  1. Summary: Kickstarter scam stopped by /mlp/.

  3. Internet "Comedy Troupe" Million Dollar Extreme started planning back in December 2013 (at latest, possibly earlier) to scam Bronies with a kickstarter and promise of an "EPIC Dating Sim." They spent at least three months and at least $400 putting together "the perfect scam," referring to it among themselves as "Project Mayhem." I shit you not. (See Kickstarter Link.)

  5. Their plan went into effect March 6th when they officially created the kickstarter.

  7. They began viralling the project on Friday, March 7th, in hopes to get more funds. (See original thread Link.)

  9. Over the weekend, with help from EqD, the kickstarter obtained over $4,200 in pledges, and it was looking like it would easily reach it's goal.

  11. /mlp/, not being oblivious fucktards and not liking their board used for viralling, exposed the scam for what it was after cooperating to connect the "developers" of the game to MDE, proving the likelihood of it being a troll, and pointing out [spoiler]what should have been[/spoiler] obvious evidence that pointed to it being a troll. (See "Evidence Compilation.)

During/after linking 11/12 of the people on the development team, MDE was frantically trying to control the damage by deleting/privatizing posts and evidence in various places, mostly Facebook.  They also put up a Damage Control video on the Kickstarter project itself.  Finally, Sam Hyde of MDE put up an unlisted video on his Facebook channel admitting it was all just a joke, but that there really WAS a game, just a joke game, and begged us to still donate to the Kickstarter.   21. After being outed, the kickstarter plummetted from it's lofty height of $4,200 and is currently just shy of $1,500.Unexpectedly, however, it started rising a day later with three consecutive $750 pledges, assumedly the MDEIDF "baiting the box."

MDE and its fans, becoming enraged that their perfect scam/troll/whatever was foiled, as flooded /mlp/ threads in attempts at damage control or just outright saying how "butthurt" we are.  The most common argument has been "you are grown men that like ponies," from a group that tries to call itself  "original."

An IRC Channel was created to gather information on the development team.  One of the "Devs" (Chris Conlon) stepped up and said he had nothing to do with it, that he was just a MDE fan and nothing more.  Another, Brittany Ledbetter (Pukey Chan), who was paid $400 for "concept art," declined involvement as well, and even claimed she was not aware it was a scam.  [spoiler]She has since backed out of the project entirely.[/spoiler]  Afterwards, the Kickstarter page changed to show only THREE Devs, "Psychoactive Charm," "Michael Harms," and "Virgo Hiroshima," the last of which (who is actually "Matt Parr") came forward to say how he has nothing to do with this.
