  1. >It had been 3 days since you returned to Fluttershy.
  2. >You both made it a point to visit Ponyville together at least once a day.
  3. >You wanted the citizens to know that you are here to stay and that they have nothing to fear in you.
  4. >Public displays of affection from Fluttershy were often.
  5. >She wanted everypony to know that you were her special somepony, no matter what.
  6.
  7. >Today you and Fluttershy were to visit the library.
  8. >You needed something to do in your down time and a book or two seemed like the best plan.
  9. >Perhaps an epic poem of sorts.
  10. >Maybe they have a ponified version of the Odyssey, Beowulf, or the Divine Comedy.
  11. >You would probably squee with joy like Fluttershy if such a thing were to exist.
  12. >You do recall Twilight mentioning Tartartus to you before.
  13. >Unless it's a comepletely different place compared to Earth, there's no doubt in you mind such a book would exist.
  14.
  15. >You and Fluttershy entered the library together.
  16. >The first one you met was Spike, Twilights assistant.
  17. >He was a little baby dragon, not much taller than about 2 feet.
  18. >Twilight had told him of your monstrous strength compared to some of the ponies and also about your magic resistance to rival that of an adult dragon.
  19.
  20. >You never recall showing any kind of super strength.
  21. >Your magic resistance is very odd too, but you just chalk it up to being from a non-magic world.
  22. >He had eventually warmed up to you and now one of your best friends.
  23. >Even though Twilight is still very suspicious of you and your intentions, she allows you to come around.
  24. --
  25. >"Anon! What are you doing here?"
  26. >You crouch down and hold your hand down low for a "high five" from Spike.
  27. "How's it going Spike."
  28. >He slaps you hand.
  29.
  30. >That was a concept that he took a little bit to grasp onto at first.
  31. >You tried to give him a textbook explanation of what it was.
  32. "It's used as a greeting or to congratulate a good friend."
  33. >He understood, but laughed at you for thinking he was over the simpleton way of doing things.
  34. >At least he's not so smart he doesn't have any common sense.
  35. >Unlike Twilight who was always over-thinking the smallest problem.
  36.
  37. >"Hey Spike I have a favor to ask you."
  38. >"Anything you need buddy."
  39. >You explained to him each of the three books you wanted.
  40. >You asked if they had anything in stock that was remotely similar.
  41.
  42. >"Uh... I don't think so Anon. You would have to ask Twilight."
  43. "Damn it."
  44. >You really don't want to speak to Twilight.
  45. >You had learned in the past few days that she took her job as a scholar WAY too seriously.
  46. >She felt she needed to document everything.
  47. >And since you were an unknown in this world, she naturally took an interest in you.
  48.
  49. "Well that sucks."
  50. >You think for a minute.
  51. "Do you mind if we just look around then?"
  52. >"No problem Anon!"
  53. >You rub his head and walk off with Fluttershy.
  54. --
  55. >You browse the library with Fluttershy.
  56. "So what would you like to read sometime?"
  57. >"Oh, I don't really mind."
  58.
  59. >There's that Fluttershy you used to know.
  60. >She started calming down when you came back and was going back to her shy ways, but still remained confident in herself.
  61. >She still didn't like speaking to strangers.
  62. >Or speaking loud at all.
  63. >But when the situation calls, she will not be walked over.
  64. >She says that when your around, she gets a huge confidence boost.
  65. >You try to think by what she means by that.
  66. >Either because she loves you and you give her the strength to go beyond her shyness, or she uses your bad reputation and towering height to intimidate the other ponies.
  67. >It was probably the former, but you got a chuckle out of the latter.
  68.
  69. "Now don't you be pulling that. I'm the shy and indecisive one remember?"
  70. >She giggled at that.
  71. >It's true after all.
  72. >Just because you were making more visits to Ponyville with Fluttershy at your side, you had the same fear of talking to random strangers as Fluttershy.
  73. >You also very indecisive and usually didn't care about most things.
  74.
  75. >Fluttershy could ask what you want for dinner.
  76. >"I don't care," is all you would respond with.
  77. >You could ask Fluttershy if she wanted to go for a walk or go sit by the pond.
  78. >"I'll do what you want, if that's okay," would be her response.
  79. >You consistently irritated each other like this but it was always fun.
  80. --
  81. >You had pulled a few books out and placed them on a table.
  82. >A few topics had piqued your interest as you looked around.
  83. >Your fascination with the moon and stars naturally drew you to a book on Astronomy.
  84. >Equestrian folklore was another interesting topic.
  85. >A book on Equestrian myths and another on the history of Equestria drew your attention as well.
  86. >Geez, you were almost as much as a scholar as Twilight, just not obsessed.
  87.
  88. >You contemplate checking them all out, but you didn't bring a bag from home to carry anything with.
  89. >You should only settle with one for now, and that should be something you can share with Fluttershy.
  90. >Since neither of you can decide on something, you're just gonna have to risk something she may or may not like.
  91. >Even if you don't like it yourself.
  92.
  93. "Meh... screw it."
  94. >You grab a copy of Daring Do and the Griffon's Goblet from the pile.
  95. >Looks like Indiana Jones, must be Indiana Jones.
  96. >You don't know how Fluttershy feels about suspense and action stories, but it was worth finding out.
  97. >You spin around with the book in hand and walk straight into Twilight.
  98. --
  99. >'Oh crap'
  100. "Hey Twilight."
  101. >You act as cool as you can, but you know this unicorn is insane.
  102. >She is after all trying to get you to submit to experiments and study.
  103. >You also recall a story from Spike of how she fucking snapped because she was a little tardy submitting a report to her mentor.
  104.
  105. "Sorry about that. I didn't know you were standing there."
  106. >"Oh that's okay Anon. Are you finding everything okay?"
  107. >She eyes the pile of books on the table behind you.
  108. >You feel very uncomfortable right now.
  109. >You like Twilight, and you want to make amends for the trouble caused before.
  110. >She doesn't trust you a bit and is always sticking her nose in every little thing you do.
  111.
  112. "Yes I did, thank you."
  113. >You step past her but stop immediately.
  114. "Oh wait I almost forgot!"
  115. >You proceed to explain the books you explained to Spike a few minutes earlier.
  116. >She grew even more suspcious.
  117. >What did she think you had some malicious plan that had to do with learning these sort of things?
  118.
  119. >"No we don't. Sorry Anon. Your best bet would be to try that book on Equestrian myths on the table there."
  120. "Yeah I kind of figured... Thanks anyways."
  121. >You go back to grab the myth book and continue back towards the front.
  122. >You'll just have to come back for the history and astronomy books another time.
  123. "Nice to see you Twilight."
  124.
  125. >You go up to the front counter to check out the books.
  126. >Spike happily obliges you.
  127. >You call out for Fluttershy.
  128. "Hey Fluttershy, it's time to go!"
  129.
  130. >You spot Fluttershy walking out of the children's section of the library.
  131. >Well now you know what she likes.
  132. >Daring Do probably won't be as sweet as some of those other books, but hopefully she will enjoy it.
  133. --
  134. >Check one down for the library trip.
  135. >Next on the list: visit Rarity.
  136. >She said she had a surprise for you.
  137.
  138. >You and Fluttershy walk through town together.
  139. >You hear the whispers and laughs of the other ponies.
  140. >You don't care so much of what they think of you, but what about Fluttershy?
  141. >You look over to see Fluttershy walking tall and proud next to you.
  142. >You know she's happy to be with you.
  143. >She has told you many times when you expressed your concern about the other ponies' gossip.
  144. >But in the back of your mind you feel like its just a facade.
  145.
  146. >Your slight fear of strangers causes you to walk with your hands in your pockets and eyes toward the ground.
  147. >Maybe if you didn't look interested, the other ponies would not see a reason to talk to you.
  148. >At least on earth you just needed headphones with no music and you could avoid conversation that way.
  149.
  150. >In your peripherals you saw somepony standing in your path.
  151. >You look up to spot a mint green pony with a light grey mane standing in front of you with a smile.
  152. >You make eye contact and return the smile.
  153. >She opens her mouth to speak, but a cream-colored pony with a dark blue mane ran up and snatched her away before she could get a word out.
  154. >Your smile dropped into a frown.
  155. "Oh... Alright then."
  156. >You continue your walk to the Carousel Boutique.
  157. >You tend to mind your manners around Rarity, and it would be rude to keep her waiting all day.
  158. --
  159. >The tinkling of the door bell signaled your entrance.
  160. >Rarity was standing at the front counter.
  161. >Shouldn't she be working in the back?
  162. >What ever she has in store for you is more important than whatever orders she was probably backed up on.
  163.
  164. >"Fluttershy! Anonymous! Welcome darlings!"
  165. "Good afternoon Rarity. Fluttershy tells me you have a gift for me today?"
  166. >"I most certainly do you wonderful stallion!"
  167. >And with that she takes off into another room.
  168. >Fluttershy doesn't seem to mind your's and Rarity's little exchanges.
  169. >She knows you're just playing into Rarity's flirty and classy personality.
  170.
  171. "So do I get any hints on what it is?"
  172. >"Sorry, I told her I wouldn't say anything."
  173. "It's probably the clothes I ordered last week. She said it'll be about a week or two before they would be done."
  174. >Fluttershy didn't say anything.
  175. >She looked up at you and you looked down at her.
  176. >You passed a smile back and forth.
  177. >Her gaze drifted from you to somewhere behind you.
  178. >You saw her eyes grow wide and she gave out a shriek.
  179. --
  180. >There was a loud growl.
  181. >All of a sudden you vision went black.
  182. >You were just devoured by a large monster.
  183. >You yell and squirm, trying to get away.
  184. >You eventually break through the beast's stomach and roll clear.
  185.
  186. >You stand up and take a battle stance.
  187. "Have at thee beast!"
  188. >You charge the monster and tackle it.
  189. >You go right through it and land on the other side, with a surprise in your arms.
  190.
  191. >Make that three.
  192. "To kill such a horrifying beast, one must destroy its many hearts until it stops squirming!"
  193. >You bring your hands up in a menacing fashion.
  194. >Screams of terror fill the boutique as you bring your claws down into the three little fillies lying on the floor in front of you.
  195. --
  196. >Cries of laughter fill the boutique.
  197. >There was your laughter, Fluttershy's, and the Cutie Mark Crusaders'.
  198. >You tickle the little fillies right in the belly.
  199. >Ponies sure love a good belly rub.
  200. >But only 2 hands vs 3 fillies can only get you so far.
  201.
  202. >Sweetie Belle had slipped away and ran around the side.
  203. >She hopped on the counter behind you and dove.
  204. >She let out a terrifying war cry as she flew through the air.
  205. >She landed on your head and covered your eyes with her hooves.
  206.
  207. >Now blinded, the other 2 fillies have their chance to escape.
  208. >They backed up and charged right for you, hitting you simultaneously square in the chest and knocking you over.
  209.
  210. "Aww... looks like you got me this time."
  211. "Hurk... blagh..."
  212. >You preteded to die, threw your arms up and stuck your tongue out.
  213.
  214. >They stood on your chest triumphantly.
  215. >"CUTIE MARK CRUSADER MONSTER HUNTERS WIN AGAIN!"
  216. >You laugh and sit up, pushing all three of them into your lap.
  217. >You gave them all a big group hug.
  218. >You loved these little fillies.
  219.
  220. >They were among the first from the general population to accept you as a citizen of Ponyville.
  221. >They didn't see you as a monster, but a mistreated outcast like themselves.
  222. >They had told you of the ridicule they suffered from their lack of a cutie mark.
  223. >They had also been the ones to explain to you what a cutie mark really was.
  224. >And here you thought they were just tattoos.
  225. >The Cutie Mark Crusaders were also the only ones you allowed to call you a monster, and only if you were playing a game.
  226. --
  227. "So what is that, 2-1 your lead?"
  228. >"It sure is!" exclaimed Applebloom.
  229. >"We're getting really good at this!" Scootaloo shouted excitedly.
  230. "Sweetie Belle saved you on that one."
  231. >You grab Sweetie Belle and messed up her mane.
  232. "Your a slippery little ninjapony."
  233. >She blushed.
  234. >"Thanks Mr. Anonymous. Now can you please put me down? Your messing up my mane."
  235. >You set her back down on the floor.
  236.
  237. >"Sweetie Belle!"
  238. >Everyone jumped and turned towards the back room where Rarity was standing in the doorway.
  239. >"You better pick up this mess right now missy!"
  240. "Uh oh. Looks like were in trouble."
  241. >You push the fillies off you and stand.
  242. >The blanket, mop bucket, and broom they used as a costume was in a pile in the center of the room.
  243. >It wasn't really a mess, but it's probably best not to piss off Rarity.
  244.
  245. "Sorry girls. We'll play later okay?"
  246. >"Okay Mr. Anonymous! We'll see you later!"
  247. >They grabbed their makeshift costume and ran upstairs.
  248. >You don't really like being called 'Mr. Anonymous' but they hold a great deal of respect for you than to simply call you Anon.
  249. --
  250. "Well then,"
  251. >You clap your hands once.
  252. "Rarity, you find what you wanted?"
  253. >"Yes I did Anon. I'm sure you will absolutely love it!"
  254. >She levitated over a small paper-wrapped gift.
  255. >It's definitely not the order of clothes from before.
  256. "What is it?"
  257. >"I am not going to spoil the surprise for you darling. Just open it!"
  258.
  259. >You tear apart the wrapping paper and pull out your gift.
  260. >Its a black, long-sleeved shirt.
  261. >On the front is the face of a grey wolf in front of a large moon.
  262. >In the background is the silohouette of another wolf on a cliff howling at the moon with a few pine trees on the cliff as well.
  263. >The empty black spaces on the front of you arms and chest contained some scattered white dots to represent stars.
  264. >On the back of your shoulders are the words "Lone Wolf" in a U shape going across your upper back.
  265.
  266. >Damn Rarity and her gossip.
  267. >Fluttershy must tell her everything about you.
  268. >Of course you can't expect anything different from her.
  269. >She's like a teenage girl who just got her first boyfriend.
  270. >Well you are of course but that's besides the point.
  271.
  272. >Aside from the minor information leak, this is an amazing gift.
  273. >You fold the shirt up and set it down.
  274. >You walk over to Rarity and give her a tight hug.
  275. "Thank you."
  276. >"You're quite welcome darling."
  277.
  278. >"Anon there's one other thing."
  279. "What's that?"
  280. >"Fluttershy says you are looking for a job to try and pay for a bigger house. If you want, there's a position I think you could fill here if you would like."
  281. >Damn those weekly spa days...
  282. --
  283. >You glance over at Fluttershy with an annoyed look on your face.
  284. >She smiles and rubs the back of her head with a nervous laugh.
  285. >"Heheh..."
  286. >You suppose it's not a big deal.
  287. >You never told her to keep anything a secret.
  288. >And you were looking for a job after all.
  289. >And what good would it do to keep that a secret?
  290. >However you did want to try to find one yourself.
  291. >But if it comes to you, that's probably just as good.
  292.
  293. "Yeah I am, actually."
  294. >"Splendid! I think I have the perfect place for you!"
  295. >Her face is growing increasingly excited.
  296. "What's that?"
  297. >"Well, you know how much I enjoy your music, right?"
  298. "Yeah?"
  299. >"Well I was just wondering. Could you sit outside the boutique and play to attract business?"
  300. "So advertising, right?"
  301. >"Well yes. But it would also make this place a little more fun to work in if I had music."
  302. "Uhm... I don't know."
  303.
  304. >What are you saying?
  305. >It's a job opportunity and you're thinking of denying it?
  306. >"Anonymous, darling, if you're worried about the other ponies, don't be. You wouldn't be doing anything wrong. And also they would probably be curious enough to walk over and listen! You may even make a few bits on the side from tips!"
  307. >Crap.
  308. >All very valid reasons to take the job.
  309. >You would be pretty stupid to deny it now.
  310. "Sure I'll give it a shot."
  311. >Rarity squeed with joy and gave you a hug.
  312.
  313. >You and Fluttershy gave your thanks and goodbyes as you left the boutique.
  314. --
  315. >"Please don't be mad at me."
  316. "What?"
  317. >You stop and look at Fluttershy.
  318. >"I'm sorry I told her those things."
  319. "Why would you be sorry? I never asked you to keep them a secret."
  320. >You give her a quick kiss on the cheek.
  321. >She perked up instantly.
  322. "Don't worry about it. I know your excited about being in a relationship. I don't expect anything different."
  323. >She was relieved.
  324. >You picked her up and put her on your back piggy-back style.
  325. >She laughed and pretended to be riding you as if a human was riding a horse.
  326. >A little ironic you thought.
  327.
  328. >She was like a child.
  329. >And this didn't bother you in the least.
  330. >She was a child at play, but a mother at home.
  331. >She was always looking to take care of you in every way.
  332. >Once you tripped and scraped you knee on a walk.
  333. >She was there in a heartbeat to look after you.
  334. >It was only a scratch, but she took it to heart.
  335. >And the others said she was corrupt?
  336. >Whatever they were talking about, you couldn't see it.
  337. --
  338. >You and Fluttershy needed to stop at the market to get some more groceries.
  339. >Being away for a few days and eating next to nothing caused you to eat over half of her stores in a single night.
  340. >Also she was out of waffle mix, and you were NOT about to go without that for any amount of time.
  341. >You would need to stop at Sugarcube Corner to pick up the mix, but there's a few ingredients you need from the market.
  342.
  343. >Main ingredient: Cherries.
  344. >Cherry waffles, cherry pie, cherry-flavored drinks, you name it.
  345. >You were about to buy out the entire stall if you could help it.
  346. >Fluttershy was a little aprehensive about going to the cherry stall at first.
  347. >She told you how the vendor tried to take advantage of her th last time she was there by making her pay 10 bits for a single cherry.
  348. >Oh hell no.
  349. >You would let Fluttershy make the deal as the vendor will probably run if you approached him alone.
  350. >Plus with you there, she will have nothing to worry.
  351. >You can put that guy in his place just by being there.
  352. --
  353. >"That'll be 25 bits."
  354. >'You son of a bitch...'
  355. >25 bits for 10 cherries?
  356. >That's insane!
  357. >You stood to the side to watch Fluttershy work.
  358. >Fluttershy was trying to argue with him, but he wasn't having any of it.
  359.
  360. >"I won't give you anymore than 15 bits for these cherries."
  361. >"It's 25 bits miss. Take it or leave it."
  362. >You agreed with Fluttershy.
  363. >2.5 bits each?
  364. >Granted they were some pretty big cherries.
  365. >Something like three times the size of Earth cherries.
  366. >But that was still outrageous.
  367.
  368. >Fluttershy was trying, but this guy was a real prick.
  369. >You decide to step in.
  370. >All you do is simply walk over and crouch down next to Fluttershy.
  371. >You speak with the most commanding voice you can muster.
  372. "Fifteen bits. You are not getting anything more. I don't suppose you have a problem with that?"
  373. >It worked.
  374. >The vendor immediately backed down and stammered as he spoke.
  375. >"Oh... uh n-no s-sir. Fifteen bits is a g-good p-price."
  376. >He handed over a bag of 10 cherries and you tossed your money on the counter.
  377. "Much appreciated sir. You have a good day now."
  378. >You stand and walk away with Fluttershy, bag of cherries in hand.
  379.
  380. >"I'm sorry. I tried but he wasn't listening."
  381. "Don't worry about it. He's just trying to rob you. I can't stand for that."
  382. >She smiled up at you and hugged your leg.
  383. >"I love you."
  384. --
  385. >You had arrived at Sugarcube Corner.
  386. >You held the front door open for Fluttershy.
  387. "Ladies first."
  388. >She smiled and walked on through.
  389. >You followed, but something was wrong.
  390. >Pinkie Pie wasn't at the front counter.
  391. >That's wierd.
  392. >The door bell should've caused her to spring up immediately.
  393. >You call out to her.
  394. "Hey Pink- Ah!"
  395. >"HEY ANON!"
  396. >She threw her face in front of yours.
  397. >So close your eyes were milimeters apart.
  398. >You jumped back in total surprise.
  399. >She was hanging upside down from the ceiling.
  400. >This is the one pony who can defy whatever laws of physics apply in Equestria.
  401.
  402. >You are clutching your chest, trying to prevent the impending heart attack.
  403. "Pinkie Pie..."
  404. >You are breathing hard.
  405. "Please... Please don't... do that..."
  406. >"Okie dokie lokie!"
  407. >She turned over and fell to the floor.
  408. >Her hooves squeaked as she landed.
  409.
  410. >"Are you here for that party yet?"
  411. >You finally calmed down.
  412. "No Pinkie. Actually, do you have any waffle mix for sale?"
  413. >You didn't even finish before she was gone and back with a box with a waffle on the front.
  414. >"I sure do, you silly filly!"
  415. >You snatch the box from her.
  416. "Freakin' sweet."
  417. --
  418. >"Sweet! You're a riot Anon!"
  419. >Okay that wasn't really a joke, but alright.
  420. "So how much for the box?"
  421. >"Five bits!"
  422. >Ouch.
  423. >The cherry deal alone put a large dent in your wallet.
  424. >And after the other groceries, you weren't left with much.
  425. >But it's totally worth it.
  426. >With Fluttershy's amazing cooking skills, and about a weeks worth of waffle mix to split between the two of you, it's a damn good deal.
  427.
  428. >You look past Pinkie and spot Fluttershy quietly perusing the bakery's many options.
  429. >You walk up behind her with Pinkie and crouch down.
  430. "See anything you like?"
  431. >She fliched, not expecting to be talked to.
  432. >"Oh, um... no that's okay."
  433. >Wrong answer.
  434. >You and Pinkie began pointing out everything that looked appetizing.
  435. >Pinkie was actually going down the row pointing out everything, but that's just Pinkie.
  436. >Gummy bears, chocolate/peanut butter bunnies, ice cream cakes, cherry pie, almond fudge-
  437. >Pie...
  438. >You stopped yourself and began to drool.
  439. >You can't remember the last time you ever had a warm cherry pie.
  440.
  441. >Fluttershy and Pinkie Pie stared at you like you were insane.
  442. >Fluttershy looked to Pinkie.
  443. >"I think we're gonna get that pie as well."
  444. >"You got it Fluttershy!"
  445. >Pinkie Pie zipped behind the counter and pulled the pie from the display.
  446. >You drop the box on the counter.
  447. --
  448. >Pinkie drop them in a bag and handed them over the counter, along with 5 bits.
  449. "Whoa, whoa, whoa... what? What's with the money? I thought we were supposed to pay you?"
  450. >"You silly filly! Don't you remember? I never payed you for those berries before! And I did promise you a free treat didn't I?"
  451. >Ah...
  452. >Yes she did...
  453. >Yes she did...
  454.
  455. "Pinkie Pie... You are now my best friend."
  456. >She gave you a smile so big you thought she was gonna tear her face.
  457. >"Of course I am! I try to be everyponies' best friend!"
  458. >Yes she does.
  459. >She's been trying to throw you a party but you've been denying one for a while.
  460. >"I don't like going to parties" was your reason.
  461. >It's only a matter of time before you are forced into it.
  462. >Either by Pinkie Pie or Fluttershy.
  463. >You recall Fluttershy telling you they were not optional.
  464. >So what was Pinkie doing accepting your rejections?
  465. --
  466. >It was getting pretty late.
  467. >You gave a very gracious hug and a kiss on the top of the head to Pinkie and left with Fluttershy.
  468. >You now had 2 bags of food and 2 books to carry home.
  469. >Fluttershy offered to carry something.
  470. "No I got it."
  471. >You only held on to this belief until you got out of ponyville.
  472. "Okay my arm hurts now. Please take something!"
  473. >Fluttershy giggles and took the bag of cherries from you.
  474. >The lightest thing you had.
  475. "Aww come on... Really?"
  476. >She laughed.
  477. >"Is my big, strong Anon having trouble carrying a few books and some food?"
  478. >Oh she did not just insult your masculinity...
  479. >Time to man up and get home... quickly...
  480. >These bags feel like theyre cutting into your hand though.
  481.
  482. >You finally make it home and run to the kitchen.
  483. >You drop the food and books on the counter and start flailing your left hand around.
  484. "Owowowow! How is it that a pie and a box of waffle mix are so heavy!"
  485. >Fluttershy casually walks in after you and sets the cherries ever so gingerly on the counter.
  486. >She can't help but laugh at your child-like behavior.
  487. >"Let me have a look."
  488. >You wimper and hold out your hand, palm up.
  489. >It's a little red, but no cuts.
  490. >She gives your hand a kiss.
  491. >"Does that feel better?"
  492. >You respond with a smart remark and a smile.
  493. "Thank you, mommy."
