  1. >After donning your original armor and grabbing your combi-flamer, plasma pistol and Lightning claw, you sling a bulging Imperial Guard backpack and a jump pack across the silent bike, strapping them in place.
  2. >Now straddling the bike, you push the large green start button on the handlebar, sending the bike roaring in ignition.
  3. >A quick twist of the handle and you’re tearing through Canterlot castle, grinning like plague marine in a lake of pus.
  4. >At the front gate, the guards, panic-stricken by you on your two wheeled machine of death roaring towards them, frantically try to open the massive doors to let you through.
  5. >Heavy emphasis on the word ‘try’.
  6. >They barely crack the door before you barrel through it, blasting the doors back on their hinges and ripping a marine sized hole in the ornate gate.
  7. >Splinters rain from the wood as you roar towards Ponyville, while annoyed guards shake their hooves and call curses after you.
  8. >Something about, “Fuckin’ kids these days…”
  9.
  10. >Spike re-shelved the ‘E’ Through ‘Er’ books in Twilight’s library alone, glumly working through his daily chores.
  11. >Twilight had left a few minutes after receiving a new letter from the princess, saying that she needed to round up the girls for something important.
  12. >Chosen’d said he’d only be gone that night. It’s nearly six o’clock now. Maybe he couldn’t scare the griffons like he wanted to…
  13. >If he didn’t come back, he wouldn’t be able to be a knight like he wanted…
  14. >Wait a second. What’s that noise?
  15. >It sounded like… Spike really didn’t know what it sounded like. Like grumbling thunder, except it was a clear day. The roar grew  louder, like it was getting closer.
  16. >He hopped down the ladder he stood on, running as fast as his short legs would carry him towards the nearest window.
  17. >By then, the noise was practically deafening.
  18. >Spike covered his ears and closed his eyes, trying to endure the savage sound.
  19. >BRRRRRRRROOOOOOOOOOOOOOM
  20. >BRRrrooo… doodoodoodoodoo… chk! Droooo…
  21. >The noise silenced and Spike looked out the window.
  22. >”Chosen’s back!” Spike exclaimed, running to the door.
  23.
  24. >You had turned to grab the overloaded backpack and your own jump pack when a purple and green lizard latched onto your leg.
  25. >”Good to see you too, Spike.”
  26. >”Did you scare the Griffons good?”
  27. >”Yeah, let’s go with that,” you noncommittally reply. “Anyway, did you ask Celestia if I could train you yesterday?”
  28. >”Yeah! She said you could!” Spike exclaims. “…But she said there would be a few rules…”
  29. >”Oh? Like what?”
  30. >He lets go of your leg and stands in front of you. “Well, she said I still needed to be Twilight’s assistant, at least for a while, so I can’t leave Ponyville if Twilight doesn’t let me, and I can’t train more than a few hours a day…”
  31. >It’s not perfect, but you’ll still be able to make some headway with the young dragon.
  32. >”That’s fine. It will just take longer. Here, take this.” You toss the bag gently at Spike, who tries his best to catch it, but gets knocked flat on his back by the weighty backpack.
  33. >”Can’t… Breathe!” He wheezes out.
  34. >You lift the bag off him.
  35. >”What’d ya get me? A ton of bricks?” He coughs out sarcastically.
  36. >”Stupid boy…” A voice whispers in your mind.
  37. >”Shut up,” you think after it, forcing it down and away.
  38. >You chuckle at Spike. “A few tools any neophyte would need. But I will teach you how to use them later. Are Twilight and the girls around? I must speak with them.”
  39. >”They’ll be back soon, Twilight went to get them a while ago. So what’d ya get me?!” He asked, ecstatic at the prospect of getting real weapons and armor.
  40. >You open the sack and sift through its contents, “For now, have this.”
  41. >You produce a training sword, blunt and heavy and hand it to Spike. It’s easily as long as he is.
  42. >He looks up at you, dumbfounded glee sparkling in his emerald eyes.
  43. >”This. Is. Awesome!”
  44. >He swings the sword around, imagining himself cutting some great beast to shreds, you guess.
  45. >”Thanks Chosen! I can’t believe I’ve got my own sword!” He profusely thanks you, admiring his new blade. You’ve made him truly happy with this. A warm feeling spreads through your chest. You can’t help but smile under your helm.
  46. >”Now Spike, this is a tool, not a toy. It’s not sharp and is heavier than a sword you will someday wield. However, you will keep it well cleaned and ready at all times, understand?”
  47. >”Yes sir!” He salutes somewhat sloppily. That can be forgiven, though.
  48. >”Alright, put the sword in your room for now. I’ll start teaching you the basics tomorrow.”
  49. >”Awesome!” he exclaims, jumping in the air before running in the library.
  50. >”Alright, now I just need to find Twilight and the girls…”
  51. >”Oh! Chosen, you’re already here!” A familiar voice calls.
  52. >You turn to face the Twilgiht. All of the girls are present. For some reason they saw it prudent to bring Gilda along as well.
  53. >She waves at you. She seems to have gotten over the anger she displayed back at Canterlot Castle.
  54. >Remembering Celestia’s wish that you be friendly towards the exiled princess, you amiably wave back.
  55. >She and Rainbow Dash land beside you, and you all exchange polite hellos.
  56. >”So… How are you?” you ask the griffon.
  57. >”I’ll be good. Dad’s a jerk at the best of times, so fuck ‘em! I’m staying at Dash’s place ‘til I can snag a job, so you don’t need to worry about me.”
  58. >”Make no mistake, I’ll lose no sleep worrying about you…” You think.
  59. >”Have you all figured out who’ll I’ll stay with for the time being?” You ask, turning toward the purple mare.
  60. >”Well that’s the problem…” Rarity replies instead.
  61. >”Technically you could live with any of us…” Twilight stated.
  62. >”But AH think ya should stay with me!” Applejack intoned proudly. “I got more space than Twilight or Rarity, and my family’d love ya!”
  63. >”Oh pish-posh,” Rarity remarks. “Someone like our dear Chosen wouldn’t want to stay at a dirty old farm! He needs a place with class! Carousel Boutique should do nicely, don’t you think, Chosen?”
  64. >”I think-“
  65. >”What Chosen really would like is to stay someplace like the library! That way he wouldn’t have to go far to do research for his friendship reports for Celestia.” Twilight argued with a slight crack in her voice. She seems very nervous and distracted.
  66. >”Celestia never said-“
  67. >”Um… Chosen?” Fluttershy mumbles as she gingerly taps on your greave. “Y-you could always just stay w-with me and sleep on the couch like last time. That is, if you want to…”
  68. >”Fluttershy, I-“
  69. >”What’d you say about mah farm?!” Applejack growls at Rarity.
  70. >”Well it IS just a jumble of trees and dirt, unbefitting of one so… unique as Chosen.”
  71. >”Rarity, I don’t-“
  72. >”You could always live with me at Sugarcube Corner! We could party and make cakes and play with Gummy-“
  73. >”Pinkie, Mr. and Mrs. Cake said they don’t have any room for Chosen with their kids running around,” Rainbow Dash cut in.
  74. >”Oh yeah…” Pinkie responded, finally letting reasoning surpass her hyperactive party emotions.
  75. >Applejack and Rarity are ready to trade blows, Twilight is still spouting how logical it was for you to stay with her, Fluttershy continued her mumbling, while Pinkie Pie just hopped around the chaos, off in her own little world.
  76. >Rainbow Dash looks at Gilda, who looks back at her. They exchange a look that only says, “Really? Really.”
  77. >You hadn’t thought such a burden would be so desirable to these ponies.
  78. >Time to cut through the arguing.
  79. >You draw your combi-bolter and spray a burst of bolt shells into the dirt in front of you.  Gilda and all the ponies jump and cover their ears, ceasing their arguing.
  80. >”What the hay was THAT for, Chosen?!” Applejack remarks, hooves still clamped over her head.
  81. >”Well, it’s become abundantly clear who I’m going to stay with,” You remark, having made your decision.
  82. >”Who’s it gonna be? Who’s it gonna be? Who’s it gonna be?!” Pinkie Pie inquires, bouncing in place with each sentence.
  83. >”Because you all are arguing like children, I’m going to stay with Fluttershy.”
  84. >Applejack, Rarity and Twilight “Aww…” in disappointment while Fluttershy beams at you.
  85. >”Now that we’ve got all that settled, let’s hit the bar and celebrate!” Pinkie Pie exclaims, tooting a party horn that materialized out of nowhere.
  86. >”Yeah! Sign me up!” Gilda agrees, high-fiving Rainbow Dash.
  87. >”You all do realize I can’t get drunk? My preomnor organ filters out any kind of toxin that enters my body. I may as well just get settled in at Fluttershy’s house instead.”
  88. >”Oh no, you’re not dumping us that easily, Chosen,” Gilda speaks up, grabbing your arm. “We’re gonna put your little pre-nom-thingy to the test.”
  89. >”And how, exactly, am I going to buy alcohol if I don’t have any money?”
  90. >”I’ll pay your tab tonight, Chosen. My treat.” Rarity generously offers.
  91. >You hadn’t tasted alcohol for centuries, since that banquet a certain Space Wolf captain threw in your company’s honor during the Great Crusade. While you hadn’t enjoyed the company, the Fenrisian ale had truly been an… experience.
  92. >Maybe they’ll have something similar here. You promise yourself not to get as carried away as that night.
  93. >”Alright then. Lead on.”
  94.
  95. >Meanwhile, somewhere in the void…
  96. >”AFTER THEM! I WANT TO SEE THEM BURN!” Screamed Captain Nonus to the small crowd of mortal naval ratings and servitors clustered around the bridge he commanded. Several lay dead from the horrendous damage their Strike Cruiser, Blood of the Father, had sustained from that damnable Eldar ambush.
  97. >The majority of that xenos force lay in pieces, their proud Craftworld Ulthwe colors burned even blacker by numerous lance strikes, plasma shells and macrobattery volleys.
  98. >Around the dais of his command throne stood the remnants of his Attramentar honor guard, terminator armor still bearing the scars of repelling the boarders that had ghosted into the ship.
  99. >”Damnable Ulthwe… You will burn and scream and die for this ambush… No one attacks the Night Lords and gets away with it!” Nonus hissed through clenched teeth.
  100. >A short three thousand miles away, a nearly crippled Eldar ship opens a portal into the Webway. The hole in reality shone ghostly white against the stark background of the void like a star being born.
  101. >”Captain! The Eldar are fleeing into the webway!” A nameless mortal called out above the wailing alarms and crackling electronics.
  102. >There was no way Blood of the Father’s decimated forward guns could destroy the Eldar ship before it made its escape.
  103. >But the Wraithship was moving so slowly…
  104. >Perhaps…
  105. >”ALL POWER TO ENGINES! FOLLOW THEM INTO THE WEBWAY!”
  106. >All eyes on the bridge turn to their captain, some in wide eyed shock, most in fearful confusion. Even the honor guard glares at him.
  107. >”Lord, are you insane!?” Erok inquires, the amplifiers in his terminator helm turning his shock into a tinny bellow.
  108. >”I WILL NOT LET THESE ELDAR ESCAPE WITH THE BLOOD OF 43 BATTLE BROTHERS ON THEIR HANDS! FOLLOW THEM!” Nonus rages once more, shaking the mortals where they stand.
  109. >With a powerful lurch, the strike cruiser bolts through the blackness, hot on the heels of the wraithship.
  110. >The hole was closing…
  111. >”FASTER!”
  112. >With another burning pulse, the Blood of the Father threw itself into the Webway, thoughts vengeance stealing all sanity from its pursuit.
