A Mother’s Love

 

 

It was a warm summer morning. Twilight sat on her large, midnight blue pillow in the main area of the library. She was skimming through a book that was unusually light for her tastes; “The Elements of Parenting.” She looked up as she reached the beginning of a new chapter titled: “The Element of Patience”

 

She glanced out the window. The sky was pure blue, not a cloud left in the sky. It was about 10 months since she and her friends had their last adventure, which ended disastrously for a certain Pegasus and also resulted in the death of their pink friend, but nevertheless it has become almost boring for the group as of late. Pinkie would have described it as being between seasons.

She sighed and looked back down to her book.  “To be a good parent you must also be a good teacher. Patience is necessity for a child’s upbringing.” She read to herself. “You must understand that your new, young colt or filly will have to-“

*BANG BANG BANG*

The purple unicorn jolted up from her book, surprised by the banging on her door.

“TWILIGHT! TWILIGHT,DARLING! IT’S TIME!” Rarity’s voice shouted from beyond the door.

“It’s time? IT’S TIME!” Twilight said excitedly.

She then quickly stood up, and teleported out of the library, and onto the front porch.

She and Rarity exchanged a quick words of greeting and began to gallop off to Ponyville Urgent Care Center.

“AA-AA-AAAAAAAAGGGGHH!”

“Cummon’ Sugarcube, you can make it! We know s you’re a tough little thing.

“AAAAA*sob*AAAAGGH!”

“Seriously, if you can take a drill at full power this shouldn’t be anything.”

“I-I*sob*P-P-PleaseAAAAAAAGGGHH!”

“Rainbow, that ain’t  helpin’ nopony”

“Well, it’s true”

“W-why is thissssAAARRGGG!”

“Dear Celestia, this is disgusting.”

Fluttershy was in three hours into labor. She was lying on a bed in room 34 of the Ponyville Urgent Care Center. Applejack was right beside her the whole time, the yellow ones hoof in her own, whispering words of encouragement. RainbowDash was there too, but was not as emotionally involved. Spike sat on a lawn chair in the corner of the room. His head was resting in his hands, and his face was a light shade of green.

The two doctors in the room, Nurse Red Heart and Dr. Stable, were franticly doing everything they could to get that baby out. Though there was some apparent tension between the two. Nurse RedHeart wouldn’t look the Dr. Stable in the eye, and the two would only speak to one another if it was absolutely necessary. They were just married a few weeks ago so no one knew why they were like this.

Fluttershy had her legs spread and raised. Her eyes were shut tight and she was sweating profusely. The only sounds that came from her were screams of agony and incoherent babbling. Various substances were leaking from her marehood. The foal inside her was poised and ready for evacuation but wouldn’t exit, as if to purposely prolong its mother’s suffering.  

“Now don’t fret sugarcube, once Rarity comes back with Twilight all your friends will be here for ya.”Applejack said soothingly.

And as if on command the two unicorns in question burst into the room.

“Did we miss the delivery?” Twilight asked breathlessly.

Nurse RedHeart shook her head. “No, it won’t come out. It’s in the correct position, but no matter how hard she pushes it won’t budge.  I’m afraid if this goes on for any longer we will be forced to operate.”  

”Oh, the little darling’s just stuck? Well, I’m sure I can help you through this predicament.” Rarity interjected.

“And what do you know about birthing foals.” Rainbow said from Fluttershy’s bedside.

“Oh Rainbow,” Rarity said “A worldly mare like myself must have these kinds of skills.” She then addressed   the two doctors, ”May I?”

The two looked at each other for the first time that day and then nodded.

“If it’s ok with the patient’” Dr. Stable answered. He then turned to Fluttershy,” Is It ok with you?”

 

“GETITOUTGETITOUTGETITOUTGETITOOOOOUUUUUTT!”

Rarity took this as a yes and approached the exit point. She lit up her horn and bent inwards. Everyone else in the room surrounded her to get a good look at what she was about to do.

 

She took a deep breath and said, “Let’s begin, shall we?”
