>they each teach their art to a different fluffy unicorn, and then the one who’s is the biggest at years end wins
>there is understandable protest, but it ends up going through
>they depart
 
>the stone mage teaches his art to a unicorn
>the stallion constructs many strong shelters for his kin
>the herd flourishes, and he even manages to adopt a few disciples
>their schooling is cut short when the smarty is crushed under a rock he forgot he was lifting
 
>the wood mage is far more confident
>he teaches his student his art
>the herd is flourishing in no time flat
>bushes and trees are made into shelters
>he even taught the smarty to remove the poison from berries
>and forgot to tell him it couldn’t be removed after they’d been eaten
>the smarty’s corpse is 15% arsenic by volume
 
>metal mage is rather confused
>what the fuck is a fluffy going to do with his art in the wild?
>realizes something halfway through teaching his student
>releases fluffy in junkyard, and the herd follows
>the unicorn is even able to make armor for his herd
>he makes his own too tight
>fluffy has made own mortuary statue
 
>fire mage is cautiously optimistic
>fluffies are flammable, but that can go to their advantage.
>that herd’s fluffies slowly stop going up in flames
>opposing fluffies start going up in flame
>just as planned
 
>the final mage facepalmed
>who the fuck though this was a good idea
>his subject miraculously survived the training
>oh well, time to let this little shit out into the wild
>fluffy is excited to show his friends the tricks the magic man taught him
>it’s horn glows
>fluffy ponies drown
