  1. >It was another beautiful summer morning.
  2. >The sun shone in your room, warming the sheets covering you.
  3. >It was just about perfect, and you knew there was no way you were going to get up.
  4. >”Anon, it's almost noon! You need to get up!”
  5. >Unless, of course, your mother decided to make you on the most perfect of mornings.
  6.
  7. >You are Anonymous, and you have just gotten up from one of the best nights of sleep you have had in a while.
  8. >You felt completely revitalized, as if you could take on the world.
  9. >Getting out of bed, you slip out of your Pjs and throw on some clothing.
  10. >You head over to the bathroom, and check your hair in the mirror.
  11. >Normally you don't care about how your hair looks, but sometimes it can get really messy.
  12. >Brushing it down, you hear your mom downstairs again.
  13. >”Anon, you're going to be late! Hurry up!”
  14. “I'll be right down!”, you reply back.
  15. >Your mother was always one to uphold dates; even if you were a minute late, you were still tardy.
  16. >It annoyed you sometimes, but hey, at least you were never late.
  17. >Walking downstairs, you see she's made food for you and your older brother, who is impatiently waiting for you to sit down.
  18. >Taking a seat, you both dig in.
  19.
  20. >After a few moments of silence, your mother is the first to talk.
  21. >”Now remember Anon, you need to be at Applejacks for one o'clock to help her with the zapapple harvest.
  22. “I know.”
  23. >”And I don't want to hear you decided that hanging out with Applebloom was more important again.”
  24. “I know, you've already told me this about ten times.”
  25. >Your brother snickers.
  26. >Mother turns to him.
  27. >M: ”And what is so funny, Spike?”
  28. >S: “Wha? Nothing!”
  29. >You laugh, and finishing off your food, head out.
  30. “I'll see you this afternoon!”
  31. >Twilight waves goodbye as you close the door behind you.
  32.
  33. >On your way to Sweet Apple Acres, you passed many friends, and wished each one of them a good morning.
  34. >Passing Sugarcube Corner, you smelt what could only be Pinkie's famous chocolate chip muffins.
  35. >As much as you did just eat, there's no way you could pass this opportunity up.
  36. >Almost sprinting over, you hear the familiar bell ring as you open the door.
  37. >”Hiya Anon! How ya doing?”
  38. “I'm great, Pinkie! Say, I couldn't help but tell that you have a fresh batch of your muffins...”
  39. >Your mouth salivates just thinking about them.
  40. >”Yep, just out of the oven!”
  41. >She runs back and comes out with a tray of them, still steaming.
  42. >You reach into your pocket and grab 3 bits, and grab a muffin.
  43. >”Careful, Anon! Those are-”
  44. >Stupidly, you drop the muffin. Luckily it lands on the counter, but now your hand is quite sore.
  45. >”Those are hot, silly! Take a baggie for it!”
  46. “Right, baggie...”
  47. >She places it in a small bag, and passes it to you.
  48. “Thanks, Pinkie.”
  49. >”No problem Anon!”
  50. >Grabbing the baggie, you finally head out to the farm.
  51.
  52. >About halfway there, you figure the small dessert is cool enough to eat, so you take it out of the bag.
  53. >Man, how Pinkie manages to make these muffins so good is beyond you.
  54. >One bite, two, three, and it's gone.
  55. >You really wish you bought more than one now.
  56. >”Hey Anon, where ya heading?”
  57. “Oh, hey Applebloom. Just heading out to help your sister help with the zapapples...”
  58. >You jokingly shoot her a menacing look.
  59. “Since a certain pony wouldn't!”
  60. >”Heh, yeah...”
  61. >She looks back at you, seemingly excited.
  62. >”Ah almost forgot! Me, Sweetie Belle, and Scootaloo were going to go adventure in Everfree forest! You wanna come along?”
  63. “As much as that sounds fun, I need to help AJ. Besides, aren't you three a little old for adventures?”
  64. >She gives you a look like you're crazy.
  65. >”What're you talkin about, Anon? Yer never too old for an adventure!”
  66. >You chuckle.
  67. “You gotta grow up sometime, Applebloom.”
  68. >She stops, and gives you those sad eyes she gives whenever she doesn't get her way.
  69. >”So...yer not coming?”
  70. “Afraid not. Last time I skipped out on helping your sister to tag along with you three I was stuck doing Spikes chores for a week.”
  71. >”Alright...”
  72. “Tell the others I said hi though, alright?”
  73. >”Yea, yea...”
  74. >She slowly trots off.
  75. >Man, she sure knows how to make someone feel guilty.
  76.
  77. >Finally, you've made it to the orchard.
  78. >And there's AJ, looking stern as ever.
  79. “There's no way I'm late. I left an hour early!”
  80. >”Yer not.”
  81. >You let out a sigh of relief.
  82. “Then what's the look for?”
  83. >”Ah can't believe you turned down Applebloom like that, Anon.”
  84. >You stop in your tracks, and do a double take.
  85. “But, Twi said that last time I went off with Applebloom you got pissed off at me...”
  86. >”Ah never said such a thing. Anon, friends are more important than work sometimes.”
  87. >You drop your head. Man, you really could be an idiot sometimes.
  88. “You're right...sorry, AJ.”
  89. >”Ah don't think you should be saying sorry to me.”
  90. >She takes a look down the path behind you.
  91. >”Looks like you'll have to apologize after you help me with the harvest. She's long gone now.”
  92. >You sigh, and follow her over to the now-ripe zapapple trees.
  93. >These apples always intrigued you.
  94. >They were nothing like the others in the orchard; they had a rainbow colour, and had to be grown and harvested the right way, or you wouldn't get any at all.
  95. >They also happened to be your favourite, and you knew helping AJ harvest them meant a small bushel of your own.
  96. >You get to work, knowing this would take almost all day.
  97.
  98. >After a long afternoon of harvesting zapapples, you and AJ finally finish, and take a rest.
  99. >You both are exhausted, but it was worth it.
  100. >You got your bushel, and you two didn't lose a single zapapple.
  101. >Enjoying a nice cold drink, that thought begins to nag at the back of your mind again.
  102. >You've been here for quite a while, and it wasn't hard to miss that you were different from everyone else.
  103. >Why was that? Were you some kind of different race? Were you from another planet?
  104. >Maybe it's finally time to ask about it...
  105. >You turn to AJ, who is enjoying her drink.
  106. “Hey AJ? I've been wondering for a while...”
  107. >She looks over at you.
  108. >”What's up, sugarcube?”
  109. “Why am I so different from you and everyone else?”
  110. >Startled by the question, she almost drops her drink.
  111. >”Wh-what do ya mean, Anon?”
  112. “Well, for starters, I'm the only one who walks on two legs. And I have hands, and...”
  113. >”Ah get it, ah get it.”
  114. >She sighs, and sits up straight.
  115. >”This is something that you'd best ask Twi about. She knows more about you than any of us...”
  116. >You laugh lightly.
  117. “Well duh, she's my mom!”
  118. >AJ stays silent.
  119. >Silence is never good.
  120. “AJ, is there something you're not telling me?”
  121. >She darts up again, now avoiding eye contact with you.
  122. >”What? No! Why wouldn't I tell you something, Anon?”
  123. >Now you're really starting to suspect something's up.
  124. “...She is, isn't she?”
  125. >”O-of course she is! Why wouldn't she be?”
  126. “Well, let's see. First off, she's a pony, and I'm not. If she's really my mom, how does that make sense?”
  127. >”I, uh, well...”
  128. >AJ sighs again and slumps down, seemingly admitting defeat.
  129. >”Ah can't answer that, Anon. If you really want to know, then you'll have to talk to Twi about it.”
  130. >You're taken back by her response.
  131. >You didn't expect to be right; hell, you didn't want to be.
  132. “...But she is my mom, isn't she?”
  133. >AJ sits in silence once again.
  134. “There's no way she can't be! I've known her ever since I could remember!”
  135. >AJ cringes with your outburst.
  136. >”Ahm sorry, Anon. There are some things we all have to learn at some point...”
  137. >Unsure of what to do at this point, you sprint back towards town.
  138. >There's no way...
  139. >She has to be...
  140. >Why else would she have taken care of you since birth?
  141. >Who else would've?
  142. >If she wasn't your mother, who was?
  143. >You never slow your pace, all of these thoughts racing through your head.
