- Certain, random nights, a portal will open outside the First Watchtower. Inside is a dangerous dungeon, built from Spark Chaser's nightmares. With the threat of monsters leaking out, it'd be a good idea to clear out the dungeon inside, wouldn't it? Of course, since the dungeon is built from Spark Chaser's own psychotic dreams, each one is different from the last, and there is little logic to how things are put together.
- Chaos Gate is a minigame quest series for 4c on the channel #fourcannonchaosgate. It is a non-canon action/exploration quest that is run as I deem fit to. The objective is to reach the end of the dungeon. Period. Chaos Gate runs off of SSSS, and will allow the use of bonuses from that system. In addition, there are a few other rules.
- 1. You may only bring one weapon, one clothing or armor outfit, saddlebags, and one utility item or kit. These items must be from what your character has IC in Four Cannon. Only six players can enter the Chaos Gate at a time. If there is an empty slot, Spark Chaser will join on the quest.
- 2. This is a speedrun. There is a strict two hour time limit. As soon as this limit has been hit, everyone is ejected from the Gate. Players can only go AFK for approximately 2 minutes, and cannot go into NPC mode. You can decide to "Wake Up", thus exiting the dungeon. If you die, you are not truly dead. You simply exit the dungeon. Either of these leaves behind a marker of where you were. If you went AFK or disconnected for longer than 2 minutes, you will return to the dungeon in the exact state and spot you were in when you were last seen. If you have "died", you cannot reenter unless called upon at a Summoning Altar.
- 3. Players currently in the dungeon and at a Summoning Altar can request "A New Challenger", and can call out across the channels for more players. Players who join up will appear with the party. There is always a Summoning Altar at the entrance. You can also place an item on the Altar to exchange it for a special effect or different item in return. Environment Cards will swap out which Environment you are in. Enemy Remains will turn into Small Hearts. Other items may turn into Crystal Points or Keys!
- 4. After the run is complete, all players will return to the state they were in when they entered. You will not need to heal from the adventure, and any expendable or broken items will return to their prior state. Of course, this also means any bonuses or loot found in the dungeon will vanish.
- 5. When you return to the Chaos Gate for a second run, any items you picked up in the last run will be placed in a chest with your name on it at the entrance. Unfortunately, your saddlebags can only carry twenty items at a time.
- 6. You are still in character within the dungeon. Anything that's going on in Four Cannon is fair game to be talked about and RP'ed while inside the dungeon. However, the Chaos Gate is not canon yet. Don't go talking about it IC outside of the dungeon.
- 7. When you enter the gate, your team must decide what difficulty level you want. At Easy level, most enemies will die in 1 hit. Insane level will make them have up to 10 HP! There are Easy, Normal, Hard, Expert, and Insane difficulty levels. Choose Wisely!
- 8. If you beat the run in less than an hour, a special BONUS GATE will appear! The Bonus Gate is a short map, with just the boss room, the quest room, and three NPC rooms. No locks, no puzzles, no traps. Just goodies and a Boss!
- Each run through the Chaos Gate will be different. The rooms will be randomly picked from a set of semi-randomly built rooms. There will be puzzles. There will be monsters. There will be humor, and action, and horror. You will never find the same experience twice.
- Since this is a speedrun of the Gate, I'll post up a leaderboard on the thread to show who got how far, and what the best times are for a particular map layout. Teams will be ranked together, and given a score based on their performance! Of course, you'll want to still strive for your personal best! Hold on to it for as long as you can for more Crystal Points! Other difficult feats may reward you with Crystal Points as well, so shoot for the stars!
- -----------------Version 8 Updates
- Removed Insect Items. This will not affect gameplay significantly.
- Replaced The Eye of the Maelstrom Environment and Card with The Void. Maelstrom was too convoluted a description.
- Removed the Summon Altar from the features list. The Altar will only appear in the Entry Room.
- Summon Altar has expanded functionality.
- Doctor Hooves' ability switched. He still sells keys for 300. He will now revive or summon new players for 600. If he does so, it does not count as a death. He can also teleport you straight to the Boss or Quest room for 1000.
- Small Hearts now heal 1d4 HP, while Big Hearts heal 1d10.
- Increased likelihood of the Fairy Fountain and Armos Statue.
- Increased likelihood of finding weapons in chests and at Flim/Flam's shop.
- Finally added the base values of items, and finished the Equipment list. There were a lot of blanks.
- Removed Nurse Redheart's Hospital, Display Room, and Twisted Display room. Replaced with Agent M's Armory, Another Kuu's Lair, and Hazard's Haven.
- Added the Bonus Gate Rule.
- Chaos Gate is now officially used to test new rulesets. Be prepared for mechanics that may break things.
- -----------------Version 7 Updates
- Changed the AFK/DC rule to allow players to return.
- -----------------Version 6 Updates
- Changed the environments, removing some unseen environs that were less inspired for newer, more unique ones. Environments may force a dungeon into a particular layout, or may be a part of the challenge!
- Finished building the puzzle rooms.
- Removed the Fake Door puzzle door. This made room for...
- Fake Doors added to the game. There is a 50% chance that an otherwise blank wall will have a fake door on it. These will range from a legit fake door, to a fake version of a puzzle door. Relocated Bookcases to being Fake Doors.
- Removed the Mask Items for non-bosses. Poindexter now gives tame versions of minions that can be used as allies in exchange for remains. Boss drops can still be used to make Masks.
- Added Fairy Fountains and Summon Altars as ultra rare Features. Fairy Fountains restore the party's HP. Summon Altars call for help and revive players.
- Removed the Empty Locked Chest Feature. Replaced with Extra Large Locked Chest.
