- >Day ??? in ???
- >You are Anon.
- >You are laying face down on something hard trying to sleep.
- >Last night was a bad night for you.
- >You remember leaving home, getting drunk off your ass and wandering aimlessly the whole night.
- >You blacked out about an hour in to your binging.
- >You are barely conscious.
- >You are trying to fix that problem right now.
- >'Anon?'
- >You slowly open your eyes.
- “...Hello?”
- >You try to push your body up.
- >Your hand grabs a lot of dirt.
- >Guess you knocked out in a park somewhere.
- “Ugh... hello?”
- >'Hey'
- >The voice echoes a bit.
- >You look around, trying to find the source of it.
- “Hello? Is anybody here?”
- >'I'm right here Anon'
- >He sounds close.
- “Where? I can't see you.”
- >'Well duh, I'm inside you'
- >... oh good god no
- >You turn, shaking as you look to see if anyone is behind you
- >Oh good, no one's there... and your pants are on too.
- “Ha, good one. Seriously though, where are you?”
- >'Uh... in your head?'
- >Okay, this has got to stop.
- “Look, come out, this stopped being funny the first try”
- >'Anon, I am IN. YOUR. HEAD. Look, let me show you.'
- >Hnnngh! Ow ow OW! Your head started hurting, like a 3' deep screw being forced into your head
- “Ahhh! Stop it! S-stop it!”
- >The pain stops. You are on your knees panting.
- >'See? Would I be able to do that if I wasn't in your head?'
- “Yes! I mean... maybe?”
- >This guy is claiming to be in your head, how is that even possible?
- >... You're dreaming.
- >You drank way too much last night and you are asleep.
- >Pfft, it all makes sense now. The pain was probably just from your hangover and the voice is in your head because you're asleep.
- >You can't help but chuckle as you stand and shake your pants off.
- “Oh man... I am such an idiot. So voice in my head; do you have a name?”
- >'Yeah, I'm your brain. Nice to meet you!'
- “And nice to meet you brain, pfff. So, how long have you been in my head?”
- 1/6
- >You start to walk off in a random direction, looking for something to make this dream a bit more interesting.
- >'I don't know... I think your whole life, but I just noticed I was here and could talk to you a couple hours ago.'
- “Oh, that's interesting. So the moment I pass out, you can suddenly speak with me?”
- >You chuckle and find a small cliff.
- >'Yeah, wonder why that is. Wait… You still don't believe me.'
- “Not in the slightest. I don't even believe I am awake right now.”
- >You look over the cliff for anything that looks interesting but all you see is more trees.
- >'So the fact you could feel pain? Doesn't pain usually mean you AREN'T asleep?'
- “I have had hangovers before; I have learned to sleep through them. I still feel the pain though, but it isn't strong enough to wake me up.”
- >The voice sighs and relents, letting you explore this dark and humid forest.
- “Any idea how to get out of here?”
- >'... Yeah, it's back the way you came.'
- “Thanks brain.”
- >You head back to the spot where you woke up and take a deep breath of this clear and fresh air.
- >Funny, living in the city you normally never get air this clear... maybe you did fall asleep in a park somewhere.
- >You look around for any paths and see something buried where you were laying.
- >You brush off the dirt and find your old bat! Man, you haven't pulled this thing out in ages.
- >'Whats that?'
- “It's the bat my father gave me when I was a kid. I haven't used it in years!”
- >You give it a good swing and sigh
- “Good times... So! Where to now?”
- >'I unno'
- “You said you knew how to get out of here.”
- >'Right, and we aren't HERE anymore, here is over there... where you were. Now we are over here, where we started'
- >You sigh and bring the tip of the bat to your shoulder, looking around.
- “Let's see, moss leads north... right? Find some moss, keep heading north, and maybe I can find some people or something.”
- 2/6
- >'It's... a plan, not a very smart one, but it is a plan. So, see any moss?'
- >You look on the bark of each tree surrounding you only to find they are all bare.
- >You rub the back of your head and shrug.
- ”Maybe.. use the sun? It rises in the east and sets in the west. It looks like it's still rising so north should be-”
- >-Aroooooooo!-
- >'... That, that didn't sound like a friendly kind of howl. You may want to run buddy.'
- “Why? Not like anything here can hurt me”
- >You face what you believe to be north and start to walk. Your calm demeanor remaining unchanged
- >'God damn, this is not a dream! I am real! You don't have a hangover and those were real wolf howls! Your life is in danger you idiot!'
- “Brain, there is no way this can't be a dream. You are talking to me, my bat was just lying on the ground when I left it in my attic, and there is a Pegasus flying overhead.”
- >You then point to the airborne horse above you and sigh. Maybe you would have given him the benefit of the doubt, but that last impossibility sealed the deal.
- >'Pega-what? How... okay okay, there is a flying horse. I know that SOUNDS impossible, but you have to believe me! There are vicious animals that will tear you to shreds man!'
- >You ignore the voice and just keep walking. It's nice out and you won't let some paranoid dream thing ruin your time here before you wake up.
- >You walk for about five minutes before you hear a rustling in the bushes besides you.
- >*Grrrrrrr*
- >You look over and see a pair of wolves emerge
- >There is something clearly off about them though. They are wooden.
- “See? Wooden wolves. Kinda look like puppets”
- >'Anon! Will you quit denying the possibility that this isn't a dream?!? If you die, I die! And you are clearly about to die if you don't get your head out of your ass and take this seriously!'
- >Nagging... you can't help but notice the irony that if the roles were switched you would be doing the same thing this guy is... hell, no harm in humoring him.
- 3/6
- “All right. Maybe this isn't a dream. I am pretty sure I can handle a couple of wolves made of wood, even without my bat.”
- >You lift your arm and give it a couple or swings before looking at the wolves.
- “Sorry guys, but my BRAIN is telling me you are going to try and kill me... so kind of have to protect myself. No hard feelings, okay?'
- >As you take a batting stance the wolves growl and bark at you. They circle around you and begin to close in.
- >The one on your left pounces.
- >You quickly bring your bat down on it's skull and it smashes to pieces!
- >Among the pieces is a large gas cloud. You are unlucky enough to get a face full of the stuff.
- “Oh fuck! It smells like rancid fish with old garbage sludge!”
- >You start to heave and the second one jumps at your leg, ripping your pants and leaving a shallow streak from it's claws against your skin.
- >Jesus, that actually hurt!
- >In a panic you bring your bat to the side of the wolfs head and beash at it's skull until it is in as many pieces as it's partner.
- >The gas shoots up again; you cover your mouth and shut your eyes.
- >You take a moment to make sure you are safe before turning to your attention to your leg.
- “O... Oh no... no no no... this isn't a dream...”
- >You bring a hand to your leg.
- >You seethe as a small stinging sensation runs up your leg. A couple of drops of your blood leak from the wound. It's wet, warmish.
- >'See? Now do you believe me Anon?'
- >You fall flat on your ass and your eyes start to run over your surroundings.
- “Y...You're really my brain... that was a real Pegasus, and those were real wolves made of wood!”
- >You are hyperventilating, chest heaving and hands dropping your bat to grab your head.
- >You start to feel hot drops of water ride down your cheeks.
- “Whats going on... where am I? Oh god, what happened? Why... why why why.”
- >You try to remember what happened last night, find out how you might have gotten here.
- 4/6
- >You and your now ex had a fight, you left and went on a binge. You remember blacking out after the third bar and then waking up face down in that clearing.
- >All sorts of scenarios start to form from the large blank in the events that happened last night. None of them make you feel any easier.
- >'Anon? Hate to bother you, since you are kind of having an emotional breakdown... but we gotta go.'
- >He's right... Just because you are freaking your shit doesn't mean any other wolves or whatever that show up are going to stop and let your work it out. You grab your bat and make a bee line through the forest, trying to get out as soon as possible.
- >The sun is starting to set. You are tired, dirty, and smell. You have been running through this forest for hours and have yet to find any water or something that looks even remotely edible.
- >During this time you talked a bit with the voice claiming to be your brain. You found out you don't have to speak to communicate with him, that he is kind of trollish when he isn't trying to save your ass, and that he has no idea where you are either.
- >Your stomach growls
- >You groan and grip it in retaliation.
- >'I don't think it's a good idea to be running around the forest at night with an empty. You should stop for now Anon.'
- >You sigh and look around.
- >Nothing around you looks safe in the slightest.
- >You let your head drop a little and go for a cave that isn't too far off.
- >You find a nice little corner in it and curl into a ball.
- 5/6
- >'Want to talk? Take your mind off things so you can try and sleep?'
- >Sure... have a name brain?
- >'No, just a brain. I am your brain, -you- get the name Anon.'
- >Oh... how much do you remember?
- >'About what Anon?'
- >I guess in general, from my history, from being -born-.
- >'Hmm, well, I remember all you remember. Even stuff you don't think you do. I was born a couple hours before you woke up, so all of my memories as a being are less than a day old.'
- >Huh, that's neat... think we're alone in this world?
- >'Alone?'
- >I mean are we the only non-feral beings around.
- >'I don't know, I hope not.'
- >... Brain?
- >'Yeah?'
- >You have all my memories, right?
- >'Yeah.'
- >Can you remember one of my Anthropology or history class lessons?
- >'In perfect detail.'
- >Can you give me a review?
- >'Heh, sure. Let's see; how about allele's? If you are still up, we will work from there.'
- >Thanks...
- >'All right, allele's are -muffled speech- with locus -muffled speech- a gene-muffled speech-'
- >Just like in class... you can't help but slowly nod off, your brain continuing the lesson for you long past you have drifted off.
- >Your dreams aren't much better than your reality right now. You are still wandering the forest in your dream.
- >In fact... this feel worse, you feel like you are being stalked right now. As if something is in the shadows watching you... waiting
- >You hope the sun comes up soon...
