- >It was another beautiful summer morning.
- >The sun shone in your room, warming the sheets covering you.
- >It was just about perfect, and you knew there was no way you were going to get up.
- >”Anon, it's almost noon! You need to get up!”
- >Unless, of course, your mother decided to make you on the most perfect of mornings.
- >You are Anonymous, and you have just gotten up from one of the best nights of sleep you have had in a while.
- >You felt completely revitalized, as if you could take on the world.
- >Getting out of bed, you slip out of your Pjs and throw on some clothing.
- >You head over to the bathroom, and check your hair in the mirror.
- >Normally you don't care about how your hair looks, but sometimes it can get really messy.
- >Brushing it down, you hear your mom downstairs again.
- >”Anon, you're going to be late! Hurry up!”
- “I'll be right down!”, you reply back.
- >Your mother was always one to uphold dates; even if you were a minute late, you were still tardy.
- >It annoyed you sometimes, but hey, at least you were never late.
- >Walking downstairs, you see she's made food for you and your older brother, who is impatiently waiting for you to sit down.
- >Taking a seat, you both dig in.
- >After a few moments of silence, your mother is the first to talk.
- >”Now remember Anon, you need to be at Applejacks for one o'clock to help her with the zapapple harvest.
- “I know.”
- >”And I don't want to hear you decided that hanging out with Applebloom was more important again.”
- “I know, you've already told me this about ten times.”
- >Your brother snickers.
- >Mother turns to him.
- >M: ”And what is so funny, Spike?”
- >S: “Wha? Nothing!”
- >You laugh, and finishing off your food, head out.
- “I'll see you this afternoon!”
- >Twilight waves goodbye as you close the door behind you.
- >On your way to Sweet Apple Acres, you passed many friends, and wished each one of them a good morning.
- >Passing Sugarcube Corner, you smelt what could only be Pinkie's famous chocolate chip muffins.
- >As much as you did just eat, there's no way you could pass this opportunity up.
- >Almost sprinting over, you hear the familiar bell ring as you open the door.
- >”Hiya Anon! How ya doing?”
- “I'm great, Pinkie! Say, I couldn't help but tell that you have a fresh batch of your muffins...”
- >Your mouth salivates just thinking about them.
- >”Yep, just out of the oven!”
- >She runs back and comes out with a tray of them, still steaming.
- >You reach into your pocket and grab 3 bits, and grab a muffin.
- >”Careful, Anon! Those are-”
- >Stupidly, you drop the muffin. Luckily it lands on the counter, but now your hand is quite sore.
- >”Those are hot, silly! Take a baggie for it!”
- “Right, baggie...”
- >She places it in a small bag, and passes it to you.
- “Thanks, Pinkie.”
- >”No problem Anon!”
- >Grabbing the baggie, you finally head out to the farm.
- >About halfway there, you figure the small dessert is cool enough to eat, so you take it out of the bag.
- >Man, how Pinkie manages to make these muffins so good is beyond you.
- >One bite, two, three, and it's gone.
- >You really wish you bought more than one now.
- >”Hey Anon, where ya heading?”
- “Oh, hey Applebloom. Just heading out to help your sister help with the zapapples...”
- >You jokingly shoot her a menacing look.
- “Since a certain pony wouldn't!”
- >”Heh, yeah...”
- >She looks back at you, seemingly excited.
- >”Ah almost forgot! Me, Sweetie Belle, and Scootaloo were going to go adventure in Everfree forest! You wanna come along?”
- “As much as that sounds fun, I need to help AJ. Besides, aren't you three a little old for adventures?”
- >She gives you a look like you're crazy.
- >”What're you talkin about, Anon? Yer never too old for an adventure!”
- >You chuckle.
- “You gotta grow up sometime, Applebloom.”
- >She stops, and gives you those sad eyes she gives whenever she doesn't get her way.
- >”So...yer not coming?”
- “Afraid not. Last time I skipped out on helping your sister to tag along with you three I was stuck doing Spikes chores for a week.”
- >”Alright...”
- “Tell the others I said hi though, alright?”
- >”Yea, yea...”
- >She slowly trots off.
- >Man, she sure knows how to make someone feel guilty.
- >Finally, you've made it to the orchard.
- >And there's AJ, looking stern as ever.
- “There's no way I'm late. I left an hour early!”
- >”Yer not.”
- >You let out a sigh of relief.
- “Then what's the look for?”
- >”Ah can't believe you turned down Applebloom like that, Anon.”
- >You stop in your tracks, and do a double take.
- “But, Twi said that last time I went off with Applebloom you got pissed off at me...”
- >”Ah never said such a thing. Anon, friends are more important than work sometimes.”
- >You drop your head. Man, you really could be an idiot sometimes.
- “You're right...sorry, AJ.”
- >”Ah don't think you should be saying sorry to me.”
- >She takes a look down the path behind you.
- >”Looks like you'll have to apologize after you help me with the harvest. She's long gone now.”
- >You sigh, and follow her over to the now-ripe zapapple trees.
- >These apples always intrigued you.
- >They were nothing like the others in the orchard; they had a rainbow colour, and had to be grown and harvested the right way, or you wouldn't get any at all.
- >They also happened to be your favourite, and you knew helping AJ harvest them meant a small bushel of your own.
- >You get to work, knowing this would take almost all day.
- >After a long afternoon of harvesting zapapples, you and AJ finally finish, and take a rest.
- >You both are exhausted, but it was worth it.
- >You got your bushel, and you two didn't lose a single zapapple.
- >Enjoying a nice cold drink, that thought begins to nag at the back of your mind again.
- >You've been here for quite a while, and it wasn't hard to miss that you were different from everyone else.
- >Why was that? Were you some kind of different race? Were you from another planet?
- >Maybe it's finally time to ask about it...
- >You turn to AJ, who is enjoying her drink.
- “Hey AJ? I've been wondering for a while...”
- >She looks over at you.
- >”What's up, sugarcube?”
- “Why am I so different from you and everyone else?”
- >Startled by the question, she almost drops her drink.
- >”Wh-what do ya mean, Anon?”
- “Well, for starters, I'm the only one who walks on two legs. And I have hands, and...”
- >”Ah get it, ah get it.”
- >She sighs, and sits up straight.
- >”This is something that you'd best ask Twi about. She knows more about you than any of us...”
- >You laugh lightly.
- “Well duh, she's my mom!”
- >AJ stays silent.
- >Silence is never good.
- “AJ, is there something you're not telling me?”
- >She darts up again, now avoiding eye contact with you.
- >”What? No! Why wouldn't I tell you something, Anon?”
- >Now you're really starting to suspect something's up.
- “...She is, isn't she?”
- >”O-of course she is! Why wouldn't she be?”
- “Well, let's see. First off, she's a pony, and I'm not. If she's really my mom, how does that make sense?”
- >”I, uh, well...”
- >AJ sighs again and slumps down, seemingly admitting defeat.
- >”Ah can't answer that, Anon. If you really want to know, then you'll have to talk to Twi about it.”
- >You're taken back by her response.
- >You didn't expect to be right; hell, you didn't want to be.
- “...But she is my mom, isn't she?”
- >AJ sits in silence once again.
- “There's no way she can't be! I've known her ever since I could remember!”
- >AJ cringes with your outburst.
- >”Ahm sorry, Anon. There are some things we all have to learn at some point...”
- >Unsure of what to do at this point, you sprint back towards town.
- >There's no way...
- >She has to be...
- >Why else would she have taken care of you since birth?
- >Who else would've?
- >If she wasn't your mother, who was?
- >You never slow your pace, all of these thoughts racing through your head.
