- Alright, here's my brief(-ish), not incredibly detailed summary of the first few parts. Fair warning, I was reading at hyper speed thanks to having to get to work (still there), and practically skimming the latter bits, so I might have made mistakes, left stuff out, or made some assumptions towards the end. I'll read it through again when I have time:
- So, Narue is, as we covered last time, assigned to the waters around Hanpanee Island on a solo mission to put a halt to some suspicious smuggling and find out the details of said operation and if possible catch the culprits. If I skimmed it right, she's ticked/miserable that they made her swim since she's too big to secretly transport/the whole way.
- She basically sets up a meager base camp for her size on a secluded beach (the same kind of barely towel-size tent she's been using), and has strict orders to not be seen or interact with the locals. Likewise, if I got this right, they're trying to keep her existence on the down-low, and so they've told, as a coverup, that she's a "giant robot" for the media/populace who've seen her. She has a gigantic cage along for if she catches the culprits, and a pick-up/rendevous team will check in with her in a few days.
- Just to get it out of the way and not cover it individually, there's a ton of her monologuing over the course of the first few days between the 'action' about her situation, how she's still miserable, how she wants to be normal again, how she feels so inhuman/drifting apart and isolated, the faint allure of the size/power that she's stamping down (some of this is subtext), and repeated, constantly, like a mantra, "I did it all for Chijinda-kun, to savee him and be useful to him". It's like her go to "safe" phrase, what she's clinging to to stay happy/sane, etc.
- The very first night she catches the smugglers, swimming out to sea ("it's only bathtub depth to me here) and trapping their ship in between her titanic thighs. At first her relationship with them is almost dopey/cartooney, because she holds all the overwhelming power, but is generally a 'nice person'. There's an underlying thrill in being able to constantly tease, threaten, and even (lightly) sadistically derive some pleasure from playing seemingly life and death games with them. She glosses this over in her head as 'well, at least they're BAD GUYS and I'm not REALLY gonna do anything. Permanent." But it's clear that, even though they antagonize and constantly try to deceive/fuck with her, that she's still enjoying rather obviously. Likewise, she makes it clear that, even as a last resort, she WILL take her mission seriously and harm/take whatever's actions necesary if they force her hand.
- They hide in the ship, she starts breaking/threatening it piece by piece till the three of them cry chicken and come out. She interrogates them, they play tough, she 'playfully' picks them up (between her fingertips) and threatens to drop them and other such dangerous gts 'games'. They eventually confess, after she scares the living piss out of them by not being sure if she's sadistically playing or being serious, that they don't know what cargo they've got, where it's going, where it's coming from, or who their client is. She doesn't really believe them, but she cages them and takes their ship as evidence, locking them down back at her beach-base.
- This kind of malarky, gts play between Narue and them goes on for a few days (interspersed between the monologues mentioned above). They try to escape or get her to let them go CONSTANTLY using every trick in the book, threats, cajoling, playing the ole' 'oh no, one of us is sick/injured, you've got to let us out' gag, and finally offering her real, crucial intel if she capitulates. Eventually on each occassion their rough & tumble attitude (these are dangerous criminals after all), their nastiness, or their attempts to escape get on her last nerve and end with them pissing themselves after Narue's patience runs out and she plays some other lightly sadistic scare/threatening mental torture with them. Such as taking them out and putting them on her hand, then slowly tilting it so they fall. Or putting them on her knee precariously balanced as she leans back, then on her show which she extends way into the sky above her head (letting them fall, a mirror of what happened with the VIP on the Guerrila Mission seems to be go to threat, since subconsciously it's probably a more "passive" evil gts act then crushing or eating or whatnot). She even uses some "normal" non-size torment games like playing as if she won't feed the/let them starve (one of her largest recurring grumbles is that all she can eat in mass quantities/at her size is various breads. She's really suffering for some want of food herself, variety wise at least).
- One morning a few days into August (her mission started July 28th/29th I believe), she awakens to find a normal-sized young woman on the beach with her, who I'm relatively sure is the eyepatched girl from the Shrink 'High Gaiden banner. While Narue is still bleary, she introduces herself as the student council President of an all-women's Academy somewhere on the island. She (very politely) doesn't give her name (her demeanor is very similar to how I wrote the Director in the first game, intelligent, polite, calm, distantly friendly, composed, dry humor when it's present).
- Furthermore, and without any ado, she tells Narue straight off the bat that the island houses a branch/base of the Advanced Sciences Society, although as far as I (quickly) noted she doesn't say anything like "this is where what remains of the Society escapes to". This leads me to speculate that she might indeed lead a "rogue" branch that will butt heads with what's left of the original, or that is now trying to break off and do their own thing in the aftermath, or even that they weren't originally part of the Society and are trying to seize the reins from where the original Society left off.
- She immediately extends Narue an offer to join her as an important member of the Society. She gives a little speech telling Narue that they still believe in the shrinking technology and the original Operation, in some form or another, reiterating everything Miku/Director said in the first game and how it will solve Mankind's future woes. She implies though (although she doesn't actually SAY it) that they've lost much of the technology and completed research behind it. That they need Narue's help as the vital and precious remaining sample of the Society's original Plans/Experiments if they are to succeed, although she infers that Narue will be an active member and NOT a test subject alone. Still, she says they need her cooperation to not only regain all they've lost but to make new strides.
- To be honest, though she is calm and polite, and coolly friendly like the Director was, she makes lots of comments that seem either two-faced, have a hidden meaning, or like she's not finishing her complete thoughts (I.E, as a made up example of what I mean "I need to know whether or not you can defuse this bomb...(*part left unsaid*...because if you can't then I won't teach you and it'll be placed in your bags later where it will blow you to kingdom come").
- For some reason I couldn't quite grasp, perhaps just in her kind nature, perhaps because she's caught offguard and half asleep at first, or perhaps because she hasn't had any kind, friendly, "equal" conversation in ages, Narue doesn't flip out and stand against her "enemy" or anything, but seems to amiably, interestedly, if not cautiously, go along with what the President is saying.
- Also, it might help that she eventually offers to shrink Narue back to normal Human size again, which at this stage she thinks is everything she wants, desperately. Even more enigmatically, the President offers to explain to Narue about a certain, unique "SPECIAL ABILITY" that Narue alone will possess/can gain from them.
- But...she can't just abandon her mission and leave her criminal detainees alone there, and her rendezvous's coming up soon. The President examines the smugglers (who are begging her to let them out/go free/HELP!), but she dismisses them, trying to convince Narue to let them alone for a while at least while she comes with her to see her alternatives. There's one of those awkward moments I tried to describe above where it becomes obvious, despite them declaring that they know nothing of what they were 'secretly' hired for and the President feigning ignorance as well, that the President and the smugglers recognize each other and that (big surprise), it's she and her organization who were utilizing them for some nefarious purpose. She even offers them a pleasantry ("Gokurousama", essentially, "thanks for all your hard work"), but Narue, who comes off as particularly thick and flat out dumb sometimes, doesn't seem to notice what's going on.
- Narue, who thanks to her position and recent life is far more torn and agreeable to the idea of being headhunted by the Society then is anywhere NEAR healthy, says she can't just up and leave like that. The President, biding her time and being an Emperor Palpatine all the while, gives her a day to mull it over. Over the course of that next day, as Narue 'agonizes' over her choice, her end decision is basically "I became like this for Chijinda-kun, so I don't know what's most helpful for him right now. Staying this size just in case my power is needed again cause I NEVER WANT TO SEE HIM HURT MUST PROTECT HIM OMG NARUE STRONK!!!1!!!...but then again I want to be normal and this misery (and certainly not the temptation to due wicked wicked things) is tearing me apart. And that Society, whew, they WERE a handful of cheeky monkeys last time....I KNOW! That's it, I'll play along/pretend to go along and take a looky around, see what they're up to, what they're planning, whether they can be trusted, whether I need to take them out for MY CHIJINDA'S!!1!...and if I need to leave or stop them I will!"
- The entire thing feels halfway like a justification for her choice and actions.
- So, reasoning that her captives won't die of starvation overnight since she leaves them food and stuff and they're safe in a cage, she agrees to go and tentatively join the Society, at least for the moment with the President the next day.
- As they walk through the woods on the outskirts of the island (at some point I'm pretty sure Narue is carrying the President along in her hand), the Pres assures her they can get through this without any of the island's folk seeing her giant as per her mission parameters. And generally sweet/seduce talks her into going along with them. Like I said, a real Palpatine vibe. Among their talk is introduced the idea that the facilities here and the school are extremely rich & fancy, and I believe the President hints that it's because of a wealthy (male?) patron. All Narue really seems obsessed with at this time is the offer to make her normal sized again.
- They arive at the school or some other outlying buildings as Narue kind of hides in the forest, and the Pres eventually comes back out and joins her, handing over not some technology, but rather a dose of some strange drug which she insists will get Narue back to normal size, they she should take it with water (despite the requisite doses of water and medicine at Narue's immense size). Narue's dubious (and should be even MORE dubious when the President suddenly stops her at the last second and adds "oh, yeah, could you not take it here next to the school and go climb that mountain over there, and ONLY take it when you reach the top?"), but still complies. She quickly finds out that whatever it was she took was sleeping drugs, or works like them anyway, as she passes immediately out.
- The fact that this branch of the Society, that claims that they need to "recover" the shrinking and related tech/research that was lost, needed to knock Narue out so they didn't see what they were doing to her or what they might have gleaned from her body, is a bunch of giant red flags to me, especially considering theree's no reason to believe the "drug" was responsible for shrinking her in any way.
- When Narue wakes up, she's in a sterile-y, futuristic-y sci-fi med-bay lab, is finally back at normal Human size, and is sleeping in a strange white-ish capsule that opens to let her out. After getting settled and used to being 'normal' again, the President shows up and tell her she was out for a day, in which she creepily but Narue doesn't see it as creepy tells her they did all SORTS of experimenting and research. Also, nakey-ness. Narue expresses happiness, interested bewilderment, and disorientation at "everything being normal sized again, seeing other Humans my size".
- "Yes," says the President,"Once one is a giantess and has all that power etc. etc. then it's always a bit disorienting when they become normal sized again" "What?" says Narue, surprised,"Could it be YOU've experience growing into a giantess yourself Madame President?" "ME? No! Who, me? Never! I', just saying, err, one can IMAGINE, yes! Imagine what it would be like! Good Great GRAND! NO YELLING ON THE BUS!!"
- President gives Narue a little tour of the school facilities around the lab (it's very posh as Narue assumed), gives her a small idea of what her 'school life' as an important asset and member of the Society will be like, pleasantires and whatnot, and dresses her in the Ranpanee Lady's Academy school uniform (this isn't actually the name of the school, I don't think the name was actually said), which is black and lacks Narue's traditional beret. "Aww, how cute, you look like just you could pass as one of our freshman" (Narue takes offense to this remark for obvious reasons).
- After a bit, they sit down to eat lunch in a classroom as the President wants to explain to Narue some of what they've discovered. There's a bit of a distraction as Narue chows down in joy on what is basically the first 'real' meal with any sort of variety and substance she's had in months, more Palpatine seduction from the President ("We have an excellent chef on request, get whatever you'd like, they and I am at your disposal, etc.").
- That out of the way, the time has come for the President to explain to Narue about her "Super Special Secret Power Ability!" that she's gained as a result of being the sole (surviving) person to have used the experimental 'embiggeration' ray. Essentially, "here are the sort of beneficial side effects of using this crazy futuristic growth science".
- Fair warning, this is one of those parts that I was going through fast as my time ran out and it had science speak, so I might have missed/misread stuff, fair warning:
- The general, and highly simplified gist is, Narue's biology/physiology has been changed as a result of the massive dose of energy provided by the gorowth ray and the further evolution/mutation forced into her adapted system due to spending so long like that. Much like JoJo's Ripple energy, her cells now kind of overflow with/generate/produce an abundance of it, that is constantly regenerating/being produced. And much like virus....? Hormones...? etc....? Yes, let's go with hormones (the President is pulling one of her Palpatine "I don't really want to even tell you half of the truth/what I'm, thinking right now" moments through this whole part)......Narue can now infect, affect, and infuse other living, organic, AND inorganic matter with her energy-hormone-POWAAAAARS.
- Yeah, TL:DR, Narue is now a living Shrink/Re-growth gun that can resize people, objects, and whatnot with but the thought of her will.
- The President goes through a series of explanations and experiments/trials right there at the desks they're dining on. She walks Narue through a series of visualizations, training her to use her power to shrink the pitcher of water they're using, both in general and with some degree of pin-point accuracy (as in, just the pitcher and NOT the water inside for example). And then she has Narue regrow the shrunken pitcher back to it's original size.
- It should ne noted that while the President treats the demonstration of Narue's shrinking powers as an interesting and happily succesful demonstration and experiment...when it comes to the regrowth part she starts SALIVATING AT THE FUCKING MOUTH!!11!! "GROW IT DAMMIT, MAKE THAT PITCHER FUCKING HUGE! I OBVIOUSLY AM FAR MORE INTERESTED IN HAVING AND CONTROLLING YOUR BIGGERMENT POWERS WOMAN!!1!!1!!"
- It's very unsubtle. Even Narue notices, although she pretty much ignores it, continuing her display of Harem MC levels of denseness. She then procedes to get quite dissapointed (for a woman who's obviously skilled at HIDING her emotions) when she and Narue learn that, apparently, while Narue can regrow things back to their original size after she shrinks them, she can't actually make them bigger. The President pushes her to try very hard to her limits for a while to no avail. "But," she comforts herself out loud,"This is only your first time ever using your powers! Who knows what you'll be able to accomplish with time and practice (please make me huge, please make me huge, please oh please when you can fully make anything as big or as little as you please...)".
- Now, I will add there's a bit the President explains at the end where Narue CAN'T just use her powers on anything she wants. There are, apparently, exceptions. Something to do with how much/the limits of what she can "infect" with her hormones/energy I believe. Like, 'you could shrink this pitcher we did, or me, or that puppy who begs for yakisoba bread in the yard....but you couldn't, say, shrink THIS WHOLE ROOM/SCHOOL since you wouldn't be able to permeate/infect it adequately enough. Or something. This is one of the parts I need to go back to later.
- Oddly enough, they don't discuss whether Narue can change her OWN size, or how in the fuck the President knew about these powers in the first place, before Narue was even tested upon or before she even demonstrated having them. HMMMMMMM.
- On top of that, Narue will have to re-enter and spend a period of time within the Capsule she woke up in at some point every. single. day., lest something they're not completely sure of happen. I believe the capsule has some sort of draining effect (or so the President possibly highly Palpatine bullshits) on Narue's abundance of BIGNESS energy, which also contributes to how they say they shrunk her. They imply/Narue fears without necesary confirmation that if she didn't do this every day to sluice off the ever-building energy that she might re-grow automatically back to her titanic size...or something else/worse. The President jokes that she may simply blow up Violet Beauregard style from her power, immense and round and fat like a Narue-flavored-shnozberry. ((The whole thing stinks of more Presidential "I'm not telling you half of what I obviously know" BS. And reminds me highly of Elizabeth's situation in Bioshock Infinite, with Comstock draining her UNIVERSE powers (her, they'd be draining Narue's BIGNESS powers) for use in their own nefarious purposes without her knowledge.
- I'm pretty sure that's all they covered, saying they'll work more towards testing her powers and researching technology out of them in the days to come with her as a member. In the meantime, Narue can live and go here and there, can get food and goods here and there, can leave form here, etc. etc., befpre the President takes off.
- Narue flits around a bit, before deciding she needs to get back to her beach-base for now, check on her captives, and prepare herself and them for the pending rendezvous and arrestment with the main Organization. She leaves and has a rough trek refinding her route along the island at normal size, commenting on the obvious diffreence and difficulty of traversing tough, dense, unpioneered island terrain at normal size as opposed to over 300 freaking feet tall.
- Arriving back her her base eventually, she marvels for awhile at how fucking huge all her previously barely accomodating shit was, and how she can't really use it right now. Her 3 criminal captives sort of humorously don't recognize her and call to her for help and 'free us!' for awhile as she marvels and ignores them. eventually they catch on and try to pull their old shit, but she insists she REALLY can't let them out for anything now that she's back to normal size and can't fuck with them or easily speckhandle them anymore.
- They pull the "at least get closer/get in here and give us some more food you haven't ben here in a day or two" card, and Narue, like the kind-hearted, naive dumbass she is falls for it again and does so. They grab her, and the formerly kind of cartoonish, totally in Narue's favor power balance is now actually holy shit serious. As you might expect, the vicious criminals bind, hurt a bit, seriously threaten, and eventually turn more than a little rape-y on poor Narue. The scene is tense, dangerous, and unpleasant, as they continue to begin binding her with rope(?) and holding her down.
- As she and the situation darken considerably, she thankfully has a moment of clever insight as they manhandle her, making a big deal over the change in size and dynamic, power in their favor, etc., and tricks them insisting there's a different way to open the giant cage and let them out that "normal sized people can use". As she distracts them and pretends to look for a non-existant key, she slowly utilizes her newfound power to shrink them, bit by bit, inch by inch, foot by foot.
- Her plan succeeds and they notice too late, yet still, 3 on 1 and still big enough men to compete with her strength as they dwindle bit by laborious bit past child-size, they struggle with the ropes and her limbs to stop her, choke her out I believe, before it's too late in a tense standoff. Her powers win the day however, as they shrink too small to effectively fight back, going from in charge and dominant, to equally, then failingly struggling, to right back in their original impotent position unable to affect her in the slightest.
- She shrinks them as far as she can before her powers seem to hit their limit (just like how she couldn't make things bigger previously), with them about the size a bottled water to her. Narue, now obviously very serious, unforgiving, and, for her, quite nasty as can be expected, points out mockingly that they're FAR bigger in conparison to her then they were when she was 300+feet tall, surely they can't complain if they're weaker then 'just a normal girl' no matter what happens to them now.
- She shrinks the cage (previously described as very large, with plenty of room even with the 3 men in it) down to barely large enough for the three to fit, mockingly them and entering a bit of a sadistic mode, threatening them with all too real violence this time, like crushing any part of them that sticks out of the cage and the cage itself.
- Squeezing in/filling most of the space in the cage with them squashes in around her, she has a drawn out sequence where she torments them physically and emotionally, willingly (as opposed to Black Narue and the Guerilla Mission where she literally snapped)getting nasty with them and I suppose you could say being 'evil' or 'amoral' at least for the first time. She goes through a whole bout of feet, sock, and shoe torment, making them carry them and similar physical trials till they exhaust themselves, making them repeat it if they fail, stuffing them in her socks and swinging them around and the like, squishing them violently (but non-fatally) underfoot and making them lick/clean them and in between her toes. Many things like that that go on for quite a while. In the end, she shrinks them and the cage even smaller, finding that she can surpass her limits a bit before a new one asserts itself.
- !!!((Fair warning, this is about where I had to get to work and so I REALLY started ushing like mad, practically skimming, and will come back to correct any very possible mistakes or add in any details I may have missed later. I will make clear some of this is inference/supposition on my part. Although this is literally the very end of the demo))!!!
- Some time not too long after this, when Narue is, suffice it to say not in the best of mindsets and just wanting this all to be over, she is, at least, excited to see what everyone, including obviously Chijinda and another agent of their Organization (Modoki? I think it was?) who's showing up for the rendezvous, will think and say. The next day Modoki shows up not exactly as planned and, after realising it's Narue at normal size with some surprise, gets a brief rundown (leaving out a bunch of obvious stuff like the Society) from Narue who just kinda skirts past the issue of her getting back to normal size. She lies and says that she just woke up one morning at normal size, and that the energy from shrinking back (due to those pesky A.S.S. nee-chans) must have shrunk the cage and the smugglers as well. She 'snuck into town and bought a uniform for the local academy'.
- Narue expresses joy at the prospect of working together normally with everyone again, and complains good-naturedly about all the crap she had to put up with...before FINALLY realising Modoki is acting really weird, in particular commenting multiple times about how she didn't eat the bread put aside for the final day of her mission (it was sorted by day I suppose). Narue is shocked and dismayed when Modoki grants her a not-so-welcome reward and debriefing for a job well done by whipping out his gun and attempting to execute her there and then. He gives a 'reason you suck and we all hate you, do you know what it was like, how you made us feel, how much of our livlihood we watched you consume' speech, and is quite eeeeeeeeevil and scenery-munching. As far as he/they(?) were concerned, she was always going to die here.
- Now, I got out of this rushing by at a hundred miles per hour 1 of two half-assumed, half grabbed a half-ass translation as I was running by possibilities. 1 was that he represents the will and orders of the organization to betray and terminate Narue on sight if she should ever gain control of her size, appear dangerous, just for all the spiteful reasons he already listed etc., as he reveals they already saw her an an inhuman, clearly not-one-of-us-kill-the-outsider freak we were only using to put down the second she outlived her usefullness. 2 was that this was his own personal prejudice and he was taking matters into his and a few others' own hands, but implying that the Organization would basically agree and sanction this, and that everyone pretty much felt the exact same way as him. 3rd option would be some mix of the two.
- In any event, Narue is able to stay alive, fleeing desparately as Modoki tries to shoot her, trying to escape from him while mentally collapsing under the stress, horror, rage, and fear of the betrayal, as he rages himself and rants about killing her. She demands/desperately that she only became what she did to help Chijinda (and later insists that Chijinda wouldn't betray her or agree with this), and Modoki jeeringly, mockingly implies that he's in the same boat, and next, and he wouldn't hesitate to kill (insert several insults towards Chijinda here) him too, implying he might have already, or might have been ordered to.
- As you might expect.
- Narue.
- Snaps.
- Badly.
- She willingly, no loss of sanity or control, albeit fucked up emotionally, goes full evil wrath of revenge on the douchebag. Coldly. Cruelly. She shrinks him and stalks him. Shrinks him and promises violence and worse unto him. Shrinks him and relentless, seemingly emotionless corners him. Shrinks him, and shrinks him. And shrinks him. Past her former limits of earlier. Past what Modoki, who, realising he's fucked up royally, can handle. Into handheld size. Bug size. Speck size.
- He begs, threatens, cajoles, pleads, requests forgiveness as much and in any way he can, recants what he said, pledges her aid and succor. The works. Nothing even moves her. There can be no forgiveness. No way to undo what's been done. She's suffered quietly for months, become distant from her former self and humanity for months. And this betrayal (however depe it goes) is the last. fucking. straw. No one will treat her like this, or threaten her Chijinda again. Shehas a brief, toying period where she continuously threatens to obliterate him into paste, always stomping just behind or just missing him as he shrinks as small as the sand she's kicking up world ending explosions of, all the former playfulness of this sadistic game long gone, the purpose being to drive him to the upmost of fear and pain, not for amusement.
- As they both realise she is, without a doubt, going to kill him horribly and take that final step towards, in a way, truly joining the ranks of the Advanced Sciences Society, even if, at the moment, against someone who definitely deserves it, he begs for his life one last time. "If you can survive this, then I'll forgive you" she asserts throughbout the exchange, coldly. Before finally, willfully, flattening him into paste on the beach.
- As she feels something irrevocably change/die deep inside her.
