- 18:30 FiremanPrime 'Sup.
- 18:30 FiremanPrime Been working on a 'Editor's Guide' (crib notes) during the day. Pleasantly surprised to see a thread up.
- 18:32 Gentlemanvaultboy So, what are the notes?
- 18:32 Gentlemanvaultboy Can I see?
- 18:33 FiremanPrime Sure. Gimme a minute.
- 18:34 FiremanPrime I also threw in some ideas as to how entities would travel the Metaverse, as a heads-up.
- 18:34 FiremanPrime http://pastebin.com/6Sm1rK4m
- 18:35 Gentlemanvaultboy Cool, I hadn't thought of any yet
- 18:35 FiremanPrime We've got Gates, Teleporters, and Barges (Meta-space ships).
- 18:42 Gentlemanvaultboy I don't like the Idea of Meta-earthlings finding a way to the real world
- 18:43 Gentlemanvaultboy but other than that, this is some good stuff
- 18:43 FiremanPrime I can rectify it if we come to a consensus, but you do have a point. The 'critics' seemed a bit far-fetched myself.
- 18:44 Gentlemanvaultboy Is it okay if I post some of this in the thread
- 18:44 FiremanPrime Sure. I just took out the 'critics'. Fire away.

- 18:52 FiremanPrime Hello there Quantumshard
- 18:52 Quantumshard hey
- 18:53 Gentlemanvaultboy I love the idea of Twilight duty.
- 18:55 FiremanPrime As do I. I can see MLP, Twilight, and Harry Potter being the big trinity of dreaded duties.
- 18:55 Quantumshard I always pictured things like DC being the worst
- 18:56 Gentlemanvaultboy DC is dangerous and hard
- 18:56 Gentlemanvaultboy Twilight is like having to shovel shit
- 18:57 FiremanPrime DC/Marvel is dangerous, Mass Effect is a sneaky killer, but Twilight and Ben 10 and the like are the equivalent of ditch-digging.
- 18:59 FiremanPrime Well, does everybody in here have a copy of the Risus system rules that we're going to use? http://www222.pair.com/sjohn/risus.htm
- 18:59 Gentlemanvaultboy just downloaded it today
- 19:00 Gentlemanvaultboy read the decription, and it seems simple enough
- 19:00 Gentlemanvaultboy also, sort of apropriate
- 19:01 Quantumshard still have to check out risus
- 19:02 FiremanPrime We just need to shake down the Cliches we're going to use, the dice count, etc.
- 19:02 FiremanPrime We also need to pick a DM.

- 19:14 Greyheart Well hello.
- 19:14 Gentlemanvaultboy yo greyheart
- 19:14 Gentlemanvaultboy welcome to the creation room
- 19:15 Greyheart So, what have you three been discussing?
- 19:15 Gentlemanvaultboy not much
- 19:15 FiremanPrime Hello Greyheart. We've just been sitting here. Having Ross here would be nice.
- 19:15 Gentlemanvaultboy You want to lead off with an idea?
- 19:16 Quantumshard dumped some material in the thread. Have to go away for a minute.
- 19:16 FiremanPrime A'ight.
- 19:16 Greyheart Er, not sure. Let me finish reading up what was posted while I was away from the thread.
- 19:25 Greyheart Wow, a bunch of stuff there.
- 19:26 Gentlemanvaultboy What struck you?
- 19:26 Greyheart Hmm...the Forest of the Verses.
- 19:26 Gentlemanvaultboy Opinion? Good or bad?
- 19:27 Greyheart I kind of like it, but I'm trying to picture how the hell it appears to us mere mortals.
- 19:27 Greyheart Giant, ambiguously-formed white trees that seemingly have no end to their branches?
- 19:28 Gentlemanvaultboy I think the forest was a metaphor
- 19:29 Gentlemanvaultboy I picture it as long white roads in space
- 19:29 Greyheart Ah, okay. Must have read it the wrong way.
- 19:29 Greyheart Or perhaps it appears differently to everyone?
- 19:29 Gentlemanvaultboy Each leading to a world
- 19:30 FiremanPrime Greyheart: It does appear differently to everybody, based on their own ideas and perceptions. For the purposes of coordinates and map-making, it would be a great 'forest', but to the actual observers looking forth from Barges, it appears differently to everyone.
- 19:31 Gentlemanvaultboy The tree thing reminds me of the Dr.Who episode, "Silence in the Library"
- 19:31 Gentlemanvaultboy "This is our forest, these are our trees."
- 19:31 Greyheart Thank you, FiremanPrime. To me, it reminds me exactly of the Woods in the Magician's Nephew.
- 19:32 FiremanPrime Also, I'll be logging everything for future reference and note-modifying.

- 19:33 Greyheart Ah. So, who is in control of the Editors? Do they run themselves and/or are they overseen by Meta-Earth's government?
- 19:33 FiremanPrime Greetings, Lilli.
- 19:34 FiremanPrime The Editors are a self-contained organization. MetaEarth's government generally helps out whenever it can, but knows that the Editors know far more than they do about it.
- 19:34 Greyheart Welcome to the chat.
- 19:34 Greyheart @FiremanPrime: Ah, thank you.
- 19:35 Gentlemanvaultboy I see Editor HQ existing not entirely on meta-earth, but somewhere "Outside." To keep more people from jacking their tech.
- 19:36 Greyheart Mmm, yes, I can see that too. Doesn't make sense if they're trying to protect their world from another Crossover.
- 19:36 Greyheart Maybe a pocket universe?
- 19:36 FiremanPrime Yeah, exactly.
- 19:36 FiremanPrime As a space-station would be to a planet in the galaxy, so would Editor HQ be to MetaEarth in the Metaverse.
- 19:37 Greyheart Perfect. Does it have a name yet, besides Editor HQ?
- 19:37 FiremanPrime Not, yet, no.
- 19:37 Gentlemanvaultboy Like a bubble on the outside of the univerce, except not like that at all.
- 19:37 Greyheart I see what you did there.
- 19:38 Greyheart Hmm, let's see...argh, trying not to be influenced by other fiction...
- 19:38 Gentlemanvaultboy Something Latin and ominous
- 19:39 Gentlemanvaultboy Edittorium
- 19:39 Lillifag hey, not sure if this has been covered yet
- 19:39 Greyheart Yes, Lilli?
- 19:39 Gentlemanvaultboy The Editorial
- 19:39 FiremanPrime The Lexica.
- 19:39 Lillifag but if Editors recruit from meta-earth or background chars and the like
- 19:40 Lillifag do they recruit things that are obviously non-humans
- 19:40 FiremanPrime I would think so, if they can behave themselves. They can be deployed in settings that are used to seeing non-humans or perhaps their home Canon.
- 19:41 Gentlemanvaultboy Our head tech guy is a super-intelligent shade of the color blue.
- 19:41 Greyheart Eh?
- 19:41 FiremanPrime Hitchhiker's Guide.
- 19:41 Greyheart Ooooooooh.
- 19:41 FiremanPrime Good stuff. Highly recommend it.
- 19:42 Gentlemanvaultboy He shows up for that one scene and never shows up again
- 19:42 Greyheart Hmm, perhaps...?
- 19:42 Lillifag Only that one scene?
- 19:42 Greyheart Guys, are you thinking what I might be thinking?
- 19:43 Lillifag I liked that concept.
- 19:43 Gentlemanvaultboy I think so
- 19:43 Greyheart Blargh...the name for Editor HQ world...I think it should have something to do with...flowing? Movement? Shifting, change?
- 19:44 Gentlemanvaultboy I haven't read that book in forever

- 19:44 FiremanPrime I accidentally an acronym.
- 19:45 Greyheart I laugh now.
- 19:45 Kenoh so this is all about that TG thread that's currently going on?
- 19:45 Greyheart Quite, good fellow.
- 19:45 Kenoh ah good stuff
- 19:45 Gentlemanvaultboy Hello Kenoh, we are discussing base names
- 19:45 FiremanPrime Yes indeed Kenoh.
- 19:45 Greyheart We are discussing the name of the Editor HQ pocket universe.
- 19:45 Kenoh so here's a question, where do the player characters come from?
- 19:45 Lillifag Also, have you covered characters that ignore/constantly break the 4th wall yet?
- 19:46 Kenoh I don't think that was really answered in the thread
- 19:46 Kenoh at least as far as I read
- 19:46 Greyheart All sorts of places: Meta Earth and the Multiverse.
- 19:46 Kenoh well what I mean is
- 19:46 Greyheart Also, we have mentioned Deadpool.
- 19:46 Kenoh Can Captai nKirk suddenly realize he's a character in a far greater game
- 19:46 Gentlemanvaultboy nope, bound by canon
- 19:46 Kenoh and start driving his space ship around the multiverse trying to right wrongs?
- 19:47 Gentlemanvaultboy He can't eave his univerce
- 19:47 Kenoh unless a crossover happens
- 19:47 FiremanPrime No; The Canons are sealed, meaning that when the Sue/Fixers/whatever are removed, the Canon snaps back to normal. Only MetaEarth is capable of universe travel, due to the fact that it is tied to the font of Meta in the Metaverse (Real Earth).
- 19:47 Kenoh well what about official crossovers?
- 19:47 Kenoh there are some pretty ridiculous ones
- 19:47 Gentlemanvaultboy But that redshirt that died last episode? He works foe us now.
- 19:48 Gentlemanvaultboy We "plucked" him
- 19:48 Greyheart "Official" crossovers are likely considered "Canon" and therefore left alone.
- 19:48 Kenoh but what if they aren't recognized as canon?
- 19:48 Gentlemanvaultboy Or at worse AU
- 19:48 Kenoh So it's like Hypertime
- 19:48 FiremanPrime They're also likely temporary, so unless somebody starts time-looping, it's good.
- 19:48 Kenoh Whatever happened happened,
- 19:48 Kenoh It happened
- 19:48 Kenoh it might not have happened in the mainstream universe
- 19:48 Kenoh but there is a universe somewhere where it DID happen
- 19:49 FiremanPrime Indeed it did.
- 19:49 Greyheart Consider the DC/Marvel combined universe: Moonknight is a combination of Wolverine and Batman, but is not a Sue.
- 19:49 FiremanPrime Thus the Canon Trees can be infinitely high.
- 19:49 Kenoh That's not moon knight
- 19:49 Kenoh thats dark claw
- 19:49 Greyheart Isn't it?
- 19:49 Kenoh DarkClaw was Batman x WOlverine
- 19:50 Kenoh MOonknight is actually his own character
- 19:50 Kenoh I had an idea somewhat like this once, where basically if people didn't pay attention to you, you were revised out of existence. It was based on the idea that Superman's Original nemesis wasn't Lex Luthor, but the Ultra humanite
- 19:50 Greyheart Ah, yes, I just looked it up. I was mistaken. Thank you for correcting me.
- 19:50 Kenoh but as time went on, Lex Luthor became the more popular and important character
- 19:51 Kenoh and thus Ultra Humanite was more or less forgotten
- 19:51 Kenoh and became only a tangential character
- 19:51 Gentlemanvaultboy until justice league
- 19:51 Greyheart I don't even know about Ultra Humanite: hence your point.
- 19:51 Gentlemanvaultboy He was so awesome in that
- 19:51 Kenoh The overarching idea was that the Superman Like character was forgotten about in exchange for an edgier more 90s style comic book hero
- 19:52 Kenoh and then he dissapears
- 19:52 Kenoh but the super villain decides to wreck all continuity to keep himself in
- 19:52 Kenoh but anyway
- 19:52 Greyheart Hmm...I see.
- 19:52 Kenoh Idea for an editor HQ - The Chophouse
- 19:52 Kenoh The Idea Factory
- 19:53 Gentlemanvaultboy Grey, this is the ultra Humanite
- 19:53 *** Quantumshard quit (Quit: http://www.mibbit.com ajax IRC Client)
- 19:53 Kenoh yeah, the ultra humanite eventually gained the ability to transfer his mind into the bodies of other things
- 19:53 Kenoh he used to be an old bald guy
- 19:53 Greyheart Oh Flash. You were so happy-go-lucky.
- 19:53 Gentlemanvaultboy Chophouse seems like the thing the editors would call it
- 19:54 Kenoh so is there essentially a "Fall to the darkside" sort of thing?
- 19:54 FiremanPrime I still like TIMMU as an official name, but the Chophouse is a great nickname.
- 19:54 Gentlemanvaultboy That was what i was thinking
- 19:54 Kenoh where if you really do decide that it's better off to pull batman to help you
- 19:54 Kenoh you start to cause some of the problems you set out to cause
- 19:54 Kenoh *cure
- 19:55 Kenoh also, are the editors like the police, where they can be tragically outgunned by a guy who shops at an army surplus store?
- 19:56 Kenoh Oh yeah, I got a Cosmic Cube, Fuck you
- 19:57 FiremanPrime Depends. They'd usually avoid messing with Sues with that kind of tech head-on, and stay on the good side of the Canon locals. However, if the shit hits the fan, the Editors are in a pickle if they don't get some local tech...
- 19:57 Gentlemanvaultboy They do procure local tech
- 19:58 Gentlemanvaultboy all equipment is supposed to be procured on site
- 19:58 Kenoh well it seems like the Shippers would become gods and creators unto themselves
- 19:58 FiremanPrime But fighting a Cosmic Cube requires not getting in a situation where a Sue is going to have the time or capability to use it against you at all.
- 19:58 Kenoh Unless all the ridiculous stuff from any given universe only extends massive power to that universe
- 19:59 Kenoh as in the cure for cancer works anywhere, but something like an Infinity gauntlet can only twist reality on the universe in which it was made
- 19:59 Kenoh it has no power to manipulate anything outside of it
- 19:59 Gentlemanvaultboy Any Shipper that starts making waves like that is going to get Editors breathing down their neck. Thats bad business.
- 19:59 FiremanPrime The power of a character or weapon greatly shrinks when it is taken out of it's home-canon, preventing somebody from grabbing, say, The God-Emperor before the Horus Heresy and trucking around with him to conquer the Metaverse.
- 20:01 Kenoh here's a thought about crossovers, sometimes they occur naturally, and they unleash enormous energies and possiblities. they are incredibly dangerous but natural events, somewhat like a hurricane.
- 20:01 Kenoh but
- 20:01 Kenoh Sometimes people who see a use or a power for it will artificially induce a Crossover somehow, trying to harness the enormous potential and power that can be released for personal benefit, even if that benefit is the destruction of countless universes
- 20:02 Kenoh Editors would have to go in, and find a way to separate the two universes, without destabilizing either one.
- 20:02 Lillifag But what about Canon Crossovers?
- 20:02 FiremanPrime I can see that happening. As Canons expand and branch out, they might hit the branches of other Canons, resulting in natural Crossovers.
- 20:02 Gentlemanvaultboy I always think that techniques would transfer between worlds, like if you go to DBZ and learn to fly your able to fly in other realitys
- 20:02 FiremanPrime Like a good forester, the Editors will make sure that the branches are separated without damaging the branches themselves and put them on paths to grow peacefully again.
- 20:03 Kenoh Gi Joe x Transformers, "well Carl, the Universes were already pretty close, it was bound to happen "
- 20:03 Greyheart The Editors (the Editor Editors, the high ups) must be insanely wise for this.
- 20:03 Kenoh I just figure some Fireman trying to essentially rig universes up to explode like an atomic bomb
- 20:03 FiremanPrime MLPx40K: "You can't say you didn't see it coming, what with the size of the latter and the rate-of-growth of the former."
- 20:04 Kenoh and some shipper is trying to merge them in order to unleash the power to create some incredibly powerful artifact that he can steal
- 20:04 FiremanPrime Kenoh: That is exactly what Firemen try to do. Using Sues, Rogues, etc., they try to take down entire canons. If all goes as plans, it'd be like setting off a carbomb next to the tree, blowing it apart and damaging neighbors badly.
- 20:04 Kenoh Merge DC and Marvel, Merge the power of the Source with the Infinity gauntle hook up, then steal the two and leave the universe to rot
- 20:06 Gentlemanvaultboy Any canon that is destroyed also addles the creator in the real world. You remember any author or filmmaker that went to shit, and you have no clue why. It was either Sues or Firemen.
- 20:06 Greyheart May I say something off-topic?
- 20:06 FiremanPrime Sure.
- 20:07 Greyheart I just told my roommate about Pizza Hut's ten dollar deal and he started twitching. Should I be concerned?
- 20:07 Kenoh twitching with delight?
- 20:07 Kenoh I just got one of those actually
- 20:07 Gentlemanvaultboy or anger
- 20:07 Greyheart I...think so? He left the room.
- 20:07 Lillifag be afraid
- 20:07 Lillifag be very afraid
- 20:07 Greyheart Well, I don't see wh- OH MOTHER OF GODS HELP ME!
- 20:07 Gentlemanvaultboy what is this ten dollar deal?
- 20:07 Greyheart NOOOOOOOO!!!
- 20:07 Kenoh The KGB employed lots of people known as illegals before and during the cold war
- 20:08 Kenoh they essentially put them in deep cover, to the point where they lived as other people for long periods of time
- 20:08 Kenoh I wonder if the editors would do such a thing
- 20:08 Greyheart Yeah, sleeper agents.
- 20:08 Kenoh especially in a universe that might be prone to fuck ups
- 20:08 Greyheart It was discussed and approved, as I recall.
- 20:08 Kenoh that red shirted ensign
- 20:08 Kenoh he's filing reports
- 20:09 Greyheart @Gentlemanvaultboy: Pizza Hut is doing a deal where any of their pizzas is just ten dollars. Limited time only, but still. ANY PIZZA.
- 20:09 Kenoh "Star Date 321.5... oh man now I'm talking like them too. Well, nothing to report really, we beat up some monsters in cheezy rubber suits... Nothing big is happening"
- 20:09 FiremanPrime I'm getting ready to put the current thread in the sup/tg/ archives. How's this for a description: "We continue world-building our freshly popularized meta-fanfiction campaign setting."
- 20:09 Kenoh any pizza, excluding stuffed crust, and you have to pick it up
- 20:09 Kenoh other than that, you're good
- 20:09 Greyheart @FiremanPrime: Sounds good.
- 20:09 Gentlemanvaultboy nice
- 20:09 Kenoh sounds good to me
- 20:10 Lillifag If they fuck up awfully and destroy a canon character, would they put a Proofreader agent in their place to replace them?
- 20:10 Kenoh If abilities don't always transfer perfectly to another world
- 20:10 Kenoh it seems like skills would be incredibly useful
- 20:10 Greyheart I'm not sure you CAN destroy a canon character without serious ramifications.
- 20:10 Greyheart Like, reality maelstrom level ramifications.
- 20:10 Kenoh Anyone ever read fables?
- 20:10 FiremanPrime I read Fables. Good stuff.
- 20:10 Kenoh remember when Snow White got shot in the head?
- 20:11 Kenoh really early on
- 20:11 Kenoh or Jack
- 20:11 Kenoh Neither of them can die easily
- 20:11 FiremanPrime Vaguely. I read it a few years ago.
- 20:11 Kenoh because they are important
- 20:11 Kenoh and people believe in them
- 20:11 Greyheart Yeah, I have. Could put that system in place: if enough of Reality believes in them, they don't die.
- 20:11 Kenoh and care about them
- 20:11 Kenoh Jack in fact made movies about his life
- 20:11 Kenoh and made them the most popular movies in the world
- 20:11 Kenoh so EVERYONE would believe in him
- 20:11 Kenoh and he would never be able to be killed
- 20:12 Greyheart Like FUCKING GOLDILOCKS. I didn't read past the comic where she tried to kill Snow and...argh, what's his name. The Big Bad Wolf.
- 20:12 Kenoh yeah
- 20:12 Kenoh Bigby
- 20:12 Greyheart There we go. But yeah: fuck Fables' Goldilocks.
- 20:12 Kenoh they hook up eventually
- 20:12 Greyheart Snow and Bigby? I kind of figured that would happen.
- 20:12 Kenoh yeah
- 20:13 Kenoh I think Shippers should be a Sub Division of Mary Sues who try to find people from different universes that should "totally hook up"
- 20:13 Kenoh also, most Mary sues should be like Tetsuo from Akira
- 20:13 Kenoh barely in control anymore
- 20:14 Kenoh some might have a pretty good grasp of what they are doing, but most are just getting fucking out of control
- 20:14 Greyheart If you're describing them like that, then Shippers are more like Fixers.
- 20:14 Kenoh Shippers (the smugglers) should be called something else
- 20:14 Kenoh if you're going to make a setting about fiction and fanfiction
- 20:14 Kenoh using the term Shipper already has a definition
- 20:15 Kenoh what about Vendors?
- 20:15 FiremanPrime We've switched to 'Distributor'.
- 20:15 Kenoh ah ok then
- 20:15 Gentlemanvaultboy Distributors?
- 20:15 Greyheart I like that.
- 20:16 Gentlemanvaultboy Shipper are fixers who just want to see a character find true love
- 20:16 Gentlemanvaultboy regardless of their protests
- 20:16 Kenoh I can forsee some sort of Holy Knight style order of Fixer/Shippers
- 20:16 Kenoh whotake on their job with a Templar Esque zeal

- 20:18 Greyheart Yes, welcome 57.
- 20:18 Agent57 Shipping? Thats like the attraction between characters that isn't canon right? Thought I read that in the first thread but I'm not sure...
- 20:19 FiremanPrime Yes indeed. Welcome Agent57.
- 20:19 Greyheart Yes, quite. We were just discussing the terminology and that particularly came up.
- 20:19 Gentlemanvaultboy Yes, shipping is when people want to characters to get together in defiance of canon
- 20:19 Agent57 Alright cool. What have we established about it so far?
- 20:19 FiremanPrime Also, the new thread is in the sup/tg/ archive for up-voting.
- 20:19 Gentlemanvaultboy were trying to find some way to implement tham just now
- 20:19 Kenoh The line between Editor and fixer would be incredibly thin
- 20:19 Kenoh at times
- 20:20 FiremanPrime Well, here are my notes from yesterday: http://pastebin.com/6Sm1rK4m
- 20:20 Gentlemanvaultboy Not really
- 20:20 FiremanPrime I'll update them tomorrow once I get everything we work on today written down.
- 20:20 Gentlemanvaultboy Editor fix things that are wrong with canon
- 20:20 Kenoh is the definition of Canon objective then?
- 20:21 Greyheart Canon is defined by the Creators and the Believers: if it's not Canon to them, the Editors know.
- 20:21 Greyheart At least, that's how it seems to me.
- 20:21 Gentlemanvaultboy No, Canon is whatever was put down by the author
- 20:21 FiremanPrime Yes: A set fictional universe, with branches of EU, Fanon, and continuation.
- 20:21 Kenoh authors change
- 20:21 Kenoh and some works have primacy over others
- 20:21 Kenoh people wrote Oz books after Baum died
- 20:22 Greyheart True enough. The multiverse is always in flux.
- 20:22 Kenoh do Baum's OZ books have primacy over other authors?
- 20:22 Greyheart I would say the movie has primacy now.
- 20:22 Kenoh is the movie Oz a ifferent universe than the books?
- 20:22 Gentlemanvaultboy Yes
- 20:23 Agent57 I would assume that adaptations into different media would create separate realities. If nothing more than to avoid confusion.20:23 Kenoh Hypertime then
- 20:23 Greyheart "Todd, where are you going?" "To Oz! ...wow, that was much less climactic than I thought."
- 20:23 Greyheart "That's not the Oz we're going to." "What?"
- 20:23 Greyheart "We're going to Film-verse Oz, not Lit-verse Oz." "Ohhh, my bad."
- 20:23 Kenoh if what happens in a work contradicts the continuity, its a different universe with a similar continuity except for what happened here
- 20:24 Lillifag Are the Editors aware that they are fictional?
- 20:24 Agent57 Fictional is a relative term in this setting.
- 20:24 Greyheart Oh, don't even get that metaphysical debate started again. It'll only make your head hurt.
- 20:24 Kenoh what about Fictitious universes that know about other fictitious universes?
- 20:24 FiremanPrime No: They are unaware of their created nature, and all the universes they meet that we'd call 'fictional' are as real as can be to them.
- 20:24 Kenoh like oz the Television show
- 20:24 Kenoh the prison show
- 20:25 Greyheart That's totally seperate from the Land of Oz universes, connected only by an exceedingly thin tether.
- 20:25 FiremanPrime As they cannot travel through the multiverse, they wouldn't be in a position to do much about the knowledge. Of course, if they ever captured a team of Editors, the interrogation would be quite intense...
- 20:25 Kenoh also , I'd put Adebeci on my all time superstar universe team
- 20:26 Kenoh but for instance
- 20:26 Kenoh I'm watching Glee at the moment
- 20:26 Kenoh which is MOSTLY the same as a real world, with more fancy singing and dancing
- 20:26 Kenoh the kids on glee, know most of the fictional worlds I know about, or at least know OF them
- 20:27 Gentlemanvaultboy I don't think we discussed that canon characters can be just as much a threat to editor teams as sues
- 20:27 Kenoh and all the fictional universes they know about, are in fact universes unto themselves
- 20:27 Greyheart I think I just thought up a humorous name for Editor HQ.
- 20:27 FiremanPrime Let's hear it.
- 20:27 Gentlemanvaultboy Well, hit us with it
- 20:27 Greyheart Crossingard.
- 20:27 Agent57 ...
- 20:28 Gentlemanvaultboy Thats....
- 20:28 Lillifag ...
- 20:28 Gentlemanvaultboy Brilliant
- 20:28 Greyheart I know, punny as hell. But I figured it'd be a junior agent's first day joke.
- 20:28 Gentlemanvaultboy How many nicknames dose the place have?
- 20:29 FiremanPrime I LIKE IT. GREYHEART, I LIKE IT.
- 20:29 Greyheart Probably as many as the number of agents that have served there.
- 20:29 Greyheart Also: THANK YOU FIREMANPRIME.
- 20:29 Kenoh BOLD TYPING ! YEAH
- 20:29 FiremanPrime >dramatica_capslockia.jpg
- 20:30 Kenoh I figure the HQ wouldh ave many factions that work together, but each have their own outlook on doing things
- 20:30 FiremanPrime We have now found our Most Wanted list. http://fuckyeahterribleocs.tumblr.com/
- 20:30 Kenoh like a police station
- 20:30 Kenoh you'd have the down and dirty sort of beat cops
- 20:30 Kenoh and then the guys who are mostly desk guys
- 20:30 FiremanPrime Exactly. Thus, teams can be made of Player Characters who play all sorts of different personalities and Editors.
- 20:31 Kenoh "Alright ,I'm Fixing this god damn canon one way or the other"
- 20:31 Kenoh "but sir, that's terribly against protocol!"
- 20:32 FiremanPrime "If you go Rogue, I will end you, right here, right now, Commander!"
- 20:32 Kenoh why are editors powerful? is it simply because there are a lot of them working together?
- 20:32 FiremanPrime Strength in numbers, awareness of situation/canon knowledge, and Fuck Yeah Metahumanity working on concert.
- 20:32 Kenoh because it feels like they should lose every damn fight if they aren't willing to go get guns from more combat oriented universes
- 20:33 Gentlemanvaultboy It's because they know whats going on
- 20:33 Kenoh so basically Fixers, Firemen, Marysues etc. are all going against the grain
- 20:33 Gentlemanvaultboy Sue's are stupid
- 20:33 Kenoh the Metaverse doesn't want them to win
- 20:33 Kenoh because it just shits all over everything
- 20:33 Gentlemanvaultboy They know fiction and how to use it against a sur
- 20:34 Greyheart "Well, we could always just delete the whole damned mess. Much easier, in my opinion." -The Cynic, Editor 34765 of the Fourth Generation.
- 20:34 Greyheart Thoughts on opinions like this?
- 20:35 Kenoh in the hebrew tradition
- 20:35 Kenoh there is the bible
- 20:35 Kenoh and the talmud
- 20:35 Gentlemanvaultboy The Editors come out ahead because their the underdog heros who stick to their morals.
- 20:35 Kenoh the Talmud is commentaries on the bible, opinions and so on
- 20:35 Kenoh I feel like the editors would have a similar situation
- 20:35 Kenoh where you would have a set of rules
- 20:35 Kenoh and then people who react and commment on those rules
- 20:36 Kenoh and people who were considered really on the ball, would have their opinions recorded for all time
- 20:36 Gentlemanvaultboy In some sort of Editorial?
- 20:36 Lillifag "The Canon can't be destroyed, really. It can be broken beyond repair, corrupted beyond recognition, but it's still there, and we WILL fix it." - Hopeful, Editor 28783 of the Fourth Generation.
- 20:37 Greyheart I just realized something: the Multiverse is so insanely enormous, even if you're just thinking about Large Canons like Star Wars and things...how many agents ARE there?
- 20:37 Kenoh I think you would probably want to cap the amoutn of agents at a strict number
- 20:37 Kenoh like they do with Green Lanterns
- 20:37 Kenoh and basically when one dies
- 20:37 Kenoh you pull another up from the pool of potential candidates
- 20:37 FiremanPrime Plenty. Humans can't really grasp just how many of us are on Earth. You can't possibly meet them all. Hence, there are a near-infinite number of MetaHumans to fill the ranks.
- 20:38 Gentlemanvaultboy "The difference between us and them is that we have faith, faith that the author knows what they're doing." -Faithful, Editor 345 of the Third Generation.
- 20:39 Kenoh has anyone ever seen Justice League - Crisis on Two Earths?
- 20:39 Greyheart Argh, now I feel like I need to figure out WHY there is a double digit jump between Third and Fourth Generation.
- 20:39 Greyheart Wait! I HAVE IT! It was....
- 20:40 Greyheart THE INTERNET.
- 20:40 Greyheart ...And now I feel like a dumbass. Please excuse my grandstanding.
- 20:40 Gentlemanvaultboy Thats the explanation I settled on
- 20:40 Gentlemanvaultboy The Internet is the cause of this whole mess
- 20:41 Kenoh well the Internet Did essentially create fan fiction
- 20:41 Kenoh ... the Internet is the cause of all of life's problems really
- 20:41 Gentlemanvaultboy Popularized fan fiction
- 20:41 Greyheart Nah, fanfics have existed for as long as fantasies have. The internet just made it a whole lot easier.
- 20:41 Gentlemanvaultboy Everyone can write it now and has a safe place to post it
- 20:41 Kenoh but seriously, everyone needs to watch Justice League - Crisis on two Earths
- 20:42 Kenoh I feel Owlman is the perfect example of a Fireman
- 20:42 Gentlemanvaultboy "I'm making the only choice that matters."
- 20:42 Kenoh run amok
- 20:42 Kenoh exactly
- 20:42 Kenoh Ex Fucking Zactly
- 20:43 Kenoh Here's a mind blower though - Lupin the THird is in a way, a fanfic of the Arsene Lupin novels
- 20:43 Gentlemanvaultboy Some firemen would be like that
- 20:43 Kenoh that becomes his own universe eventually
- 20:43 Greyheart Okay so: First Generation was the guardians of...primordial knowledge? The first stories?
- 20:43 FiremanPrime First Gen: Guardian of Myth and Primordial Knowledge.
- 20:44 Gentlemanvaultboy Since real people believed in magic, magic Existed on meta earth
- 20:44 Greyheart Okay. Second Gen: Guardians of the First Epics and Legends.
- 20:45 FiremanPrime Third Gen: Guardians of Literature and Written History (perhaps)
- 20:45 Gentlemanvaultboy Not history, historys non-fiction
- 20:45 Agent57 History doesn't count
- 20:45 Greyheart Fourth Gen: The Guardians against Crossover's Return, the Keepers of Canon.
- 20:45 FiremanPrime Okay. Third Gen: Guardians of Literature and Narrative.
- 20:46 Agent57 Unless you want to get back in that "Our reality was written by an author in another reality" argument again.
- 20:46 Gentlemanvaultboy and we're not
- 20:46 Greyheart That's for players to argue.
- 20:46 Gentlemanvaultboy my head still hurts from conceiving that
- 20:47 Greyheart It's more convoluted than Inception.
- 20:47 Kenoh I thought it was Turtles all the way down
- 20:47 Greyheart Ah, Discworld reference?
- 20:47 FiremanPrime It's Enoby Darkness Dementia Raven Way all the way down.
- 20:47 Lillifag Inception actually makes sense when you look at it hard enough
- 20:47 Kenoh well
- 20:47 Greyheart EH? O.o
- 20:47 Kenoh Discworld STole that
- 20:47 Lillifag And it's only turtles at the bottom, isn't it?
- 20:47 Kenoh it was an old story about an astronomer that went to a real rural place
- 20:48 Kenoh and tried to explain the solar system, how it worked, and so on
- 20:48 Gentlemanvaultboy nope, all turtles
- 20:48 Kenoh and one person was like "no, the Earth is balanced on the back of a turtle"
- 20:48 Kenoh and the astronomer goes " well, what does the turtle stand on?"
- 20:48 Kenoh and the woman replies" very clever, but its turtles all the way down!"
- 20:48 Gentlemanvaultboy except in our case, the turtles are authors
- 20:49 Greyheart Hmm, quite. But that's metaphysical debate that we shouldn't worry about.
- 20:49 Kenoh everything could be lik the big bang
- 20:49 Kenoh you have a bang
- 20:49 Kenoh then things condense
- 20:49 Kenoh then another, Bigger bang
- 20:49 Kenoh each time
- 20:50 FiremanPrime As a related note, once I refine the collected notes, we should think about if/how we're going to run an IRC game for /tg/.
- 20:50 Greyheart Or like multi-mirror reflections.
- 20:50 Kenoh everything from each time feeds into itself
- 20:50 Kenoh you could even say
- 20:50 Agent57 The interest seems pretty big, we might need multiple groups.
- 20:50 Kenoh that the big bangs respond to big classical eras in literature
- 20:51 Agent57 And thus, multiple GMs fluent in serveral canons...
- 20:51 Greyheart Blargh, metaphysical debate!
- 20:51 FiremanPrime I could GM a group. I know a few canons pretty well.
- 20:51 Kenoh like Victorian Literature Draws back to SHakespeare, but at the same time is it's own style
- 20:51 FiremanPrime AND I have the MASTER NOTES (zelda item theme).
- 20:51 Greyheart I wouldn't mind participating, Fireman!
- 20:51 Kenoh It seems like you could run an insane amount of games with this setting, and make them all pretty different
- 20:51 Gentlemanvaultboy What Canon's are everyone here familiar with?
- 20:51 Lillifag I'm in
- 20:52 Gentlemanvaultboy I'm Know One Piece and Mass Effect
- 20:52 FiremanPrime Let's see... Just what level of familiarity will be necessary will vary on the adventure length / type.
- 20:52 Greyheart Oh gods, I don't know how long my list would be.
- 20:52 Kenoh yeah pretty much
- 20:52 Kenoh a lot of settings
- 20:52 Kenoh besides I don't know how deep any adventure would go into any specific setting
- 20:52 Kenoh it's hard to run a campaign that doesn't end up in world hopping
- 20:53 FiremanPrime I know I've got a few (Soul Calibur, Halo, Mass Effect, Artemis Fowl, I could go on).
- 20:53 Lillifag my list would probably get me kick out of that chat for taking up the whole window if done in list form
- 20:53 Kenoh GUndam
- 20:53 Kenoh but yeah
- 20:53 Agent57 I'm familiar with the N64 Zeldas, The Hunger Games (teen novel, I know), and a smattering of Kingdom Hearts
- 20:53 Gentlemanvaultboy Oh, I also know Jade Empire
- 20:53 Kenoh I've read a lot of stuff, I'm pretty sure we all have
- 20:54 Gentlemanvaultboy Rule of Rose
- 20:54 Greyheart Star Wars; Stargate; Pokemon; Digimon (Up through the third series); Halo; Mass Effect; Psychonauts; Assassin's Creed; Persona; Tremors; Firefly; Final Fantasy; Zelda; Advance Wars...
- 20:54 Greyheart I'm just pulling off of all the media in my room.
- 20:54 Gentlemanvaultboy Archer
- 20:54 FiremanPrime >Advance Wars< Please tell me you know enough of Days of Ruin to make this happen.
- 20:54 Kenoh I really want to run a Maus campaign
- 20:54 Kenoh that was an awesome fictional setting
- 20:54 Greyheart Er...I don't even have that. Sorry.
- 20:54 Gentlemanvaultboy Frisky Dingo
- 20:55 Agent57 Players shouldn't need to know much about a setting to play, right?
- 20:55 FiremanPrime Greyheart, your homework is to 1) Get it, 2) Get an emulator ROM of it and love it.
- 20:55 Gentlemanvaultboy Nier and Drakenguard
- 20:55 Kenoh players having little knowledge of the setting would either make it awesome or fail
- 20:55 Greyheart Er....okay.
- 20:55 Kenoh depending on fate
- 20:55 FiremanPrime Agent57: I guess, but if the players decide to play it slow-and-steady, you might need to have some knowledge.
- 20:55 Gentlemanvaultboy Crono Trigger
- 20:55 FiremanPrime Gentleman: NieR = God-tier sue-fighting territory.
- 20:56 Kenoh STREET FIGHTER
- 20:56 Lillifag the Editors Agency would probably give a primer on the setting to the agents
- 20:56 Gentlemanvaultboy Provided by that setting proofreader
- 20:56 Agent57 Yeah I was thinking that their could be a Proofreader GMPC in most situations.
- 20:56 Agent57 Following the team and giving info when needed or asked
- 20:56 Agent57 there*
- 20:56 Kenoh bureau Chiefs
- 20:57 FiremanPrime Makes sense.
- 20:57 Kenoh "Look I'm the First Person Shooter Bureau Chief, I don't want you kids screwin around"
- 20:57 Kenoh he says as he chomps his cigar angrily
- 20:57 FiremanPrime I have a -fuckton- of notes to prep for tomorrow's thread at this rate. *sigh* The price of greatness.
- 20:57 Kenoh that or the first person shooter bureau chief is a 15 year old kid with acne who calls everyone faggot
- 20:57 Kenoh loudly over his mic
- 20:58 Gentlemanvaultboy Oh god, think of the war movie chife
- 20:58 Greyheart brb
- 20:58 Lillifag "HEY, -FAGGOT- 48272!
- 20:58 FiremanPrime I want to see /k/, /v/, /tg/, and /a/ personified and sent out to do Editing missions.
- 20:59 Gentlemanvaultboy Hold on, i have something for this
- 20:59 Kenoh the Anime Bureau would have to have sub bureaus
- 20:59 Kenoh but the overall Anime Bureau Chief is a really bland guy
- 20:59 Kenoh because the previous chief went insane on loli and fetish porn
- 20:59 Kenoh and went rogue
- 20:59 Agent57 Alright, what about playing as something from a reality far different from Earth? Like an Ork Boy that was supposed to be killed but was recruited by the agency?
- 20:59 Kenoh so they found the most calm bland guy they could to fill the job
- 21:00 Gentlemanvaultboy Once you survive my training, then and only then will you become a weapon! Until that time you lowly maggots are nothing but a bunch of cocksuckers! I despise and look down upon you. Let's make one thing clear: my job is to find the limp dicks among you and weed them out! I won't have a stinking pussy on our team keeping us from victory! There will be no laug
- 21:00 Kenoh TF2 Soldier
- 21:00 Kenoh I'm playing as the TF2 soldier
- 21:00 Kenoh Maggots
- 21:00 Gentlemanvaultboy There will be no laughing or crying. You are NOT human beings! You are KILLING MACHINES! If you couldn't kill, your lives will become worthless! You fuckers would be better off in a corner jacking off your meat! You want to lose just to stand out? Pretend it hurts to gain some sympathy?! You are pathetic loser scum! The best part of you ran down on the crack
- 21:00 Gentlemanvaultboy crack of your mother's ass and ended up as a cumstain on the mattress! Quit draggin' your feet, you fuckers! If you whimper, I will unscrew your head and shit down on your neck! That ball is your only girlfriend!
- 21:01 Gentlemanvaultboy You don't need a Mary Jane with boobs and a large backside! Think of it as a wet pussy and fuck her as hard as you can!
- 21:01 Gentlemanvaultboy At the company softball game
- 21:01 Lillifag I call the tf2 Engineer
- 21:02 FiremanPrime I'm playing as GREEN DemoMan, who has been 'corrected' and sent out as a living weapon. http://tf2wiki.net/w/images/1/17/Demoman_gibberish12.wav
- 21:02 Kenoh The legendary Lost Green Legion
- 21:02 Kenoh after Team Fortress Classic they went Missing
- 21:02 Kenoh "WE Fought in wars you pansies guarding points could only imagine!"
- 21:02 FiremanPrime "We can rebuild them. We have the processing power." RESULT: http://tf2wiki.net/w/images/7/7c/Demoman_gibberish13.wav
- 21:05 Kenoh I figured you'd Run the Green Legion against like the most crazy
- 21:05 Kenoh you gotta fight crazy with crazy
- 21:05 Gentlemanvaultboy Let them out on targets you won't feel bad about
- 21:06 Gentlemanvaultboy Hey, what is "Past Sins?"
- 21:06 FiremanPrime When in doubt, send in Vidya Mooks.
- 21:06 Kenoh a my littel pony fanfic
- 21:06 Kenoh of dubious quality
- 21:06 FiremanPrime Gentlemanvaultboy: The worst MLP fanfic ever.
- 21:06 FiremanPrime EVER>
- 21:06 Gentlemanvaultboy Worse that Cupcakes ?
- 21:06 Kenoh "Damn, Enoby has escaped lock down... get me the Green Legion"
- 21:07 FiremanPrime Way worse. At least Cupcakes knew what it was (a terrible gore-fic). Past Sins tries and FAILS FAILS FAILS.
- 21:07 Gentlemanvaultboy "We want her back alive, shes useful for training."
- 21:07 Kenoh "no Promises..."
- 21:07 Kenoh once you call out the green legion
- 21:07 Kenoh all bets are off
- 21:08 Agent57 Just saw a Powerpuff Girls sue and it reminded me that I'm familiar with that canon, sadly enough.
- 21:08 Kenoh [you bring them out when shits gone to pot
- 21:08 Gentlemanvaultboy Like Muzzle in Road Rovers
- 21:08 Agent57 How don't know how you'd take that shit down though.
- 21:08 FiremanPrime "Sir, I think we've got an issue. Enoby got to the kitchen deck-" *press intercom* http://www.tf2wiki.net/w/images/5/51/Heavy_autoonfire05_Ahh_ahh%2C_FIRE%21_FIRE%21.wav
- 21:08 Greyheart Aww...my KISS THE PRETTY BOY line has been reabsorbed.
- 21:08 FiremanPrime I'm going to stop link spamming naow.
- 21:08 FiremanPrime Don't worry. I saved it.
- 21:09 Greyheart YAY!
- 21:09 Kenoh I'm gonna go play some Xbox
- 21:09 Greyheart So, what did I miss?
- 21:09 Kenoh seeya lata
- 21:09 FiremanPrime Adios, Kenoh.
- 21:09 Greyheart Bye, Kenoh.
- 21:09 *** Kenoh quit (Quit: http://www.mibbit.com ajax IRC Client)
- 21:09 FiremanPrime Greyheart: Talking about Green Legion (the anti-Sue field army used only when all else fails).
- 21:09 Greyheart I like it.
- 21:10 Agent57 Essentially made up of vidya mooks, as I understand it.
- 21:10 Gentlemanvaultboy I also made an impassioned speech
- 21:10 FiremanPrime Indeed. Also saved Gentleman's speech.
- 21:10 Greyheart Okay, reading time.
- 21:10 Gentlemanvaultboy Not really mine. It was from an episode of Full Metal Panic.
- 21:11 Lillifag "Green Legion. The last option. Send them in and there's something left to fix."
- 21:12 Lillifag "But they'll destroy it all!"
- 21:12 Agent57 "Sir, the Dragonball Z-verse is being overrun! It seems the sues are all converging on Cell's Tournament!" "Mother of God. Send in the Green Team. Maybe they can buy us some time."
- 21:12 Gentlemanvaultboy DBZ Has a great in canon way of dealing with sues
- 21:13 Gentlemanvaultboy The Destructo Disk
- 21:13 Gentlemanvaultboy Also solar flair
- 21:13 Gentlemanvaultboy A Can't imagine a Sue using
- 21:14 Lillifag "Hope they leave something we can recognize as the original behind. The Greens will get rid of the Sues fine, as well as a good amount of the universe they're in."
- 21:14 Gentlemanvaultboy it but it's the single most effective attack in that entire setting
- 21:14 Agent57 Yeah I don't know much about it, to be honest. Still pretty awesome though.
- 21:15 Gentlemanvaultboy All it dose is blind you
- 21:15 Gentlemanvaultboy But it doesn't matter who it was used on
- 21:15 Gentlemanvaultboy it always hit
- 21:16 Gentlemanvaultboy Even the big bad planet destroying guys.
- 21:17 Agent57 Nice, that might work.
- 21:17 Greyheart Indeed.
- 21:17 Agent57 I always liked the idea that sues can't influence what they can't percieve.
- 21:18 Agent57 Thus making a stealthy or bait-and-switch type of assassination the most effective
- 21:18 Agent57 But could an Editor use his limited power to make himself strong enough to take out a sue head-on?
- 21:18 Lillifag Power is corrupting.
- 21:19 Gentlemanvaultboy Should I post a link to that SCP story on how to deal with reality warpers?
- 21:19 Lillifag He would become the very thing he fights.
- 21:19 Agent57 Yeah, I read that Gentleman
- 21:19 Greyheart Fireman, your opinion on Editors taking on Sues personally?
- 21:19 Agent57 Agreed Lilli. What would you do if a player attempted that, though?
- 21:20 Gentlemanvaultboy You should never fight a sue head on
- 21:20 Gentlemanvaultboy it's always suicide
- 21:20 Gentlemanvaultboy Here, anyone who hasn't read this, do so now:http://www.scp-wiki.net/termination-order
- 21:21 Agent57 It's been established, though, that Editors have similar powers to sues. Namely the ability to influence the reality. Just what is the "hard limit" to this? Or does he just become a sue?
- 21:22 Gentlemanvaultboy The point is, sues are pure creations of wish fulfillment. It's not that they choose not to use full extent of sue power. They just can't.
- 21:23 Greyheart An Editor is someone who understands Canon to the point where they can use the underlying rules of a Canonized universe in order to fulfill their goals, without corrupting the universe, that is.
- 21:23 Greyheart At least, I'm fairly certain that's correct.
- 21:23 Agent57 That's very vague though, especially for a game system. Won't there be PC editors? Their powers need to be more defined to be perfectly honest.
- 21:24 FiremanPrime WOW. At this point, I see that we are going to have to end up writing a small corebook to hold all of this in sufficient detail.
- 21:25 FiremanPrime The players are Editors. I was understanding that they didn't really have any reality-warping powers: They simply had their brains and the knowledge of the canon ahead of time to help them.
- 21:25 Gentlemanvaultboy Editors should only have the power to, how to put this, induce reality.
- 21:25 FiremanPrime They're fairly mundane, but in extraordinary circumstances and with great knowledge.
- 21:25 Gentlemanvaultboy Well, the players are agents.
- 21:25 Greyheart I thought that we were talking about Editors, as in the head honchos.
- 21:25 Gentlemanvaultboy Theres a special class of them called Editor
- 21:26 FiremanPrime OH... I see. Yes, players are field agents (mundane), where-as more elite ones (Editors, etc.) have minor reality warping powers.
- 21:26 Gentlemanvaultboy and the organization is named after them
- 21:27 Greyheart I thought so?
- 21:27 Gentlemanvaultboy Also, some agents have powers that they picked up it in the world they defend.
- 21:27 Gentlemanvaultboy Stuff they can train in.
- 21:28 Gentlemanvaultboy Life flying from DBZ or Haki from One Piece
- 21:28 Gentlemanvaultboy Agents should be just a little extraordinary
- 21:28 Gentlemanvaultboy Because they do extraordinary work.
- 21:29 Gentlemanvaultboy If Risus is the system we use, I think it could accommodate this.
- 21:30 Agent57 Alright I understand a little better.
- 21:30 Agent57 There has been some talk of Editors becoming sues. Possible?
- 21:30 Lillifag Perhaps.
- 21:30 Gentlemanvaultboy If they follow the Editors Creed, not likely.
- 21:31 Lillifag Proofreaders can become Fixers, as logic would dictate.
- 21:31 Gentlemanvaultboy If they go rouge, well...
- 21:31 Agent57 This is from the thread
- 21:31 Agent57 Guys Guys... What about.... An Editor-Sue.
- 21:31 Gentlemanvaultboy They could become the Devil.
- 21:31 Agent57 Fixer Sues. Rogue Editors who have decided to improve a canon by becoming it's self-aware centerpiece. Some of the deadliest foes an Editor can face.
- 21:31 Greyheart Sounds reasonable.
- 21:32 Gentlemanvaultboy They can think
- 21:32 Agent57 Good idea for a big bad at least.
- 21:32 Gentlemanvaultboy theu know what to look for
- 21:32 Gentlemanvaultboy and they Know where coming for them.
- 21:32 Gentlemanvaultboy Horrific enemies.
- 21:32 Lillifag They probably have the supplies needed to fight back against the party
- 21:33 Agent57 That might be a good instance for the Green Legion to show up.
- 21:33 Agent57 IF the Green Legion actually makes it into the system.
- 21:33 Gentlemanvaultboy Unlike normal Mary sues, they can conciously warp fiction.
- 21:33 Greyheart Very possibly. The Editors fix their own messes.
- 21:34 Gentlemanvaultboy I can't think of any countermeasure against an Editor Sue
- 21:35 FiremanPrime You -might- think of something after a while, but the Xanatos Chess would be almost impossible to win.
- 21:35 Greyheart Xanatos Chess?
- 21:35 Gentlemanvaultboy Plans within plans
- 21:35 FiremanPrime I think this would explain: http://tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pmwiki.php/Main/GambitPileup?from=Main.ThirtyGambitPileup
- 21:36 Agent57 Perhaps dealing with smugglers to get sue tech and take down the Editor Sue?
- 21:36 Greyheart Am reading now.
- 21:36 Gentlemanvaultboy Even that story I posted wouldn't help.
- 21:36 Gentlemanvaultboy Clef would never have killed that kid if he had known what was coming.
- 21:37 Greyheart Blargh. I would think the only way to stop an Editor Sue is with an actual Sue.
- 21:38 FiremanPrime Example of why you should leave Editor Sues to deal with Green Legion and a few Sues rather than by thinking:
- 21:38 Gentlemanvaultboy The editor would still win, because it knows it could control it's powers.
- 21:38 Agent57 that image isn't working for me :|
- 21:38 Greyheart Me either.
- 21:38 FiremanPrime *hoark* http://tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pmwiki.php/Main/XanatosGambit
- 21:39 Gentlemanvaultboy I think the only way would be to collapse the canon with it inside.
- 21:40 Greyheart No, there must be another way...er, I think I just thought of something a little...extreme.
- 21:41 Agent57 Shoot
- 21:41 Greyheart Kill-switch devices placed on every editor.
- 21:41 Agent57 Huh. Pretty grimdark but it could make sense.
- 21:41 Greyheart Something that will completely annihilate them, but nothing else.
- 21:41 FiremanPrime Possibly planted only after they begin showing signs of going Rogue, but not before. Don't want to spook the recruits.
- 21:41 Gentlemanvaultboy One designed to open a plot hole and wipe them from existence.
- 21:42 Greyheart I'm not saying for all the Agents, just THE Editors. People that powerful need failsafes.
- 21:42 Agent57 This would also explain why Fixers tend to be just mundane agents instead of powerful editors.
- 21:42 Gentlemanvaultboy Oh, the people who learned to warp reality get kill switched
- 21:42 Greyheart Indeed.
- 21:42 FiremanPrime True, true... Makes sense. Much sense. Something to definitely make you reconsider learning how to be a god.
- 21:43 Gentlemanvaultboy That seems like a nice way to explane why all agents aren't just editors.
- 21:43 Agent57 They don't want to be kill-switched
- 21:44 Greyheart "We are the archivists, the wise ones, and the keepers of canon. We know more about these worlds than you might even think there is. But for our gifts...we have paid a hefty price."
- 21:44 FiremanPrime Brilliant: http://elffetish.com/instasue.html
- 21:45 Gentlemanvaultboy I like the idea that whenever one goes mad with power, his kill switch is activated and he's sucked into a plothole
- 21:45 Gentlemanvaultboy and the everyone forgets him
- 21:46 Gentlemanvaultboy So they have no idea how many times the option has been used
- 21:46 FiremanPrime ...Oh lord. NOW we know why being an Editor is such a weighty responsibility: The moment you inevitably fail your duty, you are made to have never been. Terrifying, honestly.
- 21:47 Agent57 Huh good idea Gentlemanvaultbow
- 21:47 Greyheart Unfortunately, I know that Unbeing can be...temporary.
- 21:48 FiremanPrime ...Goodness gracious mother of God.
- 21:50 Agent57 "You don't remember me? Of course not...the killswitch does that. We were friends once."
- 21:50 Lillifag "To take me out, you'll have to kill this whole, precious canon with it! There's no way you'll destroy all of S-" -Last word of 35267 (Title unknown), Rouge Editor of the Fourth Generation, seconds before plothole device deployment.
- 21:50 FiremanPrime *applause* Gentleman, we now have our potential heart-breaking moment machine.
- 21:51 Gentlemanvaultboy What should they be called
- 21:51 FiremanPrime I know: micro-writing is my favorite kind.
- 21:51 Lillifag Something simple, like Logs
- 21:52 Gentlemanvaultboy I Suggested Editorials earlier
- 21:52 FiremanPrime Editorials / Logs / Epilogues
- 21:52 FiremanPrime All work.
- 21:52 Greyheart "You know you can't destroy me, Anna. If you do, you won't exist." "Yes, father...I know. But there's something you forgot." "Oh? And what might that be?" "I have mom."
- 21:54 Greyheart -The Last Conversation of The Avenger, Anna, and her Father, the [NEVERWAS] 802 of the Third Generation.
- 21:54 Gentlemanvaultboy Because Canon tries to Fix Itself
- 21:54 Greyheart True, but Meta Earth isn't part of Canon, now is it.
- 21:55 Agent57 Essentially the Rogue Editor is deleted along with any memory of him. All references to him in the records are stricken.
- 21:55 FiremanPrime >heresy_joke?.jpg
- 21:55 Gentlemanvaultboy Except the Editorials
- 21:56 Greyheart Perhaps the Deletion Measures were used first because the first Editor Sue made them over react.
- 21:57 FiremanPrime I'd be pretty fucking scared of an Editor Sue, especially after the Great Crossover War took a giant dump on MetaEarth that almost wiped it out.
- 21:57 Gentlemanvaultboy "We gave you every chance. If you cannot learn, then you will teach!- Judgement, Editor 5467 before the activation of the first kill switch.
- 21:58 Lillifag Getting rid of an Editor-Sue would take more than the means that Editors would even have, besides the killswitch
- 21:59 FiremanPrime Gentlemanvaultboy that is a fantastically, professionally bad-ass line. *standing ovation*
- 21:59 Gentlemanvaultboy I got it from a story about a paladin of Kord.
- 22:00 Gentlemanvaultboy He pissed off his god three times by doing non riotous things, and in the end Kord changed him into a training dummy with THAT scrawled on the base.
- 22:02 Lillifag "You've disabled your killswitch, gone into the highest-corruption world we know of, and then you became THE Sue, outdoing every other one of the damn things in that world. Good job forgetting about the second killswitch, though." -End, Editor 13 of Generation Four, to Editor 666 (Title unknown) of the Fourth Generation.
- 22:03 Gentlemanvaultboy I like the titles. Dose ever agent have one, like a codename, or do you have to earn them?
- 22:04 Greyheart I would say earn them.
- 22:05 Agent57 Only Editors and Proofreaders get them.
- 22:05 Agent57 Maybe the occasional, exceptional agent.
- 22:07 Greyheart What have we got so far? The One of Grey, the Faithful, the Cynic, the End, the Avenger, the Judgement.
- 22:07 Greyheart Is that it?
- 22:08 Lillifag There'd presumably be more, but they'd be rare
- 22:09 Lillifag Agents would respect their Titled brothers
- 22:11 Gentlemanvaultboy So only editors, Proofreaders, and exceptional agents get them. Why?
- 22:11 Agent57 Alright, so I've seen a little bit of discussion about sues that explicitly state their invincibility. I like the idea of throwing the sue into a different, incredibly hostile canon (lookin at you WH40K), but are there different methods of dealing with these invinci-sues?
- 22:11 Lillifag There's a fuckload of agents and only so many titles
- 22:11 Agent57 Oh sorry to try to change the subject
- 22:12 Agent57 Well, the titles are on the official documents.
- 22:12 Gentlemanvaultboy No Sue is invincible.
- 22:12 Agent57 They're not like nicknames. They are probably sanctioned by the higher-ups.
- 22:12 Lillifag and being invincible won't help when you're trapped in the space between galaxies
- 22:12 Gentlemanvaultboy and they would corrupt any canon they were introduced to.
- 22:13 Gentlemanvaultboy The only thing that keeps most Sues alive is that competence dampening field they produce.
- 22:13 Greyheart Unless they can teleport universally.
- 22:14 Agent57 Yeah it would seem like a lot of sue powers like that haven't really been accounted for.
- 22:14 Gentlemanvaultboy But they can't. When a sue is born in a world, that's where they stay unless a crossover occurs.
- 22:14 Agent57 And what's the explanation behind the "no invicibility" thing? Is it just that it doesn't work for sake of ease or....?
- 22:15 Agent57 Oh right, sues can't affect realities beyond the one they were created from.
- 22:15 Agent57 Makes sense.
- 22:16 Lillifag Stick them an a world entirely alien to them, and they'll lose their home-field advantage, and if their source of power is based in the setting they're from they'll lose all their shit
- 22:16 Gentlemanvaultboy When you read about a sue fic, usually it's shown that they can be hurt, they're just "Too Good" to get dealt a fatal blow.
- 22:18 Gentlemanvaultboy That wouldn't work. Sues are unconscious reality warpers. Place then in a new setting, and they'll still be better than everyone else.
- 22:18 Lillifag They still won't know shit about their world, though.
- 22:19 Gentlemanvaultboy In addition, they may try to make their new reality like he old one, Detabalizing the new world quicker than they did the old one
- 22:19 Agent57 Alright, in this one it says 'Weaknesses: N/A Herself' http://fuckyeahterribleocs.tumblr.com/post/6197694094/i-know-this-is-the-3rd-time-i-posted-this-but
- 22:19 Agent57 How do you kill this sue?
- 22:20 Lillifag of course, you WOULD have to send them to an isolated area to prevent anybody from noticing the vampire/werewolf/catgirl/goddess/princess/angel crossbreed getting killed by guys using strange shit
- 22:20 Greyheart Paradox?
- 22:20 Gentlemanvaultboy I'm still reading, hold on.
- 22:21 FiremanPrime She was/is a celestial guardian. Just point her at 40K and tell her there's a galaxy in danger. The hilarity will ensue just after we grab popcorn and a seat.
- 22:22 Lillifag Paradox is also a good plan
- 22:23 Agent57 What do you mean by Paradox?
- 22:23 Gentlemanvaultboy Shes a sue. She'd "Fix" 40k. No, I'm thinking we get one of the pretty boys, you know, those guys that work in Shojo, Dress him as axle, and have him slip her a micky while making out with her.
- 22:23 Greyheart I mean hit their brain with something they CANNOT fathom.
- 22:24 FiremanPrime *fix 40K* JESUS CHRIST ON A BICYCLE GET GREEN LEGION-
- 22:24 Greyheart And while they're bewildered, even for just one second, you could *maybe* take them down?
- 22:24 Gentlemanvaultboy THIS. STATEMENT. IS. FALSE.
- 22:25 Gentlemanvaultboy Then poison her while shes asleep
- 22:25 Greyheart Yep, pretty much.
- 22:25 FiremanPrime http://fuckyeahterribleocs.tumblr.com/post/6943418949/she-is-the-sole-owner-of-axel-of-kingdom-hearts Well, the fucker's a mile long, but only one ton. Lower her density (in another canon-space) and let her blow into the wind.
- 22:25 Gentlemanvaultboy After all, it says shes "Almost" invincible.
- 22:25 Agent57 So...just leave a lot of room for PC creativity? I like it.
- 22:25 Gentlemanvaultboy We'll put it to the test.
- 22:26 FiremanPrime Indeed. This is a talking/fluff-heavy game. Risus has almost no rolls or stats to muck around with. More room for madness and actionventure.
- 22:26 Lillifag "Fire up the PARADOX engine. That's our second-to-last resort. If we fail.... We have only one last choice." - End, Agent 13 of the Fourth Generation.
- 22:28 Gentlemanvaultboy "Hey Sue, your turning into a penguin. Keep doing that."- Smiley, Agent 47 of the Forth Generation, after activating an infinite improbability drive.
- 22:30 Greyheart I like Smiley.
- 22:30 Lillifag "I personally hope she keeps doing that. It's pretty neat to watch." -Hopeful
- 22:30 Gentlemanvaultboy What they don't tell you is that they were both sofas during that exchange.
- 22:31 Greyheart "Yeah, but what if she was a PINK penguin, right guys? Pink is SOOO in right now." -Artist, Agent 72 of the Fourth Generation
- 22:32 FiremanPrime "Pink or not, I really, REALLY would like to end this soon before this thing shorts out mid-probability!" -Thought, Agent 90 of the Fourth Generation
- 22:33 Lillifag "Just fucking -shoot- her already before she realizes she can turn back." -End, Agent 13 of the Fourth Generation.
- 22:34 FiremanPrime (sue-fighting music a-gogo:
- 22:35 Greyheart Especially fighting Anime Sues.
- 22:35 Gentlemanvaultboy "Good job, End. You really though that through".- Sardonic, 32 Editor of the forth generation, seconds after the Sue Changed Back.
- 22:35 Agent57 Looks like someone has made a quest thread about this. So far it looks like he's dropping us in the middle of the Crossover Wars. http://boards.4chan.org/tg/res/16534941#16534941
- 22:36 FiremanPrime "God DAMNIT I hate when they have background music." -Thought, Agent 90 of the Fourth Generation
- 22:36 Lillifag saw it
- 22:36 Lillifag we're gonna be fucked
- 22:38 Lillifag "Hey, the music's not as bad as the time they sent us into one of the worse Muse Planes." -Hopeful, Agent (NUMBER LOST) of the Fourth Generation.
- 22:39 FiremanPrime (As this is all logged, the Named Agents will now be actual NPCs. Good job, folks.)
- 22:39 Greyheart "Interesting...I can't move. I think we've been afflicted with a Turn-Based-Strategy Field." -Artist, Agent 72 of the Fourth Generation.
- 22:40 Agent57 I just imagined them In Final Fantasy Tactics thanks to Greyheart.
- 22:40 Agent57 And I gotta admit, that's pretty awesome.
- 22:41 FiremanPrime I would play Editor Tactics so hard my DS would break in half vertically after 90 hours straight.
- 22:41 Lillifag stop
- 22:41 Lillifag stop now before I get my wallet
- 22:41 Lillifag stop before I go broke
- 22:42 Greyheart Stop making me choke on laughter you BASTARDS.
- 22:43 FiremanPrime I keep throwing my debit card at the screen and nothing's happening. I deleted system32 and everything. What's going on?
- 22:43 Gentlemanvaultboy "Don't worry guys, I got this. Hit my Music" Smiley, Agent 47 of the Forth Generation, About to get down with his bad self.
- 22:43 Gentlemanvaultboy -Smiley, Agent 47 of the Forth Generation about to get down with his bad self.
- 22:44 Agent57 Doesn't work for me
- 22:44 Agent57 :C
- 22:44 Gentlemanvaultboy
- 22:44 Lillifag try popping it out
- 22:44 Gentlemanvaultboy it shoud now
- 22:45 Lillifag say
- 22:46 Greyheart Should we participate in the quest thread? To ensure it goes well?
- 22:46 Agent57 Yeah it works.
- 22:46 Agent57 I already am.
- 22:46 Gentlemanvaultboy I'm going to
- 22:46 Agent57 Or I would if my internet would work...
- 22:46 FiremanPrime I'm participating. Voted for Spike and Rookie. We're good.
- 22:46 Lillifag "Stop that music. We're not even -NEAR- a large rainbow. Why didn't you play that on the visit to Equestria, though?" -End, Agent 13 of the Fourth Generation.
- 22:47 FiremanPrime "Don't even talk about Equestria to me. It's one thing to have 'magic' explain everything, but to base it on -kindness-? I'm surprised that Planeswalker incursion didn't do them in, honestly." -Thought, Agent 90 of the Fourth Generation
- 22:49 Gentlemanvaultboy "Are you telling me you guys don't tell me you guy's don't like Pony Patrol?" -Smiley, Agent 47 of the Forth Generation, with a shit eating grim on his face.
- 22:50 FiremanPrime "I'm just saying that it could use a touch of grimdarkness. And don't give me that 'It's a cancer, it's a cancer' crap. Gotta build their immune system somehow." -Thought, Agent 90 of the Fourth Generation
- 22:52 Gentlemanvaultboy "How did all these end up in the Codex"-Sardonic, 32'nt Editor of the forth generation, head in her hands.
- 22:53 *** Agent57 quit (Quit: http://www.mibbit.com ajax IRC Client)
- 22:53 Greyheart "MLP is very colorful, but its cutesy visualization is just too much for me. I could barely walk, let alone run, and I still think I see that damned tattoo on my ass every other week." -Artist, Agent 72 of the Fourth Generation
- 22:54 Gentlemanvaultboy "Why? Cuz were bad-asses" -Smiley, Agent 47 of the Forth Generation, before having his arm broken by Sardonic.
- 22:54 FiremanPrime "See? See?!? That's what the Avatars'll do to you when they're cross-species as much as they were." -Thought, Agent 90 of the Fourth Generation, reflecting on some awful times fighting back a Demon's Souls Crossover
- 22:54 Lillifag "Stop complaining. It's not Twilight Tour or Sonic Watch, and they at least have cute musical numbers. Plus, the higher-ups just LOVE sending you to places you hate." -End, Agent 13 of the Fourth Generation.
- 22:55 *** Greyheart quit (Quit: http://www.mibbit.com ajax IRC Client)
- 22:55 FiremanPrime "I'm not complaining. I'm -rationalizing-." Thought, Agent 90 of the Fourth Generation.
- 22:57 Lillifag "RATIONALITY IS FOR -FAGGOTS-" -Lead First Person Shooter Director
- 22:57 Lillifag "Get out of here, this isn't even your division." -End, Agent 13 of the Fourth Generation.
- 22:57 *** Greyheart joined #theeditors
- 22:57 Greyheart Hello?
- 22:57 FiremanPrime 'Sup.
- 22:58 Greyheart Ugh, I got kicked for some reason.
- 22:58 Lillifag ...
- 22:58 Lillifag so that's where Agent went
- 22:58 Gentlemanvaultboy "Fuck it, I'm riding one. THAT one! I'm riding THAT pony"-Smiley, Agent 47 of the Forth Generation, before riding a pony.
- 22:58 FiremanPrime If we get an IRC game going, I'm guessing we might be playing our current 'characters' (Thought, End, Artist, etc.)?
- 22:59 Greyheart Sounds good to me. I'll either play Artist or Cynic.
- 23:00 Lillifag "Get off of my back!" -Local life-forms, in response to Smiley
- 23:00 Lillifag I'll take Hopeful or End, not sure which
- 23:01 Gentlemanvaultboy "YEEEEEEE-HAWWWWWWW" -Smiley, Agent 47 of the Forth Generation, absolutely loving Pony Patrol.
- 23:03 Greyheart "Oh for the love of- Smiley, get the cross OFF of that poor girl!" -Artist, Agent 72
- 23:03 Lillifag "That seems fairly awkward, seeing how we're supposed to be disguised as the locals." -End, Agent 13 of the Fourth Generation, watching some clouds get kicked out of existience.
- 23:04 FiremanPrime (Guess I know where I'm taking the party for their first adventure after all...)
- 23:05 Greyheart Blargh....I have to go watch more My Little Pony, don't I...
- 23:05 Lillifag (This seems to be a good setting for lighthearted shenanigans)
- 23:06 Greyheart Suddenly, FiremanPrime has the Sue make it GRIMDARK AS ALL HELLSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSS BOOM!
- 23:06 Lillifag OH FUCK, CANON JUST WENT BOOM
- 23:07 FiremanPrime Well, I'm heading off for now. Everything's logged, I'll revise the notes (now a mini-codex), and all will be great. Adios!
