  1. >The ship gave off a low hum as the FTL drive propelled you from the Relay station towards the citadel
  2. >Joker was arguing with EDI as normal about how to control the Normandy
  3. >You let out a relieved sigh after accepting the fact you just came out of that suicide mission alive
  4. >Tali walks passed you with a wave and what you would gess was a smile behind that mask
  5. >"Finished the repairs to the drive commander, Keelah that was a lot of work."
  6. >She walks towards the cockpit to join in the verbal brawl with Joker and EDI
  7. >Little does she know you've been eyeing her ass the whole time.
  8. >Suddenly your attention is broken by Kellies voice
  9. >"Commander, Admiral Hacket is on the line."
  10. "Patch it through."
  11. >"Shepard, It's good to see your still in one piece along with your crew. That Omega Relay run had us all on the edge of our seats"
  12. "Cut to the chase Admiral."
  13. >"We've discovered a new Mass Effect gate although its trajectory is... Impossible to predict"
  14. >Let me guess
  15. >"We wouldn't normally ask you to be the guinea pic in these type of operations."
  16. "Why the change?"
  17. >The Relay is so close to the Citadel that it needs to be investigated right now by someone who knows what they're doing."
  18. >*Sigh*
  19. "Give me the co-ordinates Admiral. We'll check it out."
  20. >"This should be a simple run shepard. Fifth Fleet out."
  21. "Joker, set a course."
  22. >Joker apparently missed your last order as he's still bickering with EDI
  23. >...
  24.
  25. "JOKER!"
  26. >Poor guy nearly fell out of his seat.
  27. >"Ah- Commander! You scared the hell out of me."
  28. "Set a course with the co-ordinates fifth fleet just gave us. You're going to have to reschedule that meeting with the Consort."
  29. >"Wh- ... Aye Commander."
  30. >Joker began cursing under his breath as he layed in the co-ordinates.
  31. >He'd been looking forward to that visit for months.
  32. >"We're coming up on the relay Commander, you think the clowns over at fifth would've come up with a name for this thing by now"
  33. >You slowly hear joker gasp as the relay comes within visual range
  34. >"Commander... You might wanna see this."
  35. >Mother of god, this thing is massive, atleast 5 times the size of a regular mass relay
  36. >".... So... Where do you think it goes?"
  37. >You see the blue orbs light pierce the dark abyss around the relay.
  38. >You've traveled through these things a million times. This one however seems.... different.
  39. "There's only one way to find out."
  40. "When we get close enough let the Relay's navigational systems point us in the right direction. We're flying blind for now."
  41. >Joker smiles and turns to you
  42. >"Looks like I'm out of a job for now... Hmm... I think I got a name for that relay Commander."
  43. "And that is?"
  44. >"The Goliath Relay."
  45. >A fitting name. Joker actually came up with something meaningful and not sarcastic.
  46. >You thought you'd never see that day coming.
  47. >"Mass Acceleration in five seconds."
  48. >"four"
  49. >"three"
  50. >"two"
  51. >"one"
  52.
  53. >As the normandy approaches the goliath gate a blue streak slams into the side of the ship
  54. >"What the shit!?"
  55. "Joker! What's happening"
  56. >"Commander these energy readings are off the charts, this things gonna shake us apart!"
  57. "Get us outta here!"
  58. >Joker frantically rattles on the controls
  59. >"-I cant the mass acceleration sequence has already begun!!!"
  60. "EDI?"
  61. >"There is nothing we can do commander."
  62. >You run over to your post and get on the intercom
  63. >"This is the Commander, everybody hang on! we're in for a rough ride."
  64. >The blue beam outside suddenly explodes in size and your ship is bathed in a cyan glow
  65. >Your ship begins to get pulled along the mass rails
  66. >The Normandy begins to vibrate as the mass coils begin to charge
  67. "Here we go..."
  68. >With an ear-shattering explosion the normandy is jeticined into the black void.
  69.
  70. >...
  71. >*cough*
  72. >Your lungs burn as they fill with air
  73. >Your eyes sting like they've just been sprayed with chlorine
  74. >The back of your head feels like it's just gone twenty rounds with mike tyson
  75. >With the painful aching of your muscles you roll onto your stomach and get yourself onto your feet
  76. >You gaze around the area but it's night time so you cant make out any landmarks or recognisable locations.
  77. >Apart from a series of fires that illuminate the face of what looks to be a mountain
  78. >Twisted, broken and battered metal showered the entire hillside
  79. >What the hell just happened?
  80. >As you try to recall the events a horrible realisation hits you
  81. >You can't remember where you are, how you got here... You can't even remember your name, or if you had any family.
  82. >You brush the back of your head as you feel sweat begin to run down your shoulders.
  83. >You hold your hand up and squint at it in the light of the moon.
  84. >That's not sweat at all... That's blood.
  85. >You carefully dab your hand across the back of your head again and feel a large fissure
  86. >about the width and length of your index finger has been cut out of the back of your head.
  87. >Your vision blurrs as you try to take a few steps forward.
  88. >It seems that the blood loss has taken its toll.
  89. >Your knees buckle under your weight and you black out face down in the grass.
