- >The day goes by slower than expected.
- >You rearrange your living room for the dance lesson ahead, then make yourself dinner.
- >O glorious bacon, how my heart yearns for thee...
- >You shower after dinner, but are interrupted by your doorbell.
- >There’s no way it’s Luna. It’s 4pm. It’s not even... dark outside.
- >Anxious a little, Luna?
- >Chalk up another insanity point to magic.
- >You call out from the bathroom door, “Come on in, I’m in the shower! Be down with ya in a second.”
- >You hear your front door open and shut and Luna call up, “Don’t take too long!”
- >Something’s a little off about her voice, but you can’t tell what. Probably just your imagination.
- >You finish up, get dressed and head down the stairs. You turn the corner to the cleared living room.
- >”Alright Luna, I only know some Viennese Waltz and a little...”
- >You see Luna midway through your sentence, except it is not the Luna you are used to.
- >It’s not her.
- >Yet it’s her voice coming from this beautiful woman standing across from you
- >”I thought you would be more comfortable dancing with a human, so I used a spell to turn me into one! How do I look?”
- >Pic related. Still has black wings, no horn tho
- >She twirls in place, waist length ebony hair flowing around her.
- >She bats her bright blue eyes at you.
- >You literally are dumbstruck. This was completely unexpected. Your “little corporal” promptly stands at attention.
- >”Anon? Are you alright?”
- >You jolt back to reality.
- >Yeah! Yeah, yeah I’m good, Luna. I’m gonna... go get the music. Forgot it in the other room.
- >You round the corner and rearrange your tackle.
- >Your jimmies are not rustled. Nay, it would be more appropriate to liken your jimmies to Alaskan sea life and the rustling forces to the fucking Exxon Valdez.
- >Why did she do this? HOW did she do this? Oh wait, fucking magic. Of course.
- >This changes things.
- >Wait, what?
- >How does this change things? She’s still the same Luna you know, just a little... distracting now.
- >She did THIS though. She changed herself. For you. You’re not dense. Does she... love you?
- >Luna peeks around the corner.
- >”Have you found the music yet, Anon?”
- >You come back to reality yet again.
- >”Just a sec, Luna.” You hurriedly fish around your dining room for the cd of classical music you had Octavia make up for you.
- >Aha! There it is!
- >Now it gets a little awkward.
- >Shit you sound like a pussy. You’re a Goddamn Green Beret. Nothing scares you.
- >Except this.
- >Do you love her like she loves you?
- >You can sort your feelings out later.
- >You manage to calm your rustled jimmies. Or at least shove your thoughts to the back of your mind so you can figure this shit out later.
- >Luna’s waiting still waiting for you in the living room.
- >”Alright! Let’s get this party started!” You call to her, trying your best to hide your nervousness.
- >Luna perks up at this.
- >You pop the cd into a modest sound system.
- >The soft methodical tones of a well-tuned piano fill the room. Slow, easy to get into the rhythm.
- >Luna calmly strides over to you, her previously unnoticed black evening gown making it seem like she’s floating just above the ground.
- >You settle into the basic closed position comfortably. Her hand grips yours a little tightly.
- >You count off, “1, 2, 3, 4.”
- >And away you two go.
- >You were right. You did need practice.
- >But you did better than you thought. Waltz always did come easily to you.
- >Luna, however, seemed a bit awkward and unsteady on her feet. She must still be getting used to her new body.
- >The last song ends. An awkward silence fills the room.
- >You don’t want to let go of her.
- >But then you remember: she wanted to go stargazing with you.
- >”Ready to go stargazing, Luna?”
- >A slight look of confusion briefly paints her face. Then an “Oh yeah!” look takes over.
- >She must have really been enjoying herself.
- >”Sure Anon! Grab the telescope and star charts I gave you. I want to take you to my favourite stargazing spot.”
- >You head up to your room and sling the ornate telescope gifted to you and several map tubes containing the star charts over your shoulder. You also grab a heavy wool blanket to lay down on the grass. Wouldn’t want your lady’s dress to get wet.
- >Planning like a sir
- >”Alright Luna, let’s head to this special spot of yours.” You say back downstairs.
- >Luna grins and a blue light envelops you both.
- >The light fades. You rub your eyes
- >This looks very familiar. Starlight streams through ruined arches, debris and broken glass litter the floor. In the center of the room a gigantic silver Armillary sphere sits, corroded and dejected.
- >The Temple of the Night. You saw it in Luna’s memories.
- >”The Temple sure has seen better days.”
- >”Yes. No one cared about it during my absence. But that’s not the point. I’m going to take you to the best stargazing spot in Equestria!”
- >She takes your one empty hand and practically pulls you down the hallway. You climb a circular staircase in the temple’s lonesome tower, Luna tugging you along impatiently all the while.
- >After a short while, you arrive at the tower. It is entirely enclosed. Magical blue light springs to rusted lanterns hanging from the walls.
- >”I have to admit Luna, this is a unique spot. I never would have thought to go stargazing in an enclosed room,” you sarcastically remark.
- >Luna laughs. It’s airy and light, and helps to put your mind further at ease.
- >”Oh, ye of little faith. That’s what we have the telescope for. Set it up in that circle in the center of the room.”
- >You unpack the ornate telescope and set it on its tripod. You notice three triangular slots in the ground. The legs of the tripod slide into them.
- >The roof rumbles, shakes, and folds open to the night sky like a stone flower.
- >You gaze up at a crystal clear midnight sky. An ocean of stars, far more than you had ever seen before, even in Afghanistan, stretches out before you.
- >Living constellations frolic in the heavens; Pisces, Scorpio, Ursa Major, the list goes on...
- >”This is incredible.”
- >”You think so?”
- >”What, are you kidding? Of course it is!”
- >You look back at Luna, who’s sitting back on your blanket, just watching you.
- >She pats a spot next to her, motioning you to join her on the ground.
- >You take her offer and hand her the map tube full of star charts.
- >You lean back, still trying take everything in. “Luna, this is amazing. I don’t have the words to describe it. I mean, YOU did this. You took years to make this and nobody noticed? Hell it was their loss!”
- >You look at Luna. She’s practically beaming at you.
- >You lie down on the wool blanket and just watch the night play out.
- >You would say more but your mind is kind of overwhelmed at this point.
- >All you can get out is a whispered, “Wow...”
- >Luna stays sitting, watching you intently.
- >Minutes of silence tick by.
- >A shooting star streaks across the sky, bright and clear.
- >”Make a wish Luna.”
- >”Hm?”
- >”It’s a human thing. See a shooting star, you make a wish.”
- >You feel her thin fingers against your hand.
- >You hesitate a moment then take them in your own.
- >”Why would I do that? I have everything I want right here.”
- >She squeezes your hand gently as she looks into your eyes
- >You feel a tad warmer than a moment ago.
- >Thoughts you shoved down in your mind rush to the surface.
- >Is this right?
- >She loves you, it’s easy to see now.
- >Do you love her?
- >She’s your closest friend here. She’s seen the depths of your soul and felt empathy, and you did the same with her. You both are an awful lot alike.
- >You KNOW each other. Not in some petty way, you both gave the other something you couldn’t give anyone else.
- >She cares for you deeply. She’s never asked anything from you, only given and given and given some more.
- >She did this, all this, just to make you happy.
- >Then you ask yourself, “What would you do for her?”
- >You don’t hesitate.
- >”Anything.”
- >You sit up and look at her, still holding her hand.
- >”Close your eyes, Luna.”
- >She obeys.
- >You lean in close
- >” Ever, always, only for you.”
- >You kiss her gently.
