Cerberus, Randall's armor now has the Shadow Broker's red insignia, rather than the Cerberus logo.
- Randall's cybernetic implants and eyes, like Leng's and Shepard's, are based on his paragon-renegade levels.
- If Randall was a renegade in Infiltrator, then his implants and eyes are red.
- If Randall was a paragon, his implants have healed over, and his eyes have a faint blue glint.
- If Randall was a paragade, then his implants and eyes are green.
- Notable character interactions:
- Randall gets along well with Jacob, whom he worked with a few times before while part of Cerberus. The two operatives discuss Cerberus tactics, weapon modifications, etc.
- Randall's opinion of Garrus (and most aliens in general) depends on whether he was a racist in ME: Infiltrator. If Randall was a paragon-ish character, then he gets along well with Garrus and the other alien crew mates. If Randall was a more renegade driven protagonist in ME: Infiltrator, then he despises Garrus, and Tali.
- Randall wishes for Shepard to deploy Project Overlord's technology onto the Geth Sphere, and make the synthetics subservients to Cerberus. He sees the geth as mere machines, and doesn't trust Legion/Union.
- Randall's general attitude changes based on his paragon-renegade levels. If he is a paragon, Randall is professional, slightly gruff, but respectful and responsible. If Randall is a renegade, then his mannerisms change, and he is generally grumpy, rude, cold, and ruthless.
- Potential Death:
- Randall can be killed in the Spear Base while attempting to hold off Cerberus forces, if Shepard did not recruit more mercenaries or STG to assist in destroying the base.
- Ironing out variables:
- If one did not play ME:Infiltrator, Randall Ezno still appears in ME3. He has preset attitudes and perceptions.
- If one did not play ME:Infiltrator, then Randall is a renegade who killed Inali, and is generally ruthless. He hates aliens and doesn't trust synthetics. Randall likes Renegade Shepard.
