  1. > I dream of the gods standing over me
  2. > I see Osiris, he compliments my sending the many evil gods to his realm
  3. > I see Horus, who gives me a friendly nudge
  4. > "You can thank me for all the help"
  5. > I see Aunbis, who silently nods
  6. > I see Ma'at
  7. > "The balance will weight you favorably"
  8. I could not have done it without your aid
  9. > I see mother Isis, who embraces me
  10. > "Thank you for stopping those evil beings"
  11. Protecting mother, I did it out of love for my companions
  12. > I awaken to find my companions standing over me
  13. > I am still in the hospital
  14. > I had been speaking to Isis, who is now the Twilight
  15. > Rarity, in place of Ma'at, speaks
  16. > "It was really quite wonderful that you saved us like that"
  17. > I weakly test my arm, which can now be lifted
  18. I only seek to protect those I love
  19. > Rarity walks over, and places her cheek in my outstretched arm
  20. > "Thank you, for what you've done"
  21. > I withdraw my hand
  22. > the blue one, who had been Horus in the dream, speaks
  23. > "It's really cool that you care that much"
  24. > the pink one speaks
  25. > "Once you get out of this crummy ol' hospital, I'm throwing you another party!"
  26. > I smile
  27. Ever ready for a festival
  28. > the fruit farmer, who had been Osiris in the dream, speaks
  29. > "y'all did a mighty fine job taking care of them"
  30. It was not easy, as my condition would tell
  31. > the quiet one, Anubis in the dream, continues to stare, with a smile of gratitude
  32. > I struggle to speak, but continue to converse with them for a while longer
  33. > sensing the difficulty I have speaking, they keep the encounter brief
  34. > I rest momentarily
  35. What other deity could possibly seek to destroy me?
  36. > the night sky enters my room
  37. > she inspects me, calculating the damage done
  38. > "Oh Anon, why do you do this?"
  39. To keep you safe
  40. > "but what about you?"
  41. I worry not, for all I am capable of thinking of is you
  42. > she nuzzles my shoulder, and I wince
  43. What delivered you to me that night?
  44. > "I had heard speaking, carried by the wind, and followed it to you."
  45. I had prayed to Hathor, in hopes of finding a mate
  46. > "I heard of your loneliness, and I too was lonely"
  47. We took eachother unto our hearts, because of a prayer on the wind
  48. > "Indeed"
  49. > I raise my hand to her cheek
  50. > the night sky takes it and rubs against it
  51. > the feeling of her soft coat delivers a warm, welcome feeling
  52. > "I must depart now"
  53. Until we meet again
  54. > I return my hand, and the night sky leaves
  55. > I slip into slumber once more
  56. > I dream of the pharaoh, murdered
  57. > a lioness lapping from the pool of blood
  58. > I startle awake
  59. > The very same I had dreamed of stands over me now
  60. Good afternoon, pharaoh
  61. > "Good afternoon Anon"
  62. Tell me, what brings you to my bedside? Tales from your sister?
  63. > I manage a chuckle at my joke
  64. > She smiles warmly, seeing my attempt at humor as a good sign
  65. > "I came to ensure that you are alive"
  66. Alive, yes, healthy, no
  67. > "In time you will recover"
  68. I only pray I have time
  69. > "If a threat should arise, I shall have the guard end it"
  70. > I smile
  71. > "I must leave now, Anon"
  72. goodbye pharaoh
  73. > the pharaoh departs
  74. > time fleets away
  75. > I fall to slumber
  76. > The two weeks pass
  77. > I am released from the hospital, weak, but alive
  78. > I head home
  79. > upon entering, I find my entire home invaded by ponies
  80. > "Surprise!"
  81. She never fails
  82. > I mingle with the ponies
  83. > the party doesn't run long, thankfully
  84. > I wish everyone a safe trip home, and go to bed
  85. > I recall the dream of the pharaoh
  86. > I awake quickly, sweating
  87. > the pharaoh visits me the next morning
  88. > "Come to Canterlot Castle, we shall ensure you are properly rested and cared for until you are healthy"
  89. You are too kind pharaoh
  90. > "it's the least we can do"
  91. > I relocate myself to the castle
  92. > I have royal nurses tend to the slashes on my body
  93. > they bandage me
  94. > they ensure I have almost no unnecessary disruptions
  95. > almost
  96. > I awake from sleep with a start
  97. > I hear a loud crash
  98. > I exit my room, careful not to alert anything
  99. > several guards rush past me and cluster at a point
  100. > I see two guards, laying dead
  101. > I hearken back to the dream
  102. > my heart accelerates
  103. > I open the door the two guarded
  104. > I freeze
  105. > the pharaoh lie dead, bleeding from wounds on her neck
  106. > a lioness laps smugly at the pool of blood on the floor
  107. > upon seeing me, the lioness flees
  108. > I rush over to the pharaoh
  109. > her eyes stare, lifeless, emotionless, the pupils large balls in her iris
  110. > I fall to the ground, in shock
  111. > the guards surround me
  112. > tears form in my eyes
  113. > the puncture wounds in her neck are pronounced, and red stains trail from her neck to the floor
  114. > I, and several guards, let loose tears
  115. > I shake uncontrollably, and strain to not allow more tears
  116. > the night sky walks next to me
  117. > she cries out, and sobs
  118. > I stand, and embrace her
  119. > she weeps into my shoulder
  120. > I squeeze onto her neck
  121. > We maintain this stance for many moments
  122. > We return to our quarters
  123. > I did not sleep this night
  124. > the next morning, the room was cleaned
  125. > the entire castle lay in a deafening silence
  126. > the pharaoh's throne sits vacant
  127. > I must somehow resolve this tragedy
  128. Luna, bring me your chariot
  129. > The chariot is brought
  130. > I board it
  131. do not expect to see me for a long time
  132. > I set off, following the sun, and Ra, to the gates of amenta
  133. > I ride for the full day, tracking the sun along its path
  134. > the gates stand before me
  135. > Two massive doors, carved of solid ebony
  136. > At the gates stands Anubis
  137. > "Halt mortal, you are not fit to enter the amenta"
  138. Anubis, I beseech thee, grant me passage, I must right a terrible wrong
  139. > "No soul shall enter which is not fit for this land"
  140. Anubis, the pharaoh has been wrongfully killed, her spirit must be rescued
  141. > "I shall grant you entrance, but I warn you. The land is hostile, and the road long."
  142. I shall brave it
  143. > The massive doors open, and in front of me is a vast desert
  144. > I ride into the desert
  145. > I would spend the next 7 weeks in this desert, traveling the path of souls on their journey to judgement
  146. > I neither hunger, nor thirst, as that is the way of this land
  147. > I fight against fatigue as I approach the hall of judgement
  148. > I enter the structure
  149. > In the middle lay a massive golden balance
  150. > to the right, a bird man, Thoth, writes on papyrus
  151. > to the left, Osiris, lord of the dead, sits
  152. > behind the balance sits Ma'at, providing the feather with which to judge a soul
  153. > in front of me sits the pharaoh
  154. HALT!
  155. > Osiris stirs
  156. > "Anon, how dare you interrupt the sacred process!"
  157. Her end was met before it was her time
  158. > "You dispute the judgement of Anubis, keeper of the gates?"
  159. I know she is not for this world
  160. > "What death has befallen her, that assures you it is unjust?"
  161. a lioness slayed her, and drank proudly from her blood
  162. > "that is not an unjust death"
  163. you speak the truth, however, could a lioness slay a daughter of Ra so easily?
  164. > "Are you implying that this lioness contained the power of the gods?"
  165. > Thoth speaks
  166. > "Sekhmet"
  167. > Ma'at confirms
  168. > "Thoth, in his infinite wisdom, knows of the truth. The bloodthirsty huntress Sekhment is to blame for the death of the pharaoh"
  169. > Osiris considers what has been said
  170. > "Provide to me the soul of the huntress, and I shall ensure her return to the realm of the living"
  171. > I awake in my bed
  172. > a dream?
  173. > No, I must seek the huntress
  174. > a roar bellows from in town
  175. > I rush to the scene
  176. > Several more ponies lay dead
  177. > I swallow my sadness and examine the area
  178. > a fleeting shadow on a rooftop
  179. > I follow it, but quickly lose it
  180. Damn
  181. > I curse myself, knowing more are to be killed
  182. > I go to the Twilight
  183. > she is clearly mourning the pharaoh
  184. > "Anon, it's good to see a friendly face"
  185. yes Twilight, I have news about the pharaoh
  186. > "What is it?"
  187. The lioness that killed her, was Sekhmet, a huntress, and extremely dangerous
  188. > "How did she get here?"
  189. I don't know, but I spoke with Osiris, and should she be returned to the land of the gods, the pharaoh will return to our realm
  190. > She immediately cheers up
  191. > "well then, I guess we better get searching"
  192. I will continue my search, you tell the others
  193. > she runs off to fetch the others
  194. > I walk through the town, warning those I can
  195. > I turn a corner near the center of town
  196. > the streets run red with blood
  197. > Slashes to the face, gouged out eyes, strips of flesh missing from the bodies, some with organs on full display
  198. > I feel ill, and must turn away
  199. > I hear a female laugh
  200. > I turn again, to see a woman with a lion head
  201. > "oh the thrill of the hunt"
  202. > her eyes gleam
  203. > her lips are stained red
  204. > I cannot speak, I am too appalled at what has befallen these creatures
  205. > Sekhmet stares directly at me, and announces
  206. > "let the games begin"
  207. > she vanishes
  208. > I run to an alley, and heave
  209. > the rest of my companions find me soon after
  210. > they too, are in shock at the display
  211. > We head away from the bodies
  212. > It is getting late, but we cannot stop the search
  213. > I search the perimeter of the town, the others search in the town
  214. > throughout the night, various screams are heard
  215. > undoubtedly more of Sekhmet's pleasures
  216. > I hear a rustle from a bush in the forest
  217. > I rush into the forest
  218. > I follow the sound as it takes me left and right
  219. > the sound is coming from behind me
  220. > I pounce on it
  221. > nothing
  222. > I see a glint from the corner of my eye
  223. Clever girl
  224. > I dodge to the left, and flee
  225. > the tree limbs above me shake as Sekhmet bounds from limb to limb
  226. > I cast glances behind me, to see the shining eyes of a lioness on the hunt
  227. > I stumble, and fall
  228. > before I can recover, a sharp pain hits my back
  229. > I feel the claws dig into my back as Sekhmet prepares to take my life
  230. > "what a pity that you couldn't do better"
  231. > she stomps on my back
  232. > I feel my recovering ribs splinter once more
  233. > I feel a sharp pain with every breath
  234. > he claws dig deeper into my back
  235. > I let out a weak cry, as I gargle on blood rising from my punctured lung
  236. > Sekhmet turns me over
  237. > her eyes show the lust of a primal predator, delivering the kill
  238. > she raises her claw
  239. > she strikes down
  240. > a loud thud is heard as flesh meets flesh
  241. > I open my eyes to see a rainbow streak
  242. > the Twilight rushes to me, I sputter up more blood
  243. > "Stay with me Anon"
  244. > I can do nothing but breathe
  245. > a bright flash envelops me, and I find myself once more in the hospital
  246. > I fade away as the doctors remark
  247. > "Honestly, Anon, you must stop hurting yourself like this"
  248. > I awaken in the hospital bed, once again
  249. > my six comrades are by my side
  250. > I am too weak to speak
  251. > the blue one speaks
  252. > "She got away"
  253. > the Twilight interjects
  254. > "But what matters is that Anon is safe"
  255. > I grunt in frustration
  256. > each moment I'm on the bed, Sekhmet is hunting another pony
  257. > "We need to think of a way to get her to stop"
  258. > I recall a myth
  259. I...
  260. > I wince, it hurts to speak
  261. I know how
  262. > "really! How!?"
  263. Make her drink
  264. > "how will that help?"
  265. if she's drunk...she doesn't kill
  266. > "how do we get her to do that?"
  267. make it like blood
  268. > they recoil at the though of drinking blood
  269. > "a-are you sure this will work?"
  270. yes
  271. > I lay in the hospital for the next two months
  272. > the Twilight reports progress, and deaths
  273. > Sekhmet has slowed
  274. > I burn at the idea of not being able to stop her
  275. > my two months are over
  276. > I have seen several nurses not return to work
  277. > I join my companions at the fruit farm
  278. > the brew is complete
  279. > "now what?"
  280. we lure her to it
  281. > the fruit farmer will be the lure
  282. > we each hide
  283. > the fruit farmer waits outside, in the dark
  284. > she gallops down the stairs to the cellar
  285. > the footfalls of the lioness follow in pursuit
  286. > the fruit farmer comes to the end of the cellar
  287. > the blue one, and the pink one throw the brew onto Sekhmet
  288. > Sekhmet licks at the brew
  289. > "delicious"
  290. > the lioness breaks a barrel, and drinks
  291. > she breaks several more
  292. > she has drunk nearly fifteen barrels before she falls over
  293. > I draw a khopesh, and leap from the shadows
  294. > Sekhmet, in her inebriated state, does not comprehend this before it is too late
  295. > I slash into her neck, and decapitate the lion from the woman
  296. > she fades from this realm, and the others cheer
  297. > I do not
  298. > I think of all those, slain under her
  299. > walk outside, and into town, bodies litter the streets
  300. > I see a shimmering light, which descends onto the bodies.
  301. > wounds on the bodies heal
  302. > the bodies reanimate
  303. > they awaken, as if from slumber
  304. > I run to various places, each body rises
  305. > I am overjoyed
  306. > I collapse onto my knees
  307. oh most generous Osiris, who restores the life of those who met an early end. Praise thee, and praise his abundant kindness.
  308. > the ponies speak of strange dreams, and wonder why they were asleep in the middle of the street
  309. > the night sky flies to me
  310. > "the dead are living once more!"
  311. I know, isn't it a miraculous thing?
  312. > We ride back to the palace of the pharaoh
  313. > the body has been laying on a bed
  314. > I and the night sky rush to the bed
  315. > the trail of blood from the neck fades
  316. > the holes seal, and vanish
  317. > the pharaoh inhales, and awakens
  318. > I, in my joy, throw myself to her
  319. > I wrap my arms around her, tearing with joy
  320. > "Anon, you saved me"
  321. I ended the hunt
  322. > the guards have come rushing in, to see the revivified pharaoh
  323. > I smile, and take my leave
  324. > I make my way to the guest chambers
  325. > I whisper to myself as I climb into bed
  326. the night is young, my fatigue is great, and my heart is full
  327. > I feel a rustle as the night sky joins me in the bed
  328. > I sleep soundly, unpestered by night terrors, and joyful in the new life of the pharaoh
