  1. >You open your eyes only to be immediately blinded by a bright light.
  2. >Quickly you shut them again.
  3. >Dancing colors float about on the blackness of your eyelids.
  4. >You turn your attention to your other senses.
  5. >Your hands grasped two bunches of something.
  6. >Must be grass.
  7. >Your arms crept around the outline of your body that you could reach.
  8. >All grass.
  9. >You turn your hands to yourself.
  10. >Skin. Soft. Somewhat hairy.
  11. >Naked except for your boxers.
  12. >You reach in. Dick as expected and... a banana?
  13. >You pull the banana out and place it beside you.
  14. >Next you turned to your thoughts.
  15. >Name. Anonymous. You were from - blank.
  16. >Beyond your name and basic definitions everything was blank.
  17. >One thought pushed itself, as if guided, to the front of your mind.
  18. >Courtesy. The art of being polite and kind to others.
  19. >Must be important or at least useful.
  20. >A question slowly rises.
  21. >How did I get here? Where is here?
  22. >No one just forgets their past unless something traumatic happened.
  23. >Given that you were laying in the grass mostly naked something must have...
  24. >Your internal monologue is interrupted by two fairly high-pitched voices.
  25.
  26. >They sounded like they were getting closer. You decided to try your eyes again.
  27. >Hopefully avoiding whatever it was that had... the sun.
  28. >Big ball of light in the sky.
  29. >You felt like an idiot for not remembering that.
  30. >Perhaps the rest of your memories would seep in like that one.
  31. >You turned your head to the left where you heard the voices and opened your eyes.
  32. >Green, rolling meadows as far as you could see.
  33. >There was a gradual incline downwards towards a lake.
  34. >A dirt path ran parallel to the lake and led uphill towards you.
  35. >On the path you saw two creatures.
  36. >One white. One yellow.
  37. >One with wings and one with a horn.
  38. >You struggled to find a word to name the two creatures, but you drew another blank.
  39. >The pink one had pink hair that curled in a swooping arc underneath its torso, while the had purple one >had hair that twisted gracefully almost to the ground.
  40. >You couldn't decipher exactly what they were saying, but they were certainly the source of the noise and were walking up the path closer to your position.
  41. >You sat up and looked your self over. You were clearly not like them.
  42. >The white one must have seen your movement because she had stopped and turned your way.
  43. >"What is that?" She pointed a leg at you.
  44. >The yellow creature had also stopped and now turned towards you.
  45. >"Oh my. I've never seen an animal like that before.'
  46. >The yellow creature left the path and began slowly walking your way.
  47.
  48. >"Don't be afraid. I won't hurt you."
  49. >The white one spoke up.
  50. >"Why, it sort of looks like a monkey. Albeit a bigger one with less hair. Not nearly as cute as the ones at the Manehatten Zoo."
  51. >"Oh look," the yellow one cooed "he even has a banana. And he's wearing cute little shorts."
  52. "They're called boxers." You said, proud of this bit of knowledge you had preserved.
  53. >Clearly they were intelligent, and could speak your language. You didn't know what a monkey was, but it was a better description than just a name.
  54. "Am I really a creature called a monkey? Can I ask also what you two are?"
  55. >The yellow creature squealed and ran back to the white one, shrinking behind her.
  56. >The white one looked somewhat taken aback.
  57. >"Um... Well that is what you appear to be. Do you not know what you are?"
  58. >You were about to answer abruptly with a demand to an answer to both of your questions but you stopped yourself.
  59. >Might as well use what you have. Courtesy.
  60. >You spoke as if from impulse.
  61. "There's not much that I do know ma'am, although I'm pretty sure my name's Anonymous."
  62. >The white one seemed to regain her composure and straightened up.
  63. >She walked towards you and extended a leg.
  64. >"My name is Rarity, and this is my friend Fluttershy."
  65. >She pointed to the yellow creature, who was now awkwardly pawing at the ground trying to look as small as possible.
  66. >"To answer your question from before, we are ponies, and I for one am pleased to make your acquaintance Anonymous."
  67. >It seemed like your impulses were effective. You continued to let them have their way.
  68.
  69. >You bent down, took her leg and gently kissed the end.
  70. "I am honored to meet you Miss Rarity. And you as well Miss Futtershy. I have many questions.
  71. Would you both be so kind as to humor them?"
  72. >Rarity daintily pulled her leg from your hand as color came to her white face.
  73. >"Anonymous, you say you have no memories, but you obviously know something about flattery."
  74. "Everything really. My mind is pretty blank."
  75. >"Well there is only one pony I know who knows everything - or at least believes she does. We would be just delighted if you would accompany us on our trip back to ponyville. That is where Twilight's library is."
  76. >You put on your most friendly smile.
  77. "I would be happy to join you to meet this Twilight, and happier still to have such quality company."
  78. >"Oh you charmer, you. Let us be off then. Come Fluttershy, I think Anonymous has proven himself to be a gentlcol- a well-mannered monkey."
  79. >Fluttershy trotted warily back to Rarity's other side and glanced at you from behind her hair.
  80. >"It's, um, really nice to meet you Mister Anonymous." She said quickly and quietly, then looked down.
  81. "In your own words Miss Fluttershy, don't be afraid. I won't hurt you."
  82. >She looked back up and muttered a quick OK.
  83. >You look down and grab your banana.
  84. >The three of you walked back to the path.
  85. >You peeled the banana, took a bite, and began following Rarity to wherever she was leading you.
  86.
  87. Twilight Sparkle's Point of View
  88. >Today you were expecting a visitor.
  89. >You had just finished your weekly re-shelving all of of the books in your library.
  90. "Perfect as always." You said to yourself contentedly and stepped down from the ladder mounted against one of many shelves of books.
  91. "Spike!" You yelled.
  92. >Within 5 seconds he was by your side.
  93. >Ever since his jealousy over Owloysius, he had been a better assistant than ever.
  94. >"What do you need Twilight?"
  95. "I need a quill and a blank scroll to be set on the table please."
  96. >"I'm on it." He said as he ran towards the dining room.
  97. >The Princess had sent to a letter for your eyes only telling you of a friend of hers who would need some assistance.
  98. >She had told you that he came from another land and was having some issues with his memory.
  99. >Since she and Luna were preparing for the Grand Galloping Gala, she needed you to answer any questions he might have.
  100. >However she had been very specific that he was not to know that you were expecting him.
  101. >She said something about how regaining one's memory naturally was much less traumatic then by explaining their situation to them.
  102. >Your meeting was to be seen to him as a coincidence.
  103. >You accepted this as you did all of the Princess' judgments.
  104. >After all, you were her number one student.
  105. >She had said that she was dropping him off somewhere near town, and that he would inevitably find his way to your library for answers.
  106. >He who's first stop would be a library.
  107. >He had already sounded like your kind of pony.
  108.
  109. >Another land.
  110. >You wondered if he was a pony or some other type of creature.
  111. >It was a shame that he had no memories, because you always enjoyed learning about unfamiliar things.
  112. >When they came back to him, you had so many questions for him.
  113. >About his land, his history, his life...
  114. >You loved new information.
  115. >Oh well.
  116. >For now you would do the answering to his questions.
  117. >Sharing things that you knew was almost as good.
  118. >You checked the table to make sure you had it set up so he could take notes.
  119. >There sat on it a quill and many empty scrolls.
  120. >Spike always followed your direction well.
  121. >You smiled to yourself.
  122. >You hoped he would be as interesting as were expecting.
  123. >The Princess hadn't told you much about him.
  124. >She had just asked you to help him.
  125. >Help him you would, if only to restore his memories.
  126. >The things you would learn.
  127. >You headed upstairs to wait for your guests arrival.
