  2. >You... Are Anonymous
  3. >And today is the day
  4. >The day you've been working and training your ASS OFF for
  5. >The day you've been waiting for since you could first hold a carving knife
  6. >This day is going to be PERFECT!
  7. >Today, YOU are going to be assigned your hunting ground
  8. >The grounds where YOU will learn
  9. >The grounds where YOU will train
  10. >The grounds where YOU WILL master the ways of the hunter
  11. >The grounds where YOU and ONLY YOU will be assigned until you've proven yourself worthy of joining
  12. >The Hunter's Guild
  13.
  14. >You'd boarded the airship headed for Loc Lac hours ago
  15. >So, it was no surprise that you'd fallen asleep
  16. >Almost as soon as you'd drifted off, the ship comes in to a jarring landing on the dock.
  17. >You finally awaken just in time to see the others on the ship with you have departed for the city proper
  18. >Some were new hopefuls like you
  19. >Others were veterans returning to the city to hunt larger monsters with the aid of other veterans
  20. >You're fairly certain one of them was wearing full set of armor crafted from Fatalis
  21. >It was awe-inspiring
  22. >But now you're daydreaming
  23. >Quit that
  24. >You head into the city proper through the gates, your destination set and certain
  25. >You head through the city, into the hunter's district and-
  26. >Whoa
  27.

  29. >That is the longest line you think you've ever seen
  30. >And there's some sort of commotion at the front
  31. >Oh look, it's all the other new hopefuls, and a ton of others
  32. >They seem to arguing about something with the one wyverian at the counter
  33. >He must be the registrar, but what's with the massive hold up?
  34. >You always were the inquisitive type, so you decided to head up front to see what the commotion was about
  35. >The wyverian notices you and your lackluster clothing, and just rolls his eyes.
  36. >"Oh great, another newbie coming to join the guild. Look, kid. We appreciate that there's so many people willing to toss out their lives to keep the world a touch safer, but we ain't signing up any more new recruits in this location."
  37. >What?
  38. >No, seriously, what?
  39. >You didn't come out here to just be told "Nope, go away".
  40. "Surely there's something? I know there are limited hunting grounds and all, but that is just crazy."
  41.
  42. >Another newbie speaks up
  43. >"Yeah, problem is though, we ain't willin' to go to the new guild location. It's ridiculous. We want in here, not some colorful land of faeries."
  44. >Wyverian: "Look, we've set up a new guild location, but none of the current hunters are willing to go do reconnaissance for it. We opened it up because it's full of new monsters we ain't run into before, and the local monarch is up to her neck in too many other things to be sending in her armies after them. Something about a royal wedding being invaded or something."
  45. >"I don't have all the details, but I know she wasn't too thrilled about having to make the decision. But it was either that, or spread her forces too thin to properly defend. She only wants whats best for her people. So we offered to send some of our experienced hunters there."
  46. >"But they just don't wanna go do it. We keep hearing that they don't think there's any challenge to it. We just need ONE person to out there, and then maybe other hunters will start lining up. Now, who's gonna be that one person?"
  47.
  48. >Silence
  49. >This...
  50. >This isn't right
  51. >Any promising hunter would have jumped at the chance to start in an area unknown, even by guild standards
  52. >And all of these grunts think they're too good for it
  53. >No, fuck that
  54. >Their lack of action will make this new set of hunting grounds your own
  55. >He who hesitates, is lost
  56. >Fuck the risks, you're doing it
  57. >You turn to the crowd gathered there
  58. "You are all COWARDS, and deserve to have lifetime banishment from your homelands. If none of you have enough of a hunter's spirit for this, you should never have come here to begin with."
  59. >You turn from the crowd, to the wyverian
  60. >You've shocked him with your words, and he just stares at you
  61. "Sir, I volunteer to be the first new hunter at this location. Sign me up, and I'll do my best to make sure the honor of The Guild is not besmirched."
  62.
  63. >"Well, finally. Someone with a true hunter's spirit. Good on ya, boy, good on ya. I'll do just that."
  64. >He gathers your information, and hands you a packet
  65. >"The new guild is currently headed by the ruler of Equestria, until such time as a hunter proves themselves there. You do well enough, kid, you're gonna be running an entire guild on your own out there."
  66. >He points to another airship, docked behind the kiosk
  67. >"Board that ship, and go deliver that packet to the princess. It'll explain our situation to her. She probably won't like it too much, but if I know here well enough, she'll still give ya a shot. Just don't screw it up too badly, alright?"
  68. "I'll do better than my best, I give my word as a hunter."
  69. >"You've got spirit, I just hope you've got the talent too. Now get going, her and her sister need a hunter there, pronto."
  70. >You salute the guildmaster wyverian, and sprint for the waiting airship
  71. >As it takes off, you realize just what happened
  72. >You're getting to what few hunters ever get to do
  73. >You're going to meet royalty
  74. >You're getting to hunt in a land that the guild doesn't even really know about
  75. >And if you play your cards right, you're gonna be the head of a new chapter of The Hunter's Guild
  76. >Today is a good. Fucking. Day.
  77. >As the ship flies off towards it's new destination, sleep once again overtakes you
