  1. Working Title: Robodrome
  2. Genre: Sci-Fi
  3. Theme:
  4. Premise:
  5. A robot used in televised combat sports grows weary of fighting.
  6.
  7. Intro:
  8. In the year 2201, mechanized combat sports have exploded in popularity, and in this year, a man named Paul Cushing purchases a large forested area in the Klondike and hired arena-builders called "combat cartographers" to create the makings for an interesting battlefield.  By 2230, a circular area of 4.7 miles has been plotted, walled off, and filled with forestry, empty urban areas, and fake suburbs. He then purchased 200 robots, and sends between 60 to 120 to fight in the area, with each team being balanced.  He televises these events, and makes bank.
  9.
  10. Summary:
  11. In the year 2234, A robot, serial designation (990151/k/2 NUG), referred to as K-NUG, or, "Eskimo Joe" as it is called by his loving fans, gets damaged in his 49th FMB (Full Mobilization Battle) and is rebuilt for the 31st time.  He is rebuilt and sent into another FMB the next Tuesday (Robo Death Tuesday).
  12.
  13. Upon being released from the arena wall, he follows his squad down a hill, under the cover of the large pine trees that rise high into the sky.  Our hero, Eskimo Joe sees a butterfly, and stops for a moment, then catches up with his squad.
  14.
  15. Skip forward two battles.  He hasn't been reconstructed, and this time, he has a moment of questioning.  He and his squad are pinned down, taking cover in a log house being ripped apart by heavy machine gun fire.  Joe blasts the brain case off an enemy with a heavy MG, then looks at his pistol,  He notices some writing on it, written by a mechanic.  "HELLO ELIZABETH TOWNLEY" it says, and Joe wonders what it means, cupping his pistol in his hands like water from a stream. He moves to look at where the machine gunner once stood, and sees a headless android.
  16.
  17. Meanwhile, inside the arena wall, a mechanic/mathematician by the name of Ed Townley is working on an illegal AI experiment, the details of which are not told.  In the background, we see the televised event, showing the text on the pistol, and Ed pats himself on the back, implying that they are related.
  18.
  19. About the mechanic, all we know is he is making a program that would give robots using the same OS as the robots used in the FMBs speech recognition beyond the simple commands already programmed.  It's in a USB stick that can be fitted in any USB port on any of the robot's heads.
