>Rejuvenated by your gung-ho attitude, the changelings had the energy to actively hunt above.
>You get into a rhythm until the wall before you crumbles, revealing a cave full of glowing crystals.
>They're beautiful and send chills down your spine when you reach for them.
>You run your hand along one and feel a jolt of electricity run through you.
>Your hands spark green.
>Oh HELL yes.
>You focus the electricity and hit another wall and watch it go off, revealing more to the cavern.
 
“Incredible...”
 
>You feel the power leave you.
>Disappointing.
>You hear rapid hoofsteps headed your way.
>Chrysalis must have heard the explosion.
>”What...was...that...?”
>She sees the room.
 
“I'm guessing you know what these are?”
 
>”This is Spirit Emerald. It's a powerful, natural source of magic.”
>Interesting.
 
“I touched one and fired this bolt of energy that blew a hole in that wall.”
 
>You point to the new hole.
>Her jaw drops.
>”This...There's SO MUCH OF IT! Do you know what this means?!”
 
“Not really.”
 
>”With all of this we can finally get back at those ponies! It's been about half a year since they stopped me! But with all this, nothing can stop me!”
>You frown.
>You feel you've allied with the wrong side.
 
“What do you mean?”
 
>”I should explain our history. Once we lived beneath Canterlot. Then the Ponies started mining gems, and ended up collapsing our old hive. Most of us escaped, but some were crushed, including the King. I'm not to bothered by that; he was a coward. But I tried to take revenge, and we ended up back here.”
 
“I see.”
 
>Crystals with magic power.

>You look to her.
 
“So these emeralds... do they perhaps get stronger over time?”
 
>She looks at you somewhat surprised.
>”How did you know that?”
>God you were glad you grew up with Power Rangers back in the 90's.
 
“Where I come from, the was a fictional team of superheroes who have five crystals as power sources, and they get stronger over time. I was thinking that maybe since I'm kind of defenseless without any fangs or magic of my own the same principle could apply here? Hopefully without goofy tights or poses.”
 
>You remembered the show, and yes this was like a blow to the nostalgia, but the outfits were silly and you knew you had Japan to blame for that.
>But super powers?
>You were all in if you could have super powers like that energy blast.
>Oh FUCK yes.
>”Maybe. We'd need a way to contain and control it though. These things can be unstable.”
