"Moonie, I'm home!"
>Silence greets you.
>No declarations of war. No monologuing. No surprise attacks from invisible bear assassins.
"Moonie?"
>Still no response. Maybe she's gone round to the Carousel Boutique, and spent the afternoon devising schemes for world domination.
>And stuffing herself with chocolate.
>A quiet whimper breaks the silence, coming from her room.
>Peeking through the door, you can barely make out her shape in the darkness.
>Her curtains are drawn, all the lights are off, and she's huddled under the duvet.
>You sit down at the foot of the bed, resting your hand on the quivering lump.
"Hey now, what's wrong?"
>The quivering stops.
>Suddenly, she bursts out of the bed, wrapping her forearms tightly around your chest.
>Her cheeks are damp, and her eyes red. She's been crying, and for some time.
>"I... I don't like her!"
>You don't day anything, just continue rubbing her spine, gently grooming her.
>"She t-thinks she can take you from me! You're mine and I ha-hate her!"

>Moonie's always been possessive of everything.
"She's not replacing you, you're still my favourite girl, you know that, right?"
>Moonie sniffs, and buries her head in your shoulder.
>"She's a meaniepants and she doesn't deserve you!"
>You smile, and ruffle her wings slightly.
"Well it's a good job I have you looking out for me then. C'mon, you can stay in my bed tonight."
>She doesn't let go, but you can feel her grip loosen slightly.
>"Promise you won't leave me?"
"Sure."
>"NO! Promise!"
"I promise I won't leave you. Are you going to be okay?"
>She just nods against your chest, mumbling almost too quiet for you to make out.
"I love you too, Moonie.
>Almost
