- >You are Anonymous.
- >Today, you find yourself doing something you never thought you'd be doing.
- >Shopping for foal sized pajamas.
- >Specifically, for a onesie for you're adoptive batcolt, Gingersnap.
- >Said colt was currently doing as foals were want to do in clothes stores, hiding in the racks.
- >So far, he'd actually managed to evade you for about 20 minutes as you perused the colt's pajama section.
- >In fact, you were starting to get worried.
- "Gingersnap! Come here and tell me what you think of this one."
- >You wait a few moments, but fail to hear any hoofsteps coming up behind you, concerned you scan the store for your wayward batcolt.
- >Looking back down, you give an almost unmanly shriek.
- >There, in full storybook cliche, is Gingersnap whom is blissfully unaware that he'd just given his 'father' a miniature heart attack.
- >The batcolt is holding a white article of clothing, urgently motioning for you to take it from his grasp for inspection.
- >Taking the proffered garment you look it over, a puzzled look growing more and more evident upon your face.
- >The outfit in question is a white onesie, but that's not what bothers you.
- >It's the little pink and light blue butterflies adorning the pajamas that's throwing your brain for a loop.
- "Gingersnap, where did you get this?"
- >The colt motions enthusiastically towards the fillies section of the store. "Over there! Why do the fillies get all the fun colors Dad?"
- >You stare blankly back at the Gingersnap, who's giving you an imploring look.
- "That's because gir-"
- >"ANON! Goodness, I never would have thought you had a colt, or a foal for that matter!"
- >Turning around, you see your coworker, Velvet Dusk, her long maroon mane resting against the side of her neck, accentuating her dark copper coat.
- "He's not mi-"
- >"DAD! Is she my mom? If she isn't can she be?"
- >Mortified, you stare down at the bouncing batcolt, embarrassment burning on your cheeks and ears as Gingersnap launches into a tirade of questions directed at Velvet Dusk.
- >"Do you like Dad? I'm pretty sure Dad like you because you're pretty. If you do like Dad, would you like to be my Mommy too? Oh! Please sa-"
- >Panicking you scoop the yammering batcolt up, cradling him, you stuff the side of your hand into his mouth in a desperate move to silence the embarrassing questions.
- >You wince slightly as his jaw clamps down, a gentle suction informs you your gamble paid off, as Gingersnap instinctively feeds, a content look on his face.
- >A gentle cough brings you attention back to Velvet Dusk, her ears are pinned back as she scuffs the floor with a hoof.
- >"W-well, that, that was definitely a thing, that happened, just a moment ago, right here."
- >The flustered mare wasn't somebody you'd expect to be tripping over words, though as soon as you opened your own mouth she'd probably look like a poet.
- >Thankfully, that doesn't happen for a few minutes, as strange as it is, the silence between you two isn't too awkward.
- >Thoughts collected you begin to talk, but are, as seems par for the course today, interrupted by a small 'pop' and an adorable yawn from the now fully fed batcolt in your arms.
- >"He's pretty darn adorable you know" Velvet says softly, a maternal tone in her voice, as she watches Gingersnap wiggle about in your arms till he finds a comfortable position to sleep in.
- "Yeah, he is, and for what its worth, I'm sorry about what he said, though he's right in the regard that you're pretty."
- >You find that you don't regret saying that last part, as she hmm's in agreement.
- >"Well, he's in good hands." She says the last part with a bit of a smirk. "Anyway, I'd best be on my way Anon, I'll see you at work."
- >Velvet Dusk walks past you, leaving you once again scrambling for words.
- >By the time you sort things in your head out, you're left with a sleeping Gingersnap and unspoken words.
- >Sighing, you finish shopping and head home.
