  1. >First thing you realize as you wake up is that you’re falling.
  2. >Fast.
  3. >From orbit.
  4. >To the ground.
  5. >Shit.
  6. >Thankfully that same red barrier from before is protecting you.
  7. >Doesn’t stop you from crashing into the ground and leaving a crater.
  8. >As the smoke, dust, and debris clear away, you notice a blur of color around you and hear muffled voices.
  9. >Your head hurts and you dare to take a breath.
  10. >That action hurts too, your throat sore from whatever you’ve been breathing.
  11. >As the murmuring becomes clearer, you hear a voice cry out:
  12. >”I TOLD YOU! ALL OF YOU! I KNEW THE FAMILY LEGENDS WERE TRUE! BUT YOU DIDN”T BELIEVE ME! YOU CALLED ME CRAZY! WELL IN YO’ FACES!”
  13. >You blink to clear your vision completely and see a mint green unicorn.
  14.
  15. “Wait.. ya’ll’re one a’ them maids! Kithira weren’t it?”
  16.
  17. >”That was my great, great, great, great, great, great, great, great, great, great, great, GREAT Grandmother! You’ve been a legend in our family for over one thousand years!”
  18.
  19. “One thousand…? What the hell are ya’ll on about?”
  20.
  21. >”It’s been 1000 years since Princess Celestia sent you two to the moon! My great, great-!”
  22. >You shoot her a glare.
  23. >”-Ancestor… saw the whole thing!”
  24. >Luna.
  25. >What about your Luna.
  26. “Luna… is she…?”
  27. >The p0ny’s expression changes and she looks away.
  28. >”I… don’t know. The story goes that she… changed.”
  29. >Changed.
  30. >Your heart is gripped with turmoil.
  31. >She lost to the Nightmare within.
  32. >And it’d all Celestia’s fault.
  33. >Not to mention a thousand years have passed.
  34. >Strange, don’t feel like it.
  35. >You look down at your hands.
  36. >Not a day older than they had been before.
  37.
  38. “Where’s Luna?”
  39.
  40. >”I…I don’t know! B-but there’s somep0ny here who could help! Her name is Twilight Sparkle from what I hear and- Look, there she is!”
  41. >You follow the horse’s hoof and see a group of six p0nies galloping or flying to the edge of town.
  42. >To a forest.
  43.
  44. “Then I reckon I’d better catch up.”
  45.
  46. >”W-Wait!”
  47.
  48. “What? I’m kinda in a hurry here!”
  49.
  50. >”C-Can I come with you?”
  51. >She looks up at you as you rise with big eyes.
  52. >Why the fuck not? You might need some backup and she’s a Unicorn.
  53.
  54. “Fine. Piss me off an’ ah’m droppin ya, understand?”
  55.
  56. >”D-dropping me? W-what do you-!”
  57. >You activate your pendant’s power and your wings form.
  58.
  59. “Droppin’ ya.”
  60.
  61. >You grab her in your arms, easy to do thanks to her being much smaller than Luna.
  62. >With a mighty flap of your wings you take to the skies and head off after the other p0nies.
  63. >However, you lose them.
  64. >It’s then you spot a familiar, decayed structure in the distance.
  65. >Luna’s retreat.
  66. >Except now it’s in ruins and somewhat overgrown with vines.
  67. >You change course.
  68. >”What are you doing? We have to find Twilight Sparkle! She’s-!”
  69.
  70. “Ah’ need to go an’ fetch a couple of things.”
  71.
  72. >You land out front and push open the massive double doors.
  73. >One seems as if it might fall off its hinges.
  74. >You warily make your way to the room that you once called your own.
  75. >You head over to the desk and open the drawer, removing your revolver, holster, and ammo pouch.
  76. >You strap the holster to your hip as the unicorn begins wandering around, exploring the room.
  77. >She hears the sound of your revolver opening and jumps, turning to face you.
  78. >”What’s that?”
  79.
  80. “Gun.”
  81.
  82. >”What’s it do?”
  83.
  84. “Puts a bullet between the eyes of one bitch of a flying horse that sent me packing a thousand years ago and took away my Luna.”
  85.
  86. >Your voice is dripping with hatred and is cold as ice.
  87. >You wanted that bitch six feet under.
  88. >You were gonna-
  89. >”Y-you mean you want to KILL Princess Celestia?!”
  90.
  91. “Damn right I do. She took everything I had away from me. Payback time. Now, where th’ hell’s my hat?”
  92.
  93. >It’s nowhere to be found.
  94. >You sigh and turn to leave, but a sudden rumble causes rubble from the ceiling to fall in your path.
  95.
  96. “Shit!”
  97.
  98. >You get to work trying to move the stones away.
  99. >You turn to the unicorn.
  100.
  101. “Get yer’ ass over here and help me.”
  102.
  103. >Your tone forces her to comply.
  104. >As soon as you manage to clear the stones and wood away from the door you hear a voice from deeper within the retreat.
  105. >Celestia can wait; after all, if that thing that used to be Luna is free too, then she’s probably beat you to the punch.
  106. >You head deeper with the unicorn following you.
  107. >”-WILL LAST…FOREVER! AHAHAAH!”
  108. >You throw the doors open and see what looks like a twisted version of your Luna laughing maniacally over six ponies.
  109. >You recognize them; the ones this one pointed out.
  110.
  111. “I got a bone to pick with ya’ll.”
  112.
  113. >You march forward past the six ponies and notice five stones on the ground.
  114. >So the elements weren’t functional anymore.
  115. >Good.
  116. >”Well, well, well! If it isn’t Luna’s lover, the human named Anonymous! I thought you had surely perished.”
  117. >A commotion began behind you.
  118.
  119. “I ain’t dead. Don’t know how, but I ain’t.”
  120.
  121. >You stare the malicious being in the eyes.
  122.
  123. “Give me back my Luna ya freakshow.”
  124.
  125. >”Hold on.”
  126. >You look behind you at the violet p0ny that spoke to you.
  127. >”Isn’t THIS Princess Luna?”
  128.
  129. “No. This ain’t my Luna. Somethin’ that lived in her head.”
  130.
  131. >”This doesn’t make any sense! My books told me that Luna transformed because of jealousy and hatred into Nightmare Moon!”
  132.
  133. “Listen ya varmint, let me tell ya somethin’: History’s written by th’ victors. That was Sunshine. This ain’t Luna. Not anymore. Ain’t that right, ‘Nightmare Moon’?”
  134.
  135. >You spit the last words despise for the being matched only by that for Celestia filling your words.
  136. >”He’s right. I’m my own p0ny after all. I may have started as magic-fueled schizophrenia, but when Celestia sent Anonymous here away, Luna finally gave in to ME!”
  137. >You look back at the smaller p0ny.
  138.
  139. “Sunshine’s been lyin’ to you this entire time. Can’t trust her, that bitch. She tried t’ kill me.”
  140.
  141. >The violet unicorn was confused and appalled at your words.
  142. >”How can you say that about CELESTIA!? She’s-!”
  143.
  144. “She’s as much a monster as Nightmare Moon! How do you know that bitch huh?! Ya’ll don’t know jack shit!”
  145.
  146. >”Um… Mr. Human? She’s Princess Celestia’s student.”
  147.
  148. “Well don’t that explain a lot? If I can’t get first crack at Sunshine herself, I’ll take out mah anger on th’ next best thing!”
  149.
  150. >Without any hesitation you march over and punt the violet unicorn a decent distance away.
  151. >This sparks an uproar from her comrades.
  152. >The blue Pegasus comes at you.
  153. >You stumble a bit, but given she didn’t have much room to gain momentum, you manage to catch her.
  154. >You grab her around the neck and place the gunbarrel against the side of her head.
  155.
  156. “Any of ya’ll make a move and I’ll shoot her.”
  157.
  158. >You scan the six and notice one of them is wearing something familiar to you;
  159. >Your hat.
  160. >How the fuck did she get a hold of that?
  161. >Oh well, not important right now.
  162. >You turn to the mint green p0ny and bark an order:
  163.
  164. “Minty! Go procure mah’ hat from that orange one.”
  165.
  166. >”My… my name is Lyra.”
  167. >She obeys, apologizing to the orange horse.
  168. >You holster the gun but keep a tight grip on the pegasus’s neck.
  169. >Taking the hat you put it on and draw you gun.
  170. >However, instead of pointing it at the blue p0ny, you aim it at the larger horse behind you.
  171.
  172. “Gimme back mah’ Luna. This ain’t yer body.”
  173.
  174. >”There is no more Luna! No trace of her remains!”
  175. >You cock the hammer.
  176.
  177. “Then you ain’t worth keeping around. You ain’t Luna.”
  178.
  179. >You eye the horse and catch a glimpse of her eyes.
  180. >You’ve heard eyes are the gateway to the soul.
  181. >Never truer than now.
  182. >You catch a mere glimpse, a spark.
  183. >She’s lying; Luna’s there somewhere, locked deep away in her mind.
  184. >You just needed to figure out how to get her back.
  185. >Elements weren’t an option; they sent both of you to the moon last time, but this time they might kill her.
  186. >She notices your discovery and puts on an evil grin.
  187. >You toss the blue p0ny to the ground.
  188.
  189. “A’m  gonna let ya’ll stick around. One thing tho’.”
  190.
  191. >”And that is?”
  192.
  193. “Where’s Sunshine?”
  194.
  195. >You pull your gun back.
  196.
  197. “Cause’ I got a .44 round with her name on it.”
  198.
  199. >”I considered the sun, but lacking a true surface that would be rather useless. She’s in the dungeons below Canterlot.”
  200. >Suddenly you, Lyra, and the other six are in the dungeon.
  201. >Nightmare Moon is nowhere to be seen.
  202. >That, and the six she had been confronting were shackled and chained.
  203. >Right next to Celestia.
  204. >You notice first off she has a new hairdo, now a rainbow of lightly saturated colors as opposed to the bright pink it once was.
  205. >She seems to be confused as to how to react; it’s obvious now these six were her strike force meant to harness the elements in her stead.
  206. >Not happening now.
  207. >And then there’s you.
  208. >You lean against the wall and tip your hat down.
  209.
  210. “Hello again, Sunshine.”
  211.
  212. >You draw your revolver and spin the chamber once every couple of seconds, waiting for it to almost stop before spinning it again.
  213. >”Anonymous, I-!”
  214.
  215. “CAN IT!”
  216.
  217. >You pull back the hammer on the gun and the white horse tenses.
  218.
  219. “I ain’t gonna listen to no more o’ yer’ lip!”
  220.
  221. >You uncock the hammer and begin spinning the chamber again, calming.
  222.
  223. “Ya’ll tried to kill me. Ya’ll took away my Luna.”
  224.
  225. >You raise your head enough for her to see your death glare.
  226.
  227. “Ya’ll took away all I had.”
  228.
  229. >Twilight, the violet one, tries to protest, but the white horse shakes her head.
  230.
  231. “So how should we go about this?”
  232.
  233. >You push away from the wall and begin pacing.
  234.
  235. “Could just shoot you. Quick, clean, simple.”
  236.
  237. >You turn at the end of your path.
  238.
  239. “Or…”
  240.
  241. >You stop at Twilight and aim the gun at her.
  242.
  243. “I could do what ya’ll did to me. I could take everythin’ from ya. I could shoot each of em’. In fact...”
  244.
  245. >You pull the gun away and resume pacing.
  246.
  247. “I could shoot the other five of em’ and let ya’ll watch em’ bleed out… then beat yer’ student here within an inch of her life before I splatter her brains all over that there wall.”
  248.
  249. >You nod to the wall behind them.
  250. >”Your quarrel is with me, not my subjects Anonymous.”
  251. >Her expression and tone are serious.
  252. >It’s at this point you get a good sight of what’s keeping them bound.
  253. >Shackles are attached to their ankles and their wings are bound to their bodies.
  254. >You notice the chains glow with an unnatural black aura.
  255. >Keeping their magic sealed no doubt.
  256. >You walk over to her and press the gun against her forehead.
  257.
  258. “Alright then.”
  259.
  260. >”Before you end my life, allow me to say one thing.”
  261.
  262. “Say it.”
  263.
  264. >”I’m sorry.”
  265. >Your finger floats a bit further away from the trigger.
  266. >”This is my fault, all of it. I understand how rude I acted when you arrived and how it would seem I mistreated my sister. I wanted to protect her. Not just from you, but from the stress of ruling. I treated her like a foal and paid the price. I… I wasn’t aware that she’d harbored such negative feelings. As for my attitude, I was trying to be what I belived a princess should be. Not only did I lose my sister… I separated the two of you.”
  267. >The other p0nies were surprised at this.
  268. >”Princess…”
  269. >It was her student.
  270. >”I spent 1000 years alone. I too miss Luna’s company. I took for granted what I had and we both paid the price in full.”
  271. >Dammit.
  272. >You uncock the handgun and walk over to the door.
  273. >”Where are you going, Mr. Human?”
  274. >You turn your head to look back at the mint green unicorn.
  275.
  276. “I’m goin’ t’ have a talk with Nightmare Moon.”
  277.
  278. >You had a plan to get your Luna back.
  279. >Wait a minute.
  280.
  281. “One more thing.”
  282.
  283. >”What?”
  284.
  285. “Ya’ll got any kind of sensor spell or somethin’? To detect livin’ things?”
  286.
  287. >”Yes… why?”
  288.
  289. “Start it up. If ya’ can’t feel me anymore… let em’ go.”
  290.
  291. >You were going to get your Luna back.
  292. >Or die trying.
