Chapter 2

 

>Lee woke up to a deep throbbing in his skull. He felt like he couldn't move, so he sensed his surroundings. It seemed like he was in a forest, surrounded by trees. It was still daytime, so that was good. He was laying in the grass, the smell of fresh air all around him. Wait, fresh air? There hadn't been fresh air in the Macon area for weeks. He suddenly remembered what he felt when the explosion happened. Something must have happened to him! He got the strength to move up and saw he had turned into...

>Nothing.

>'Phew, I thought I changed into something weird.' He thought to himself. He got to his feet after a few minutes of struggling. The area looked practically untouched. What in the world happened? He heard birds chirping happily in the trees, squirrels moving about, a shifting in the bushes. Wait, what? He did a double take, and spun around to see what came out. What he saw was confusing to him. It looked like a horse, but it was smaller than one. Must be a pony. It had a light brown coat, with a black mane and tail. It wore a cap and a shirt. It looked just like...

>"Kenny? Is that you?" He stared in utter astonishment. The pony wobbled over to Lee, apparently having a hard time walking.

>"Yeah, it's me. What happened? All I remember is that blue explosion and then I'm here." Lee now believed that this was indeed Kenny. He stared for a couple minutes more before regaining his composure.

>"I don't know, but whatever it was, it brought us here." Lee looked from left to right, looking for any signs of others. "Why don't we look around for the rest of the group?"

>"Sounds like a plan." Kenny agreed. They started walking (Kenny trying to trot) through the forest. It seemed like a very nice place. An area untouched by the disease. Lee was almost relaxed when a voice called from behind a tree.

>"Lee! Over here!" Clementine called out from her hiding spot. Lee ran over and hugged her, glad that she was safe. Clementine looked around Lee. "Um, Lee, is that a horse following you?"

>Lee almost forgot about Kenny. "Uh..." He was able to choke out. "That's... Kenny?" He said more like question.

>"Kenny? Is that... really you?" She asked the now pony.

>"Um, yeah." She knew he was Kenny now. She could remember that accent anywhere.

>"It really is you."

>"Well, I think we should get moving." Lee suggested. They started getting a move on, when yet another bush rattle made them startled. Lee took out the pistol he still had with him. He pointed at the bushes, ready to fire.

*Ponyville, 30 minutes earlier*

>A loud sound could be heard over the Ever-free Forest. Everypony just waved it off as just the regular noises that come from there, but one pony, a lavender unicorn with a darker colored mane and tail, looked over to see what was happening. She noticed what seemed to be a slim, blue portal, barely visible, spit out multiple bodies into the forest. She immediately knew this could be trouble, so she went to investigate.

>On her own.

*Every-free Forest, present time*

>Lee kept his gun pointed at the bush. He called out to see if it was friendly.

>"Hello? Who's there?" He yelled to the bush. The creature came out after pushing through the bush. What he saw was interesting. A creature similar to Kenny walked out. It had a lavender coat, with a darker color mane and tail. "H-hello?"

>Twilight stared at the three with curiosity. One was really tall, with dark skin and black hair. The other was small, with lighter skin and curly hair. She guessed it was a girl. The last one was a stallion, but he looked different from any stallion she had ever seen. Her hoof accidentally hit a branch, and the three turned in her direction. The tall one took out an L-shaped piece of metal and pointed it at the bush. The creature called out to her.

>"Hello? Who's there?" It yelled to her. At least they speak equestrian, she thought. She decided they were friendly, and walked out. When she did, the taller one looked confused. It said "H-hello?"

>"Hi, my name is Twilight Sparkle, personal student of Princess Celestia. May I ask, what are your names?"

>The three just stared at her. The little one was the one to speak up. "You can talk?" She asked.

>"Why, of course I can talk! Everypony can talk here." She said.

>"Wait, did you just say 'everypony?'" The stallion asked.

>"Yes, Equestria is inhabited by many ponies. You should know, you're a pony yourself." Twilight responded.

>"Guys," the tall one spoke, "I don't think we're in Macon anymore."

>"Macon?" Twilight asked. "What is that?"

>"How about we find someplace quiet to talk. I don't feel safe out here in the woods." The stallion said.

>"Okay, how about you come to Ponyville with me? We could talk at my home if you want."

>"That sounds good." The tall one agreed. As they started walking, the little creature came up to her and asked,

>"Excuse me, Miss Twilight?" She asked, "Are there other types of ponies in Equestria?"

>"Sure, sweetie! There's earth ponies and pegasus ponies. There are also other creatures too, like griffons." The little girl seemed to beam with eagerness to learn. Twilight loved when she got to share things with others.

>Lee watched as the two girls conversed about Equestria and many other things. Lee listened to some things, but he preferred to just keep walking. They followed the path until they made it out of the forest. The sunlight hit Lee's face like a nice, warm blanket. The weather seemed nice, unlike Macon.

>"Excuse me, sir." Twilight asked, "What is your name? You didn't tell me before."

>"My name is Lee. Lee Everett." He responded.

>"That's a weird name."

>"Well, it's what my parents named me, so I'm stuck with it."

>"And what about you little girl?" She was referring to Clementine.

>"My name is Clementine." She smiled.

>"That's a nice name." She smiled back. They kept walking along the path, not speaking for some time. Kenny was starting to feel left out. 'Why didn't she ask my name?" He thought to himself.

>"So, Lee." She looked at him.

>"Yes, Twilight?"

>"Clementine, is she your daughter?" She asked. Lee went frozen. He did not want to explain this just yet.

>"It's complicated. I'll explain when we get to your place." He answered after a bit.

>"Oh, okay..." She said. She really wanted to know more about these creatures.

*Meanwhile, in the forest*

>"HELLO!? ANYONE!?" Ben called out. No one answered. "Oh man, I really screwed up big time."
