It wasn't that you didn't like Ponyville, you had decided. There was just... something missing, a restlessness, like you didn't really belong. As the sole human in a town full of magical talking pastel ponies, you supposed it made sense. Which was why you were at town hall, filling out a change of residence form in preparation for leaving. You figured you'd give the Griffon Empire a try next; at the very least, you'd heard it was actually possible to get a cut of steak there.
As you sat in the small lobby filling out the appropriate paperwork, you were briefly distracted by the sound of a door opening and lifted your head to see the leader of the small town, Mayor Mare, passing through on her way to her office. The name always amused you, but apparently that sort of thing was pretty common in Equestria. You eyed her appreciatively a bit longer than you strictly had to - it wasn't that you were into older women per se, but something about the Mayor's confidence and poise always appealed to you. It certainly didn't hurt that she hadn't let herself go physically, either. The Mayor wasn't about to win any marathons, but she had curves in all the right places all the same.
The Mayor does a double-take as she notices you, and you quickly return your gaze to the papers in front of you. Out of the corner of your eye, you see the distinguished mare continue to eye you for another moment before hurrying across the room and briefly conferring with the secretary on duty. The answer she gets doesn't seem to please her, and she bites her lip before whispering a hurried instruction and disappearing into her office. You shrug, disregarding the display; it's got nothing to do with you.
At least, you thought so until the secretary calls your name a moment later. "Sir? The Mayor would like to see you in her office."
Briefly wondering if you're about to get reamed out for your wandering eyes, you put down the paper and pen you were writing with and push through the heavy wooden door seperating the common area from the Mayor's office. It slowly swings shut behind you.
