I preferred your silver
To the Sun's glinting gold
For it carries your splendor
As it heralds the cold
Though I cannot speak ill
Of your excellent kin
She did not shine the color
That I treasured within
Languid dusks I adored
Still midnights I savored
Yet as long as I've been here
'Twas blue that I favored
The gloom can show kindness
With a measure of mirth
As you passed on a lesson
And our friendship was birthed
Though we differed in form
We united in dreams
Hourglass nearly empty
And my breath so it seems
Regret not your long life
'Tis an honour deserved
Very soon shall my spirit
Shine eternal, preserved
You think I am bested?
Do you think that I end?
That is less than I promised
To my most cherished friend
Look up to your birthright
A breeze through the willows
In rest I lie shimmering
Your hair as it billows
Asking not for your tears
Nor your softest of sighs
Eventide my transcendence
A rebirth in your eyes
