  1. >"You need your rest!" ordered Fluttershy, pushing you by your waist into your bedroom.
  2. >You push back.
  3. "My legs aren't broken! I can still walk around if I want!"
  4. >"That's just your mild concussion talking!"
  5. >She pushed harder.
  6. >You were holding on to the door frame just to keep from being forced into your room.
  7. >Considering her size and kind nature, she can be quite the brute when she wants to be.
  8.
  9. "I told you, I'm fine!"
  10. >You use the door frame as leverage to help push against Fluttershy.
  11. >You were both straining against each other as hard as you could.
  12. >"It's only been two days! You are so, uhn, not fine!"
  13. "This is orppression! I have a right to go for a run!"
  14. >"I said," she let pressure off of you and backed away a bit. "NO!"
  15. >She flew at you and tackled you through the doorway.
  16. >You lose all the breath in your lungs from the hit.
  17. >You stagger backwards and trip over the foot of the bed.
  18. >You bounce up from the bed and knock the still forward-flying Fluttershy up and into the wall behind the bed.
  19. >She hits the wall and safely falls to the pillows below.
  20. --
  21. >You sit up and spot the clear doorway to your salvation.
  22. >You leap from the bed and bolt for the door.
  23. "Freedom!"
  24. >Running, running, BAM!
  25. >Face full of door.
  26. >Fluttershy had raced around you at lightning speed and slammed the door shut, right in your face.
  27. >You shout and grip your face, staggering back and tripping over the bed again.
  28. "Ah-haha-how!"
  29.
  30. >"Ohmigosh, I'm so sorry!" cried Fluttershy, rushing over to you and feeling your forehead.
  31. "Alright," you mumble through your hands. "You win. I'll stay in bed."
  32. >Fluttershy squeed with a victorious smile.
  33. >"You see? I told you you were going to hurt yourself. It's a dangerous world out there."
  34. >You remove your hands from your face and glare at Fluttershy, who returned your gaze with an innocent smile.
  35. >She's been trying to come up with every excuse to keep you bed-ridden.
  36. >Swear to God, if it boils down to her smashing your knee caps with a mallet, you're not gonna be too happy about it.
  37. --
  38. >"Let me get you something for your head."
  39. >Fluttershy kissed your forehead before leaving the room to go downstairs.
  40. >Come to think of it, that actually made your head feel a little better.
  41. >Fluttershy is such a good pony.
  42. >You've told yourself, and her as well, so many times before.
  43. >And it never gets old.
  44. >Normally, you wouldn't mind lying in bed all day.
  45. >You're lazy enough to enjoy it for the most part.
  46. >But the simple fact that you're forced to be here brings out the rebellious side in you.
  47.
  48. >You hear a knock on the door and Fluttershy call out to the visitors.
  49. >You can't hear the conversation as your bedroom door is muffling the voices.
  50. >Then, hooves on the staircase.
  51. >Oh boy, visitors...
  52. >In walks in Fluttershy with Rarity in tow.
  53. >Oh boy, Rarity!
  54.
  55. >"Oh my! He really does look as horrible as you said!" said Rarity.
  56. >You give a deadpan stare at Fluttershy who looks away, embarassed.
  57. "Gee, thanks. It's always nice to know how others really feel."
  58. >"Oh, come now, darling. I didn't mean it like that," said Rarity.
  59. "Heheh. Yeah, I know. I'm just playin'."
  60. >"Hmm, quite."
  61. >Rarity was not amused.
  62. --
  63. >"So, Anonymous." said Rarity.
  64. "What."
  65. >"I was talking to Fluttershy here about going on our little spa day today, but from what I see, she can't possibly leave you here alone!"
  66. >You roll your eyes.
  67. "Why does everypony think I'm totally incapable of taking care of myself?"
  68. >"Because you're hurt, darling. Is it not obvious?"
  69. "I'm totally mobile! So I had a slight concussion, big whoop."
  70. >You wave your hands in front of you to emphasize your point.
  71. >"Well, be that as it may, we will not be going to the spa today."
  72. "Uh... okay?"
  73. >"Instead, I will be staying here to help Fluttershy in taking care of you!"
  74. "Wait, what?!"
  75.
  76. >This is just freakin perfect.
  77. >If Fluttershy treating you like a baby wasn't bad enough, now you got Rarity here also!
  78. >The chatty, gossipy, OCD, fashionista pony.
  79. >"Oh, darling, we're going to have so much fun!" exclaimed Rarity, clopping her forehooves together.
  80. "Great..."
  81. --
  82. >As much as you love Rarity and all she's done for you and Fluttershy, she can become quite an annoyance after being around her for an extended period of time.
  83. >Not to mention that when she's together with Fluttershy, they become an unstoppable gossip machine.
  84. >Fluttershy will spill all of her feelings about you to Rarity and many other things you would prefer to keep quiet.
  85. >One time, Fluttershy almost revealed your secret fetish to Rarity.
  86. >Luckily, you happened to saunter into the room just before she could.
  87.
  88. >"I'm going to go make your breakfast," said Fluttershy.
  89. >She left Rarity with you.
  90. >Rarity looked about your room.
  91. >Your messy, messy room.
  92. >"Darling, I... this is just..."
  93. >Your bed is unmade.
  94. >The wall decor is askew.
  95. >And the carpet is a little dirty.
  96. >But worst of all...
  97. >Oh sweet Celestia...
  98. >Your dirty laundry is on the floor.
  99.
  100. >You can swear Rarity's eye twitched a little as she spotted your dirty socks hanging from a dresser drawer.
  101. >Your shirt tossed across the room.
  102. >And your pants were lying next to the bed.
  103. "What?"
  104. >"Anonymous, how can you live like this!"
  105. >You look around the room, trying to figure out what the hell she was talking about.
  106. >So you had few clothes on the ground.
  107. >You fail to notice anything that would require the city to condemn your home.
  108. "Uhh... what?"
  109. >"This..." Rarity levitates your discarded shirt. "This filth!"
  110. >You raise an eyebrow, still unable to comprehend what she was so upset about.
  111. --
  112. >"I simply refuse to allow this!"
  113. "What?"
  114. >She begins to clean your room.
  115. >First beginning with your laundry.
  116. >Folding them neatly and stacking them in the hamper.
  117. >You fail to see the reasoning behind this.
  118. >Next, she moves on to the wall pictures frames and other wall hangings.
  119. >They looked straight to you.
  120. >You couldn't even see if she even moved them or not.
  121. >But after a few minutes at each one, she seemed satisfied.
  122. >Lastly, she cleaned your carpet.
  123. >You thought a good sweeping was good enough, but apparently not for Rarity.
  124. >With great concentration, she lifted the invisible specks of dirt from your carpet, balled them up, and launched them out the window.
  125.  >When she finished with that, she began running about your bedroom, aligning all the furniture to look neater.
  126.
  127. >When she finished, she double checked her handiwork.
  128. >Everything was perfect.
  129. >"Now that's much better," she turned too look at you. "Wouldn't you ag-"
  130. >That bed.
  131. >That messy, unmade bed.
  132. >The untucked sheets, the unfluffed pillows.
  133. >She began walking towards you, horn glowing
  134. "Rarity, what are you- HNNG!"
  135. >She magicks the sheets tight and snug against the matress.
  136. >The comforter as well, which you were under.
  137. "Too tight!" you squeak out.
  138. >You manage to free your arms and begin wildly thrashing on the bed, trying to loosen the covers.
  139.
  140. >You finally mess the bed enough that you can get free and stand up.
  141. >You clutch your chest, breathing hard.
  142. >"Now why did you go and do that, Anonymous?"
  143. >Rarity remade the bed and you lied back down, on top of the covers this time.
  144. >It was a little too hot to be under the blankets anyways.
  145. --
  146. >Fluttershy walked in with a tray on her back.
  147. >It smelled delicious.
  148. >"Oh, I see Rarity made the bed for you?" wondered Fluttershy.
  149. "Yeah."
  150. >"That was nice of you," Fluttershy said to Rarity.
  151. >"It was no trouble at all," Rarity replied.
  152. >Fluttershy walked over to the bed.
  153. >You sat up and Rarity moved the tray into your lap.
  154. >Bacon, egg, and cheese on buttered toast.
  155. >Fluttershy knows you so well.
  156. "Thanks Flutters."
  157. >Rarity looks at Fluttershy and raises an eyebrow, pointing a hoof at you.
  158. >Fluttershy blushed.
  159. >You grab the sandwich and eat, staring at your plate.
  160.
  161. >Rarity and Fluttershy trade glances.
  162. >"Is- is everything alright, Anon?" asked Rarity.
  163. >You look up and look back and forth between the two.
  164. >You swallow.
  165. "Yeah, why?"
  166. >"Oh, nothing deary. It's just... you seem so... down."
  167. >You look to Fluttershy who looks just as worried as Rarity.
  168. "Uh... I'm fine, thanks."
  169. >You continue eating.
  170.
  171. >"You're not mad at me, are you?" asked Fluttershy.
  172. >You choked on your food before finally swallowing it.
  173. "What? Why would I be mad?"
  174. >"For making you stay in bed."
  175. "No, Fluttershy. I'm not mad. Just... meh."
  176. >"Oh, okay. I'm sorry."
  177. --
  178. >A knocking at the door takes Fluttershy downstairs again.
  179. >You tossed a pillow to Rarity and she used it for a cushion to sit.
  180. >"So..." said Rarity.
  181. "So..."
  182. >You have finished your breakfast and throw the covers off to stand.
  183. >"Oh! I'll take care of that, darling!"
  184. >Rarity tried to levitate the tray from your hands, but you held onto it.
  185. "Nah, it's cool. I got it."
  186. >You pulled the tray back close.
  187. >"Oh, but I insist!"
  188. >Rarity increased her influence over the tray.
  189. "No, really. I can do it."
  190. >"Please, Anon. Just stay in bed like you're supposed to."
  191. >You sigh and release the tray.
  192. >You climb back into bed as Rarity takes the tray away.
  193.
  194. >Rarity just gets to the door when it flies open and nails her in the face, the crumbs from your plate clinging to her coat.
  195. >"ANONYMOUS!!!"
  196. "Oh nonono wait!"
  197. >You hold out both hands, only to be tackled by the three most adorable fillies you've ever met.
  198. >Adorable, yes.
  199. >Situationally aware, no.
  200. >They failed to notice your bandages and various bruises.
  201. >Thankfully, Rarity was quick to respond by levitating the three of them off of you.
  202. >You breathe in deeply before letting out a long, drawn-out sigh of muffled pain.
  203. >You curl into a loose fetal position.
  204. >Your head, your chest, and your everything.
  205. >Pain once more.
  206. --
  207. >"Girls, please! You're hurting him!" cried Rarity.
  208. >The Crusaders, who were laughing and struggling against Rarity's influence, stopped and stared at your injured form.
  209. >Now it finally sinks in.
  210. >"Oh,we- uh..."
  211. >They stutter, but can't seem to form a coherent sentence.
  212. >Rarity sets them on the floor and they walk up to the side of the bed.
  213. >They raise their forehooves up and rest their cute little heads on their legs.
  214. >There's a sadness in their eyes that would break your heart had you payed attention to them.
  215.
  216. >Applejack and Fluttershy come up the stairs and enter the room.
  217. >You look up to see who it is.
  218. >You drop your head back down.
  219. "Shouldn't you girls be in school?" you ask the Crusaders.
  220. >"Actually, Anon," Applejack stepped forward. "Ah done picked 'em up from school to come visit ya!"
  221. >You slide up the bed and sit up against the headboard.
  222. "Well that was cool of you, Applejack."
  223. >"No problem, Anon!" said Applejack, crossing her legs and striking a pose.
  224.
  225. >You turn to the girls.
  226. "So, what did the three of you come out here for?"
  227. >"Well," started Applebloom. "We heard you got hurt."
  228. >"So we decided to come and see if you were okay!" finished Scootaloo.
  229. >"We thought you could use the excitement, seeing as you're stuck in bed all day," said Sweetie Belle.
  230. >You reach out and pat Applebloom's head, as she is the closest.
  231. "Thank you for the thought girls. Sorry I couldn't walk you to school this morning."
  232. >Fluttershy dropped her head.
  233. --
  234. >"That's okay, Anonymous," said Applebloom. "We know how you saved Fluttershy from the bad pony."
  235. >"Yeah!" said Scootaloo. "That was awesome! I wish we could've seen it!"
  236. >No.
  237. >No they don't.
  238. >They had no idea, their innocent minds unable to process that kind of horror.
  239. >"I think it was very brave of you," said Sweetie Belle. "Rarity said it was the most honorable and roman-"
  240. >Rarity wrapped a leg around Sweetie Belle's mouth.
  241. >"Okay!" blurted out Rarity. "Well then, this was a nice visit wasn't it?"
  242. >"But what about what you-" said Sweetie Belle.
  243. >"Come now, girls! I think it's time you get back to school!"
  244. >Rarity had an unnervingly large smile on her face.
  245.
  246. >"Awww..." they all pouted.
  247. >"Heheh. Come on, y'all. Ah'll take ya back. Ah gotta get back to the farm anyhow."
  248. >"Awww..." they pouted again.
  249. >"Thanks for coming," said Fluttershy.
  250. "Yeah, thanks for coming girls."
  251. >You waved goodbye to them.
  252. >"Bye Anonymous!" they waved back and ran downstairs.
  253. >"Ah better get after 'em to make sure they don't bust nothin'," said Applejack, walking out. "It's great to see you're okay Anon."
  254. "You too Applejack."
  255. --
  256. >As Applejack left, you heard a crashing come from downstairs.
  257. >"Oh darn it!" yelled Applejack, rushing downstairs.
  258. >As soon as Applejack leaves your bedroom, she is blasted back through the door in a shower of confetti and streamers.
  259. >You manage to catch her before she hits the wall behind you.
  260. >Dear God, that hurt worse than the Crusader's ambush...
  261. >"Woo wee! Thanks a bunch for that, Anon!"
  262. "No problem," you whisper, your chest in too much pain for much else.
  263.
  264. >"Get well soon, Anonymous!" shouted Pinkie Pie as she bounded into your room.
  265. >At second glance, you see Rainbow Dash walking up the stairs behind her.
  266. >Pinkie Pie sees Applejack sitting in your lap.
  267. >"Ooh! Pony Clause! Me next! Me next!"
  268. >Pinkie jumped over the bed, landing in your lap and knocking Applejack to the floor.
  269. >"I want me a barrel of floss, and two balls of glue, to be my friends! And I want-"
  270. >Two minutes later.
  271. >"-and a chair made of cheese, and a table made of cheese, and-"
  272. >"Um, Pinkie Pie?" asked Fluttershy.
  273. >"Yeah?"
  274. >"Could you, um, please get down?"
  275. >"Okie dokie lokie!"
  276.
  277. >Pinkie Pie hopped off the bed.
  278. >You were clutching your chest with one hand, the other clenched tightly into a fist and shaking violently.
  279. >Thank you Fluttershy.
  280. >Rainbow Dash was chuckling at your obvious pain.
  281. >Somehow, Pinkie Pie failed to notice EVERYTHING.
  282. >"So Anonymous, how's it feel to be the 'Hero of Ponyville'!"
  283. >What.
  284. --
  285. >You relax your arms.
  286. "Say what now?"
  287. >"The whole town is calling you a hero for saving Fluttershy from that creep!" exclaimed Pinkie.
  288. >You shake your head.
  289. "I'm not the 'Hero of Ponyville'. That creep was going to... hurt Fluttershy."
  290. >You clench your fists again.
  291. "I can't let that happen."
  292. >"Well regardless, we need to throw you a 'Get Well Soon/Hero' party!"
  293. "I'm not a hero."
  294. >"Aw shucks, Anon," said Applejack. "You don't need to undermind yourself like that. We all think you're a hero."
  295. >"Yes, quite," said Rarity. "I would do anything for a stallion as brave as you, Anon. Fluttershy really scored big with you."
  296. >Everyone slowly turned their heads towards Rarity.
  297. >"What?" asked Rarity.
  298. >"Nothing," said everypony.
  299.
  300. >"Uh... Hello?"
  301. >Everypony turned to the door to see Twilight standing there with a saddlebag.
  302. >Why the hell is everypony in your house?
  303. >Your bedroom at that.
  304. "Hey."
  305. >"Hello," answered everypony else.
  306. --
  307. "What are you doing here?" you ask Twilight.
  308. >"Oh I brought wonderful news!" exclaimed Twilight.
  309. "No. I mean, what are you doing HERE."
  310. >"Oh... The front door was open, so I got a little worried that your house was broken into again."
  311. >Rainbow Dash rolled her eyes.
  312. >"And I didn't expect everypony to be here as well."
  313. "Neither did I." you mutter under your breath.
  314.
  315. >"So what's the good news Twilight?" asked Applejack.
  316. >"It's not just good news," answered Twilight matter-of-factly.
  317. >"Well, what is it, darling?" asked Rarity.
  318. >Twilight levitated 7 golden tickets from her saddlebag.
  319. >All the ponies' faces lit up with huge smiles.
  320. "I don't get it. You going to a chocolate factory or something?"
  321. >Everypony looked at you and gasped, mouth agape.
  322. >All except Pinkie who gasped, mouth agape, at the wonderful idea you just gave.
  323. >"ARE YOU SERIOUS?!" asked everypony in unison.
  324. >Pinkie's was excitement.
  325. "I honestly haven't a clue."
  326.
  327. >"Anonymous, these are tickets to the Grand Galloping Gala!" said Twilight.
  328. >"It's only the most wonderful occasions in Equestria!" said Rarity.
  329. >"And also the best party of all time!" exclaimed Pinkie Pie.
  330. >"Heh, even though last time was a total disaster," said Applejack.
  331. >Everypony looked at Applejak and nodded.
  332. >"Yeah," they agreed.
  333. "Hahaha! What? What happened? Did the cops come bust it up or something?"
  334. --
  335. >"Not exactly," said Twilight. "The night was nothing like we imagined it would be."
  336. "So then why are you all excited about some lame party?"
  337. >"Because we know what we did wrong!" said Twilight with a smile.
  338. "Hold on a second. You're not all going to try the same things as last time, are you?"
  339. >"Well, of course we are," said Applejack. "We still have our reasons for going."
  340. "What reasons?" you ask, getting a little irritated.
  341. >"It's really nothing to worry about, darling," said Rarity. "We have it all figured out."
  342.
  343. "Wait. So you've been planning this for while then, haven't you?"
  344. >"Yes, actually," said Twilight. "And the tickets aren't even the best news."
  345. "No?"
  346. >You have a bad feeling about this.
  347. >Twilight shakes her head.
  348. >"It turns out, Spike doesn't want his ticket because of last year. I tried to tell him it would be different this year, but he wouldn't hear it."
  349. >At least Spike has some sense.
  350. >"So then I thought," continued Twilight. "Why not give you Spike's ticket!"
  351. >Fuck.
  352. --
  353. "Thanks, but I don't think-"
  354. >"Oh, Twilight, that is just wonderful!" said Fluttershy. "That is very thoughtful of you."
  355. >"Well, I know how Anon hasn't participated in any of our festivals or ceremonies. I figured that the Grand Galloping Gala would be the best first thing we all do together."
  356. >"Oh Anon, we could walk the gardens together."
  357. >Fluttershy gasped.
  358. >"We can look at all the cute animals together!"
  359. >"Heheh, yeah. Maybe he can spend some time with his monkey family!" said Rainbow.
  360. >Everypony turned and glared at her.
  361. >"What?" she asks.
  362. >Then they all turn back to you, confused, when they hear your soft laughter.
  363. "What?" you ask.
  364. >They all trade glances and shrugs with each other.
  365. >What can you say?
  366. >She got you good on that one.
  367. >And Fluttershy walked right into it.
  368.
  369. >You raise your hand.
  370. "I gotta question."
  371. >"What?" asks Twilight.
  372. "When exactly IS this gala?"
  373. >"This coming Saturday. Why?"
  374. >You drop your hand and give her a deadpan stare.
  375. >Four fucking days.
  376. "How can I show up when my face is swollen?"
  377. >"That's the trick," said Twilight. "Princess Celestia dreads the gala every year. She says it's always so boring."
  378. >"So she asked us to come up with a theme this year!" exclaimed Pinkie Pie.
  379. "Oh yeah? And what would that be?"
  380. --
  381. >"It's a really fun idea!" said Pinkie.
  382. >"And a fashionable one at that," said Rarity.
  383. "What is it?"
  384. >"If not a little creepy," said Rainbow.
  385. "What is it?"
  386. >"Aw, come on, Rainbow. It ain't that bad," said Applejack.
  387. "Hey."
  388. >"I agree with Rainbow Dash," said Fluttershy. "It can be a little... unnerving."
  389. "Are you even listening to me?"
  390. >"There's no need to fret, darling," said Rarity. "You should see the one I have planned for you."
  391. >"Oh, okay," said Fluttershy.
  392.
  393. "HEY!"
  394. >Everypony turned to look at you.
  395. >"There's no need to be rude, Anonymous," scolded Rarity.
  396. >"Hey now, Anonymous. If y'all wanted somethin', ya shoulda spoken up!" said Applejack.
  397. >"Hahaha. Yeah Anonymous. What gives?" poked Rainbow.
  398. >You give them all a deadpan stare.
  399. >Your eye twitches a little bit.
  400. >"Well, what did you want, Anonymous?" asked Twilight.
  401. "What. Is. The. Gala. About."
  402. --
  403. "Oh, that?" asked Twilight. "Well, it's an annual event where-"
  404. "No, damn it. I meant, what was the theme this year?"
  405. >"Oh... Well why didn't you just say so? asked Twilight, a little offended at your language.
  406. >"Why are you being so rude today, Anonymous?" asked Rarity.
  407. "I- ... Uh... Hmm..."
  408. >You put your hand to your chin.
  409. >Yeah, why are you being such an asshole today?
  410. >Granted, you're not allowed to leave your bed, but still.
  411. >Maybe you're just upset that that pegasus kicked you-
  412. >Hey, wait a minute!
  413. >This isn't about you!
  414.
  415. >You shake your head and break your train of thought.
  416. "Nothing. Sorry. Can you just tell me already?"
  417. >"Not with that attitude, mister."
  418. "Please?"
  419. >"Oh, okay then. It's-"
  420. >"It's a super fun idea that-"
  421. "Pinkie!"
  422. >She stopped talking, sat down, and motioned to zip her lips.
  423. "Rarity?"
  424. >"It's a masquerade ball."
  425. --
  426. "Oh..."
  427. >Aw crap...
  428. >Well actually, that's not as bad as what you were originally thinking.
  429. >And Twilight was right about one thing.
  430. >The fact that your face would be covered would conceal you injuries pretty well.
  431. >But really?
  432. >A masquerade ball?
  433.
  434. >"What's wrong, Anon?" asked Twilight.
  435. >You snap out of your train of thought.
  436. "Huh? What?"
  437. >"What's wrong?" she asks again.
  438. "Oh, nothing. "But I do have a question."
  439. >"What's that?"
  440. "I don't have a mask. Where would I even get one?"
  441. >Rarity cleared her throat.
  442. >"Do you really need to ask?" she asked.
  443. "Oh yeah... Right..."
  444. >You feel like an idiot.
  445. --
  446. "So," you clap our hands. "Can everypony please leave so I can get some rest? I'm still hurting from all the these shenanigans this morning."
  447. >You hold a hand to your chest and wince.
  448. >"Okie dokie lokie!" said Pinkie, bounding over to you.
  449. >She wrapped you in a tight hug, putting you in more pain.
  450. >Everypony else, except for Rainbow, joined her.
  451. >The pain...
  452. >Just hang in there...
  453. >It'll all be over in a few seconds...
  454. >"We'll see you later, Anon! Okay?" asked Pinkie.
  455. "Okay," you whisper out.
  456.
  457. >They break the hug and you let out a deep sigh of relief.
  458. >It takes a few minutes longer, but everypony says their goodbyes and Fluttershy manages to push them all out the front door.
  459. >She comes back upstairs to find you already curled beneath the comforter.
  460. >"Anon?"
  461. >She walks over to the side of the bed and nudges you with a hoof.
  462. >You were out.
  463. >"He really was tired," she whispered to herself.
  464. >She tucked you in nice and cozy.
  465. >"Sweet dreams, Anon."
  466. >She planted a soft kiss on your forehead before she trotted out of the room.
  467. --
  468. >When you woke up, it was dark out.
  469. >The curtain was closed, so there was no moonlight coming into the room.
  470. >It was pitch black.
  471. >A leg around your neck and slow breathing down the back of your neck confirmed that Fluttershy was asleep next to you.
  472. >You squeeze your eyelids shut and bring both hands to your head.
  473. >God damn this fucking headache.
  474. >After a few minutes of just holding your head, you throw off the covers and lie there for a few more minutes.
  475. >So hot...
  476. >You need to open a window.
  477.
  478. >You slowly rise to a sitting position, your feet hanging off the side of the bed.
  479. "What the hell..." you whisper to yourself.
  480. >Sweat was pouring off of your face and you could not sit still for the life of you.
  481. >Your splitting headache and this heat...
  482. >Holy crap this heat...
  483. >You shamble over to the window, feeling with your hands and testing the floor with your feet for anything you could bump into.
  484. >You make it safely to the window.
  485. >You throw the curtain open and begin to fumble with the lock in the dimly-lit room.
  486. >You finally get it undone and throw the window open.
  487. >The rush of cold air gives you instant goosebumps.
  488. --
  489. >You wrap your naked torso with your arms and shiver.
  490. >But this cold air is doing nothing for you.
  491. >You are still sweating profusely, and your skin is now as cold as ice from the breeze blowing through the window.
  492. >You slowly walk over ot your bed.
  493. >You don't get in, but just look down and stare at it for a minute.
  494. >Your throat feels dry and hurts to swallow.
  495. >Still holding yourself, you slowly walk towards the door, swaying side to side with each step.
  496. >You slide one hand up and down the door until you finally bump the knob.
  497. >Turning it slowly as not to wake Fluttershy, you open the door and step out.
  498.
  499. >Carefully descending into the darkness below, you hold both rails with your hands and take one step at a time.
  500. >You take a blind step, and it doesn't fall down.
  501. >You've reached the bottom.
  502. >You shamble your way over to the bathroom door.
  503. >You slide your hand up and down, and all over the wall, trying to find the lightswitch.
  504. >You finally run your hand over it and accidentally throw it on.
  505. "Ah!"
  506. >You duck your head and cover you eyes with your hands.
  507. >You were not ready for the bright light just yet.
  508. --
  509. >You held your hands tightly against your face, face pointed to the floor.
  510. >You crack your hands to let a little light in, but it's so bright, you immediately close them again.
  511. >You stand there for at least 5 minutes, cracking your hands and closing them again.
  512. >Eventually, you settle for just squeezing your eyelids shut, ocassionally opening and closing them.
  513. >Through the brief flashes of light, you slowly make your way to the toilet to relieve yourself.
  514. >Your eyes are closed, but the sounds of the water splashing let you know you're doing good so far.
  515. >You finish and feel your way to the sink.
  516. >To hell with a glass, you turn on the cold water and drink through a cupped hand.
  517.
  518. >You stand over the sink, your head drooping down and water dripping from your face.
  519. >You look to the door with squinted eyes and spot Fluttershy watching you.
  520. >She had an expressionless face.
  521. >She walked over and floated up towards you.
  522. >Taking your head with both hooves, she turns it side to side, examining you.
  523. >She stares deep into your eyes.
  524. >With a soft voice she tells you,
  525. >"Go back to sleep. I will be there in a little while."
  526. >You nod and make your way upstairs, with help from Fluttershy, and back into bed.
  527. >Fluttershy doesn't join you.
  528. --
  529. >You are asleep within a minute.
  530. >Morning comes and the sun shines brightly through your window.
  531. >You haven't woken up like this in a while, and boy do you hate it.
  532. >The bright light is not helping your headache at all.
  533. >You roll over and throw the comforter over your head.
  534. >But now your too hot.
  535. >You throw it down to your waste.
  536. >But now your too cold.
  537. >What the hell!
  538. >You bring it up over you shoulders and decide to just deal with it.
  539.
  540. >Fluttershy walks into the room, a brown paper bag in her mouth.
  541. >The first thing she does is walk to the window and closes the curtains.
  542. >With the sunlight gone, you woll onto your back once more.
  543. >Fluttershy walks over to the bed and nudges you.
  544. >You grunt in acknowledgement.
  545. >She nods.
  546. >"Sorry," she whispers.
  547. >She goes downstairs, returning minutes later with a tray and a glass of a sweet-smelling, hot drink.
  548. --
  549. >"Anon," whispers Fluttershy.
  550. >No response.
  551. >"Anon." she nudges you with a hoof.
  552. >You grunt in response to being moved.
  553. >"Anon, please sit up."
  554. >You groan and iver the course of a minute or two, work and slide your way into a seating position, supported by the headboard.
  555. >Your head sags low.
  556. >So tired.
  557. >You're fighting just to stay sitting up.
  558. >Fluttershy holds the cup between her hooves and lifts it to your mouth.
  559. >You sip very, very slowly.
  560. >It's so hot, yet so good.
  561.
  562. >"Okay, that's enough," said Fluttershy, lowering the cup from your lips.
  563. >You reach out for more, but Fluttershy lightly takes hold of your hands with her hooves and sets them in your lap.
  564. >She helps you slide back down into bed and under the covers.
  565. >She sets the cup down on the end table.
  566. >She gives you another kiss on the forehead and leaves you to rest.
  567. --
  568. >"Anon," whispered Fluttershy, nuzzling the back of your neck.
  569. "Hmm?" you grunt.
  570. >"Are you hungry?"
  571. "No," you say into your pillow.
  572. >"Oh. Well, would you please eat something?"
  573. "No."
  574. >"Please? You've been asleep all day. At least have something for dinner."
  575. >It was dinner already?
  576. >You wasted away an entire day.
  577. >You can't remember the last time you did that, if at all.
  578. >But after all this sleep, you are still so tired.
  579.
  580. >You roll over and look at the window.
  581. >You can barely see the sunlight coming through from behind the curtain.
  582. >It must be sunset.
  583. >You let out a long, hard yawn and stretch your arms and legs.
  584. >You rewrap yourself in the blankets and look at Fluttershy.
  585. >On the tray she was carrying, was a bowl of soup.
  586. >Vegetable soup by the looks of it.
  587. >That doesn't sound so bad right now, but you aren't hungry.
  588. --
  589. >"Please sit up?" asks Fluttershy.
  590. >You scoot up to the head of the bed, your back supported by the headboard.
  591. >Fluttershy places the tray in your lap and even goes as far as to hold the spoon for you.
  592. "I got it, Fluttershy. Thanks."
  593. >You take the spoon from her mouth and she nods.
  594. >You stick it in the soup, but just stare at it.
  595. >Fluttershy looks back and forth from you and the bowl, confused.
  596. >"Is... is something wrong, Anon?"
  597. >There is a genuine worry in her voice.
  598. "What?" you ask through half-lidded eyes. "Oh. Nothing, nothing. Just... not hungry right now."
  599.
  600. >"Can you please eat something?"
  601. >It almost sounds like she's about to cry.
  602. >"You don't have to eat it all."
  603. >You nod slowly, and slowly raise the spoon to your mouth.
  604. >A soft blow to cool it down, and then a sip to get it in your mouth.
  605. >Delicious, but you're just not feeling well enough to fully enjoy it.
  606. >Fluttershy sits in silence next to the bed as you take you sweet time bring spoonful after spoonful of the bowl's contents to your mouth.
  607. >Before you know it, your already bringing the bowl to your mouth to drink what's left of the broth.
  608.
  609. >Fluttershy smiles when she sees you down the last of the bowl's contents.
  610. >You set the bowl back on the tray and Fluttershy moves it aside.
  611. >"I'm going to have Twilight bring some books over tomorrow and see if we can't figure out what's wrong, okay?"
  612. "Sure."
  613. >Fluttershy helps you lay back down and softly tucks you in.
  614. >"I'll be back in a minute to join you," she whispers.
  615. >Your eyes close and you're asleep before she even makes it back.
  616. --
  617. >Fluttershy wakes you the next morning to see how you're doing.
  618. >Better, actually.
  619. >Whatever was in that tea she gave you yesterday morning, you feel a lot better.
  620. >You still feel like crap, but at least you're not completely useless like you were yesterday.
  621. >Fluttershy stays in the bed, watching you as you stretch and slowly sit up on the edge of the bed.
  622. >Your back hurts.
  623. >Lying down these last couple days can do that.
  624.
  625. >"You okay?"
  626. >You twist your spine and it pops several times.
  627. "Meh..." you shrug.
  628. >You stare at the floor in front of you.
  629. >"Would you like to go downstairs for breakfast? Or would you rather have me bring you something?"
  630. >You're not really hungry though.
  631. "I... I guess I'll go downstairs."
  632. >"Would you like some help?"
  633. "Nah," you shake your head. "I got it. I'll be down in a few."
  634.
  635. >Fluttershy moved across the bed and gave you a kiss on the cheek.
  636. >"Okay."
  637. >She hopped off the bed and left the room.
  638. >You decided to lie down for a few minutes longer, and then you'll go to breakfast.
  639. --
  640. >Fluttershy pokes you in the side, to which you respond by nearly jumping out of bed.
  641. >One, you just realized you had fallen asleep.
  642. >Two, you think you just missed breakfast with Fluttershy.
  643. >Three, that kinda tickled.
  644. "Oh, crap! Please tell me I didn't miss breakfast?"
  645. >Fluttershy giggled.
  646. >"No, you didn't. I just came up to tell you that it was ready if you want to come down."
  647. >You sigh in relief.
  648. "Yeah, just give me a minute."
  649. >Fluttershy just stands there, watching, making sure you don't go back to sleep.
  650. >You stare at each other for the better part of a minute before you decide to get off your lazy ass.
  651.
  652. >The first thing you realize is that you fucking stink.
  653. >When was the last time you had a shower?
  654. >Fluttershy sees your look of disgust on your face.
  655. >"You can shower after you eat."
  656. "Yeah, good idea."
  657. >You finally get up and slowly hobble your way downstairs.
  658. >You barely touched your breakfast, but at least you ate.
  659. >Fluttershy helped you with your shower.
  660. >The warm water was felt damn good.
  661. >You feel rejuvinated.
  662. >Your headache has subsided for now.
  663. >Shave, brush teeth, get dressed; the usual routine.
  664. --
  665. >Twilight had arrived sometime before lunch.
  666. >You and Fluttershy were lying down on the couch when she knocked on the door.
  667. >You just yelled for her to come in, not wanting either of you to get up.
  668. >She enters, wearing a saddle bag.
  669. >Inside said saddle bag are a large amount of books.
  670. >She greets the two of you, but then blushes and turns away when she rounds the couch.
  671. >Neither of you had noticed, but you were lying together in a rather suggestive position.
  672. >Well, to somepony elses eyes you were.
  673. >The two of you couldn't find anything wrong with it.
  674.
  675. >Fluttershy hopped off of you and greeted Twilight.
  676. >The two of them begin searching through various veterinary texts, trying to diagnose your unknown sickness.
  677. >You open your mouth to speak several times, but they tell you to shush while they discuss what could possibly be wrong with you.
  678. >You go to the kitchen to grab a glass of water.
  679. >Boy, were you thirsty.
  680. >Dehydration is probably not helping you get any better.
  681. >You return to the living room and lie back down, watching the two ponies sift through the massive stacks of books.
  682.
  683. >"How about this one?" asks Twilight. "Symptoms include fever, fatigue, and sore..."
  684. >She blushes.
  685. >"Oh... nevermind."
  686. >What the hell kind of disease was that?
  687. >You already know what's wrong, but they refuse to listen.
  688. >"Maybe it's- No, that's not right..." said Fluttershy.
  689. >Their first mistake is that they're looking through medical texts for ponies.
  690. >Their second mistake was that they didn't even bother to ask you about it.
  691. >You also make a note of the books on apes in the stack.
  692. >You are not a God damned monkey...
  693. --
  694. >"This is awful!" cried Fluttershy. "How can we go to the gala together if he's sick like this?"
  695. >"We can do it, Fluttershy," assured Twilight. "We still have 2 days."
  696. >Even that might not be enough time.
  697. >But seeing as how you're already feeling better, it would only be a minor annoyance more than anything.
  698. >If anything, you should be grateful that you haven't keeled over yet.
  699. >Or the ponies of Ponyville for that matter.
  700. >What with all the exotic diseases you brought with you, and the one's you face in Equestria make it nothing short of a miracle.
  701. >Or just dumb luck.
  702.
  703. "Hey."
  704. >No response.
  705. >"But what if he doesn't get better?" asked Fluttershy. "I don't think I can go to the gala without him."
  706. >"If we can't figure it out, I'm sure a doctor from Ponyville Mercy Hospital could take a look," suggested Twilight.
  707. >"Yeah, I guess so."
  708. >You clear your throat.
  709. >They both finally take notice of you.
  710. "I'll be fine."
  711. >"How can you say that?" asked Twilight. "Fluttershy told me about what was wrong with you yesterday and the night before."
  712. >"Yeah, Anonymous," said Fluttershy. "I saw you with my own eyes. Even this morning. You are anything but okay."
  713. "I told you I was feeling better."
  714. >"I- ..." she stopped and thought.
  715. >This was true.
  716. >But you were still not in the best condition today.
  717. --
  718. >Twilight was growing ever more intrigued with you.
  719. >She walked up to you and stared into your eyes, studying you.
  720. "Can I help you?"
  721. >"Huh? Oh, sorry."
  722. >She took a step back.
  723. >"I was just curious at how you are recovering so quickly from such a horrible illness. It's only been one night."
  724. >You shrug.
  725. "That's just how it is, I suppose."
  726. >She wasn't satisfied with that answer.
  727. >"That may be, but there's more to it than that."
  728. >Her horn begins to glow.
  729. >Whatever she was trying to do wasn't working in the slightest.
  730. >Your headache came back, about as bad as it was the night before.
  731.
  732. >Twilight lowered her head and backed away.
  733. >"Heheh, whoops. Sorry."
  734. >Hold on just a God damned second.
  735. >Did she just hurt you with magic?
  736. >Since when are you able to even be touched by magic this bad?
  737. >Okay, now you're interested also.
  738. >If Twlight doesn't notice this as well, you're going to have to bring it up to her later.
  739. >However, this is magic you're talking about.
  740. >She is sure to notice.
  741. >Perhaps you should experiment some more...
  742. >But no fire spells this time...
  743.
  744. >Fluttershy and Twilight discusses your status a little while longer before Twilight said her goodbyes.
  745. >She left a few books for Fluttershy in case she needed them.
  746. >She wouldn't need them.
  747. >As you've tried to tell them already, you're fine.
  748. >But it was Fluttershy's motherly nature that seemed to make her oblivious to the fact that you knew what you were talking about.
  749. >It could be your history of saying you're fine, when in fact, you are not.
  750. >You just shrug it off.
  751. >As long as she doesn't try to feed you anything too crazy, it shouldn't be that bad.
