  1. This discussion gathered information about previous adventures to the area north of the mountain range. We have found from this information that we are likely not in a volcanic zone, and that the steam vents of Mist Vale are likely a result of a magma pocket or sulfur vents.
  2.
  3. It later discussed how magic interacts with healing, which led to how magic interacts with other elements of pony life. The concept that was developed was in keeping with the tagline "Friendship is Magic". Ponies all have an intrinsic connection to magic, an unconsciously manipulate it to alter their bodies. Magical energy flows into them due to social interaction. The more positive social interaction a pony gets, the more magic flows into them. They use this consciously to perform cloud manipulation, flora manipulation, magic proper, and to manipulate objects in their hooves. They use it unconsciously to promote and retard the division of cells, to accelerate healing and extend lifespan as is necessary. It is important to note at this point that the division of cells is how healing occurs, but our cells have a limited amount of division in them. Healing acceleration would reduce the life-span of a pony, while slowing down the clock on the division would increase it. Ponies such as the Mane 6 have such a high inflow of magic due to their interaction with each other and involvement with their community that it counteracts the magical demands to heal and keep from rapidly aging from their healing. This also means that visitors and good doctors caring for a patient will also accelerate healing by causing a greater influx of energy. In combination with proper medical care and pharmacological potions, a pony can heal quite quickly (like recovering from a shattered bone in three days). There is a possibility that this could be the secret to the Alicorns' being effectively ageless.
  4.
  5. We then continued our discussion with attempting to understand how the Cutie Mark interacts with skills and magic. The concept in development is that the Cutie Mark is a physical sign that the pony in question has discovered how to let their magic flow out at peak efficiency, that is, they have found the skill that makes the most efficient use of their personal magic. Such as Rainbow Dash discovering how to fly the fastest she could, resulting in a Sonic RainBoom and her cutie mark, which illustrates how she accomplished it (Rapid descent to harness gravity in aiding velocity). In the case of the Cutie Pox, we have an outside source infecting the magical field the pony has, changing how it flows. This causes Cutie Marks to appear, and then force the behavior that they denote, seeking a way to be the most efficient.

  7. This is being posted to encourage discussion on the subjects discussed. The following is a log of the discussion.
  8.
  9. [23:50] <Able_Tome> Alright. There are also 2 lore entries for reviewing queue in the list doc from Liven and Booze, something that shouldn't take too much time reading through.
  10. [23:51] <GreenSleeves> [/me is lurking for logs, will read in the morning, but I'm just about to leave. Need sleep after my prodecure this morning + didn't sleep last night. Almost going Able tier here.]
  11. [23:51] <Cheren> [yeah tired too]
  12. [23:52] <Able_Tome> Aye aye. Good night, Sleeves when you'll go.
  13. [23:52] == Al_Dente has changed nick to Al_desert
  14. [23:54] == GreenSleeves has changed nick to GreenSleevesSLUMBERING
  15. [23:54] <Cheren> oh yeah, btw, booze submitted a request to help work with for the quest he wants to GM. Link is in the document that Spark setup last night
  16. [23:57] <Rain_Drop> neat and neat
  17. [00:03] == Cheren has changed nick to Chere-tired

  19. [00:10] == AirTrade [[email protected]] has left #fourcannonplan []
  20. [00:17] <Spark_Chaser> So, Rain, your idea of having a volcanic eruption in the past. It has some evidence, actually. The volcanic activity deep beneath Mist Veil suggests that there are magma vents in the area.
  21. [00:19] <Able_Tome> Hm, there was also a thing about forest in northern region, or lack of it, that is
  22. [00:19] <Able_Tome> iirc Nova GMd a quest where pones traveled to one of the northern patches. Trees were covered in what seemed to be ash/char
  23. [00:20] == Al_desert has changed nick to Al_Dente
  24. [00:20] <Able_Tome> And then at certain point the treeline was just -cut- away. Can indicate that there was something else though
  25. [00:20] <Able_Tome> Ranging from forest fires to other activity.
  26. [00:20] <Able_Tome> Just a thought
  27. [00:20] <Rain_Drop> Holy shit really?
  28. [00:21] <Spark_Chaser> Then, Maybe we should put that headcannon up for vote to accept?
  29. [00:21] <Rain_Drop> Didnt realize i had hit the nail on the head with that haha
  30. [00:21] <Rain_Drop> Mm!
  31. [00:21] <Able_Tome> well....
  32. [00:21] <Rain_Drop> Sorry watching the orginal stargate movie so good!
  33. [00:21] <Able_Tome> I'd ask Nova about her original plan first
  34. [00:21] <Chere-tired> hm
  35. [00:21] <Rain_Drop> Could bring her up to talk and discuss about it
  36. [00:21] <Able_Tome> because there are 3 inconsistencies
  37. [00:22] <Able_Tome> that is, 3 variants
  38. [00:22] == Strong_Metal has changed nick to Strong_Metal_Away
  39. [00:22] <Spark_Chaser> She's on now.
  40. [00:22] <Able_Tome> at one point of time a team traveled to northern mountains and seen patches of trees and forest on top of them (evergreen etc)
  41. [00:22] <Able_Tome> 2nd time was when me, Hidden and Sun went on a 3 days worth of an expedition if you remember Rain
  42. [00:23] <Able_Tome> The forest was also present there, but we haven't ventured deep into mountains, so >treeline or smth
  43. [00:23] <Spark_Chaser> Could be a distribution of ash due to wind. Some areas may have gotten ash, while others didn't.
  44. [00:23] <Able_Tome> After that there was this quest that Nova GMd and apperently at her locale the forest was cut short
  45. [00:24] <Able_Tome> revealing barren land after it (though they've found well preserved living plants there)
  46. [00:25] <Rain_Drop> So that would mean we could have all 3 mixed together more or elss right?

  54. [00:27] <Spark_Chaser> Heya Nova!
  55. [00:27] <Able_Tome> Oi, Nova, a question was raised about northern mountain range
  56. [00:27] <Nova_Flux> asd
  57. [00:27] <Nova_Flux> Oh
  58. [00:27] <Nova_Flux> I can talk
  59. [00:27] <Able_Tome> And that forest bit that you've GMd, remember?
  60. [00:27] <Nova_Flux> What is it do you exactly want.
  61. [00:27] <Nova_Flux> Which forest.
  62. [00:28] <Chere-tired> your expeditions up north into the mountains
  63. [00:28] <Able_Tome> Northern mountain range, remember? Charred trees covered in ash, that rainbow plant and sudden barren land
  64. [00:28] <Able_Tome> The place where forest's treeline got cut
  65. [00:29] <Nova_Flux> Pfffft
  66. [00:29] <Nova_Flux> I did the area north of the moutains but this charred trees and ash is new to me
  67. [00:30] <Able_Tome> The treeline was apperently cut off with only barren land left up north - the place where 'rainbow bloom' flower was found by Boris and co.
  68. [00:30] <Rain_Drop> thought you had mentioned in there?
  69. [00:31] <Able_Tome> iirc Boris was mentioning that trees were covered in something black that looked like ash
  70. [00:31] <Nova_Flux> To be more specific, me and ikea planed an expidition following the western bank of the main river up north out of the range of the map, only search a part of a range for possible magamite or loadstone. We did not find any. Further up we travel further and lead to believe that the moutain range went into the crystal moutain range and a spot for a dam in the future
  71. [00:32] <Nova_Flux> Ah that. Now I remember. That was into the moutains that were on the map. north of the pleasant valley and bit up one of the peaks
  72. [00:32] <Nova_Flux> The "rainbow flower" isn't a flower
  73. [00:32] <Nova_Flux> Its just like a leafy plant that has a chromatic color to it AKA it was super shiny.
  74. [00:33] <Chere-tired> neat
  75. [00:33] <Nova_Flux> There was a flower that was found and it was a crystal structure in the form of a flower. Which is a key point in what will happen up there if people do take it with them or learn they will need it
  76. [00:33] <Nova_Flux> Also there was an ice pick axe found. For climping and stuff up glaciers.
  77. [00:34] <Nova_Flux> I was gonna have that there was a glacier blocking passage up in the moutains that would lead deeper into my plans
  78. [00:34] <Nova_Flux> But with winter beating down hard I think it would be unwise until we either get better gear/clothing and better heating for our ponies
  79. [00:34] <Nova_Flux> Thus its on hold till maybe before the start of spring when things start to heat up

  84. [00:37] <Nova_Flux> [anything I missed?]
  85. [00:37] <Nova_Flux> From the last thing I said?
  86. [00:37] <Able_Tome> Aha, alright. Makes sense. What about this 'ash'? It's just there was a conversation about Mist Veil's volcanic flows (or rather sulphuric fume from vents that indicate volcanic activity) and that entire lore-bit about volcanic activity that Rain was talking about.
  87. [00:39] <Rain_Drop> yeah which could geographically tie into each other with ashe fossiles found in the ground witha colvanic thing happening
  88. [00:39] <Rain_Drop> and god damn stargate movie why uou be so good?
  89. [00:39] <Nova_Flux> Oh no, there is defiently no volcanic activity here. This is, in what I believe, moutains fromed through shifting plates. Though the thought of sulfer vents could be something that would be further south.
  90. [00:40] <Nova_Flux> The idea with this volcanic stuff seems a bit too odd for this far north. Its bad enough we are in a forest area with the moutains being spooky and all and having somewhat of a pernment cloud cover on some of the peaks. (Which would make it better idea for how the map was made, being based on artistic creation and how the map we hold dear and true is not so accurate)\
  91. [00:41] <Nova_Flux> I can see maybe something of not of a volcano but a magma pocket. If we are to use the example of Yellow Stone parc
  92. [00:41] <Nova_Flux> park*
  93. [00:41] <Nova_Flux> Which we can get gysers and all sort of neat stuff but it would need to be explored and properly implemented
  94. [00:42] <Nova_Flux> Anyway back towards the burnt trees
  95. [00:42] <Chere-tired> understood. and yeah odd for mountain range that goes from east to west
  96. [00:42] <Nova_Flux> The are wasnt covered in ash but it was a thick mist that frooze there
  97. [00:42] <Able_Tome> Here's a map for reference http://i.imgur.com/nEuAkSl.jpg
  98. [00:42] <Nova_Flux> You know like seing dew on the ground that has froozen but in a large population
  99. [00:42] <Nova_Flux> The burnt treee was going to be a sign for players
  100. [00:42] <Nova_Flux> Not for dragons or fire breathing anything
  101. [00:43] <Nova_Flux> But that something was tried.
  102. [00:43] <Nova_Flux> Which would evidentally failed after the area was searched better.
  103. [00:43] <Able_Tome> So in other words, artificial in nature?
  104. [00:43] <Nova_Flux> Was hopping for a nat 20 for frozen dead pony head squished in.
  105. [00:43] <Nova_Flux> :3
  106. [00:43] <Nova_Flux> Yes
  107. [00:43] <Nova_Flux> A unicorn
  108. [00:43] <Nova_Flux> need to work on the letter scraps that would be found
  109. [00:43] <Nova_Flux> It was gonna tied into the pre history of 4C
  110. [00:43] <Able_Tome> Sweet! That explains it then.
  111. [00:44] <Able_Tome> Thanks for clarifications.
  112. [00:44] <Nova_Flux> which is why i really tried to get the whole pre lore done
  113. [00:45] <Chere-tired> fuck it. can we setup a prelore document to throw suggestions into?
  114. [00:46] <Able_Tome> Lorebook can be used?
  115. [00:46] <Chere-tired> oh pffft
  116. [00:46] <Chere-tired> tired
  117. [00:46] <Chere-tired> yeah that would work
  118. [00:46] <Able_Tome> Dedicate a section in the end for ongoing ideas
  119. [00:46] <Rain_Drop> aww so my volcano idea is a no go then?
  120. [00:47] <Rain_Drop> back sory stargate movie heheh
  121. [00:47] <Nova_Flux> Well Rain
  122. [00:47] <Nova_Flux> A volcano this far north can be possible
  123. [00:47] <Able_Tome> Well, it cannot be connected with that patch of land, at least
  124. [00:47] <Nova_Flux> But for what we have right now
  125. [00:47] <Nova_Flux> Its a bit to much
  126. [00:47] <Nova_Flux> Its like getting a twinkie
  127. [00:47] <Nova_Flux> and being a cumslut
  128. [00:47] <Nova_Flux> Adding cum to it is just pushing it
  129. [00:47] <Able_Tome> There's some subterrarian activity in Mist Veil, otherwise...
  130. [00:48] <Nova_Flux> That was analogy
  131. [00:48] <Nova_Flux> Eh
  132. [00:48] <Spark_Chaser> Rain had told me she thought of the lorebook being public for GM use. If this is the case, we should have a private lorebook for pre-4c stuff.
  133. [00:48] <Nova_Flux> basically too much doesnt mean good
  134. [00:48] <Nova_Flux> No
  135. [00:48] <Nova_Flux> We need an open lorebook for pre 4c as well
  136. [00:49] <Nova_Flux> so others can see
  137. [00:49] <Able_Tome> Privame... more like 'finalized'
  138. [00:49] <Nova_Flux> Eh
  139. [00:49] <Nova_Flux> When its finalized would be great
  140. [00:49] <Able_Tome> Aka, everything that is final and sureshot is put into it.
  141. [00:49] <Spark_Chaser> Can dig.
  142. [00:49] <Able_Tome> So some things that we are already sure about can be transfered into it, I guess.
  143. [00:50] <Nova_Flux> Yes
  144. [00:50] <Rain_Drop> So a finalized lorebook and a roughdraft lore book?
  145. [00:50] <Spark_Chaser> Yeah.
  146. [00:50] <Chere-tired> some, but not enough for an active volcano. and add ideas, and yeah when finalized. Such as the giant coke pones that rattle underneath the ground, building up pressure more and more each day.... sorry, tired, and yes that will work.
  147. [00:51] <Able_Tome> >dwarf pones
  148. [00:51] <Able_Tome> hue
  149. [00:53] <Chere-tired> so nova can pass as long as we give her a beard? kewl.

  155. [00:58] <Nova_Flux> Yes
  156. [00:58] <Nova_Flux> Look at this pic
  157. [00:58] <Nova_Flux> https://31.media.tumblr.com/519a9bce3ad529ad2e40603681341f20/tumblr_mylrd0sjt61rk9l9xo1_1280.png
  158. [00:58] <Nova_Flux> We should never be this grimdark ever
  159. [00:58] <Nova_Flux> Though it seems like something that would happen if we run low on food and resort to... Meat.
  160. [00:59] <Rain_Drop> um
  161. [00:59] <Rain_Drop> ew
  162. [00:59] <Rain_Drop> also for things we can work on later we can do at  alater date though i wil be busy today and tomorrow with christmas/newyeas
  163. [00:59] <Spark_Chaser> IMO, 4C should always be in the vein of MLP, but not afraid to explore those aspects of its universe that are glossed over.
  164. [01:00] <Spark_Chaser> Not to be grimdark, just not afraid of the dark.
  165. [01:01] <Nova_Flux> Exactly! What we see in the show is clearly not what exactly is going on but it gives us a broad generalization what it is all the time. It would be a bit more gritty and a little more realistic. For instance would we allow cartoon physic?
  166. [01:01] <Chere-tired> g1 is a lot darker yeah
  167. [01:01] <Nova_Flux> G1 is a lot darker. Thanks a lot Feather.
  168. [01:02] <Rain_Drop> hue
  169. [01:02] <Rain_Drop> and i also agree with that theme of thigns Sparky
  170. [01:02] <Rain_Drop> hell that is what i tried to do with most of my quests
  171. [01:02] <Rain_Drop> oh also Able
  172. [01:03] <Able_Tome> Yeap?
  173. [01:03] <Able_Tome> Was filling in some stuff for NPCs there.
  174. [01:04] <Rain_Drop> Would it be viable to TK a punchture wound shut then seal it off either regrowth of the cells or sealing it via heat spell while holding back the blood from leaking into the lungs
  175. [01:04] <Nova_Flux> Would creatures fall under NPCs as well. If they were to show up in a GMs quests more then once?
  176. [01:05] <Nova_Flux> Also what about the throw away NPCs
  177. [01:05] <Nova_Flux> Oh I just realize something about the use of TK in the medical field. Would magic cause any mutation on open wounds?
  178. [01:06] <Chere-tired> probably nova. maybe. for npcs. hmm well we don't have healy magic yet...
  179. [01:06] <Nova_Flux> You know magic makes a glow around an area, could it be possible that an open wound be harmful to it?
  180. [01:06] <Able_Tome> Uhh... TK = moving things around. Maybe some minor stuff, sure, but pones live in a world filled with magic and unicorns constantly using spells, right? Not to mention earth pones and pegasi
  181. [01:07] <Able_Tome> So I think they'd form some sort of a natural defence against it.
  182. [01:07] <Chere-tired> yeah probably maybe
  183. [01:08] <Able_Tome> -If- all magic can cause harmful effects/mutations, that is.
  184. [01:09] <Spark_Chaser> If magic is so intrinsic to pony way of life, I would say that they aren't harmed or changed by its passive aura. Only a direct application with mutagenic intent.
  185. [01:09] <Able_Tome> Healing spells can cause problems, but that's because (at least with what was explained so far) they accelerate tissue growth
  186. [01:10] <Nova_Flux> Yeah the skin is a natural defense...
  187. [01:10] <Spark_Chaser> >they accelerate tissue growth. >That brings up the issue that spells of that sort would actually reduce the life-span of the target if over-used.
  188. [01:10] <Nova_Flux> But what if it doesnt?
  189. [01:10]  * Chere-tired is gonna pass out now
  190. [01:11] <Spark_Chaser> Gnight, sleepy head.
  191. [01:11] == Chere-tired has changed nick to Cheren-sleep
  192. [01:11] <Rain_Drop> inght cher
  193. [01:11] <Cheren-sleep> night
  194. [01:11] <Able_Tome> Yeap, precisely. That was one of the warnings that one of the NPCs mentioned, especially about healing pots. Those healing pots that we've met so far were basically 'enchanted liquids' that mimick healing spells.
  195. [01:11] <Able_Tome> G' night
  196. [01:11] <Rain_Drop> the thing i was wondering since it was naturally intermixed with the pony way of life it either does what was suggested with the whole acclerating life span OR be using the caster own energy to heal it
  197. [01:12] <Able_Tome> Healing spells (in the hands of a skillful unicorn) > healing pots
  198. [01:12] <Spark_Chaser> If it merely replicates cells, rather than enhancing cell division, it would not result in a reduced life-span or mutation.
  199. [01:12] <Rain_Drop> i was also just trying to use the TK as a way to stop blood leaking into a punctured lung then seal the lung then move the glob of blood out of the lung
  200. [01:12] <Able_Tome> Yeah, but thoe IA pots were doing exactly that - enchanting cell division.
  201. [01:12] <Able_Tome> The healing ones, that is.
  202. [01:13] <Able_Tome> Healing spells haven't been explored except for one 'vision' during a quest.
  203. [01:13] <Spark_Chaser> Then it would reduce life-span, by an infinitesimal amount, though.
  204. [01:14] <Rain_Drop> mm well we never really got into the whole thing about the effects of Health pots and their problems did we?
  205. [01:14] <Spark_Chaser> Anybody read the Ravnica books?
  206. [01:15] <Able_Tome> As Lucyne said, iirc, immediate action healing pots (the way she intended them to be) was that their overuse would cause deformities/cancer... and that was one of the reasons why 'healing pots' were a niche market and they haven't pushed back Equestrian hospitals out of the business
  207. [01:15] <Able_Tome> So... they act as an emergency universal tools that can be used by anyone (meaning you don't need a mage), but that's basically it - emergency use
  208. [01:16] <Spark_Chaser> Yeah.
  209. [01:16] <Rain_Drop> mm
  210. [01:17] <Spark_Chaser> Also, there may be another side-effect.
  211. [01:18] <Nova_Flux> The side-effect could be based off ot possiblity. Maybe a more pure potion will result in a reduce chance of a side effect
  212. [01:18] <Spark_Chaser> There was a similar concept used in the Ravnica books from MTG. A character was addicted to healing items called teardrops.
  213. [01:18] <Spark_Chaser> He was also building up an immunity to magical healing.
  214. [01:18] <Spark_Chaser> It made his body wear out faster.
  215. [01:18] <Rain_Drop> So it would work out as the emergcecny use thing ok i can see that what would hospitals do then earth like psudo medicne with the equivalent tech levels?
  216. [01:18] <Rain_Drop> Magic healing that doest have that fedback?
  217. [01:19] <Rain_Drop> Or pure plastic masrchmellowy retunring?
  218. [01:19] <Able_Tome> Well, we have several things in play
  219. [01:20] <Able_Tome> 1st our natural regeneration is rediculous as fuck
  220. [01:20] <Able_Tome> You remember how long it taken RD to grow her bones back in the hospital?
  221. [01:20] <Rain_Drop> true
  222. [01:20] <Rain_Drop> bout waht 3 days?
  223. [01:20] <Able_Tome> Yeah.
  224. [01:21] <Able_Tome> So that would already influence medical practices
  225. [01:22] <Able_Tome> 2nd, magical healing has a conscious user, meaning that a trained unicorn medic might actually 'replicate' cells like Spark said, instead of accelerating regrowth
  226. [01:22] <Rain_Drop> meaning they would take the laid back approach then with miniumum amount of interferance?
  227. [01:23] <Able_Tome> I see that as a possibility for most minor traumas, yeah.
  228. [01:24] <Able_Tome> 3rd we've received 'antibiotics', 'vaccines' and other medicine, meaning that they do have remedies
  229. [01:24] <Rain_Drop> NOw with the 2nd bit would that htne mean we have the cells regenerated then?
  230. [01:24] <Rain_Drop> or use the casters magic to in essence replicate the cells?
  231. [01:24] <Able_Tome> And that there are bacterial/viral infections that can go around entire 'healing' factor
  232. [01:24] <Spark_Chaser> We also have to consider the "magnet hands" effect their hooves have. All ponies definitely have intrinsic magical qualities, which might explain the healing factor. Don't do much, and the magic will accelerate your healing. Do a lot, and you won't heal fast at all. With application of skilled magic, drugs, and proper medicine, you're good as new in a few days.
  233. [01:25] <Able_Tome> ^ I like the idea behind activity dependant healing here
  234. [01:26] <Able_Tome> Might also explain why we're allowed to have an additional 'self-healing' roll in the clinic
  235. [01:26] <Spark_Chaser> Yup.
  236. [01:26] <Spark_Chaser> You could also have them actively focusing their intrinsic magic to heal faster. That's the self-heal roll.
  237. [01:26] <Rain_Drop> so activity amounts affect heal times as well then?
  238. [01:27] <Rain_Drop> mm sounds rather cool
  239. [01:27] <Able_Tome> More like your physical activities/straining pours intristic magical reserves into 'environment'/tasks that you perform
  240. [01:27] <Able_Tome> While resting, you accumulate more of it
  241. [01:27] <Spark_Chaser> yeah.
  242. [01:27] <Rain_Drop> now thing i have to add is if the casters and such medical doctores and things like that would we have earthies giving medicnes that help boast that magical regneration or counter act said bacterias and such that prevent the heal?
  243. [01:28] <Able_Tome> So more of it can be spent on bodily/regenerative functions
  244. [01:29] <Able_Tome> Pretty much, Rain... Unicorns are presumably only 1/3 of population and most of them are not even in the field of 'medicine' or 'magic'
  245. [01:30] <Spark_Chaser> Also, there was some discussion earlier that mana was gathered into a Pony based off of social interaction (Friendship is Magic). Having lots of visitors and caring doctors could flood more energy into the patient, advancing their healing further.
  246. [01:30] <Able_Tome> So there would be other measures.
  247. [01:32] <Able_Tome> Might be the case. Positive interaction and social ties affecting/bolstering pone in question.
  248. [01:35] <Rain_Drop> hehe that actually sounds kinda cool so amybe a rule like every 3 visitors you get  afree health rule you know?
  249. [01:36] <Spark_Chaser> Also, since this natural healing factor is based off natural healing (cell division) it would normally shorten lifespan, but since the cellular metabolism can be modified magically, it is also possible that magic can retard the metabolism, which makes it so that they have longer lives.
  250. [01:37] <Able_Tome> Heh
  251. [01:38] <Spark_Chaser> Explains why the sisters have lived for a millenium.
  252. [01:38] <Able_Tome> Making pones actually want to abstain from conflict
  253. [01:38] <Spark_Chaser> And why they value harmony as their greatest means of defense.
  254. [01:38] <Able_Tome> Just a thought to entertain - maybe many centuries ago they've noticed that in-fights shorten their life-time
  255. [01:39] <Able_Tome> *lifespan
  256. [01:39] <Spark_Chaser> And we haven't picked up on this yet, so we could actually be slowly killing ourselves with all our bickering.
  257. [01:40] <Spark_Chaser> It's so ingrained in their culture, they forgot about it, so they never told us.
  258. [01:40] <Able_Tome> Not to mention abuse of magical artifacts
  259. [01:41] <Rain_Drop> Abuse of magical artifacts?
  260. [01:41] <Rain_Drop> You mean like nixs thing with the horn?
  261. [01:42] <Able_Tome> Magic in general.
  262. [01:42] <Able_Tome> Those amulets that 'harden' skin
  263. [01:42] <Able_Tome> Pots, magical berries
  264. [01:43] <Spark_Chaser> We use it like a toy, because our fantasy stories treat it like that. To them, it is vital to life, and something that should be treated with respect.
  265. [01:43] <Able_Tome> Horn, over casting magic (dat unicorn straining)
  266. [01:43] <Rain_Drop> so what would that mean the mane 6 happen to have issue with reducing thier life span with the figthing?
  267. [01:43] <Able_Tome> hue, >inb4 only Celestia knows
  268. [01:44] <Spark_Chaser> But, they reinforce each others inflow of mana because of being awesome friends, and being very active in their community.
  269. [01:44] <Able_Tome> But yeah, basically what Spark says: magic is not a toy, but many of pones in 4C 'respect' it as if it's a toy
  270. [01:44] <Spark_Chaser> It's why they can't have one defender, they need two-six.
  271. [01:45] <Rain_Drop> so lemme get this stright this version would work that you literally spend your life span with fighting but by being involved in your community and having your allies to back you up you revitalize eachother either by living forever OR being able to keep your normal life span?
  272. [01:45] <Rain_Drop> Then about those who age? or the ones who er die what then in show cannon i mean?
  273. [01:46] <Able_Tome> It's more about accelerating or slowing age down, I think
  274. [01:46] <Able_Tome> I still think Celly/Luna would be exceptions, but they'd be connected with this somehow... maybe..
  275. [01:47] <Spark_Chaser> Normal ponies may not have as much activity in their community (and thus, influx) as those who have become main characters. Those that become ageless are those that are alicorns, partially fused with magic itself.
  276. [01:47]  * Nova_Flux is going to bed soon
  277. [01:47] <Nova_Flux> I call for more edge plz
  278. [01:47] <Spark_Chaser> Eh?
  279. [01:48] <Nova_Flux> Sorry I'm tired. I get a bit more edgy and I went on a grimdark bender on tumblr
  280. [01:49] <Spark_Chaser> lol
  281. [01:49] <Rain_Drop> kek
  282. [01:50] <Rain_Drop> anyway i have to ask maybe waht they are connected to via their CM would be partially why they have that immortalnesss and the whole er sorry stargate thing watchign it and all
  283. [01:51] <Rain_Drop> but if they are connected to a aspect that is timeliess then maybe it would makese more sense for them to be more pwerful in the sense of connceting to the imoortal ness/ be more active in community
  284. [01:51] <Rain_Drop> so active in community plus something huge / or just mysterious period would result in alicornification
  285. [01:51] <Rain_Drop> hence sun moon and magic/learning
  286. [01:52] <Able_Tome> Also love~
  287. [01:52] <Rain_Drop> that too
  288. [01:52] <Rain_Drop> heheh
  289. [01:52] <Rain_Drop> if this was a shonen you can be that Shining Armor would be the ichigo of MLP
  290. [01:52] <Able_Tome> Wait, wasn't Twi's friendship or smth?
  291. [01:53] <Rain_Drop> 10 bucks says he would be what wit his CM being protect protect protect
  292. [01:53] <Rain_Drop> er no in the show she said something llike really good at learning magic
  293. [01:53] <Able_Tome> >protect them from themselves
  294. [01:53] <Rain_Drop> friendship was what she chose to study and its magic
  295. [01:53] <Able_Tome> hue
  296. [01:54] <Spark_Chaser> I saw MMC as being her absorbing the focused energy of the elements of harmony, which then forced her to ascend due to excessive mana. She became a giant star of magic, which then incarnated again as her alicorn form.
  297. [01:56] <Rain_Drop> hm that would make sesn the beam of magic was being sent TO her not away right?
  298. [01:56] <Able_Tome> Incarnate again, eh? Those rebirth theories, eh?
  299. [01:56] <Spark_Chaser> incarnate=made flesh. Not rebirth or reincarnation.
  300. [01:57] <Able_Tome> Yeah, I getcha. That bit just reminded about those talks of >they killed Twi and she reincarnated into new form
  301. [01:58] <Able_Tome> The ones after MMC was showed, heh
  302. [01:59] <Spark_Chaser> It would be like the old style planeswalkers from magic the gathering. They took on a physical form, but it wasn't really them. It was just a shell they used to communicate with the world. In her case, though, she still hasn't fully grasped her newfound connection, and Celi had to force her to incarnate. She is now going to work her way up to the sisters' level.
  303. [02:00] <Rain_Drop> ok so how would that work with everyone else or is it possible through determination of the CM magic itself?
  304. [02:01] <Able_Tome> Heh... CM magic's also quite a thing, considering that there are several jarring things that were showcased in the show
  305. [02:02] <Able_Tome> On one side you have AB who was imued with new 'talents' out of thin air
  306. [02:02] <Able_Tome> On the other side you have MMC where 'changed' CMs weren't giving that much of a talent, yet they were influencing the way pones were trying to 'act'
  307. [02:03] <Able_Tome> Additionally you have Flutterbat CM change in the last episode
  308. [02:04] <Rain_Drop> Three different things the showed it..
  309. [02:04] <Rain_Drop> maybe all mixed together toexplain then we can implement it or leave alone depending onwath we all decide
  310. [02:04] <Spark_Chaser> It may require you to have a particular bent for it. Her element was magic, that is to say, not taking anything for granted. She was the activator for the EoH, and it was represented in her CM as a series of stars around one larger one.
  311. [02:05] <Spark_Chaser> As such, she was already attuned to the Magic of Friendship.
  312. [02:05] <Spark_Chaser> And was able to ascend more easily than others.
  313. [02:05] <Spark_Chaser> Due to the Mane 6 being heavily aligned to their element,
  314. [02:06] <Spark_Chaser> It may be possible, but hard, for them as well.
  315. [02:06] <Rain_Drop> on the first have it be that the CM had been confused by the potions signal that she was needing a CM and had found it OR be that something else had happen
  316. [02:06] <Rain_Drop> hmm
  317. [02:06] <Rain_Drop> ueah i could see that
  318. [02:07] <Rain_Drop> soor near the end  and it distracting
  319. [02:07] <Rain_Drop> ><
  320. [02:08] <Rain_Drop> But the CM magic force if you want to call it could be OMnipresent but fallablelike a computer program where it can be fooled and can be sued to upgrade or be altered by other program strains
  321. [02:08] <Rain_Drop> AS for the girls being able to accend in that sense where their CMC and their elements reflecitng it that would work
  322. [02:09] <Spark_Chaser> The problem of MMC could have been caused by altering the flow and "flavor" of the magic within them, thus altering their expression of magic and the pony's nature.
  323. [02:09] <Able_Tome> The problem with the 'computer program' analogy is what controls what
  324. [02:09] <Able_Tome> CM is 'visual representation' of a 'talent/attunement'
  325. [02:10] <Able_Tome> And there's a CM magic that seem to influence how someone acts or even -link- someone with a talent/skill... or -not-.
  326. [02:10] <Rain_Drop> er yeah i can see that most dont like the idea of something ordering them to do
  327. [02:11] <Rain_Drop> well in that case couldnt you argue that its simlair to instincts then?
  328. [02:11] <Spark_Chaser> It's like how we get really cranky when we're sick. Something has changed our chemical makeup, which makes us do strange things.
  329. [02:11] <Rain_Drop> Like the talents give you a set of ideas of how it works and stuff
  330. [02:12] <Able_Tome> Yeah, but normally after CMs appearance it stays like that without changing
  331. [02:12] <Rain_Drop> and it gives you the urge to try them out and such while doing them
  332. [02:12] <Spark_Chaser> Well, the CM shows up after you figure out your talent. More like discovering that one application of your magic that maximizes its efficient use.
  333. [02:12] <Able_Tome> That cutiepox disease that was mentioned was bringing in a possibility of someone getting 'overloaded' with skills/talents that they can't control
  334. [02:13] <Rain_Drop> unless magic occurs to change that i gues
  335. [02:13] <Able_Tome> But they seem to appear out of nowhere
  336. [02:13] <Able_Tome> Alright, so CM shows up when you figure it out... so what does it represents then?
  337. [02:14] <Able_Tome> Mental space? Self-awareness?
  338. [02:14] <Spark_Chaser> It's like the voltimeter saying you have a flow of power.
  339. [02:15] <Spark_Chaser> Ding! Magic's done!
  340. [02:15] <Able_Tome> Hm... alright. This would mean that this 'power' was there from the very beginning
  341. [02:15] <Able_Tome> ... or not?
  342. [02:16] <Spark_Chaser> You just had to figure out how to use it right. Its based on you. We can see this in Spark Chaser, his explosions come rather naturally, so it may be his talent. But he isn't using it right, so...
  343. [02:16] <Spark_Chaser> Also he's human pone, so no mark.
  344. [02:17] <Able_Tome> Ok, then what about CM-based diseases like cutiepox?
  345. [02:17] <Spark_Chaser> Bacteria altering the flavor of your magic, changing its efficient flow, and making it so that it's in overdrive.
  346. [02:17] <Spark_Chaser> EVERYTHING becomes an efficient use of power.
  347. [02:17] <Spark_Chaser> Bit by bit.
  348. [02:18] <Able_Tome> But suddenly knowing how to perform something that you've never knew how? Or scarecly knew?
  349. [02:18] <Able_Tome> *scarcely
  350. [02:19] <Spark_Chaser> Have you ever been in a group chant before?
  351. [02:19] <Spark_Chaser> You don't know how to harmonize, it just happens.
  352. [02:20] <Able_Tome> Well yes, group chants = amplifying coordination and getting 'in the zone' with an activity
  353. [02:20] <Able_Tome> A group chant, however, won't teach you how to do something new
  354. [02:21] <Able_Tome> Then again, we don't know what AB knew/tried at that point
  355. [02:22] <Able_Tome> Maybe some of those 'talents' that popped out from the pot were something that she tried in the past?
  356. [02:24] <Spark_Chaser> There could also be the possibility of "going with the flow". The magic is flowing out, and wants to express itself efficiently, so it forces the body to do it, like a hose flopping about because of water pressure.
  357. [02:25] == Rain_Drop [[email protected]] has quit [Ping timeout: 380 seconds]
  358. [02:29] <Spark_Chaser> So, shall we collect what we've discussed?
  359. [02:32] <Spark_Chaser> We know now that the "volcanic activity" under Mist Veil is more of a magma pocket or sulfur vent. We have discussed at length the interaction of magic on healing, aging, and the expression of the Cutie Mark. We are still discussing the Cutie Mark's interaction with personal skill and ability.
  360. [02:32] <Able_Tome> Hmm... alrighty.
  361. [02:33] <Able_Tome> Just need to read through some submissions on the side. Should we format a post for the thread?
  362. [02:34] <Spark_Chaser> Hmmm. Well, we haven't actually decided on anything but the volcanism of our territory, The rest needs to be voted on to be legit. We shouldn't make an announcement until it has been ratified.
  363. [02:34] <Spark_Chaser> This is, so far, just discussion between the three of us.
  364. [02:35] <Spark_Chaser> We'll document this, and put it with a summary on the voting sheets.
  365. [02:35] <Able_Tome> Eh, sure. At the same time we can just post what topics were discussed so that people would spit-ball their ideas, perhaps?
  366. [02:35] <Spark_Chaser> Yeah, that would be good.
  367. [02:36] <Able_Tome> Alright. Either of us can format the post for it then. Though I need to get some food now
  368. [02:37] <Spark_Chaser> Go eat.
