- "Tali? Tali you there?"
- "Keelah, ugh my head..." The hungover quarian reached for her human with an unsteady hand, he pulled away much to her surprise.
- "Shepard?" she asked, surprised at his rejection, she couldn't see straight but could swear he wasn't appropriately dressed for their traditional cure for hangover, a uniform wasn't a very comfortable pillow.
- "Tali, no, You have a problem, this is the fifth time you've awoken like this.."
- "I was just celebrating... we killed the reapers!"
- "You've been celebrating for two months now, I think it's time for.."
- "But you said you wanted me to partyy, why are the lights so bright?"
- "Yeah, I said that, but..."
- "And you said I was cute, drunk."
- "Tali, there is a limit! Please, look, your garden is dead, and you haven't even tried the pool! Tali you're an alcoholic! as crazy as it sounds…"
- "No! The suit can flush it whenever I want to, I can't be... that! you bosh'tet, my father died and you.."
- "No, I'm sick of cleaning vomit from your filters, listen I don't drink, you've never been a drinker! but now, now you just sit at the bar..."
- The quarian remained silent, it was ridiculous, her mate was clearly delusional, mad.
- she didn't drink that much, and she deserved it Tali reasoned..
- "Please, stop." He sighed and rose from his, their bed, Tali reached for him, her glowing eyes pleading with him, he ignored them as much as it pained him, it had to be done, it would be worth it in the end.
- "I'm going, you won't be drinking anymore
- She moved to protest, her legs didn't' want to cooperate and she merely flailed around on the bed, impotently.
- "No, I've tried talking to you before, this is final okay."
- He left, leaving Tali all alone, she felt furious, what an insult! she had already apologized for kicking him, and scaring that "Lone Children of the fleet" inspector, what could he possibly want.
- The sound of fluid running down a sink soon reached her ears, along with the occasional crash of a broken bottle.
- Tali groaned as she attempted to get up, her rear felt abnormally heavy, too much fluid stored.
- "Shepard! Don't do that! I'll only drink a little!"
- His voice was firm, she could partly see his posture, their small house allowed for it, it was rigid, like a disciplinary officer.
- "No, don’t you remember last time you said that!" he ordered to her, Tali did remember, faintly.
- but that was a long time ago, she was sure he was just joking, he had to be.
- "Joohn, please come back, I'm cold, I'm scared, hold me."
- "Not gonna work, we'll cuddle when you're sober."
- The quarian punched the bed, that was the last time she'd ever ask him that with that voice, the decision didn't feel very sure.
- her head ached, furiously, like a reaper horn was being detonated inside of it.
- "You don't love me!" before she could complete her tirade john barked back from the kitchen "Yes I Do! and I'm doing this because I love you! You'll see soon enough."
- "What if I don't want to be here? what if I go to the town, I hear Kaal's bar is still open."
- "Not gonna happen, I asked garrus to borrow the hovercar."
- "Bu.."
- "And the rover.."
- With great effort she managed to clamber out of her bed, stumbling, she reached the human, just in time to see him drain the last bottle into the sink.”
- “Shepard! You can’t just keep me here! What if Shala needs me?”
- “Shala knows, she’s as worried as I am…”
- “About what? Did something happen?”
- “You, you happened.”
- “What’s that supposed to mean?”
- “Guess!” he put a hand on her shoulder, hard, firmly he wanted her to listen, Tali reluctantly agreed.
- “I was looking forward to settling down here, you know, getting a home, leaving the memories and battles, I wanted a regular life Tali, I expected to settle down with the woman I loved and live quietly, safely.
- Maybe have a kid or two.” He paused, Tali found herself rooted to the spot, he had that same look The one she hadn’t seen since after the battle of earth.
- “Tali, I hate to say this, but, this isn’t what I expected, you are drunk, every day, every night, you party and, godamnit Tali, what happened?”
- “Nothing happened, I just did what you wanted, to enjoy myself, you told me to.
- Yes maybe I drink to much, but you can’t just… do this!” she gestured at the sink, filled with the thick quarian liquior slowly disappearing amongst the crushed bottles and broken fluid pouches.
- “No dice, I know what happened last time.”
- “I promise….”
- “I’m sorry, but I’m not going to budge on this, you need to accept you have a problem. Before that, I’ll deal with sleeping on the couch..”
- “Good!”
- The duo parted, hastily and on bad terms, shepard to the living room and Tali towards the balcony, she felt, hollow, somehow.
- The warm wind brushing against the exposed patches of skin on her arm, to help her body adapt, didn’t soothe her as it normally did, John wasn’t usually that stubborn, she used to be able to twist him around her finger, a nice person, kind.
- She reached for a nonexistent straw for her induction port, out of reflex.
- Her hand didn’t meet its intended target of course, she needed a drink…
- Weeks later Tali accepted her problems, after a long conversation Tali decided to seek help, help being Shepard given permission to control her liquid intake.
- After some time Tali recovered from her addiction and was successfully reintroduced to civilization.
- They had a nice reunion, Tali didn’t sing along, she didn’t drink a single drop and spent much of the part chatting and playing skyllian five, which shepard participated, and to her opinion, cheated on.
- Some would say sitting in another players lap was against the rules, Tali didn’t
- Okay, opinions on this and whether or not I should start to post drabbles on my FF.net profile is appreciated.
