- >After I say goodnight to her and close my eyes, I find myself unable to fall asleep
- >Fucking insomnia.
- >Seconds turn to minutes, and minutes into hours. I still can’t fall asleep
- >I begin to grow angry
- >However, Fluttershy’s presence keeps me from going nuts
- >At least I have her to snuggle with in the dead of night
- >I put my hand on her head and gently pet her
- >I don’t want to interrupt her slumber
- >I continue petting her until the first rays of sunshine start coming through my window
- >I stop petting her and give her a kiss on the snout
- >This causes her to wake up
- >She opens her eyes and looks directly at me
- >”Good morning, Anon.” She says
- “Morning, Fluttershy.” I reply
- >She nuzzles her nose against mine
- >Even though this has happened a lot in the last day, I still smile and blush
- >I begin petting her again, and she smiles
- >”Anon? What are we going to do today?”
- “I don’t know Flutters, what should we…”
- >I stop, remembering something
- >I have to work today
- >That’s when a thought hits me
- >I could call in sick, that way I’d be able to spend another day with Fluttershy
- >Yeah, I think I’ll do that
- “I don’t know what we’re going to do today, Flutters, but before we do anything, I have to make a phone call.”
- >I run my hand through Fluttershy’s mane before hopping out of bed
- >Before exiting my room, I bend down and plug in my alarm clock that I had forcefully unplugged the day before
- >I look at the clock. It reads 5:58
- >My boss should be at work by now
- >I exit my room, enter the kitchen and pick up the phone
- >Thankfully, I have my boss’s cell-phone number saved to the phone
- >I call him up
- >After a few minutes, he picks up
- >”Hello?”
- “Hey there, James, it’s Anonymous.”
- >”Oh, good morning, Anon! How are you?”
- “I’m good. Yourself?”
- >”I’m good. So what’s up? You never call me this early.”
- “Sorry, James, I can’t make it to work today.”
- >”Why not?”
- >I have to think of a lie
- “A… family emergency. Dad’s been hospitalized, so I need to go see him.”
- >”Alright, Anon, I understand. Just be sure to show up early tomorrow!”
- “Will do, James!”
- >”Alright, kid, see ya!”
- “Bye!”
- >I hang up the phone, put it back on the receiver and go back to my room
- >I look at Fluttershy, and she looks back at me
- “So, what do you want to do today?”
- >She looks away and puts her hoof under her chin
- >Her facial expression says it all; she’s thinking about what she wants to do
- >Her face lights up and she turns back to me
- >”Well, I know that you said other people may not accept me, so perhaps we could go someplace private?”
- >I ponder her response, thinking about private places we could go
- >The most private place I know of is my apartment
- >That’s when I remember my cousin owns a small library in Andover
- >It’s closed to the public on Mondays, so perhaps she could let us in
- “Maybe we could go the library?”
- >Her eyes go big and she smiles
- >”The library? She says
- “Yeah! My cousin owns one a few miles away. It’s closed to the public today, so he may let us in. We’d have the whole place to ourselves!”
- >”That’s sounds wonderful!”
- “Now, I can’t make any promises, Fluttershy, but I’ll see what I can do.”
- >She smiles
- >I smile back, and my stomach rumbles. I’m hungry
- “Are you hungry for breakfast, Fluttershy?”
- >”Do you have any more apples?” She says
- >If I remember correctly, I still have a few left over from yesterday
- >I walk over to the fridge and open it. Sure enough, there are still six apples left
- >I take out two. One for Fluttershy and one for myself
- >I shut the fridge and walk to the living room, placing one apple down onto the coffee table
- “Bon appetit!” I say. I then take a bite of my apple
- >Fluttershy does the same with hers
- >We both finish our apples at the same time
- >I take both apples and walk to the kitchen
- >I throw them into the trashcan
- >Walking back to the living room, I see Fluttershy spread her wings and begin flying
- >I stare in awe at her beauty
- >She turns around and looks me right in the eye
- >”Sorry, Anon, I’m just stretching.”
- >Should I tell her how beautiful she looked just then?
- >whythefucknot.avi
- “Fluttershy… you look gorgeous!”
- >She blushes
- >“Why, thank you, Anon!” she exclaims
- >She flies above the couch and begins to lower herself
- >She sits down on the cushion and folds back her wings
- >”Well, are you going to come sit down?”
- “I will in a second, Fluttershy. I’ve just gotta make another call.”
- >I walk back to the kitchen, pick up the phone and press three
- >I’ve got my cousin on speed-dial
- >After a few minutes of no response, I get the answering machine
- >Her voice message starts playing
- >”Hi there! You’ve reached Janet! Sorry I can’t get to the phone right now, but leave your name and number and I’ll get back to you as soon as possible. Thanks for calling!”
- >I hang up and put the phone back on the receiver
- >I’ll call back in a bit.
- >I begin walking back to the living room, when I suddenly get a headrush. A bad one
- >I fall forward and hit my head on the coffee table, knocking myself out
- >I see nothing but black
- >Yup, I’m out cold, but I seem to be having some sort of dream
- >I look down and see my legs
- >Good, at least I’m in one piece in this dream
- >I rub my eyes for a moment, and when I pull my hands away, I’m surrounded by six mirrors
- >Six mirrors in a black room. Is this an epiphany or something?
- >I turn and look in each one, only to see myself
- >Then, when I get back to the first mirror, I no longer see my own reflection
- >Instead, I see Fluttershy
- >She’s looking at me with a smile
- >I begin banging on the glass, trying to get to her
- >”Don’t worry. I’m fine!” she says
- >I’m not entirely reassured, but her voice calms me down
- >Suddenly, the sound of shattering pierces my eardrums
- >I turn around to see that four of the mirrors have broken
- >I turn back around, and only one remains. It’s the one on the right of Fluttershy’s mirror
- >I see nothing in the mirror, not even my reflection. I see only glass
- >Out of nowhere, a fierce shining light appears from above me
- >I’m blinded and stunned
- >Then, out of nowhere, a voice booms out across the black landscape
- >It’s angelic and soothing, more so than Fluttershy’s. It sounds almost royal
- >”You’ve accepted Fluttershy. It’s her you adore.” The voice says
- >”But now, it’s time to add one more…”
- >The blinding light fades, and I turn back to the mirrors. Fluttershy is still in hers, but my reflection in the other is gone
- >Instead, Twilight Sparkle occupies where my reflection should be
- >I look directly at Twilight, and she looks back at me
- >Just like Fluttershy, she looks the same as she does in the show
- >At least, how she looks post Season 3
- >Her beautiful purple fur is the same, as is her pretty indigo hair, complete with the pink stripe
- >Her tail matches her hair
- >Her cutie mark is just out of view due to her wings, but it also seems to be the same
- >That reminds me. I haven’t checked to see if Fluttershy has her cutie mark
- >Twilight and I make eye contact
- >She smiles
- >”I’ll be with you two soon.” She says
- >Wait, what?!
- >Twilight spreads her wings and flies upwards out of view
- “Wait! WAIT! Come back!”
- >The dream begins to fade away
- >SHITSHITSHITSHITSHIT
- “TWILIGHT!!”
- >The black room begins to fade to white
- “TWILIGHT!!”
- >The mirrors are consumed by the fading dream
- >I begin to grow exhausted. Very weird considering I’m dreaming
- “TWI… Twi… twilight…”
- >The dream fades completely, and I know I’m awake again
- >I suddenly feel a cold temperature pressed against my forehead
- >I open my eyes to find Fluttershy holding her hoof down on my forehead. She’s obviously holding an icepack
- >I groan, and close my eyes
- >I wake up a few minutes later to Fluttershy still holding the ice pack on my forehead
- >I’m quite literally beat, so I only manage to get out a few words
- “Did… did you… shut the freezer door?”
- >She nods and puts a hoof over my mouth, obviously as a way of keeping me quiet
- >A headache begins to take shape, and I pass out again
- >I wake up later on with a pillow underneath my head and a blanket covering me
- >I look to my right and find Fluttershy napping next to me on the floor
- >Her heads on the pillow and she’s under the covers with me
- >I roll over to face her, and I put my left hand on her head
- >I lightly shake her
- >This wakes her up
- “Thanks for taking care of me.”
- >”Don’t thank me. I was just helping out a friend.”
- >I smile
- “But I want to thank you, Nurse Fluttershy.”
- >She giggles
- >”Well, how do you want to repay me, Anon?” She asks
- >I know just the way to repay her
- >”I mean, we could do so much, and all we’ve done is sit here in your-“
- >I stop her by putting a finger up to her mouth
- >I take one hand and wrap it around her body
- >I take my other hand and put it under her head
- >I move in closer to her
- >”Anon?”
- >Without another word, I put my lips onto hers
- >She immediately pushes me away
- >”Anon!” she screams
- >shitwhatthefuckdidijustdo.mov
- “OH, MY GOD! I’m so sorry, Fluttershy! I don’t know what came over me!”
- >Fluttershy looks stunned
- >Fuck. I just ruined our relationship
- >Her stunned expression slowly fades and turns into a blank expression
- >I can’t tell if she’s mad or happy
- “Fluttershy?”
- >She gets up from under the covers and walks into the kitchen
- >I roll on my back and put my head up
- “I’m… I’m sorry, Fluttershy.”
- >She turns back to me and looks me dead in the eye
- “Fluttershy?”
- >She begins running at full speed
- >I’m screwed
- >She leaps into the air, spreads her wings, and flies over me
- >Goodbye, life. I hardly knew you
- >She stops flying and falls to the ground, landing right on top of me
- >So, this is how I die. I get killed by a yellow and pink pony with wings
- “Fluttershy, wai-“
- >My sentence is cut off by her lips meeting mine
- >She removes her lips ten seconds later
- >I look at her in disbelief, and she looks back at me
- >”Now we’re even.” She says with a smile
- >She gets off of me, allowing me to get up
- >I grab the coffee table for support and lift myself up to a standing position
- >The headache returns, but I manage to suppress it
- >I go to my room and check the time. The clock reads 8:27
- >That entire ordeal took two hours?
- >I exit my room and see Fluttershy waiting for me
- >I’m still in shock by what just happened, so I go into the kitchen and pick up the phone
- >With a nervous but happy tone to my voice, I speak to Fluttershy
- “Listen, Fluttershy, why don’t I call up my cousin and see if we can go to her library?”
- >”Sounds great, Anon!”
- >She seems to have quickly gotten over our recent interaction
- >I press three and hold the phone up to my ear
- >After a few seconds, Janet picks up
- >”Hello?” she says.
- “Hey, Janet! It’s me, Anonymous!”
- >“Hi, Anon! How are you?”
- “I’m doing just fine! Listen, can I ask you a question?”
- >”Anything for you, Anon!”
- “Look, I have a friend over right now, and I told her you own a library. I know it’s closed to the public on Mondays, but I was wondering if…”
- >”Let me guess. You want me to let you two in on an off day?”
- “If that’s alright…”
- >”I actually had to go to the library today to check and see how many books have been returned since last week. You two can come for a visit. I’ll let you in.”
- “Really? Thank you Janet!”
- >“You’re welcome Anon! See you soon!” With that, she hung up the phone
- >I turn to Fluttershy
- “Well, looks like we’re going to the library today!”
- >She jumps for joy
- >”Yay! Oh, thank you, thank you, thank you, Anon!”
- “You’re welcome, Flutters!”
- >She hops into the air and flies over to me
- >She then wraps her arms around me and hugs me tight
- “Alright Fluttershy, let’s go to the library.”
- >She releases her grip and lowers herself to the ground
- >”You said it was a few miles away, right?”
- “Yes.”
- >“How are we going to get there, Anon?”
- “Don’t worry. I have a way.”
- >I walk to the refrigerator and look on the side
- >A small key rack with three hooks hangs on the fridge
- >Each hook is occupied
- >I take the keys on the middle hook
- >I turn around and dangle them in the air
- “See these? These’ll get us where we need to go!”
- >”Keys?” she asks
- “Trust me.”
- >She nods, but she has a concerned look on her face
- “Just give me a few minutes, Fluttershy. I need to go get dressed.”
- >”Okay, Anon, just be quick! I can’t wait to go!”
- “Don’t worry, Flutters. We’ll be there soon.”
- >After throwing on a new pair on underwear, a nice dark red polo shirt, jeans, a pair of socks and my shoes, I was ready to go
- >Then a thought hits me
- >How will I get Fluttershy to the library unnoticed?
- >Think, Anonymous, think!
- >idea.jpg
- >I open my closet, and to my delight, a large messenger bag is laying on top of a pile of boxes
- >It’s a nice brown leather on the outside and black fleece on the inside
- >This should be comfy for her
- >I bring it out of my room and show it to Fluttershy
- >She looks at it with a puzzled look on her face
- >”What is this?” Fluttershy asks
- “It’s a messenger bag! It’s used to carry around big items, or in this case, an adorable pony.”
- >She giggles
- >I open up the bag for her, and she hesitantly climbs inside
- >Thankfully, it’s a perfect fit for her
- >She climbs out, closes the bag and allows me to put the strap over my shoulder
- >I stand up, reopen the bag, and Fluttershy flies into it
- “Alright, Flutters, in order for you to be hidden, I have to close the bag.”
- >She nods in understanding
- >I walk to the key rack and grab the keys to my apartment
- >I pick up my car keys from the countertop and walk to the front door
- “You ready, Fluttershy?”
- >She nods and takes a deep breath
- >I close the bag and open the front door
- >It’s time to bring Fluttershy out into the real world
- >I exit my apartment and shut the door behind me
- >The air feels nice against my skin, and it tastes sweet
- >I can tell by the hairs standing up on my arm that it’s a nice fifty degrees Fahrenheit today, surprisingly warm for January
- >I walk to the stairs and quickly run down them
- >I put my apartment keys in my pocket and pull out my car keys
- >I press the unlock button, and I hear a beep come from across the parking lot
- >My shitty 2002 Nissan Altima is ready to go
- >Thanks for the hand-me-down car, dad
- >I walk over to the car and open the left side back door
- >Gently, I put the messenger bag inside and open it
- >I look Fluttershy directly in the eye
- “Are you ready for your first car ride?”
- >”What’s a car?” Fluttershy asks
- >Oh, the wonders I’m about to show her
- “It’s what you’re in right now, besides a messenger bag. Want me to show you what it does?”
- >She nods
- >It’s showtime
- “First, I need to put on your seatbelt. Can you sit in the middle for me, please?”
- >She moves to the center, and I put on her seatbelt
- >She’s a bit confused as to why I put it on her, but she seems to like it
- >I exit the back, shut the door, open the driver-side door and hop in.
- >I shut my door, put on my seatbelt, and put the keys into the ignition
- “Are you ready, Fluttershy?”
- >”Yes, Anon!”
- “Then let’s go!”
- >I turned the ignition, and the engine starts up
- >Fluttershy squeaks with fear
- >I found it adorable, but I needed to comfort her
- “Don’t worry. It’s just the car starting up.”
- >She’s still worried, but she manages to get a response out
- >”Okay. I trust you.”
- >I put the car in reverse and step on the gas
- >The car begins to move backwards
- >”Oh, my!” Fluttershy says in awe
- “You haven’t seen anything yet.”
- >After backing out fully, I check to make sure I’m in the clear to drive
- >There are no other cars in the parking lot, so this should be easy
- >I put the car in drive, turn the steering wheel left, and step on the gas again
- >Fluttershy gasps in amazement
- >[d’awwing intensifies]
- >I take my foot off the gas and turn around to look at Fluttershy
- “You ready to go?”
- >”Yes! Absolutely!” she exclaims
- “Alright! Let’s go!”
- >I turn back around and step on the gas again
- >I drive out of the parking lot and turn onto the main road
- >Our journey to the library has begun
- >Fluttershy gasps again
- >It’s about to get even better for her
- >She has no idea what the open road has in store for her
- “How are you enjoying your first true look at the outside world?”
- >”It’s… beautiful!” Fluttershy says
- “How do the buildings look?”
- >”They’re…”
- “Yes?”
- >”They’re simply stunning!”
- >This is her first look at Boston from outside my apartment
- >It must mean a lot to her
- >I continue to drive up Memorial Drive, onto Commercial Ave
- “See that big brick building on the right with the white spire and two white domes?”
- >”Yes.” She says
- “That’s the Museum of Science. Maybe I could take you there one day.”
- >”What’s in it?” She asks curiously
- “A lot of things related to science, like plants, space, physics, that kind of stuff.”
- >”And we could go there?”
- “Sure! I mean… after I get used to the idea of taking you out in public.”
- >”That would be nice… I mean… if you would take me…”
- “I promise, Fluttershy. One day, we’ll go there.”
- >I turn on the radio, and turn the channel to Sirius XM
- >Thank God I bought the subscription when it was on sale
- >I switch the station to Ozzy’s Boneyard
- >Led Zeppelin starts playing. It’s “The Immigrant Song”
- >ohfuckyeah.jpg
- >The music escapes the speakers, and I begin to sing along
- “We come from the land of the ice and snow, from the midnight sun where the hot springs flow!”
- >The song ends before we make it to the intersection of Commercial Ave and Route 28
- >When the car comes to a halt at the intersection, I turn back and look at Fluttershy
- >She’s stunned by what she’s just heard
- “Did you enjoy that?”
- >The look on her face says it all. She’s absolutely petrified
- “Well?”
- >Her facial expression changes from petrified to extremely happy
- >”I loved it!!” she states
- >I smile back at her
- “You wanna hear some more awesome music?”
- >She nods in approval
- >I turn around and hit the CD button above the radio
- >The first CD begins to play
- >It’s one I made myself that contained all my favorite songs
- >First up on the disc was The Dropkick Murphys
- >”I’m Shipping Up To Boston” starts playing
- “Pay attention, Fluttershy. This song’s about the city we’re in now!”
- >The first notes of the banjo start blaring through the speakers
- >The guitar kicks in momentarily afterwards
- >Then the real music starts
- >The instruments come together beautifully
- >Fuck yeah, here we go
- >The light turns green, and I turn right onto Route 22
- >The vocals begin, and I sing along
- “I’m a sailor peg! And I’ve lost my leg! Climbin’ up the top sails, I lost my leg!”
- >The instrumentals continue as I drive past the Museum of Science
- >Fluttershy seems to be enjoying the music, as I hear her humming the instrumentals
- >The chorus starts
- “I’m shippin’ up to Boston! WHOOOAAAAHHHOOOO!”
- “I’m shippin’ up to Boston! WHOOOAAAAAHHHH!”
- >Fluttershy catches on, and she takes over the singing
- >”I’m shipping up to Boston! Yay!”
- >Her angelic voice doesn’t quite match up with the Murphys
- >It sounds beautiful, though
- >Her saying “Yay” instead of “Whoa” put a smile on my face
- >We continued driving up Route 22, past the Science Park T-Station and up the highway on-ramp
- >”Anon? What’s that building on the right?” Fluttershy asks curiously
- “That’s the TD Garden, Flutters.”
- >”Garden?!”
- >I know how much she loves nature, but I have to break this to her
- “Not that kind of garden, Fluttershy.”
- >”Oh…”
- “The TD Garden is where sports are played and concerts are held. It’s a popular tourist attraction here.”
- >”Could we go there someday?” she asks
- >First it was the Museum of Science, and now it’s the TD Garden?
- >She must really be interested in Boston now, and it’s only been two days since she arrived
- “Sure!”
- >”Thank you, Anon!”
- “You’re welcome, Fluttershy.”
- >I continue driving away from the city
- >I drive up I-93 for a solid 45 minutes
- >The entire time, Fluttershy is quiet
- >She’s obviously taking in her surroundings
- >I get off at Exit 43 in Andover
- >Janet’s library should be nearby
- >If I remember correctly, it’s near a golf course
- >After ten more minutes of driving, I find the library
- >It’s just down the street from the Andover Country Club
- >It looks just like a regular house in semi-woodland Massachusetts
- >The plot of land is surrounded by the woods
- >Only one thing stops me from mistaking this building for a regular house; it has a sign for the library out front
- >The sign lists the library’s hours, with Monday being the only closed day
- >Janet lives just down the street, so she can walk to her work, but instead, I find her car in the parking lot
- >It’s a 2003 Ford Taurus, but it’s in good shape considering it’s 11 years old
- >I pull into the parking lot, and I see Janet exiting her car
- >I grow worried. She’s going to see Fluttershy if I’m not careful
- “Flutters, it’s time to get into the messenger bag again.”
- >”But I can’t get to it with this belt on me!”
- >Shit, hadn’t thought of that
- “Hang on, I’ll think of something…”
- >Then, I get an idea
- >I turn around and exit the parking lot before Janet notices my car
- >I go further down the street, closer to the country club
- >I remember that there’s an abandoned house with an empty driveway. I could park there and put Fluttershy in the messenger bag
- >I find the abandoned house without a problem
- >It’s overgrown, but still visible
- >I pull into the driveway. It too is overgrown
- >I put the car in park, unlock it and exit the vehicle
- >Through the windows, I can see Fluttershy’s confusion
- >I open the back passenger door
- >She looks at me with concern
- >”Why did we stop here? We could’ve just stopped at the library.”
- “I don’t want Janet to see you…”
- >Wait, I’ve brought Fluttershy with me. That means I have to show her to Janet
- “…yet. I don’t want her to see you yet.”
- >I unbuckle Fluttershy’s seatbelt and grab the messenger bag
- >Fluttershy assists me in opening the bag, and she hops in
- >I exit the back, shut the door, and get back in the driver’s seat
- >I shut the door, put on my seatbelt and put the car in reverse
- >I back out of the abandoned driveway and turn back onto the main road
- >Putting the car in drive, I go back down the road towards the library
- >I drive into the parking lot and see Janet getting out of her car
- >I honk my horn, and she turns to me
- >She waves at me and walks to the back door of her car.
- >I park on the other side of the lot, that way Janet won’t immediately see me
- >I shut the car off, take the keys out of the ignition, unlock the car and open the door
- >After unbuckling my seatbelt, I hop out of the car, shut my door and open the back door once again
- >Fluttershy looks at me from within the messenger bag
- >The time has come for the confrontation I’d been dreading
- >Fluttershy nods at me, signaling she’s ready to be hidden
- “I need you to stay still for me, okay?”
- >”Okay, Anon!”
- >I close the messenger bag, put the strap over my shoulder and exit the back seat
- >I shut the door and lock the car
- >I turn around and see Janet waving to me, so I wave back and begin to walk over
- >When I get to her, she gives me a hug
- >”It’s great to see you again, Anon!”
- “Great to see you too, Janet. How have things been?”
- >”Things have been good. Oh, I hope you don’t mind, but I brought someone along with me.”
- >She brought someone?
- >Janet opens the back door of her car, and sitting in a small booster seat is a little girl
- >It’s her daughter, Emily.
- >Emily’s asleep in her booster seat, and she’s still wearing her pajamas
- >Janet reaches into the car and shakes her daughter lightly
- >”Emily! Look who’s here!”
- >Emily opens her eyes and turns to me
- >”It’s your cousin, Anonymous!”
- >Emily yawns and waves hello, obviously still too tired to talk
- >”You wouldn’t mind watching her while I check the returned books, would you?”
- >That wasn’t brought up in our phone conversation, but what the hell, I’ll do it
- “Sure!” I’d be happy to!”
- >Janet smiles and enters the back of her car to unbuckle Emily from her booster seat
- >Emily gets up and exits the car, and that’s when I notice something.
- >Cradled under her right arm is a Build-a-Bear Twilight Sparkle plushie
- >I remember what the voice said to me in my dream
- >”Now, it’s time to add one more.”
- >Oh, fuck, it's happening
- >This is not good
- >I back up and allow Janet to get Emily out of the car
- >”So, where’s your friend?”
- >Fuck, I told her that I’d be bringing someone with me
- “Oh…”
- >SHIT WHAT DO I SAY TO HER
- >”Anon? Is something the matter?”
- >GOTTALIEFAST.gif
- “No, nothing’s wrong! My friend is just taking her own car. I think she may have gotten lost.”
- >I hope that lie works
- >”Oh, okay. Is she gonna be here soon?”
- “She should be, yes.”
- >”Alright.”
- >Yes! The lie worked
- >”In the meantime, I’ll let you two inside.” Janet says
- >She grabs a blanket from a bag on the floor of the car and hands it to Emily
- >The blanket is the same color pink as Fluttershy’s mane
- >Emily takes the blanket and wraps it around the Twilight plushie as Janet unbuckles Emily from her booster seat
- >Janet backs up and allows Emily to exit the car
- >Emily hops onto the ground, still holding the Twilight plushie
- >Janet turns to me
- >”Well, let’s get you two inside.”
- >Janet shuts the back door of her car and locks it
- >She puts her car keys into her purse and pulls out another set of keys
- >These must be to the library
- >She takes Emily’s left hand and begins walking up the pathway to the front door of the building
- >I begin walking up the pathway shortly after they arrive at the door
- >Janet puts the keys into the keyhole and unlocks the door
- >They enter, and I follow them
- >Janet brings Emily to the kid’s section
- >It’s nice and colorful
- >It contains a few beanbag chairs, two computers and three couches, as well as three bookshelves overflowing with books
- >Emily sits down in a beanbag chair
- >Janet unwraps the blanket from around the Twilight plushie
- >She places the plushie next to Emily, who immediately hugs it
- >Janet puts the blanket on top of her daughter and Twilight
- >Within seconds, there’s snoring
- >Emily’s out cold
- >Janet turns to me and points to a phone on the wall on the other side of the kid’s section
- >”You can use that phone to call your friend if you wish.”
- “Thank you for allowing me to do this.”
- >”It’s no trouble, Anon!”
- >I give her another hug
- >Alright, Anon. I’m gonna go check and see how many books have been returned.”
- “Okay, Janet.”
- >She walks away, and as soon as she’s out of sight, I open the messenger bag
- >Fluttershy’s head pops out of the bag, and I nod to her
- >Fluttershy flies out of the messenger bag and lands on the ground
- >She lays eyes on Emily, although Flutters doesn’t know exactly who she is
- “Shh… she’s asleep.”
- >”Is this Emily?”
- >She must’ve heard Janet and I talking
- “Yes, that’s Emily.”
- >”She’s so cute!”
- >Emily really is cute. Not as cute as Fluttershy, but still cute
- >I motion for Fluttershy to follow me, and she does so
- >I look through the books on the first bookshelves
- >A copy of “The Hunger Games” is mixed in among the books labeled under ‘C’
- >The ‘C’ obviously standing for Collins in this case
- >I wonder why that’s there…
- >Ignoring the obvious misplacement, I look down and see a book lying on the floor
- >It’s a copy of “Where the Wild Things Are”
- >Perfect. Fluttershy will love this
- >Just as I reach down to grab the book, I hear a small sound
- >It’s not very loud, but it’s definitely there
- >I look around, trying to find the source of the noise
- >Fluttershy’s looking too
- >We’re both looking around, finding nothing
- >I turn to Emily, and I find the source of the sound
- >The horn of her Twilight plushie has begun to glow
- >I repeat what the voice said to me in the dream
- “Now, it’s time to add one more…”
- >The horn on the Twilight plushie continues to glow
- >Fluttershy looks at it in wide-eyed disbelief
- “Fluttershy, stand back…”
- >”Why?” she asks
- “Just stand back!”
- >She begins to move backwards, but she doesn’t take her eyes off Emily and Twilight
- >Suddenly, the horn stops glowing, and a tiny ball of white light appears at its tip
- >I move in closer towards the plushie to inspect the light
- >I reach out to touch it, but I stop myself
- >The tiny ball of white light has begun to expand
- >ohshit.wmv
- >The light begins to encase the Twilight plushie and Emily
- “EMILY!”
- >I run to her and pull her off the beanbag chair
- >She wakes up and looks at the scene unfolding in front of her
- >”Twily! No!” she says with a horrified tone in her voice
- >The ball of light consumes the plushie, but it continues expanding
- >It begins growing at a faster rate
- >I pick up Emily and hold her close
- >Suddenly, the ball of light explodes, consuming everything in its path
- >Fluttershy, Emily and I are blinded
- >This is almost exactly what happened in my dream, everything goes to white
- >In the whiteness, I see the silhouette of the plushie. It’s entirely black
- >It rises into the air and begins to grow at an alarming rate, eventually becoming the same size as Fluttershy
- >Then, something incredible happens. The silhouette opens its eyes
- >I still see nothing but white and the silhouette
- >But I can feel Emily in my arms
- >The silhouette closes its eyes
- >The blinding white light recedes, allowing me to see Fluttershy and Emily
- >However, the light still encases the silhouette
- >The light lowers back to ground level, taking the silhouette with it
- >When it gets to the beanbag chair, it recedes instantly
- >The silhouette disappears, revealing Twilight Sparkle
- >She’s now in her pony form, and lying on top of Emily’s blanket on the beanbag chair
- >Twilight’s asleep on the blanket and snoring softly
- >All three of us are shocked at what just took place
- >I put Emily down and begin to walk towards Twilight
- >Emily and Fluttershy are right behind me
- >I get to the beanbag chair, bend down, and look directly at Twilight
- >She looks the same as she does in the show post Season 3
- >Purple fur, Indigo mane and tail (each with one pink stripe), wings and cutie mark
- >I reach out to Twilight’s back and pet her fur
- >Sure enough, it’s just as soft as Fluttershy’s
- >Twilight groans, and I retract my hand
- >Emily climbs onto the beanbag chair next to Twilight
- >She wraps her arms around Twilight and gives her a hug
- >This causes Twilight to open her eyes
- >She looks directly at Emily, who responds with a smile that stretches from ear to ear
- >Then, Twilight speaks
- >”Hi, Emily!”
- >Wait, what the fuck?! How does Twilight know Emily’s name?!
- >”Twilight? Is it really you?” Emily asks
- >”Yes, it’s really me!” Twilight replies
- >Emily strengthens the hug, and Twilight hugs her back
- >It’s a very sweet moment, but I need to ask her how she knew Emily’s name
- >”But, how did you know my name?” Emily asks
- >Thanks for doing that for me
- >”I’ve heard your mom call you by your name before.” Twilight responds
- >suddenrealization.jpg
- “That explains why you asked me what my name was, Fluttershy!”
- >”How?”
- “Because you’d never heard my name before! Twilight had heard Janet call Emily by her name while she was in plushie form, so she knew who Emily was! You’d never heard my name since I live alone, so that’s why you asked me!”
- >I turn to Twilight
- “Were you able to see Emily, too?”
- >"Yes.”
- >I turn back to Fluttershy
- “Were you able to see me?”
- >Fluttershy shakes her head
- “No?” Then how was Twilight able to see Emily?”
- >”Even I don’t know how I was able to see Emily,” Twilight answers. “I just started being able to see her as soon as she hugged me for the first time.”
- >”Is it because you’re a princess?” Emily asks
- >”Maybe.”
- >Twilight isn’t able to complete her sentence, as a voice penetrates the library. It’s Janet.
- >”Emily!”
- >This is bad, this is really… REALLY bad…
- >Shit, what am I gonna do?!
- >Well, only one thing to do now
- >They have to be hidden
- “Fluttershy, get back in the messenger bag! Twilight, get under the blanket!”
- >”Why?” They both ask in unison
- “Just do it!”
- >I open my messenger bag and Fluttershy flies into it
- >Emily gets off the blanket, which allows Twilight to crawl underneath it and get out of sight
- >I close the bag just as Janet walks into the room
- >”Hey there, you two!” she says
- “Hey, Janet!”
- >”Did you two find anything interesting?”
- >Well, yes, but probably not in the context you’re thinking of
- >”We sure did, Mommy!” Emily says
- >”Well, what did you find?” Janet asks
- >Shit, she may have me cornered now
- “We found a copy of ‘Where the Wild Things Are’.”
- >”Oh, such a great story!” Janet exclaims. “Too bad the movie wasn’t that good.”
- >I couldn’t agree more with that statement
- >”Emily, where’s your Twilight toy?”
- >”It’s under the blanket, Mommy, I’ll get it for you!”
- >She turns around and begins to take the blanket off of Twilight
- “WAIT!”
- >Fuck. Why did I just say that?!
- >Now I’ve done it
- >”Wait for what, Anon?” Janet asks
- >Fuck. There’s no way out of this, is there?
- >Time to come clean and tell the truth
- “Look, Janet, something happened while you were gone…”
- >She looks at me with a puzzled look on her face
- >”What do you mean?” she asks
- “Well, it’s just… something happened with Emily’s plushie.”
- >”Oh, no! Did it rip, Emily? Don’t worry, Mommy will fix it!”
- “No, it didn’t rip.”
- >”Then what happened?”
- >There’s no way out of it now
- >I have to tell her
- “I think it’d be better if she told you herself.”
- >Janet looks to Emily
- “Not Emily. Someone else.”
- >Janet looks back to me
- “Twilight? Can you come out from under the blanket, please?”
- >Twilight slowly crawls out from underneath the blanket
- >Janet looks dumbfounded at the sight
- “That’s not all.”
- >”There’s more?”
- >I open the messenger bag
- “Fluttershy, come on out. It’s time for you to meet someone.”
- >Hesitantly, Fluttershy pokes her head out from the messenger bag
- >”You’re kidding, right?” Janet says
- “Please don’t freak out!”
- >”I’m not even capable of freaking out at this point, Anon.”
- >Okay? I guess?
- >”I’ve definitely seen weirder stuff in my life, but this is pretty far up there.” She states
- >I look at Twilight, and she looks back at me
- ”You’re not going to tell anyone about this, are you?”
- >”I’ll keep it a secret on one condition.”
- “And that is?”
- >”You take her with you.”
- “What?!”
- >”You heard me. You’re taking her with you. I just can’t afford to take care of… of a cartoon pony!”
- >This gets to Emily, as she starts crying
- >”Mommy! Please! Don’t take Twilight away from me!”
- >”I’ve made up my mind, honey! Twilight is going with Anonymous!”
- >Twilight goes to Emily’s side and begins comforting her
- >”Don’t worry. I’ll be fine. Anonymous will take good care of me.”
- >Emily continues crying and wraps her arms around Twilight
- >Janet is still unmoved by this, while Fluttershy and I are on the verge of tears
- >I walk over to Emily and Twilight and give them both a hug
- >Fluttershy trots over and joins in
- >Emily’s now bawling, and Twilight has begun to shed a few tears herself
- >“Emily…” Fluttershy says
- >She’s still crying, but Emily turns her head and looks at Fluttershy
- >“You don’t need to worry. Twilight’s in good hands.”
- >Emily turns back to Twilight
- >They both look at each other
- >”Twilight… please… don’t leave…” Emily says while sobbing
- >”I’m sorry…” Twilight replies
- >Emily strengthens the hug even more
- >The two continue crying
- >Even though they just met today, they’ve already formed an unbreakable bond
- >I turn to Janet and find that she’s finally accepted what’s going on
- >She can’t fully separate Twilight and Emily
- >”ALRIGHT! Alright!” Janet screams
- >Emily stops hugging Twilight and turns to face her mother
- >Twilight looks at Janet as well
- >”Look, I can’t let you keep Twilight, but I will allow this…”
- >Emily’s face begins to light up
- >”Twilight can come visit on weekends if she wants to
- >Emily and Twilight jump for joy and run over to Janet
- >”Thank you, Mommy!” Emily exclaims. She’s now crying tears of joy
- >Janet kneels down and hugs her daughter
- >I turn to Fluttershy, who has a huge smile on her face
- >I kneel down beside Fluttershy and smile
- “Looks like you’ve got a new roommate.”
- >”You’ll take good care of both of us, right?” Fluttershy asks
- “Of course.”
- >“Thank you, Anon,” Fluttershy says “Oh, look!”
- >I turn around and see Janet give Twilight a hug
- >We begin to exit the library
- >Fluttershy is inside my messenger bag, but Twilight has no way to hide
- >At least, there’s no way for her to hide that I know of
- >”Janet, before I go with Anonymous, I need to get something from your house.”
- >Huh? What could she possibly need to get from Janet’s house?
- >”Um… Sure, Twilight. What do you need?”
- >”You’ll know what I need when you see it
- >Janet looks incredibly confused
- >I turn to Twilight
- “Twilight, if you don’t mind me asking, how are you going to hide yourself from view of the public?”
- >She responds by casting a spell
- >Her horn begins to glow, and slowly her body disappears
- >Wait, invisibility? Did she learn that spell in the show?
- >Her body disappears completely
- >“I didn’t know you could turn invisible, Twilight!” Emily states
- >I hear her giggle, and she reappears
- >Yup. That’ll hide her
- >I close my messenger bag, and Twilight casts her invisibility spell again
- >We exit the library
- >Janet hits the unlock button on her keys, and her car unlocks
- >We arrive at Janet’s car, and Twilight reappears
- “Twilight?”
- >She turns to me
- “Just what do you need to get from Janet’s house?”
- >”I just need to get my friend.”
- >Friend? What the fuck is she talking about?
- >That’s when it hits me
- >She’s talking about Spike
- >The voice in the dream did not mention this
- >I open my messenger bag, and Fluttershy pops her head out
- “Fluttershy, I think it’s best that you go with Twilight, just to check on who this ‘friend’ is.”
- >She looks at me with concern. She knows I know exactly who Twilight is talking about
- “Don’t worry. I’ll be right behind you guys. I just need some time to think.”
- >Fluttershy nods and hops out of the messenger bag
- >Janet puts Emily in her booster seat
- >Fluttershy and Twilight enter the car and sit down next to Emily
- >Twilight uses her magic to put on their seatbelts
- >Janet shuts the back door of her car and turns around to face me
- >”Why can’t you just take Fluttershy with you?” she says
- “I need some time to think about how I’m going to go about caring for both of them.”
- >”Do you really need to think about it on your own?”
- “Yes, I do.”
- >”Alright then. See you soon.”
- >Janet opens up her door and gets into the driver’s seat
- “Janet…”
- >”Yes, Anon?”
- “You seemed to accept the fact that Twilight and Fluttershy existed without issue. Why? Weren’t you shocked?”
- >”Like I said, Anon. I’ve seen much weirder.”
- >Shut shuts her door, puts the keys into the ignition and starts the car
- >Twilight, Fluttershy and Emily wave goodbye as Janet drives out of the parking lot
- >I walk to my car, contemplating how I’m going to take care of the two of them
- >I unlock my car, open the front door and sit in the driver’s seat
- >I shut the door and sigh
- >I was told that I’d only have to deal with one more
- >Placing my head on the steering wheel, I start talking to myself
- “You lied to me… you fucking lied to me!”
- >I become increasingly angry
- “You said one more! ONE!”
- >I force the keys into the ignition
- “Fuck you! I can’t take care of three!”
- >I start the car
- ”I work a dead end job, making eight dollars an hour, and you expect me to be able to care for THREE of them?!
- >I sit back up and furiously put on my seatbelt
- ”No! I can’t do this!”
- >I slam my foot onto the gas pedal and drive out of the parking lot
- >Just as I get out of my parking space, I hear tires screech in the distance
- “Janet…”
- >I begin driving out of the parking lot when I hear a horn beep
- “Emily…”
- >I begin to enter the main road, when I see a car come flying down the street
- “Twilight… Fluttershy…”
- >I turn left and begin driving, when I stop my car in the middle of the road
- “Celestia, forgive me!”
- >The speeding car crashes into mine, causing the windows to shatter and the airbags to go off
- >Then, I see a bright light
- >Suddenly, I see nothing but white
- >It’s the direct opposite look of the room I was in when I hit my head on the coffee table
- >I look down at my clothes and find I’m wearing all white
- “No…”
- >I reach my hand behind my back and find I now have wings
- >A small gasp escapes my mouth, and a tear flows from my eye
- “No!”
- >I look up and see a golden ring floating above my head
- >It’s a halo
- “NO!”
- >I’m an angel now
- >The crash had killed me
- >I get on my knees and begin trying to dig through the floor of the room I was in
- >My hands fail to penetrate the floor
- “NO! NO! NO!”
- >I stop trying to dig my way out, and I start crying
- >”Isn’t this what you wanted?” a voice says
- >It’s different from the voice in my dream
- >It sounds younger, but it’s just as angelic and royal-sounding
- >I continue crying
- >”You said ‘Celestia, forgive me’ just as the car crashed into you. That must mean you saw the crash as a way out.”
- “I wasn’t thinking clearly! I don’t know why I said that!”
- >”Then get up and say that to my face, human.”
- >I stand up and turn around, and what I see in front of me is nothing short of shocking
- >It’s Princess Luna
- “Princess Luna…”
- >Just like Twilight and Fluttershy, she’s exactly the same as in the show
- >I bow to her
- >”That was a very bad decision you made.” She says
- “I don’t know what came over me, your highness! I… I just…”
- >”Just what?”
- “I… I guess I just couldn’t handle the responsibility of taking care of three of them.”
- >”So you chose to commit suicide?”
- “No.”
- >”That’s what it sounded like to me.”
- “Your highness, the voice I heard in the dream told me only one more!”
- >”That one more was Twilight Sparkle! You should’ve known Spike would be involved with her!”
- “I can’t handle three of them!”
- >”Ah, but you can handle two?”
- “Three is too many, Princess!”
- >“But two was perfectly fine? Surely if you can handle two ponies you can handle a baby dragon!”
- “I can’t handle a fucking dragon!”
- >Luna smacks me across the face with her hoof
- >”Don’t you DARE use that language in my presence!”
- “My apologies, Princess…”
- >She sighs and turns away from me
- >”At this rate, you’ll never complete your task. At this rate you’ll never make it to…”
- >She stops herself
- >”Forget I said that.”
- “Wait, what task? Make it where?!”
- >”I told you to forget I said that.”
- “No! I’m not going to forget you said that! Now tell me about this quest and this place I’m supposed to be going to!”
- >”Anonymous, you have done your job perfectly so far, but now it’s time for it to continue.”
- >She closes her eyes, and her horn begins to glow
- >ohshit.jpg
- “Wait! Princess! Please stop!”
- >She doesn’t
- “What do you mean I’ve done my job perfectly?!”
- >The room begins to shake
- >I step away from her
- “Luna! Please! Tell me what’s going to happen!”
- >Luna bends down and aims her horn right at my chest
- “LUNA! Stop!”
- >A ball of blue light appears on the tip of her horn
- “WAIT!”
- >”Fear not, I’m sending you back.”
- > She shoots a beam from the light on her horn, and it hits me square in the chest
- >My body begins disintegrating
- “LUNA!”
- >She looks back up at me
- >”Goodbye, Anonymous.”
- “LUNA, WAIT!”
- >She looks me dead in the eye
- >”I’ll see you soon.”
- >With that statement, my entire body disintegrated, and I saw nothing but black
- >I begin to hear noises, but they’re muted
- >There’s screaming, but I can’t tell where it’s coming from.
- >I slowly open my eyes
- >The airbags have been punctured and have deflated as a result, allowing me to see the wreckage
- >Everything is completely ruined
- >The windshield of my car is shattered horrendously, the hood is badly damaged and the windows on the left side of the car are gone
- >The car that hit me lies stuck in the middle of the road
- >I hear a voice come from outside my wrecked car
- >”Emily, stay inside the car with Fluttershy and Twilight!”
- >Then, I hear a door shut and footsteps coming closer to me
- >I hear sirens in the distance
- >Everything continues to sound muted and far away
- >”Anon! Stay with me! Everything’ll be fine as long as you stay with me!”
- “Janet…”
- >”Oh, God, you’re alive!”
- “Janet…”
- >”What is it, Anon?! What is it?!”
- “Keep… keep… keep the ponies hidden…”
- >I black out
- >Beep
- >Beep
- >A heart rate monitor is going off
- >But… where am I?
- >I begin to open my eyes
- >I’m in a hospital room
- >Somehow, I survived the crash
- >I open my eyes further and look to my left
- >Janet and Emily are sitting down on a bench
- >In Janet’s lap lies Fluttershy, fast asleep
- >In Emily’s lap is Twilight, out cold
- >But both Emily and Janet are wide awake, and they haven’t noticed me
- >Time to let them know I’m up
- “Did you keep them hidden like I asked you to?”
- >Janet and Emily turn to me, and Fluttershy and Twilight wake up
- >”Yes. I kept them hidden.” Janet says
- >Fluttershy and Twilight jump up and fly over to my bed
- >Fluttershy lands on my left side, Twilight on my right
- >They nuzzle their heads against my neck
- >”Thank goodness you’re okay!” Fluttershy exclaims
- >”We were so worried about you!” Twilight states
- >Janet comes to my bedside and kisses me on the forehead
- >”Thank God you’re okay.” She says
- >I nod at Janet and turn to Twilight
- “So, did you get your friend?”
- >Twilight nods and gestures with her hoof, pointing over to the corner of the room
- >There, in a small wicker basket wrapped in a white blanket, is Spike
- >He looks just the same as he did in the show, green spines on his back and all
- >I turn back to Twilight
- “He’s cute when he’s sleeping.”
- >”Isn’t he?” Twilight says
- >I turn back to Janet
- “So, how long have I been out?”
- >”Two days.” Janet says
- >Shit. I hope James under
- >”Anon…” Emily says
- “Yes, Emily?”
- >”We got you a “Get Well Soon” gift…”
- “Really? That’s so sweet. You didn’t have to get me anything.”
- >”Well, we wanted you to feel better, so we got you a little something”
- >I blush
- >”Twilight, would you do the honors?” Janet asks
- >In response, Twilight’s horn begins glowing, and a box floats up from the side of the bed
- >It’s a Build-a-Bear box
- >Twilight puts it into my lap
- >”Well, go on! Open it!” Emily demands
- >I put my hands on the box, when I hear a voice inside my head. The one from my dream
- >It drowns out all the other sounds in the room
- >”Fluttershy and Twilight, for them you care.”
- >”Now it’s time to take to the air.”
- >”Anon? Is everything alright?” Fluttershy asks, breaking the silence created by the voice
- “Yes, everything’s fine.”
- >I begin to open the box
- >I take the handles that hold the top two sides of the box out of their holders
- >The box opens
- >I reach my right hand inside, and make contact with soft fur
- >Oh, they did not…
- >I put my other hand inside the box
- >I feel around for a bit, before I touch something
- >It feels like the toy has wings
- >Oh, yes they did…
- >I pull the plushie out, revealing a rainbow mane and soft pastel blue fur
- >It’s Rainbow Dash
- >”We hope you like it!” Emily says
- “Are you kidding? I couldn’t be happier with this!”
- >waitaminute.jpg
- >I repeat what the voice just said to me inside my head
- >”Now it’s time to take to the air…”
- >Does this mean that this Rainbow Dash plush will…
- >The voice inside my head returns
- >It drowns out all sound again
- >”Yes.” It says.
- >All sound returns right after the voice says this one simple word
- >I lock eyes with the plushie
- “I’m ready.”
- >All five of us just chat for the rest of the day
- >Hours pass, and eventually the sun begins to set
- >The entire time, I’m holding my new Rainbow Dash plushie in my arms
- >”Mommy, are we going to stay with Anonymous until he gets better?” Emily asks
- >”Of course, honey.”
- >I smile at Emily, and she smiles back at me
- “Twilight, Fluttershy, what are you going to do if the doctors come in to check on me?”
- >”Don’t worry. My invisibility spell can work with more than one pony, so I’ll be able to hide both myself and Fluttershy.”
- >Fluttershy nods
- >”The only time I’d ever leave your side is to hide from the doctors. That way, we’ll be able to stay together forever!”
- >Together forever with Fluttershy, Twilight, and Spike? Yeah, I’d like that
- >Eventually, the sun sets, and everyone falls asleep
- >That is, everyone except for me
- >The light remains on in my hospital room, and the heart rate monitor keeps beeping
- >I still have the Rainbow Dash plushie in my arms
- >I turn it around, place it in my lap and look directly at its eyes
- “Whenever you’re ready, I’m ready.”
- >Almost immediately after I say that, the plushie begins to grow in size
- >It reaches pony size, and begins transforming from a plushie into a pony
- >I close my eyes, when suddenly…
- >…poof
- >I open my eyes and find Rainbow Dash sleeping on my lap
- >I run my hand through her mane, which causes her to wake up, look me directly in the eyes, and smile
- “Hi there, Rainbow Dash…”
