  1. >A man of obvious importance exits from behind the decorative columns of the courthouse.
  2. >This ambassador is flanked by two armed escorts.
  3. >They walk down the courthouse steps to a waiting convoy and enter the second humvee.
  4. >Elsewhere, the clop of galloping hooves fill the alleys and rooftops of the market street.
  5. >The ambassador's convoy moves through the city.
  6. >Several soldiers walk in front of and beside the humvees.
  7. >The vehicles are on lead humvee, the ambassador's humvee, and a tank behind it.
  8. >Turning a corner onto the market street, one soldier notes how suspiciously quiet it is.
  9. >Just then, a twin pair of fireballs rocket past the foot soldiers.
  10. >The ones in front duck and fall onto their backs to avoid being hit.
  11. >One fireball explodes on the hood of the first humvee.
  12. >The second flies past and hits a wall behind the tank.
  13. >The soldiers immediately respond by shooting back at their assailants.
  14. >Pegasi attack from the sky with spiked horseshoes.
  15. >Earth ponies charge in with Centurion armor and spears.
  16. >Unicorns launch bolts of fire and lightning from the alleys and rooftops.
  17. >The soldiers defend themselves as best they can and take out several enemies, but they've been caught in the open from all sides.
  18. >Defensive magic is used to prevent the tank from acting.
  19. >It is eventually totally immobilized.
  20. >The men don't last much longer, and soon, only one remains.
  21. >A unicorn telekinetically rips the ambassador from his vehicle and throws him to the ground on his stomach.
  22. >A waiting Earth pony rears up and brings his heavy horseshoes down hard.
  23.
  24. >Not too far away, three men at a checkpoint fight desperately for their lives against a rush of assaulting equines.
  25. >They call out to each other, fighting side-by-side to the bitter end.
  26. >Their rounds ricochet off the Earth ponies' heavy armor and the unicorns' magic shields.
  27. >Pegasi can blind side them at and moment.
  28. >On more than a few occasions they got a little too up close and personal with their foes.
  29. >The men ducked shots of fire and lighting and hurled spears.
  30. >After an untracked amount of time, the attack had ceased.
  31. >The remaining equines had retreated.
  32. >A dozen or so pony corpses lied scattered up and down the road leading to the checkpoint.
  33. >The three friends rejoiced in their own survival.
  34. >One dropped to his knees in prayer.
  35. >He placed his hand over his left breast pocket.
  36. >In his pocket, over his heart, he kept a hand-written copy of Psalm23 and Psalm 91.
  37. >The other two reveled in general silence, but kept watch just in case another attack were to arise.
  38.
  39. >On the other side of the city, a small patrol of ponies walked the streets.
  40. >Earth, unicorn, and pegasus alike.
  41. >The glass to the local shops were smashed, having been looted some time ago.
  42. >Market stalls lining the streets were destroyed.
  43. >Piles of rubble from broken buildings and collapsed walls blocked some of the roads and alleys.
  44. >Small fires burned away.
  45. >Propaganda posters showing the sister princesses rotating around the sun and moon in a yin-yang fashion were plastered around the city.
  46. >A call to arms was also headed on the posters.
  47. >The patrol passes by a line of equine bodies lining the road against a stone wall.
  48. >Some don't even acknowledge them.
  49. >Others pass a single quick glance.
  50. >One unicorn, however, stopped and stared.
  51. >The dead ponies were forced against the wall where they had been executed.
  52. >The lone unicorn was passed by others behind him who never stopped to console their comrade.
  53. >The unicorn knew these ponies.
  54. >To his knowledge, they weren't even combatants.
  55. >Sometimes he forgets which side was the one who actually started all of this fighting.
  56. >Why they started fighting is an even bigger mystery.
  57. >The unicorn places a hoof on the body of a female unicorn and bows his head in mourning.
  58. >At that instant, a round snaps off the wall before him, hitting dead center of the yin-yang of a bloodied propaganda poster.
  59. >The unicorn, with all the speed of his reflexes, spins around and lets off a bolt of lightning.
  60. >The electricity arcs through the air and miraculously makes contact with his attacker.
  61. >The sniper shouts in agony and falls from his perch.
  62. >The unicorn clears his conscience and runs to catch up with the rest of his patrol.
  63.
  64. >Fighting rages all over the city.
  65. >Day in and day out.
  66. >Like the unicorn's thoughts, most of the combatants on both sides wonder what they're actually fighting for.
  67. >Both leaders claim genocide and other atrocities.
  68. >Said atrocities being commited by both sides.
  69. >It's these very leaders that are the only ones who want to fight.
  70. >Ironically, they do none of the fighting at all.
  71. >Being of different species and of different worlds altogether, there was no sense of humanity or morality shown to either side.
  72. >Perhaps our two worlds were never meant to meet.
  73. >For now, we will continue to fight until either side is defeated.
  74. >Else we eliminate ourselves trying.
