  1. >The day goes by slower than expected.
  2. >You rearrange your living room for the dance lesson ahead, then make yourself dinner.
  3. >O glorious bacon, how my heart yearns for thee...
  4. >You shower after dinner, but are interrupted by your doorbell.
  5. >There’s no way it’s Luna. It’s 4pm. It’s not even... dark outside.
  6. >Anxious a little, Luna?
  7. >Chalk up another insanity point to magic.
  8. >You call out from the bathroom door, “Come on in, I’m in the shower! Be down with ya in a second.”
  9. >You hear your front door open and shut and Luna call up, “Don’t take too long!”
  10. >Something’s a little off about her voice, but you can’t tell what. Probably just your imagination.
  11. >You finish up, get dressed and head down the stairs. You turn the corner to the cleared living room.
  12. >”Alright Luna, I only know some Viennese Waltz and a little...”
  13. >You see Luna midway through your sentence, except it is not the Luna you are used to.
  14. >It’s not her.
  15. >Yet it’s her voice coming from this beautiful woman standing across from you
  16. >”I thought you would be more comfortable dancing with a human, so I used a spell to turn me into one! How do I look?”
  17. >Pic related. Still has black wings, no horn tho
  18. >She twirls in place, waist length ebony hair flowing around her.
  19. >She bats her bright blue eyes at you.
  20. >You literally are dumbstruck. This was completely unexpected.  Your “little corporal” promptly stands at attention.
  21. >”Anon? Are you alright?”
  22. >You jolt back to reality.
  23. >Yeah! Yeah, yeah I’m good, Luna. I’m gonna... go get the music. Forgot it in the other room.
  24. >You round the corner and rearrange your tackle.
  25. >Your jimmies are not rustled. Nay, it would be more appropriate to liken your jimmies to Alaskan sea life and the rustling forces to the fucking Exxon Valdez.
  26. >Why did she do this? HOW did she do this? Oh wait, fucking magic. Of course.
  27. >This changes things.
  28. >Wait, what?
  29. >How does this change things? She’s still the same Luna you know, just a little... distracting now.
  30. >She did THIS though. She changed herself. For you. You’re not dense. Does she... love you?
  31. >Luna peeks around the corner.
  32. >”Have you found the music yet, Anon?”
  33. >You come back to reality yet again.
  34. >”Just a sec, Luna.” You hurriedly fish around your dining room for the cd of classical music you had Octavia make up for you.
  35. >Aha! There it is!
  36. >Now it gets a little awkward.
  37. >Shit you sound like a pussy. You’re a Goddamn Green Beret. Nothing scares you.
  38. >Except this.
  39. >Do you love her like she loves you?
  40. >You can sort your feelings out later.
  41. >You manage to calm your rustled jimmies. Or at least shove your thoughts to the back of your mind so you can figure this shit out later.
  42. >Luna’s waiting still waiting for you in the living room.
  43. >”Alright! Let’s get this party started!” You call to her, trying your best to hide your nervousness.
  44. >Luna perks up at this.
  45. >You pop the cd into a modest sound system.
  46. >The soft methodical tones of a well-tuned piano fill the room. Slow, easy to get into the rhythm.
  47. >Luna calmly strides over to you, her previously unnoticed black evening gown making it seem like she’s floating just above the ground.
  48. >You settle into the basic closed position comfortably. Her hand grips yours a little tightly.
  49. >You count off, “1, 2, 3, 4.”
  50. >And away you two go.
  51. >You were right. You did need practice.
  52. >But you did better than you thought. Waltz always did come easily to you.
  53. >Luna, however, seemed a bit awkward and unsteady on her feet. She must still be getting used to her new body.
  54. >The last song ends. An awkward silence fills the room.
  55. >You don’t want to let go of her.
  56. >But then you remember: she wanted to go stargazing with you.
  57. >”Ready to go stargazing, Luna?”
  58. >A slight look of confusion briefly paints her face. Then an “Oh yeah!” look takes over.
  59. >She must have really been enjoying herself.
  60. >”Sure Anon! Grab the telescope and star charts I gave you. I want to take you to my favourite stargazing spot.”
  61. >You head up to your room and sling the ornate telescope gifted to you and several map tubes containing the star charts over your shoulder. You also grab a heavy wool blanket to lay down on the grass. Wouldn’t want your lady’s dress to get wet.
  62. >Planning like a sir
  63. >”Alright Luna, let’s head to this special spot of yours.” You say back downstairs.
  64. >Luna grins and a blue light envelops you both.
  65. >The light fades. You rub your eyes
  66. >This looks very familiar. Starlight streams through ruined arches, debris and broken glass litter the floor. In the center of the room a gigantic silver Armillary sphere sits, corroded and dejected.
  67. >The Temple of the Night. You saw it in Luna’s memories.
  68. >”The Temple sure has seen better days.”
  69. >”Yes. No one cared about it during my absence. But that’s not the point. I’m going to take you to the best stargazing spot in Equestria!”
  70. >She takes your one empty hand and practically pulls you down the hallway. You climb a circular staircase in the temple’s lonesome tower, Luna tugging you along impatiently all the while.
  71. >After a short while, you arrive at the tower. It is entirely enclosed. Magical blue light springs to rusted lanterns hanging from the walls.
  72. >”I have to admit Luna, this is a unique spot. I never would have thought to go stargazing in an enclosed room,” you sarcastically remark.
  73. >Luna laughs. It’s airy and light, and helps to put your mind further at ease.
  74. >”Oh, ye of little faith. That’s what we have the telescope for. Set it up in that circle in the center of the room.”
  75. >You unpack the ornate telescope and set it on its tripod. You notice three triangular slots in the ground. The legs of the tripod slide into them.
  76. >The roof rumbles, shakes, and folds open to the night sky like a stone flower.
  77. >You gaze up at a crystal clear midnight sky. An ocean of stars, far more than you had ever seen before, even in Afghanistan, stretches out before you.
  78. >Living constellations frolic in the heavens; Pisces, Scorpio, Ursa Major, the list goes on...
  79. >”This is incredible.”
  80. >”You think so?”
  81. >”What, are you kidding? Of course it is!”
  82. >You look back at Luna, who’s sitting back on your blanket, just watching you.
  83. >She pats a spot next to her, motioning you to join her on the ground.
  84. >You take her offer and hand her the map tube full of star charts.
  85. >You lean back, still trying take everything in. “Luna, this is amazing. I don’t have the words to describe it. I mean, YOU did this. You took years to make this and nobody noticed? Hell it was their loss!”
  86. >You look at Luna. She’s practically beaming at you.
  87. >You lie down on the wool blanket and just watch the night play out.
  88. >You would say more but your mind is kind of overwhelmed at this point.
  89. >All you can get out is a whispered, “Wow...”
  90. >Luna stays sitting, watching you intently.
  91. >Minutes of silence tick by.
  92. >A shooting star streaks across the sky, bright and clear.
  93. >”Make a wish Luna.”
  94. >”Hm?”
  95. >”It’s a human thing. See a shooting star, you make a wish.”
  96. >You feel her thin fingers against your hand.
  97. >You hesitate a moment then take them in your own.
  98. >”Why would I do that? I have everything I want right here.”
  99. >She squeezes your hand gently as she looks into your eyes
  100. >You feel a tad warmer than a moment ago.
  101. >Thoughts you shoved down in your mind rush to the surface.
  102. >Is this right?
  103. >She loves you, it’s easy to see now.
  104. >Do you love her?
  105. >She’s your closest friend here. She’s seen the depths of your soul and felt empathy, and you did the same with her. You both are an awful lot alike.
  106. >You KNOW each other. Not in some petty way, you both gave the other something you couldn’t give anyone else.
  107. >She cares for you deeply. She’s never asked anything from you, only given and given and given some more.
  108. >She did this, all this, just to make you happy.
  109. >Then you ask yourself, “What would you do for her?”
  110. >You don’t hesitate.
  111. >”Anything.”
  112. >You sit up and look at her, still holding her hand.
  113. >”Close your eyes, Luna.”
  114. >She obeys.
  115. >You lean in close
  116. >” Ever, always, only for you.”
  117. >You kiss her gently.
