- “Damn freak, you think you can just live in our neighbourhood?”
- The voice rings down the street. Mares and Stallions quickly left the street, as Darkly Drifter hears hoof-steps behind him.
- “Did you believe you could just stay here, and no p0ny wouldn’t ask questions? You are a fucking asshole.”
- A tall, skinny stallion spat out those words, while circling around him.
- He just smiled. Little pieces of scum always think they can get rid of him.
- Truth be told, he was stuck here. Manehatten was too tough and dangerous for him, Appleloosa’s sheriff was out for his blood, and Canterlot had too many guards.
- He looked down at the puddle by his feet, frowning at his scars and black fur. His blue eyes stared intently back at him. He found his name funny. Darkly Drifter.
- The rude stallion cuffed you round the face.
- “Little piece of shit, I know the rumours! You’re a fucking…”
- Darkly Drifter smacked his face with the back of his hoof, and quickly pounded his head with both of his hooves.
- P0nyville was pretty much calm, but still had some bad occupants. Darkly Drifter was one of them. He was usually found in a bar, drinking until he was drunk, or knocked out. He was despised by the general population, because of the many rumours about him.
- Some believed he was a murderer. He never gave them the satisfaction of the truth though, so they just avoided him.
- He snapped out of his thoughts, as the stallion underneath his fore hooves moaned and stirred.
- A shrill cry from a nearby pony made him take the pressure of his fallen foes head, and quickly turn away.
- Darkly didn’t mind P0yville, but had found some annoying p0nies among the coloured horde, Twilight being one of them. She would always get angry with him, and shout at Darkly. He would just back hoof her, but something stopped Him. She wasn’t bad. She was also Fluttershy’s friend. And he liked Fluttershy. She wasn’t an annoying cunt, nor a rich git. She was calm and mostly innocent.
- Darkly just shook his head, and turned to the oncoming Twilight.
- “What makes you think you can just go around and hurt p0nies? They are innocent, and haven’t done anything to you!”
- “He called me multiple insulting names, and hit me.”
- “Well, you should have just walked away!”
- “And you should stop sticking your stupid nose in p0nies business!”
- “At least I’m not horrendously ugly with scars across my face!”
- ---
- Darkly’s face portrayed evil emotions. A mix of regret, pride and malice.
- Twilight stumbled on her words. She never liked to insult p0nies, but Darkly annoyed her. He always seemed to try and prove he was an alpha male, or he would rarely show signs of emotion. Twilight tried to make him show some kind of feeling, whenever they met. She would always be repaid with a cold hearted p0ny. But now she struck a nerve, and was afraid. Darkly seemed to open his mouth, but couldn’t seem to think of anything to say. His eyes glazed over, and after a few moments, he walked away. Twilight shook her head. She did not want to deal with this right now. She carried on walking home, relishing the thought of a warm bed and drink. She glanced at the sky, and saw the dark clouds swooping over the town, as the sun set. A few minutes later, she reached her home, and had already taken off her waterproofs and bags.
- “Hey Twilight!” Spike called from upstairs. His voice had started to get deeper lately, and over the past month, it seemed to settle. He quickly hopped down the stairs, and gave Twilight a hug. His arms and legs also grew longer, but still not enough to reach p0ny height.
- “Hey Spike, did you send that letter to the princess?”
- “Of course! I also re-shelved the fiction section.” He chirped back.
- “What would I do without you?” Twilight cooed.
- ---
- “What am I going to do with you?” Fluttershy moaned.
- “I said I’m sorry!” Darkly whined, stretching out the last words.
- “Well, sorry is not good enough, mister! You’re going to go to her house tomorrow, knock on her door and apologise to her, face to face!” She ordered.
- Darkly and Fluttershy were sitting on her couch, drinking tea. Darkly rarely went into Fluttershy’s house, unless something was wrong. This was partly because Fluttershy didn’t trust him much, and partly because he liked the outdoors. At least that’s what he told her. He would never tell the true reason.
- “I guess it’s for the best… I might as well get her a gift while at it. Mares see gifts as a friendship request, right?”
- “You are absolutely hopeless around mares, aren’t you?” She giggled.
- He kept his best poker face on. “That’s because you never put out.”
- “W-what? You don’t r-really like me like that, do you?”
- He sighed heavily, and just looked at Fluttershy.
- “Take a joke.”
- “T-that was not funny…”
- “It was for me.”
- She glanced out of the window in discomfort, trying to find a new subject.
- “It’s raining…”
- “Aw crap. I better get going. I don’t want to get caught in it…” He looked down-trodden, and sad.
- “You could stay with me… if you wanted to, of course…” She was immediately regretting asking that.
- “Really?”
- “If you want…”
- He wrapped his hooves around her, and gave her a squeeze, causing her to let out a light squeal.
- “Thanks, ‘Shy, you’re the best.”
- “I’ll go grab you a pillow and a blanket…” She mumbled, and hovered away.
- Darkly leaned back, and sighed. At least he was happy today. He felt a tapping on his head, and looked up.
- Angel stood there, looking angry.
- “Don’t worry, punk, I won’t take Fluttershy way. She’s not my type.”
- “What’s not your type?” Fluttershy asked, as she trotted into the room.
- “Uh… nothing. Do I get a bed, or am I crashing on the couch? Or even better, am I sleeping by the bottom of your bed?”
- “Spare room… it’s made up for you, just go on when you’re tired.” She said, smiling slightly.
- “When are you heading to bed?” He asked. Angel hopped of his head, and scampered away.
- “N-now…”
- “Then I better go to bed too. Thanks again.”
- “Don’t mention it…”
- Darkly got up from his sitting position, and quickly went up the stairs. He reached the spare room, and climbed under the covers, then closed his eyes.
- “Night, ‘Shy…”
- ---
- She was always a light sleeper, but this was different. Animals don’t make those kinds of thumps.
- Fluttershy slid out of bed, and quickly crept to the spare bedroom. She wanted to see if Darkly was up and about.
- She creaked open the door, and stuck her head in the gap.
- “Darkly?”
- “Mpph…?”
- “I think somep0ny is downstairs…”
- “Muh.” He grunted, and lifted himself up, while stretching his back. He climbed down from the bed, and walked pass Fluttershy, mumbling something about knifes. Fluttershy now realized why she liked Darkly. She was safe with him.
