Elsa awoke with a start, unsure of what sound her sleeping ears had heard. She sat up in her luxurious bed and strained to hear the sound again. Cupping one ear, she listened intently but no repeat came. Deciding it must have been part of some forgotten dream she laid her head back upon her silken pillows. Just as she had started to drift away again it came again.
THUMP
She shot up again, certain this time that she had heard something. Throwing off her sheets, she climbed out of bed knowing she wouldn't get any rest until she found the source of noise. As her ears began to awaken she could hear faint creaking accompanying the odd thumps that sounded every few seconds. Grabbing a lantern she exited her boudoir to investigate.
“Old castles settle” she thought to herself “That's probably what this is”
For a time she walked the halls seeking out the sound but she found this more difficult than she thought. The castle had many corridors and even during the day sounds seemed to echo for great distances. But she was determined to follow the sound until she knew the cause.
As she rounded the next corner she thought the sounds were getting louder. After a few more halls she was sure of it. Her pace quickened in her pursuit and she soon found herself in the guest wing of the castle. The sound was definitely louder here and she could tell this wasn't natural creaks and thumps.
“We have no visiting dignitaries” she said under her breath, “Who could be making this racket”
She pressed her ear to each door of the hallway seeking which room it was emanating from. She listened intently to each door but couldn't confirm which was guarding the disturbance. Finally she reached the end of the corridor and there was no longer any doubt as to which room was the one she was looking for. She again pressed against the entrance to decipher the sounds on the other side.
The creaking was there, as was the occasional thumping. But she could hear something else too, the sound of the harsh rush of punctured gasps of breath. The owner of the breaths was definitely female but the only other woman in the castle at this time would be Anna. Her alabaster skin flushed pink as sudden wave of embarrassment hit her as she realized what must be happening on the other side of the threshold.
“She must have snuck Kristoff into the castle.” She thought as she laughed to herself. “Kristoff is a nice fit for her, much better than the last one. I'll let her have her fun”
As Elsa turned to leave the guest wing she was frozen in her tracks as she heard Anna's cries of pleasure from behind the heavy wooden door
“Oh, Sven!”
