- A tale from Aspiring Slaaneshi...
- "COME, YOUNG FOLLOWERS OF THE PRINCE(ESS?) OF PLEASURE, AND LET ME TELL YOU A TALE MOST TITILATING..."
- Isaac took off his helmet; it was done. He finally destroyed the Marker. Pieces of debris rained down in the marker containment room.
- Two years of madness and insanity, of evil tortures at the hands of Titan Station, and more specifically, Director Tidemann. So much pain, suffering, and death, all because of what was seen as a potential energy source.
- He shook his head. Nothing was going to happen now. He finished his fight, killed the Nicolemorph inside of him, haunting his dreams and visions with horrors and taunts, trying to drive him into oblivion, all from inside his mind.
- And he killed it.
- He won.
- It was a Pyrrhic victory, obvious from the entire station coming down around him, but he felt more satisfied than he had ever been before.
- "WARNING: Reactor Containment Destabilised," a robotic female voice intoned, "A Reactor Breach is Imminent. Evacuation of All Personnel Is Required. This Is Not A Drill..."
- He slumped down on the raise in the floor, tired and exhausted. He has some time to rest, right? It's not like he's making it out.
- "Engaging Auxilary Power Systems..."
- Rubbing his temples, he felt another headache, but this time devoid of anything foreign. Just himself, finally.
- "WARNING: Reactor Containment Failure. A Reactor Breach Is Now In Progress. Evacuate Immediately, All Personnel, All Civilians. This Is Not A Drill..."
- But, he felt something new.
- He felt closure.
- It was a nice feeling, like being able to float weightlessly, free of doubts and burdens.
- Wait, no, that was the antigravity giving out.
- "Life Support Failure. Seek Protection Immediately."
- 'Heh, not like anyone's even alive on the station to heed the warnings,' he thought to himself. 'Oh, hey, I am thinking to myself, at long last. Funny how that works out...'
- Suddenly, a bright blue screen pops up right in his face.
- P2
- The woman he had met recently named Ellie popped up in the comm window that was up front and in his face.
- "You. Complete. Bastard. This was your great Plan, dump me off and die?"
- Shit, this was how it was going to end, not with a bang, but a whimper from nagging?
- Nodding his head, he replied, "Heh, I'm full of bad ideas, remember?"
- Ellie manipulated a few offscreen controls, focused on the panel in front of her, while saying,
- "Yeah, well here's another one: I'm crashing through the roof to get you." What? Isaac started to shake his head, about to deny it, when she said, "Now Move Your Ass!"
- Isaac was almost at a loss for words.
- Almost.
- "Wait! No! Ellie! Ellie, it's too late, steer clear of the station!" She was NOT doing this, she was SO NOT DOING THIS TO HIM.
- P3
- "Yeah, well you don't really have a say this time. Heads up!"
- He was about to up like suggested, when suddenly the entire room was rocked, staggering him. Getting his bearings again, he looked up to see a gunship trying to steady itself from the high-velocity entrance, circling around the Marker.
- Goddamnit, Ellie.
- "WARNING: HULL BREACH. DECOMPRESSION...
- [Spoiler] (BeginSpoilerPortion)
- -an odd, faint purple glow permeated the air, and he started smelling smoke and something else... Huh, probably just gas-
- (EndSpoilerPortion)
- WARNING, GRAVITY FAILURE."
- Another shock from underneath his feet rocked him into the air, where he quickly re activated his helmet and powered his suit systems to full.
- Toggling the activator for the jet boots, he began to rocket towards the gunship, which had to start flying again to both avoid the debris but also to gain enough momentum to exit the station, while still allowing him to catch up.
- Navigating through the chunks of rubble floating around the marker, Isaac could only keep boosting to reach the gunship.
- Corkscrewing slowly around the Marker, the ship rotated to allow Isaac to see the side; Ellie was at an opened side-hatch, reaching out for him.
- Unfortunately, luck was not on their side.
- P4
- As soon as Isaac had landed with an, "OOF," into the ship, Ellie retook the controls and began to close the hatch.
- Luck was not on their side.
- "*KSSSHpeat, we have human signatures inside of the complex, requesting permission to open fire?" "Granted! Let nobody leave the Station alive, we can't afford to let this get out!" "Roger that, sir. ALL BATTLESHIPS, OPEN FIRE.*"
- Ellie was whitefaced throughout the whole transmission, growing paler and paler as it went on. Scrambling to overclock the thrusters, she never noticed the subtle cue from the side about a missile lock. Isaac's eyes grew wide as all the other alarms drowned out the desperate pinging of the lock signal, and rushed to the cockpit to warn Ellie.
- But before he could say anything, Ellie let put a gasp and darted behind the pilot's chair. "GET OUT OF THE WAY ISAAC, THERE'S A MISSILE!"
- She forced his helmet to reconfigure.
- "Ellie, what are you DOING?!"
- "Saving your ass. You have a purpose, Isaac; a much more important one than mine. Good luck."
- And with that, she threw him out of the ship to the middle of the crumbling chamber, bouncing off of the Marker on his way.Isaac activated his boots, desperately trying to get back to the ship, when an actinic flare shone from where the ship was, crashing through a part of the wall, where small pinpricks of light lanced towards the retreating vessel.
- "Goodbye, Isaac."
- The beams of light intersected the ship's.
- With an earth-shattering boom, it exploded.
- P5
- "Ellie... Damnit. Fucking hell, fuck, fuck FUCK. WHY THE FUCK DOES THIS ALWAYS HAPPEN TO ME. DAMNIT. Damnit... damnit."
- The suit started to detect the beginning of tearflow, and quickly wiped it away.
- "This is why I sent you away... I didn't want to lose your, too. I'm sorry, I'm so sorry..."
- "*Sir, we are detecting a partially nonhuman signature inside the facility. Shall we retrieve it or eliminate it?" " I SAID, Destroy any and all evidence, Colonel! Open fire!" "Wilco. ALL UNITS, FIRE."
