  1. >You awake the next morning.
  2. >The weather was incredibly pleasant here thankfully, since you  passed out outside the carriage.
  3. >However, your sleeping conditions were less than ideal, and you were incredibly stiff.
  4. >The cracking of joints confirmed this.
  5. >But at least you had a blanket and pillow.
  6. >Wait.
  7. >Did she?...
  8. >Well, it had to have been her, unless that’s a natural occurrence in this forest, which you aren’t ruling out.
  9. >Trixie steps outside, cheerful as can be.
  10. >”Ahhh, what a lovely morning to seize the day isn’t it?”
  11. “Someone’s chipper.”
  12. >”And why shouldn’t I be? Today is going to be magnificent, nothing like awing a crowd to lift one’s spirits.”
  13. “I guess so.  Thanks, by the way, for the blanket and pillow.”
  14. >”You should feel so honored that I decided to spare such magnificent garments on a whim, even at the risk of them collecting hair and blood.  Speaking of which….”
  15. >She grabs your arm and looks it over roughly but thoroughly.
  16. >”I trust this won’t be a hindrance?”
  17. “If that’s your way of asking how it feels, then it’s fine, just sore.”
  18. >”Good, because we have lots to do and no time to do i-“
  19. >There’s a low grumbling, followed by silence.
  20. >”Oh please tell me those wolves haven’t come back.”
  21. “Uh…sorry, that was my stomach…”
  22. >Trixie looks to your stomach, then up to you, with an agitated face.
  23. >She sighs and goes back into her house.
  24. >There’s a lot of rustling.
  25. >”I swear you….just what –are- you anyway?”  she asks as she pops her head out.
  26. “Speaking generally, I’m a human. Think evolved ape.”
  27. >”Hmph.  Some evolution that was, you can’t even control your own stomach.”
  28. >You roll your eyes.
  29. >She comes back out with a bowl and what appears to be oats.
  30. >A breakfast burrito would be too much to ask?
  31. >”That’s all I have, so make the most of it.”
  32. >You don’t even bother asking for a spoon, and resort to stuffing handfuls in your maw.
  33. “Sho whas da plahn?”
  34. >”The ‘plahn’ is simple.  We get out of this forest, get to P0nyville, put on a performance that nop0ny will ever forget, I gain the adoration of the town, crush Twilight Sparkle, and proceed to become the greatest performer Equestria has ever known!”
  35. >Ok there’s some gaps in that plan, but you let her have her moment.
  36. “Nnnneat. What ooo need me t’ do?”
  37. >”First I need you to stop talking with your mouth full.  Second, you’re going to help me put on a show. You’ll be my servant, err, assistant.  Yes, assistant.  We’re going to leave them positively stunned by the time the act is through.”
  38. >You finish your bowl.
  39. “And then after that?”
  40. >”After that ….you can….do…whatever it is that you humans do I suppose?”
  41. >She hitches herself up and you two depart.
  42. “I take it not many around here have ever seen a human before?”
  43. >”I’m pretty sure nop0ny has ever even heard of one, hence why this will be spectacular.”
  44. “And then you just plan on letting me go?”
  45. >”Yes.”
  46. ”Letting me do whatever?”
  47. >”Yes.”
  48. “In a town that already doesn’t receive you very well?”
  49. >”Yes?...”
  50. "And you don't see anything wrong with that picture?"
  51. >"Nothing that concerns me, at least."
  52. >Yep, she’s crazy.
  53. “Well ok then.”
  54. >But again, no alternatives.
  55. >The trip is quiet and peaceful surprisingly.
  56. >It’s a nice change of pace, and after another hour of walking, you come upon a town a half mile away or so.
  57. “P0nyville?”
  58. >”That’s it. I’m positively giddy with anticipation.  Come, let’s go.”
  59. >Trixie begins to take a step.
  60. “You really want me to just waltz in with you?”
  61. >She pauses.
  62. >”….Good point….”
  63. >She turns and looks at her cart.
  64. >Then back to you.
  65. “Ah Christ...”
  66.
  67.
  68. >Good Lord is this cramped.
  69. >Why did you say anything, regardless of how good a point it was?
  70. >She was busy setting up her stage.
  71. >You wanted to fart so bad, partly because of the oats, partly cause that’d be hysterical.
  72. >But that’d likely kill you, so you hold off.
  73. >Finally there’s a knock at the door.
  74. >”OK, you can come out and make your way behind the curtain.  When I give the word, make your appearance.  And put some emotion into it, I want to see them tremble.”
  75. “Terrifying.  Got it.”
  76. >She makes her way onto the center stage and you assume the position behind the curtain.
  77. >If nothing else this will be fun.
  78.
  79.
  80. >You are Twilight
  81. >And, once again, Trixie has decided to make her ‘grand debut’.
  82. >Why can’t she just try walking into town normally and saying hello?
  83. >That’d be too easy you guess.
  84. >”Is that mare at it again?”
  85. “Yes Applejack, it looks that way…”
  86. >”You gonna kick her butt again Twilight?”  asked Dash.
  87. “No, I really don’t want it to come to that.  I think we should just watch how this plays out.”
  88. >”Well I certainly hope she doesn’t make a mess of things, Fluttershy and I were just at the spa.  It’d be a shame for it to have been a waste.”
  89. “I hope so too Rarity, I don’t feel like having to sort out her mess.”
  90. >You all make your way to the edge of the crowd, hoping to go unnoticed, and listen to her.
  91. >”Fillies and gentlecolts, prepare to feast your eyes and prepare to be amazed as the great and powerful Trixie showcases her immense talents!”
  92. >She shoots fireworks and sparks everywhere and the crowd ‘oooohs’ and ‘awwws’.
  93. >Seriously?
  94. >”Yes, my talents are impressive, but nothing compares a new magic that I have recently mastered, summoning.”
  95. >Trixie, mastering summoning magic?
  96. >You smirk at this, but try to suppress a laugh.
  97. >You don’t want to draw any attention.
  98. >She couldn’t summon her way out of a wet paper bag.
  99. >She seems oddly confident, though.
  100. >”I have summoned many creatures of all shapes and sizes.  Some of minute stature and hardly imposing, and some so grand and terrifying that your nightmares would seem like pleasant dreams.”
  101. >More ‘ooohs’ and murmuring from the crowd.
  102. >”In a moment, I shall bring forth one such creature for all of you to witness.  But this won’t be just any ordinary creature.  No, this one has never been seen and is completely unique.  Its power is far beyond your average summon and defies the laws of magic.”
  103. >Wow is she selling this.
  104. >You’re almost starting to believe her yourself.
  105. >”Now, without further ado…”
  106. >Trixie begins to charge her horn and is focused very intently on her platform.
  107. >She’s pouring a lot of magic into a circle…
  108. >”ANON FROM THE GREAT BEYOND, THE GREAT AND POWERFUL TRIXIE CALLS TO YOU!!!!!”
  109. >There’s a huge explosion of magic and smoke followed by an almost deafening boom.
  110. >She really went all out for this illusion.
  111. >Or at least, you were sure it was an illusion.
  112. >Until something started to appear
  113. >Something…big.
  114. >No, judging from the silhouette, it’s huge!
  115. >”Twilight, what is that thing?!”
  116. “I….I don’t know Rainbow.  It looks like a diamond dog o-or a minotaur, but bigger!!”
  117. >The crowd begins to step back, everyp0ny talking in a panic amongst each other.
  118. >How did she do this?
  119. >This is unbelievable, she actually managed to pull it off!
  120. >”aaaaaaAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAARRRRRRRRRRRRGH”
  121. >What has she done?
  122. >Can she even control this thing???
  123. >What if this turns onto the ursa minor fiasco again?
  124. >This is bad.
  125. >Her creature is trembling now and….hacking???
  126. >Is it having a coughing fit?
  127.
  128.
  129. >You are Anon.
  130. >So much for making a first impression.
  131. >You tried to make yourself look imposing by roaring, but your throat couldn’t handle that and the smoke.
  132. >Trying desperately to catch your breath, Trixie hisses at you.
  133. >”Would you compose yourself already?!  You’re going to ruin this!”
  134. >Glad to see she’s got her priorities.
  135. >As you regain your composure, you look out into the crowd.
  136. >They’re all in shock, so you must’ve done something right.
  137. >You raise your arms half way and dangle your fingers.
  138. “Grrr”
  139. >There are some gasps and a scream from the crowd.
  140. >Trixie was right, this is fun.
  141. >”BEHOLD.  The mighty Anon.  He comes from parts unknown.  His strength is second to none.  He knows no fear or remorse.  He’s a monster of untold power.”
  142. >Part of you wasn’t sure if you liked being called a monster, yet in this context it was pretty freaking cool.
  143. >Hey, don’t grin.
  144. >Keep your composure, have to look bad-ass.
  145. >”Now prepare to be amazed he demonstrates his power!”
  146. >Wait, what?
  147. >She’s looking at you now, expecting you to do something.
  148. >Ok, calm down Anon.
  149. >It's showtime.
  150. >...
  151. >...
  152. >OH DEAR GOD YOU DON’T KNOW ANY MOVES.
  153. >How could you have not come up with anything?!
  154. >Crap, this is bad.
  155. >You have to quickly think of something.
  156. >You look to Trixie, who’s looking at you expectantly.
  157. >That’s it!
  158. >You grab Trixie by her mane and tail and hurl her into the air.
  159. >She flails and screams in a panic as you run over and catch her just in time.
  160. >She trembles in your arms, wide eyed as the crowd stares in shock.
  161. >Then suddenly they start cheering.
  162. >All according to plan.
  163. >Anon you genius.
  164. >”Anon you idiot! What were you thinking?!” Trixie whispers harshly at you.
  165. “Absolutely nothing.”
  166. >She glares at you as you set her down.
  167. “Hey look, the crowd loved it.”
  168. >She turns to look at them, then smirks.
  169. >"B-Behold! With a mere thought, I was able to tell him to demonstrate his power on me, all the while commanding him to see to it I did not come to harm!"
  170. >She could sell refrigerators to eskimos.
  171. >Suddenly her focus turns towards the back of the crowd.
  172. >”Well well well, do my eyes deceive me or is that the one and only Twilight Sparkle I see in the back?”
  173. >The crowd goes silent and turns their attention towards the back to a group of p0nies.
  174. >A purple one steps forward and addresses Trixie.
  175. >”So Trixie, it looks like you managed to come up with a new trick.”
  176. >”Oh it’s more than just a trick, Sparkle.  This is something far beyond what YOU are capable of.”
  177. >”Is that so?  Well would you mind educating me on where you learned such a spell?”
  178. >”What’s this?  The great Twilight Sparkle asking ME about magic? “
  179. >She laughs.
  180. >“Oh how precious.  Well, even if I wanted to show you, there’s no way you could possibly fathom something as mysterious and ancient as this.”
  181. >Twilight begins to walk towards you.
  182. >”Or maybe this is just a hoax and that thing is just an over-sized diamond dog that you shaved and paid to follow you around.”
  183. >”What?! How dare you call Trixie a phony!”
  184. >”Then why don’t you give us a real demonstration of what it can do, you know, since you control it and all.”
  185. >Uh oh
  186. >You don’t like where this is going.
  187. >”Very well Twilight.  I challenge you to a magic duel!”
  188. >The crowd groans, muttering something about ‘not again’.
  189. >”This time, however, we use summons. You do know how to summon creatures don’t you?”
  190. >”Of course I do.  However different your creature may be, it’s still tied to your magic power, and I know I’m stronger than you.”
  191. >You try not to laugh.
  192. >She thinks you’re tied to Trixie.
  193. >She’s playing right into Trixie’s hand.
  194. >Or hoof.
  195. >Whatever.
  196. >She begins to cast, and a large runic circle appears.
  197. >A large wolf-like creature suddenly leaps out.  It’s pure purple with almost no features, save two bright eyes.
  198. >It’s actually pretty creepy to look at, but with no mouth, what exactly are you afraid of.
  199. >The beast roars.
  200. >Ooooh there’s the mouth…
  201. >”I choose the ethereal wolf. He has incredible tenacity and is hungry for a fight.”
  202. >You turn to Trixie, and huddle down to her.
  203. “I have to fight that thing?”
  204. >”Oh come now what’s the big deal?  You certainly didn’t have a problem with the timberwolves.”
  205. “They weren’t some ethereal wolf thing either.  That thing looks pissed.”
  206. >”Don’t worry.  I have a theory that you will be completely unharmed by anything she conjures up.”
  207. “Based on?”
  208. >”Just trust me ok?  If it doesn’t work out…..well let’s not think about that for now.”
  209. >You hang your head.
  210. >Why were you even doing this again?
  211. “Can I at least have a special name?”
  212. >”What?”
  213. “You know, ‘Anon the something something of something’, or something.”
  214. >”You can be serious…”
  215. “Pllleeeaaasssseee?”
  216. >You give her the sad puppy eyes.
  217. >*sigh* “Fine, just go already…”
  218. >”Are you finished strategizing with your pet?”
  219. >”Just trying to savor the moment before I defeat you. Anon the Enigmatic, get ready to attack.”
  220. >Anon the Enigmatic?
  221. >Yes, that will do just fine.
  222. >The hound takes off after you.
  223. >Trixie seemed confident that this thing wouldn’t be able to hurt you at all.
  224. >Well, she’d know more than you.
  225. >God let this work…
  226. >You bring your arms up to defend yourself.
  227. >The wolf makes contact with your arms.
  228. >There’s a shower of electricity everywhere.
  229. >Yet you don’t feel any pain.
  230. >You cast the beast off to the side, where it dissipates before it hits the ground.
  231. >Holy crap she was right.
  232. >Twilight is gawking at you.
  233. >”Wha?  What was that?!”
  234. >”AHHAHAHHA.  Oh poor Twilight, what’s the matter?  Your dog had a lot of bark but no bite. Care to try again?”
  235. >Twilight puts on a serious look.
  236. >”Fine.”
  237. >Three more runes appear, and three more wolves leap out.
  238. >They encircle you this time, Twilight is really focusing on controlling them.
  239. >Meanwhile Trixie’s horn glows but she wears a devious smile.
  240. >She really knows how to put on an act.
  241. >A wolf in front of you makes the first move.
  242. >You get ready to defend yourself , but you catch a glance to your right of another making a b-line for you.
  243. >You don’t take the bait,  and instead throw a punch to the second one.
  244. >Another fireworks display sends it flying back, sundering it to pure energy.
  245. >A weight crashes into your back,  the one behind you having latched on.
  246. >All this did was cause pain to it and you fling it overhead into the first one.
  247. >They lie in a heap and the third one disintegrates.
  248. >The initial one staggers upright, but before it can react, you grab it by the head with one hand, and squeeze until it too breaks down into its elements.
  249. >Once again, you turn to look at Twilight, who’s completely dumbfounded.
  250. >”That can’t be.  That’s impossible!”
  251. >”Apparently you didn’t listen when I said he defied the laws of magic.  His very being isn’t merely impervious to magic, it negates it entirely, including your little pets.”
  252. >The blue one spoke out.
  253. >”That’s not fair!  How’s she supposed to fight you if everything just gets wiped out like that?!”
  254. >”I’m sure the brilliant Twilight Sparkle can think of something to work around that.  Or she could just forfeit, also equally smart.”
  255. >”Oh you’d like that wouldn’t you?  No, I have a better idea. Applejack I need to borrow something.”
  256. >”What’s that Twi?”
  257. >”I’m going to need your apple stand and cart.  I promise I’ll pay you back.”
  258. >”Uhh…sure but fer once ah don’t think apples are gonna solve this here problem.”
  259. >”Don’t worry, I have an idea.”
  260. >Suddenly a crate is levitated in front of Twilight.
  261. >Next a fruit stand and large cart are pulled apart by magic, and the pieces begin to form around the crate.
  262. >Four long appendages take shape out of the scrap wood, one sticking to either side of the crate, the other two going on the bottom.
  263. >Finally, a bucket for a head completes the amalgamation.
  264. >Well.
  265. >That’s different.
  266. >Trixie finally speaks up.
  267. >”What is THAT?”
  268. >”Since I can’t touch him with magic directly, I’ll just have to use something physical instead.  I created this golem for just that purpose.”
  269. >”But that’s not a summon!”
  270. >”Oh but it is.  Think of it as a form of ethereal skeleton, and the wood makes up the ‘flesh’.”
  271. >Damn this girl is clever.
  272. >The golem stands about a head above you.
  273. >However, it’s slow, and you’re familiar with dealing with piles of walking sticks.
  274. >It lumbers toward you, and takes a swing.
  275. >You duck under it, trying to size it up more.
  276. >It attacks by swinging its arm again, but you throw a punch to block it.
  277. >Catching it on what would be the forearm, the blow sends you stumbling back, but not before cracking its arm.
  278. >Your knuckles are split open, but it’s just superficial damage so you shake it off.
  279. >It’s then you catch a glance of a purple glow inside the arm.
  280. >That’d be the skeleton, you guess.
  281. >It’s still made of magic, which means….
  282. >Idea.
  283. >You rush in at the golem, ducking another swipe.
  284. >Focusing on the joint of the left arm and crate, you kick off one of its legs and jump up.
  285. >You bring an elbow down right on the joint and are rewarded with a cracking of wood.
  286. >Not wasting time, you grab the splintered wood and rip it off, exposing the magical joint.
  287. >Latching onto this causes it to vanish, and the whole arm comes off.
  288. >The golem reels in pain and stumbles back.
  289. >It tries to come at you quickly, but you use the lumber of its former arm as a bat and smash its chest.
  290. >This yields another glimpse at the core of the beast.
  291. >While the golem is trying to compose itself, you run full tilt at it.
  292. >Within feet of it, you jump up and lead with your feet.
  293. >Legs pulled back tight, you explode them out right at the heart with a dropkick.
  294. >You break through the weakened exterior and make solid contact with the core.
  295. >Another crackle of energy and the golem falls backward.
  296. >You hop up and stand over it.
  297. >A single solid punch to the same core cause a burst of energy, then nothing, as all the debree lies motionless.
  298. >Twilight screams in pain and grabs her horn, the blowback obviously reaching her.
  299. >“Twilight!”
  300. >Her friends rush to her aid.
  301. >You stand straight and dust yourself off.
  302. >Trixie looks on in shock as it dawns on her that she actually won.
  303. >She composes herself and addresses her fallen foe.
  304. >”I told you I had gotten stronger Twilight, and now you see first hoof.”
  305. >The blue one addresses her again.
  306. >”You cheated!  There’s no way you told that thing to fight like that!”
  307. >”Of course you'd think that, but the fact is that I’m just that in tune with him that I can issue even complex commands with ease. For example, Anon, laugh derisively at Twilight.”
  308. “Ha. Ahaha.  Hahaha.”
  309. >”Fine! You beat Twilight, now pack up that monster and get out of town!”
  310. >”Ah ah ah,  Not just yet.  There’s still one more thing left to do.”
  311. >Trixie narrows her eyes at Twilight.
  312. >”Anon, attack Twilight.”
  313. >What?
  314. “…What?”
  315. >”Don’t worry it’s not like she can fight back.”
  316. >She’s serious?
  317. >This time the orange one with the hat interjects.
  318. >”Now hold up!  Y'all won, leave Twilight alone!”
  319. >”I’ve waited too long for this moment, and I intend to enjoy every second of it.”
  320. >”Horseapples! I outta come over there and-"
  321. >”Applejack it’s ok, I can do this.  I’m not giving in to her.”
  322. >”Twi ya can’t do this!  Let us help ya fight em!”
  323. >”No, I won’t put any of you in harm’s way.  This is my duel.”
  324. >This girl has a lot of heart.
  325. >It’s a shame to see her like this.
  326. >”How noble of you Twilight, I’ll give you that.  However, it’s foolish.  Anon, go.”
  327. “No.”
  328. >”What?  What do you mean ‘no’?  I gave you an order now do it!”
  329. “No.”
  330. >”But-But why not?!”
  331. “I don’t hit girls, even of different species.”
  332. >”Well that’s certainly chivalrous of you but this is a duel!”
  333. “Ya, between you and her.  I beat her creatures, so my part is done.  You want to fight her, you do it yourself.”
  334. >Trixie is stammering trying to collect her thoughts.
  335. >”What’s the matter Trixie. Having a hard time controlling your special pet?”
  336. >Well Twilight got her spunk back.
  337. >You sigh.
  338. ”I’m not her ‘pet’. I was lost in the woods for days and happened to find her stranded.  I agreed to help her if she got me out of the forest.  I’m no magical being, the only thing special about me is apparently magic doesn't work on me. Don't ask why, I don't know.  Other than that, I’m just some schmuck trying to find his way home.”
  339. >”You fool! You’re going to ruin everything!”
  340. “Trixie this was a stupid idea to begin with.  Just what were you going to do if you succeeded here?  Go on and talk about how you summoned a super special creature and never actually do it again?  Come on, this has gone on long enough. You had your moment, just quit while you're ahead.”
  341. >Trixie is about to say something when Twilight cuts her off
  342. >”You….”
  343. >You turn to look at Twilight.
  344. >She looks……upset.
  345. >”CHEATER!!! This whole time, you never actually were doing anything! You never used ANY magic at all did you?!?! “
  346. >She rants on.
  347. >”Of all the no good, dirty tricks!  You really are a talent-less hack!  You have no right to call yourself a magician and are a disgrace to all unicorns!"
  348. >Twilight is simmering with rage as she walks forward.
  349. >She’s got an almost demonic aura about her.
  350. >Trixie is starting to falter.
  351. >”You’re nothing more than a big fake, a phony, you…you… NAG!”
  352. >There’s a gasp.
  353. >Trixie winces and looks down, you can’t see her eyes below her hat, but you notice a shimmer.
  354. >She’s starting to cry.
  355. >Now you’re starting to feel bad for her.
  356. >A white unicorn with a purple perm speaks up.
  357. >”Twilight!!!  I know you’re upset dear but there’s simply no need for such language!”
  358. >”No Rarity, I’m sick of her doing this!  If she’s so intent on dueling she could at least do it with integrity!”
  359. “Trixie…”
  360. >She finally speaks.
  361. >”Anon stand back.  I’m going to take your advice and deal with her myself.”
  362. >The ground around Trixie starts to shake.
  363. >”Twilight,  I can concede that maybe what I did was a little under-hoofed, however….”
  364. >Now SHE’S got that aura about her.
  365. >”I will –NOT- stand here and let you beRATE ME LIKE THAT!!!”
  366. >Those eyes.
  367. >They could make a mountain crumble.
  368. >You begin to step back.
  369. >The energy flowing around these two is scary, they don’t even have pupils with how bright their eyes are.
  370. >With a roar, both unleash a huge beam of blue and purple light that explodes on contact.
  371. >You can feel the terrible force, and quickly retreat further back.
  372. >This.
  373. >Is.
  374. >AWESOME.
  375. >They hurl bolt after bolt at each other, the ponies around scattering for cover.
  376. >It's like watching a cheesy anime, but real and without the three episodes of build up.
  377. “Oh if only I had some popcorn right now.”
  378. >”Here ya go!”
  379. “WAH.”
  380. >A pink mare pops up next to you holding a bag of popcorn, beaming a smile.
  381. “Uh..thanks…and you are?”
  382. >”My names Pinkie Pie!  I’m a good friend of Twilight’s. It’s nice to see a new face!”
  383. “Thank you. Ya I guess you coul- wow this is good popcorn- you could say I’m new.  Does this happen a lot here?”
  384. >”More often than it should…”
  385. >The four others that accompanied Twilight joined Pinkie, the orange one speaking next.
  386. >”Name’s Applejack.”
  387. “Nice to meet you.  Wish it could’ve been under different circumstances.”
  388. >As you finish a bolt whizzes by your head.
  389. “As you may have heard, my names Anon. I'm really sorry about causing such a ruckus.”
  390. >”We talked 'bout it and figured y'all were roped in ta this by Trixie.”
  391. >Two more explosions erupt between the two.
  392. >”Let me introduce ya ta mah friends.  This is Rarity.”
  393. >”Pleasure darling.  That was very gentlecoltly of you to refuse to fight Twilight.”
  394. “I couldn’t live with myself if I'd have actually gone after her.  She had no idea what she was getting into, it wasn't fair at all."
  395. >”Good for you for being civilized about it.”
  396. >”This here is Rainbow Dash.”
  397. >”Ahem.”
  398. >*sigh*”…The fastest flyer in Equestria…”
  399. >”That’s more like it.”
  400. >There’s a scream from Trixie.
  401. >”MY CAPE.  YOU’LL PAY FOR THAT, SPARKLE!”
  402. >”The one hiding behind her mane is Fluttershy.”
  403. >”I-It’s um…nice to meet …*squeak*”
  404. “I can see how she got her namesake.”
  405. >”I’m sorry, it’s just tha-“
  406. >She gasps, and you notice she’s staring at your one arm that was slashed.
  407. >Apparently it opened up during the fight with the golem.
  408. >”Oh my, are you ok??”
  409. “Ach, ya I’m fine.  This was from last night, I must’ve opened it again.”
  410. >”Wait here I’ll go get more bandages and some medicine.”
  411. “Oh no you don’t hav-“
  412. >She’s already off before you can finish.
  413. >”Don’t bother tryin’ ta change her mind, she’s gonna see ta that wound.  How’d ya get it anyway?”
  414. “Something called a timberwolf clawed my arm.”
  415. >”Timberwolf?  Really?”
  416. >A few more flashes of light.
  417. >”I swear to Celestia Trixie I’m going to use your horn as a BOOKMARK!”
  418. >"You ran into a timberwolf?" asked Rainbow.
  419. "Two actually."
  420. >"No way.  How'd you make it out of that one?"
  421. “Fought em off.  They break pretty easily, fortunately for me. That said I hope I never have to go through that again.”
  422. >She whistles.
  423. >”You’re something else, that’s for sure.”
  424. >”And ya already met Pinkie Pie.”
  425. >”Pinkamena  Diane Pie at your service for all your pastry party needs!”
  426. “Well it’s certainly a pleasure to meet you all.  But shouldn’t we be trying to stop them from killing each other?”
  427. >Rainbow shakes her head
  428. >”Nah let em go at it a little more.  They’ll tire themselves out, plus this is awesome to watch.”
  429. >Five minutes of furious fighting later, the two mares are standing opposite of each other, panting.
  430. >”Had enough...Twilight?”
  431. >”Why?  Finally… ready to … concede … Trixie?”
  432. >”When I’m … clearly winning?....Ha….don’t make...Trixie laugh…”
  433. >”Fine… let this last attack….determine once and for all….who is best…”
  434. >”Do….your worst!”
  435. >Finally this charade has reached its final stupidity.
  436. >Twilight charges up a huge ball of energy, as does Trixie.
  437. >They fire their beams and vicious clash occurs between them.
  438. >A monstrous magical shockwave is emitted.
  439. >The blast knocks all the surrounding on-lookers, including the girls you just met, to the ground in a daze.
  440. >The dust settles, and you see Trixie and Twilight groaning as they try to get up.
  441. >You fortunately weren’t knocked around as much by the blast.
  442. >There’s a loud crack.
  443. >A water tower behind Trixie starts to buckle.
  444. >The blast must’ve weakened the supports.
  445. >It starts to fall toward Trixie, who is still dazed and doesn’t see it coming.
  446. “Oh no…”
  447. >You take off in a dead sprint toward her.
  448. >Twilight sees what’s happening and tries to warn Trixie.
  449. >Everyone is just getting their wits about them as they see the tower coming down, and they start to yell.
  450. “LOOK OUT.”
  451. >You get to Trixie and ram her side, sending her tumbling out of the way.
  452. >This may break your body, but you have a strong spirit, you won't let something like th-
  453. *CRASH*
  454. >...
  455. >...
  456. >...
  457. >YOUR SPIRIT.
  458.
  459. ***********
  460.
  461. >You are Trixie
  462. >As you hit the dirt, you realized it was Anon that had smacked into you.
  463. >You looked at him for a split second before the tower came down on him.
  464. >You never even heard it coming.
  465. “Anon?…”
  466. >Had Anon not rammed you out of the way, you’d be finished, but instead...
  467. >No.
  468. >No he can’t be!
  469. >He’s too strong!
  470. “ANON!!!”
  471. >You rush to the pile of wood.
  472. >Trying to levitate the pile off of him is too difficult, you’ve used too much energy.
  473. >You resort to using your hooves.
  474. >As you work, you take a look around, and notice Twilight standing there horrified.
  475. “Well don’t just stand there, help me!”
  476. >”R-right! Girls!  Are you ok?!”
  477. >”We’re OK Twilight!”
  478. >”Help clear this pile quick!”
  479. >”We’re coming!”
  480. >The six of you work furiously to pull scarps off.
  481. >You reach the last piece, and notice a paw sticking out.
  482. >Oh no…
  483. >You flip the last piece, Anon lying face down.
  484. “Anon!  Anon can you hear me??  Speak to me!”
  485. >Nothing.
  486. >What have you done?
  487. >This poor thing was only looking for a way out of the forest and instead you got him…
  488. >Don’t think like that!
  489. >There still may be a chance!
  490. >You turn him over.
  491. >His eyes, they’re glazed over.
  492. >You can’t see him breathing.
  493. >This can’t be happening.
  494. >Twilight addresses you.
  495. >”Trixie, I-.”
  496. “Don’t.  You.  Say. ONE. WORD.  This is YOUR fault!  You had to challenge me!  You just had to prove how much better than me you were!”
  497. >”Me?! You were the one that dragged him along with your stupid act!  You made him fight for YOUR own benefit!”
  498. “You made no effort to stop him from rushing to me!  You wanted him and me to both be caught under that didn’t you?!”
  499. >”How can you say something like that?!  What is wrong wi-“
  500. >”BOTH OF Y’ALL SHUT YER MOUTHS!!!!!”
  501. >You turn to see her orange friend, and her other friends, glaring at you.
  502. >And Twilight at too?
  503. >”You should BOTH be ashamed of yerselves!  Y’all just had to one-up each other, didn’t ya?!  This happens every time, but before we were lucky nopony ever really got hurt!  Now look!”
  504. >She points to Anon.
  505. >Twilight hangs her head, but you go over to Anon.
  506. >What have you done?
  507. "I..I'm so sorry Anon..."
  508. >You rest a hoof on his chest.
  509. >”oooooooooowwwww”
  510. >You hear it, but you don’t believe it.
  511. >”That…reeaaalllyy…huuurrrtttt…”
  512. >He’s barely moving his mouth.
  513. >But that's him talking!
  514. >You feel tears in your eyes.
  515. “A-Anon!  You’re alive!”
  516. >There are gasps from the crowd.
  517. >Twilight yells for a doctor.
  518. "Don't move,  The doctors are on their way!"
  519. >”I could... really use some ice cream now…”
  520. “You …why would you do something so stupid?”
  521. >He raises a hand up partially.
  522. >”Prbrbrbrrbttt”
  523. >He’s delirious.
  524. >But at least he’s alive.
  525. >The paramedics arrive, and they load him on a stretcher.
  526. “Anon, listen, these stallions are going to take you to the hospital.”
  527. >”…And then we can get ice cream?”
  528. “Yes, then we’ll get ice cream.”
  529. >”Yaaay.”
  530. >You let out a slight laugh, but you work to suppress it as they cart him off.
  531. >This next part is going to be difficult, but it needs to be done.
  532. ”Twilight…I’m sorry.”
  533. >”Huh?”
  534. “You’re right.  This was all my fault.  I didn’t mean for things to turn out like this.  This was…this wasn’t supposed to happen like this.  I just wanted to prove  I really am a great magician.  Instead, I end up almost destroying a town and nearly got an innocent by-stander killed.”
  535. >”You’re not all to blame.  I could’ve turned you down, but I couldn’t resist the chance to show my abilities either.  At any point I could’ve packed up my pride, but I didn’t.”
  536. >Her white unicorn friend steps in.
  537. >”I think you both have learned a very important lesson here.”
  538. >”I think so too Rarity.”
  539. “Can we try to bury this hatchet?  I don’t want this to go on anymore.”
  540. >”I’d like that very much, Trixie.”
  541.
  542.
  543. >You are An-
  544. “Ow.”
  545. >Anon
  546. >And everything hurts.
  547. >The X-rays look more like a jig-saw puzzle than anything.
  548. >Couple broken ribs, some others bruised, fractured clavicles, deflated lung, dislocated shoulder...
  549. >That especially sucked to have popped back in.
  550. >No spinal damage to speak of though, so you feel yourself extremely lucky in the end.
  551. >Also.
  552. >”Here Anon try this cake!”
  553. >Pinkie had thrown a party in your hospital room, much to the dismay of the staff.
  554. >It was something special for you to wake up to.
  555. >Twilight speaks to you.
  556. >”Doctor says as soon as you ribs heal, you should be ok to leave the hospital.”
  557. “How were they able to even diagnose me?”
  558. >”You physiology is similar to a diamond dog’s or minotaur’s.  There we some differences, but overall they were able to work on you based off that.”
  559. “My luck just doesn’t seem to run out.”
  560. >Trixie speaks next to Twilight.
  561. >”Just try to keep still, don’t need you adding to your injuries.”
  562. “Yes Trixie. Have you two established who’s the better unicorn yet?”
  563. >”We’ve come to an agreement that we’ll settle that another time.  Outside of town.  In a more civil fashion.  As friends.”
  564. “Dawww.”
  565. >”Oh shut up.”
  566. >You smile at her.
  567. >The other girls in the room laugh.
  568. “So where do we go from here?”
  569. >”I suppose I’ll continue on with my travelling show.  There’s a lot for me to see still, so I need to keep on the move.”
  570. >”I sent a letter to our princess about your appearance and everything that happened.  She hopes you get well, and would like it if you stayed here in Ponyville so we could find out more about you.  Is that ok with you?”
  571. “Ya, and tell her I said 'thank you'.”
  572. >You turn to Trixie.
  573. “Well it’s been a fun few days hasn’t it?  I trust I’ll be seeing you around?”
  574. >”As if Trixie would forget about her assistant.”
  575. >You smile at her again.
  576. >This was going to be an interesting road for you.
  577. >But it looks like you’d have company along the way
  578. >And that’s all you wanted.
