  1. Vitae is a magical, somewhat translucent, powdery substance produced by sexual activity. It can be used as a fuel to power spells and technology.
  2.
  3. Vitae comes in eight different colors, each is used for a different kind of magic, and every color can produced by anyone. Which color is produced depends on what fetishes are used and what emotions are felt by the people who produce it. A Single act of intercourse can produce Vitae of multiple colors. Vitae can also differ in quality. Stronger emotions and more extreme fetishes produce more vibrant Vitae of higher quality. Higher quality does not allow someone to do more magic, but it does strengthen the effects of the magic it's being used for.
  4.
  5. There are no spells, no prescribed gestures and no incantations. You just draw the Vitae and then you simply WILL the desired effect into existence. Using Vitae requires a great deal of concentration, and overextending one's powers will lead to exhaustion, dizziness, headaches, nausea, loss of consciousness, and possibly even death. Using the wrong color of Vitae will result in failure and wasted Vitae.
  6.
  7. The amount of vitae is often measured in jars and cups (1 jar = 8 cups). Most people can produce about 1 cup of Vitae per day. Whilst theoretically anyone can use Vitae of any color, most people lack talent for its use and would require very large amounts of vitae for even minimal results. From the POV of Vitae, people can be divided into the following categories:
  8.
  9. Normal People - cannot practically use Vitae of any color.
  10. Casters - can use Vitae of one specific color. It is unknown how exactly this works, but casters of similar origins tend to be caster of the same color.
  11. Vitaemancers - Vitaemancers are very rare, similarly to Casters, they have talent for one Color, but they can also use Vitae of other colors and combine multiple colors to create effects impossible for normal Casters.
  12. Catalysts - Catalysts are people who can create unusually large amounts of vitae, equal to dozens of normal people.
  13.
  14. This table gives the color of the Vitae, the 'stylized element' that represents it, the emotions that underly it, and the types of fetishes that would feed it.

  30. Known Uses of the colors, and what it's like to use them.:
  31. Red; Strong temporary effects. Lightning, fire, etc. Often used by Vitaemancers to enhance a spell.
  32.
  33. Using Red is like hitting a Baseball or striking a golf ball. You focus all of your will and intent on acheiving something, and then force your will through. It's important to cast 'through' your desired intent, and not just at it. ie; Don't try to make a box weak enough to fall apart. Break a box, or destroy the nails, etc.
  34.
  35. Orange; Used to enchant machines. A Technomancer can use any color in their machines, but they need to take the time to make the devices, and use the Orange Vitae to enchant them so that they'll work.
  36.
  37. Using Orange Vitae is mostly based on knowing how to craft lines and circuits, and imbuing them as you go. It's much more technical then the other colors.
  38.
  39. Yellow;Used for teleportation and long distance communication.
  40.
  41. A protagonist hasn't used Yellow yet, so the 'feel' of it hasn't been revealed yet
  42.
  43. Green; Used for shaping things and conjuring things, with conjuring being far harder then shaping since it's basically shaping something out of raw Vitae. It's easy to shape inaninmate objects, and difficult to shape living objects. This is because living beings have a 'natural' form that they'll want to be. Working against that means the body will heal, and try to reassert itself. It's nearly impossible to make new organs with Green Vitae alone.
  44.
  45. Using Green is like a sculptor. You channel the Green Vitae into the object you want to change, and then focus on altering it. Most shapers make small movements with their hands as a way to get channel their mind.
  46.
  47. Blue; Used for healing. People who are masters of Blue Vitae can reshape bodies and make new organs by telling the body that it's natural state should be something else.
  48.
  49. A protagonist hasn't focused on using Blue yet, so the 'feel' of it hasn't been revealed yet.
  50.
  51. Purple; Used for Spirit Magic. It's also used for Mind Control, which is based on the idea that living beings have spirits, and the spirit is what actually makes a person who they are. By tampering with their spirit you can control their mind. It's also used for dream magic.
  52.
  53. Using Purple requires you to gather enough to steep your mind it, which will open a special state. In the Mental state you can see people's thoughts, and by expending Vitae you can alter the thoughts. You can also reach deeper into a persons Spirit to directly alter things like personality and memories. People who are good with Purple also know how to walk into dreams, and see souls.
  54.
  55. White; White is used as a low grade substitute for every other color. Very few people can actually use White for its own uses. White is used for Time Magic and Diviniation.
  56.
  57. Using White for White is something a protagonist hasn't focused on yet, so the 'feel' of it hasn't been revealed yet.
  58.
  59. Black; Black is used for Illusions. Because Humans are visual creatures it's easy for them to make visual illusions. Precise sounds are more difficult, and while scent can be done it usually won't fool anything that has a good nose. Invisibility is very hard to do, since Invisibility isn't so much 'you can't see this person' as 'this person now looks like the things surrounding it'. Unless someone has a sound idea of what the things on all sides of the person look like, it won't look right.
  60.
  61. Using Black is like painting and conducting. By focusing your mind you usher shadows and light into place to make the images you want people to see. Many Illusionists make sweeping motions with their hands, as if directing the Vitae into its proper position.
  62.
  63. Catalysts; Catalysts are people who cannot cast any spells. Instead they produce abnormal amounts of Vitae. They can also convert colors (Though this loses a bit of Vitae in the process) and channel Vitae over distances.
  64.
  65. A protagonist has yet to be a Catalyst, so the 'feel' of it hasn't been revealed yet.
  66.
  67.
  68. The magic system is a loose amalgamation of the ideas from the Unifie/d/ setting thread, and the Darksword Trilogy.
