  1. >Who is your Protagonist
  2. Middle-aged homicide detective, unaware that his bloodline has supernatural powers, suffers a mental breakdown when his powers manifest the night he is called on a scene and finds out that the victim is his wife. Story starts the day he exits the asylum he has been voluntarily secluded himself into for several years to treat the severe schizophrenia that resulted from the mental stress of finding his loved one dead and manifesting his powers at the same time. He will discover that what he experienced there was not caused by his madness, but that his madness was caused by what he experienced. He will discover the supernatural underworld of the city and will be forced to participate in a war that he never intended to take part of while several faction try to take him to fight for their particular cause.
  3.
  4. >Who are your side characters?
  5. Former partner in the homicide department, in the years the protagonist spent in the hospital he managed to become a Lieutenant
  6. Young investigative journalist who followed him for a few months to research for her final project. Protagonist was reluctant at first but she grew on him. Almost father-daughter relationship
  7. Old man, used to be the most famous and beloved policeman of the city until a crippling injury from a firefight cut his career short. Now owns a cop-bar and gives the protagonist his advice and wisdom.
  8. Small biker gang of 4 members, nomads, roam the country doing voluntary and charitative work trying to cleanse themselves from their violent pasts (military, criminal organizations and such).
  9. Former prostitute turned Madam and crime lord of moderate influence. Has an uneasy alliance with the protagonist from the moment he helped catch a serial killer who was targeting prostitutes and who killed one of her girls.
  10.
  11. >What is their relationship like across the story?
  12. The protagonist comes out from the asylum after years isolated, as he refused to take any visits, and tracks down his former acquaintances as he tries to find a new purpose in life, now that he has lost all he really cared about (job & wife). Eventually he will discover the supernatural and will try to deal with that new situation and the factions struggling for power who want to make of him their new pawn as best he can while trying to keep his friends away from the horrible reality that dwells in their streets.
  13.
  14. >Who is your villain?
  15. No concrete villain yet, not a fan of an "ultimate antagonist" either; only "personified" bad guy clearly defined so far is the protagonist's grandmother (long story)
  16.
  17. >What is the central conflict of your story?
  18. Spirits are created in a world "fueled" by the imagination, emotion and faith of mankind, they receive their strength from our thoughts, feelings and beliefs, so they are constantly trying to influence mankind to further gain power. A medieval cult guided by a very powerful mage creates several bloodlines of humans with supernatural abilities to fight those spirits and get rid of their influence so that mankind can develop on its own accord. There are also mages themselves, who want to protect mankind but on a broader scope, not focusing on a specific threat, but also operating on a higher "tier", not usually worrying to fight "small game" while there are beings out there that can threaten the very universe. There exist also a handful of organizations aware of the supernatural who also intervene, being anything from monster hunters to power hungry institutions who harvest artefacts and other powers to further pursuit their agendas. Add to that pretty much every single supernatural and mythological being out there and you get an absolute clusterfuck of very powerful and dangerous people in constant battle amongst themselves. And our protagonist, who wants absolutely nothing to do with all this, is caught in the middle.

  20. >Post the last page/paragraph you've written.
  21. It is an idea still, call it being in pre-production. I need to tidy up some important details before I commit to start writing. Most importantly I need to decide where to set the action into. It is an urban fantasy story, so the city itself is rather crucial, but I cannot for the love of me decide on one.
