  1. >Day Connections in Equestria
  2. >You are Anon.
  3. >You just found out you have been laid off from your job as a steel miller.
  4. >'Hey, you think Pinkie will come through on her dare to give you a dozen free doughuts?'
  5. >You aren't freaking out too bad, you have some bits saved up and can scrounge for a bit. Afterwards, you aren't sure what will happen then.
  6. >'I could really go for something sweet. That muffin Derpy gave us was good, but not the kind of sugar rush I was hoping for.'
  7. >You pace back and forth, thinking of possible plans.
  8. >'Are you listening to me? Dude, doughnuts.'
  9. 'How is this not bothering you?!? I-I just basically got fired from the only place that would hire me, and you are more worried about doughnuts!'
  10. >'Would... would hire you; past tense.'
  11. >You stop and take a deep breath.
  12. 'What do you mean brain?'
  13. >'They WERE the only ponies who would hire you. Back when you were an alien to them. Now? I am sure you can find somepony else who will hire you. Besides, you hated that place when you started. Remember how they worked you like a dog? It wasn't until you bulked up and could handle the processing department that you started liking it.'
  14. >You pause and think.
  15. >The job you had was demanding and they paid you 'minimum wage', if they even have that here. Aside from Steel Bar, each of your coworkers were gruff and kind of pricks. Perhaps this could be a good thing, a new start with an employer that won't abuse your situation.
  16. 'All right, maybe this isn't as bad as I thought.'
  17. >'Exactly, now can we please go get some free doughnuts? You made some stupid decisions last night, but that dare was fucking genius!'
  18. >Last night... oh fuck
  19. 'I drank a bit much, didn't I?'
  20. >'Just a bit, drunk plus horny don't mix well. Remember that onenightstand back on Earth? Desperation has never looked more sad.'
  21. 'Ugh... I should talk with the girls, huh? Clear the air, make it known I am not looking to rush into anything that won't last.'
  22. >'Yes, yes you should. Especially Lyra, she has wanted the D for a loooong time Anon.'
  23. 'She said she would wait.'
  24. >'That was BEFORE the tongue wrestling you two shared. Just reiterate what you want. Better safe than sorry.'
  25. 'Okay, I also should check and see if AJ can use a pair of hands... so to speak.'
  26. >'Plus you could probably help some of the other ponies with oddjobs for some scratch.'
  27. >You sigh and try to lift your hands above your head, the sling reminds you your left hand still needs a bit of down time.
  28. >'One more week, then you'll have a set of bad ass scars and access to your left hand again. Looking forward to being able to jack off?'
  29. 'Fuck off.'
  30. >'No, I'm serious. You are pent up man, I can tell. Which might explain your sudden lust for pony ass.'
  31. 'It's not sudden and it isn't just lust... well, it is lust right now, but I do feel I could handle an inter-species relationship.'
  32. >'Make that decision AFTER you're thinking with the right head.'
  33. >You let out a disgruntled groan and relent.
  34. 'Fine, I'll make the final decision after I jack it. Just answer me this; why are you always switching between being okay with an inter-species relationship and not? I am fine with it now, I just don't want it to be forced. You on the other hand keep switching sides. One hour you want me to plow a mare, the next it's taboo! Seriously, what the actual hell?'
  35. >'I... I don't do that.'
  36. 'Yeah, you do. Whenever it looks like I am about to give an emotional or physical inch, you smack it down. It happened with Lyra when she started to show an interest and she wasn't even trying to rape me!'
  37. >'I don't know man... I'm sorry. It's just, I can't describe it.'
  38. 'Try. I was okay with you being paranoid when Fluttershy was around and trying to force herself on me, but she isn't here anymore.'
  39. >'Okay, okay! The best I can describe it is that it's in my nature. I poke fun of it yeah, but when it comes to the real deal it feels like I don't want you taking that leap... No, more like I can't'
  40. 'Why? What would be wrong with having an intimate partner again, or possibly falling in love with a mare?'
  41. >'I don't know... I look at it from a logical stand point and can't see anything wrong since you are okay with an inter-species thing. Like I said though, something in my nature is fighting it.'
  42. >You sigh, none of what your brain is saying is making any sense to you. Shouldn't your nature be his nature too? It always felt that way when Fluttershy was around. Maybe it was just you thinking it was the same because of a shared goal...
  43. >'... Look, I'm sorry. I've been pissing you off a lot lately, I don't mean too. I promised to try and keep the rude under better control, I'll try to keep my paranoia in check too... just... be happy man, all right? Even if it isn't what I want.'
  44. 'Thanks... Brain?'
  45. >'Yeah Anon?'
  46. 'Lets go get us some free doughnuts.'
  47. >'Yay... Oh, grab the book bag?'
  48. 'Right, still need to give Applebloom her book.... in which case, should we head to Sweet Apple Acres first, or into town?'
  49. >'Sweet Apple Acres is closer. Let's knock that out before we forget, and ask AJ about that part time job thing.'
  50. >With everything settled you do the triple S, get changed, grab the book bag, and set off to Sweet Apple Acres.
  51.
  52.
  53. >It's still fairly early when you arrive at Sweet Apple Acres, no later than 9:30.
  54. >You step onto the familiar orchard. The fall weather paints it's long rows of trees a beautiful mixture of red, orange, brown, and yellow. You stop and take in the beauty it has to offer.
  55. >”Mr. Anon!”
  56. >Your moment of appreciation has to be cut short as an excited filly rushes you.
  57. >”What're ya doin' here? Ah thought ya had work!”
  58. >'Ooh, low blow.'
  59. “Heh, not today Applebloom. I'm not going in today so I thought I would bring you this.”
  60. >You pull out her book and hand it to her.
  61. >”Ah was wonderin' where it was! Ah thought ah misplaced it.”
  62. “No, it was with me, forgot to give it back before I left last night.”
  63. >She takes the book and places it on the ground next to her.
  64. >”Thank ya Mr. Anon! Ah really needed it today.”
  65. >You take a knee and chuckle.
  66. “Oh? Working on something?”
  67. >The filly smiles and nods.
  68. >”Uh huh, it's a surprise though.”
  69. >You pet her head and stand.
  70. “Do you happen to know where Big Mac or AJ are? I was hoping to talk with them.”
  71. >Applebloom points to the barn.
  72. >”Last ah saw, they were both headin' ta tha fields.”
  73. >One more pet, the kid deserves it.
  74. “Thanks Applebloom, see you before I leave.”
  75. >You start off to the barn.
  76. >”See ya Mr. Anon!”
  77. >You wave without looking back, in a bit of a rush.
  78. >The walk gives you time to think. How should you ask for a favor like this?
  79. >'Maybe the direct route? Hi AJ! Can I work for your family until I can find a steady paying job where I won't be discriminated against?'
  80. 'That might work, if I cut out the asshole part.'
  81. >You look around the barn and see if anyone is around.
  82. >Not a soul.
  83. >You head around the back and see a tree shaking, apples falling from it's branches.
  84. >'Bingo.'
  85. >You head to the direction of the shaking tree.
  86. >It only takes a moment before a red stallion and orange mare come into your field of vision.
  87. “Hey!”
  88. >Your voice grabs their attention as AJ is in mid-buck.
  89. >”Well, ain't ya a sight fer sore eyes. Howdy Anon!”
  90. >”Howdy.”
  91. >You wave at the apple siblings and walk next to them.
  92. “AJ, Big Mac... I have a difficult favor to ask.”
  93. >You sigh and try to meet both their gazes. When that fails you just look to the ground.
  94. “I was laid off, I am out of a job.”
  95. >”What? O-oh my, Sugarcube, are ya-will ya be all right?”
  96. >You nod.
  97. “I have enough bits saved to last a couple months if I am frugal. I don't plan on living just a couple months though... so, I want to ask. Would you two be willing to hire me on, even temporarily or part time?”
  98. >You raise your gaze. The two apple siblings look too each other and give uncertain looks.
  99. >”Anon... we would love ta have ya workin' with us, it's gonna be winter soon. Ah'm afraid that tha farm isn't doin' well enough for us ta hire anypony right now though... A-ah'm sorry.”
  100. >You sigh and nod.
  101. “I understand and I appreciate the consideration. I hope you all do better soon, for your families sake, not mine.”
  102. >Big Mac looks at you.
  103. >”Sorry, Pardner.”
  104. >You give a weak smile back.
  105. >'Shit, was hoping they would say yes. Now we'll have to bring this awkward request all over Ponyville.'
  106. 'Yeah... Well, that's one awkward topic cleared.'
  107. “Applejack? Do you have a moment to speak... alone?”
  108. >AJ looks to Big Mac. He nods and heads deeper into the orchard.
  109. >”Ah take it this conversation is unrelated ta tha employment one.”
  110. “Yeah... it's about last night. How I acted. I just wanted to apologize, in case I offended or made you feel uncomfortable.”
  111. >AJ blushes and looks away, rubbing her hoof.
  112. >”Ya didn't. All of us were a lil' tipsy. Anything that woulda happened... heh, it wouldn't have been yer fault sugarcube.”
  113. >You let out a sigh of relief and hope the rest of your apologies go this smooth.
  114. “Still though, I acted like a bit of... a polygamist.”
  115. >”A what now Anon?”
  116. “Polygamist, a guy who plays around with multiple girls.”
  117. >The -good time- expression on AJ's face is replaced by one of surprise.
  118. >”Ya mean... like if ya had a herd?”
  119. >'Oh right, Lyra never told us what that is. Should we ask AJ?'
  120. 'Looks like it's a polygamist, or something similar. A definite answer would be good to have though.'
  121. “Lyra mentioned that word last night. She said I should claim one. What does that mean?”
  122. >The mare's cheeks change from a dark orange to pure red, something you have seen happen only in this world.
  123. >”A-a herd is a... w-when, ah mean.”
  124. >She clears her throat and takes her stetson off, waving it against her.
  125. “Do you need a minute?”
  126. >She nods and exhales slowly.
  127. >”Oooooh boy. Anon, ya just put me in a very awkward position. Ah mean, explainin' somethin' like this to a grown man? Heh, okay... okay, ah can do this.”
  128. >'She's the one in an awkward position?'
  129. >She takes a deep breath, places her stetson back on her head, and looks at you. She is serious.
  130. >”A herd is an old form a marriage when there were a lot more mares ta stallions. Stallions would take several wives 'n protect 'em from other stallions. Ya see, back in tha early days of pony history, if a mare got pregnant 'n didn't have a stallion, she would have ta... mate... with every stallion around ta insure her child would survive. If a stallion didn't think a child was his, he would... get rid of it. 'N since there were a lot more mares ta stallions...”
  131. >AJ is tearing up, she must not like even talking about children losing their lives, let alone knowing her ancestors might have done such a horrible action.
  132. >'Dude... that's just... killing kids? No way...'
  133. >You hug her, stroking down her mane.
  134. “It's okay, I think I get it. A herd insured that a mare had a stallion to look after her child, right?”
  135. >She sniffles and nods.
  136. >”Only tha stronger stallions could have a herd. They needed ta protect every mare's children or lose em.”
  137. “Why would Lyra suggest I take one then?”
  138. >AJ pulls herself off, calming down.
  139. >”Herds nowadays 're uncommon, but still around. They changed their purpose. As ponies turned civilized, they realized how digustin' they were actin'. They started ta settle on one mare ta one stallion n' tha... eliminatin' stopped. Herds now 're simply a way a sayin' that a stallion has more than one wife.”
  140. >You sigh.
  141. “So Lyra suggested I become a polygamist?”
  142. >AJ nods, breathing normally and tears stopped.
  143. >”Ah reckon. She must think ya have several mares ya fancy... Heh, silly thing ta assume, right Anon?”
  144. >It would be, if you hadn't told her exactly that last night.
  145. “... AJ, I told her at the party I was interested in several mares.”
  146. >'Aaaand you just come out and say it. Smart, smart move. Nope, don't just tell the mares you are int... er... est... oh... makes sense; she is sweet, responsible, and was the first mare to befriend you.'
  147. >AJ's expression turns to one of sorrow.
  148. >”O-oh... Ah see... Ah guess Lyra n Twilight 're in it then.”
  149. “I literally just asked you what a herd was and told you I felt bad about being a polygamist... AJ, I'm not seeing ANYONE right now.”
  150. >You can't help but chuckle as she puts two and two together.
  151. >”... Ohhhh, oh. Um, right. Sooo ya aren't gonna claim a herd. Heh, look who's silly fer assumin' now!”
  152. >You pet her head.
  153. “AJ, I was a monogamist back on Earth, one-on-one relationship. I don't feel comfortable just switching to a player because I can get away with it. I am interested, doesn't mean I am going to date them all.”
  154. >She nods and is still chuckling.
  155. >”Right, right. Uh, let's say, hypothetically speakin' ah course, if'n ya did claim a herd... uh, who would be in it?”
  156. >You sigh and smile. You are reminded of Octavia's question last night.
  157. >'So you know the sexy southern farmer is interested too. That makes... five? Six mares? Maybe you should claim a herd, if they can share I mean.'
  158. 'Brain.'
  159. >'Yeah?'
  160. 'You're switching sides again.'
  161. >'Gah! Sorry, sorry.'
  162. “Hypothetically? Can't say. I would have to get to know them before I would ask. I'm not looking for a simple rut and run.”
  163. >The orange mare scoffs.
  164. >”Coulda fooled me with tha way ya acted last night.”
  165. >'Huh, guess she wasn't okay with it. Women, saying one thing when they mean another.'
  166. 'Or she's mad I won't tell her who I am interested in.'
  167. >You place a hand under her chin and bring her face to meet yours, giving her a soft peck on the cheek.
  168. “AJ, I am interested. I just want to make sure I work with the girl... or possibly girls, before I get into a serious relationship. What happened at the barn was just me acting without any inhibitions. Something I don't do everyday.”
  169. >She is staring into your eyes, that same stare Twilight had.
  170. >”So, if we were ta work out...?”
  171. >You pet her head and stand.
  172. “You are literally my oldest friend I've had here, what do you think?”
  173. >She kicks the dirt and looks down, pouting.
  174. >”Ah dunno.”
  175. >The appropriate response is for you to lower the brim of her hat and chuckle, a sly grin forming on your lips.
  176. “Doubting us before we even begin? Hmmm, maybe I should change who I'm interested in...”
  177. >She looks up and stomps softly.
  178. >”D-don't! Anon ah... Ya were just messin' with me, weren't ya?”
  179. >You nod and stick your tongue out, like a little butthead. She responds by knocking your leg. You groan and laugh it off.
  180. >”Anon, if ya do make a herd... remember me?”
  181. “How could I forget?”
  182. >She nods and sighs.
  183. >”Well, ah should probably get back ta work... see ya soon sugarcube?”
  184. “See you soon AJ. Take care of yourself, okay? You're my friend, no matter what happens with this relationship business I am dealing with.”
  185. >She blushes again and trots off to her day of bucking apples.
  186. >'Anon?'
  187. 'Yeah?'
  188. >'Do you think all mares are okay with herds?'
  189. 'She said it was old, and she has kind of an old fashioned taste... we'd have to ask each mare I like.'
  190. >'Soooo you ARE thinking of forming a herd.'
  191. 'N-Not exactly. It's an option, that's all. I still feel weird about polygamy. I mean, it's not that I am against it. I just... ugh, it's new for me.'
  192. >'I know. Like I said, do what makes you happy. If getting a marefriend will make you happy, do it. Hell, claim a herd if you know you can handle one.'
  193. 'Problem is, it's not just my happiness I would have to be concerned about. I want any girl I am with to be happy too... I can't be that selfish.'
  194. >'Right, because having six or seven marefriends is totally selfless.'
  195. '… Shut up.'
  196. >You shake yourself off and make for the exit.
  197. >Applebloom is carrying some wooden planks to the barn.
  198. “Need a hand Applebloom?”
  199. >She shakes her head, spitting the planks out.
  200. >”Nah, ah got it Mr. Anon. Thank ya fer offerin' though.”
  201. >You pet her once more before you leave and wave her off.
  202. >'So, what now?'
  203. 'I was thinking talk to the girls, grab our doughnuts, and job hunt. In that order.'
  204. >'... Wait a minute, you were thinking of something else. Anon, spill the beans.'
  205. >You groan as you step off of the Apple family's property.
  206. 'I was thinking... maybe I should write Fluttershy back.'
  207. >'GAH-TS-NAH! … I won't stop you, but I will say this. I don't like it.'
  208. 'I know.'
  209. >You sigh and contemplate what you should say in your letter to the yellow Pegasaus as you take your long walk to Ponyville.
  210.
  211.
  212. >As you walk through Ponyville, your brain is helping you with trying to figure out a proper response for Fluttershy, you are more than a little surprised by this.
  213. >'Okay, remove those parts that mention the rape attempts near the end. If, IF, she is making progress then hearing that you still hold those memories might cause more harm than good.'
  214. 'Got it, should I bring up wanting to go back too?'
  215. >'No. Not yet. Wait until there is more concrete evidence she isn't loco in the coco.'
  216. '… Have you been hanging out with Pinkie?'
  217. >'No, but I do see Sugarcube Corner. Doughnuts!'
  218. 'Girls first, remember?'
  219. >'Gah, fine. Oh, Lyra's looking at you.'
  220. 'Huh?'
  221. >You are brought out of your conversation and notice the minty mare staring at you. Smiling softly and shifting her weight from one leg to the other.
  222. >'Kinda looks like the bathroom dance.'
  223. “Lyra?”
  224. >She sighs and stops hopping.
  225. >”Good, you finally snapped out of your session. My legs were getting tired.”
  226. >You look at her and raise an eyebrow.
  227. “Session?”
  228. >She nods.
  229. >”You zone out often, sometimes you talk to yourself too. Deep in thought Anon?”
  230. >She noticed.
  231. >'How long has she known?'
  232. >”Secondary thought?”
  233. “Yeah... how...?”
  234. >She rubs the back of her head.
  235. >”I... I watch you a lot. I know it's creepy... Sorry.”
  236. >'She's like one of those girls you see in an anime. Stalker with a crush.'
  237. “Lyra, exactly HOW often did you watch me?”
  238. >Her ears lower and her focus shifts to your side.
  239. >”J-Just when you were in town or talking with me. I-I didn't follow you home or anything! I-I mean... if you asked me to- u-um.”
  240. >'She is way too stuttery right now.'
  241. '… Oh boy.'
  242. “Lyra? Do you remember last night's game of truth or dare?”
  243. >The unicorn stops stuttering and gulps. She slowly nods.
  244. “... Are you nervous about what happened?
  245. >She sniffles and nods.
  246. >”I know I made you kiss me. I know you don't want a forward relationship like that. That's why you never liked Fluttershy as more than a friend. I don't want what happened between you two to happen with us... I-I don't want to force it Anon and I will still wait! I-”
  247. >You place a finger on her lips.
  248. >'First Octavia, then Lyra. If you have to do this with Twilight too... I swear man, maybe you should just give up drinking.'
  249. “Lyra, it's okay. We were drunk and I did mention I was interested in you right before that. You didn't force anything, but we did move kind of fast last night. That's one of the things I wanted to talk to you about.”
  250. >She sits and sighs in relief.
  251. >”One?”
  252. “Yeah. I also wanted to know if you would still wait until I was certain on who I wanted to date. You just made that clear, so thanks. I also wanted to let you know that I found out what a herd is... why didn't you tell me?”
  253. >She blushes and looks away.
  254. >”Would you believe me if I said I wanted to tease you?”
  255. >You chuckle and nod.
  256. “I would actually. You swayed your plot in front of me after that.”
  257. >You hear her giggle and see her smile a bit.
  258. >”So, who told you?”
  259. >You pet her head and motion for her to follow you.
  260. “Applejack did.”
  261. >She hums and nods.
  262. >”Hm, she's cute, nice toned plot too.”
  263. >'What?'
  264. “What?”
  265. >Lyra giggles again and pokes your leg.
  266. >”What? You didn't know I was bi?”
  267. “No, no I didn't. Never asked and never assumed.”
  268. >”Ah, well that's one of the reasons I wouldn't mind being in a herd. A little girl on girl action can be fun~”
  269. >You look at her and can't help but smile. She is very open with herself without being annoying. Rare.
  270. “There are other reasons?”
  271. >She nods and steps a bit closer to you.
  272. >”Yeah, if it's a herd with you... I mean, well... I'd like that.”
  273. >You scratch her ear.
  274. “Lyra, I know you have a crush on me and you know I like you, but that's not enough to base a serious relationship off of.”
  275. >She closes her eyes and nods softly.
  276. >”I know that Anon, but I can't help but fantasize. You're a sweet exotic guy. Like I said, I've been watching you. You're kind, caring, helpful, forgiving, tall, better than most of the guys or girls I dated.”
  277. >You stop scratching.
  278. >'She said guys or girls, not stallions or mares.'
  279. “Lyra, have you been in an inter-species relationship before.”
  280. >Her eyes go wide, she must have let on more than she intended to.
  281. >”Y-yeah. I was really... uninhibited during my teenage years. I dated almost every species around I think... Bon bon didn't like it.”
  282. >'Bon bon, think she is jealous of you?'
  283. 'Only one way to find out.'
  284. “Lyra, are you and Bon bon... an item?”
  285. >She looks down, frowning.
  286. >”We work better as friends, can we leave it at that?”
  287. >You nod and pet her head once.
  288. >'Must be some bad history there.'
  289. 'Not bad enough that they aren't friends anymore.'
  290. >You start to walk towards the library, Lyra following.
  291. “Lyra, mind if I ask a question?”
  292. >She nods.
  293. >”Uh-uh. Ask away.”
  294. “Where I come from, most girls would want monogamistic relationship. Why are you okay with a polygamistic one?”
  295. >”Anon... I have watched you for three years. I have seen what kind of person you are and I want to be important to you, even if I have to share.”
  296. >'She clearly has an obsession with you, but at least she isn't some hormone driven rapist.'
  297. >You ignore your brain's obvious jab at what Fluttershy became.
  298. “Lyra, you don't have to date me to be important. And you do know I am not 100% on board with polygamy right now, right?”
  299. >She gives you a smirk and giggles.
  300. >”Even if your marefriend wants a threeway?”
  301. >You blush slightly and shake your head.
  302. “Give me time, I'll figure out how I feel about this herd business once I have everything else in my life settled.”
  303. >Lyra turns her head and gives you a confused look.
  304. >”Is something wrong? Are you in trouble?”
  305. >'You know if you tell her your personal business, it's only going to push her closer into your life.'
  306. 'Would that be so bad? She's a sweet girl, underneath the super crush... which could just be an interspecies fetish.'
  307. >'True, your call man.'
  308. >You stop a few feet from the library's front door.
  309. “Sorta, I am dealing with a few things. My feelings on who I am interested in, trying to figure out how to deal with the Fluttershy stuff, and I just got laid off of work. That's actually why I am in town; going to go job hunting once I make sure what I did last night doesn't come back to bite me in the ass.”
  310. >Lyra nods and her eyes run over the ground a bit.
  311. >”I won't ask about the Fluttershy or feeling stuff, but I could probably help with the job hunt. I know a few ponies who are looking for help, if you want I could try and find out who'd hire you. You deal with your stuff and relax for a bit, we'll meet up at noon?”
  312. >'That would actually be very helpful. Question is, is she doing this to get a better chance at the D, or because she is being friendly?'
  313. >You are a bit curious yourself.
  314. “Lyra, if you do ask around, it would be as a friend. Okay? Just a friend.”
  315. >The unicorn nods and smiles.
  316. >”What's wrong with me helping a friend? Besides, I still feel guilty about the kiss. Think of this as my way of saying -I'm sorry-, okay?”
  317. >With a small hug and nod, she is off.
  318. >'So, two down. Who else do you want to talk too?'
  319. 'Twilight, Rarity, and Pinkie. I kissed Twi, need to make sure we are cool. Rarity and Pinkie showed some interest too, so I should make it clear what I am going to do.'
  320. >'Then doughnuts?'
  321. 'Yeesh, yes, then the fucking doughnuts you pig.'
  322. >'Oink oink, mother fucker.'
  323. >Time to stop procrastinating, you march to Twilight's door and knock.
  324. >”Coming, I'll just be a minute, thank you.”
  325. >Hoofsteps are coming from inside, she is doing something.
  326. >After a few moments of receding and approaching steps, the door opens.
  327. >”Yes, how can I-Anon! I-oh, I wasn't expecting to see you today! I-I mean, so soon. Um, come in, come in!”
  328. >She is flustered, seems fitting for her given everything that has happened.
  329. >You step inside and close the door.
  330. >”Can I get you anything? Water, ointment for your arm, book-”
  331. “Twilight, is Spike around?”
  332. >She is pacing around, pulling and putting books off and on shelves.
  333. >”He's asleep, he had a big night last night and I decided he deserved some rest. Why?”
  334. >A few steps and you are behind her. You place a hand on her shoulder and she stops.
  335. “Can we talk?”
  336. >”... About last night?”
  337. >You nod and wait for her response.
  338. >”Yeah, of course... Um, can we do it on the sofa?”
  339. “Yeah, we can do it on the sofa.”
  340. >'This feels weird, like buying the girl you just had sex with breakfast after she is uncertain of what she did.'
  341. >The two of you have a seat on the pony sized sofa and sit in silence for a moment.
  342. >You have to break the silence.
  343. “Twilight, I-”
  344. >She jumps you, kissing you deeply.
  345. >'What the- Horny nerd girl?'
  346. >You try to speak, but Twilight won't have it. She presses her body against yours and holds the kiss. A small amount of tears fall from her eyes.
  347. >She wraps her forelegs around your neck and you wrap your arms around her back.
  348. >You decide to let the kiss last for a moment. It's soft, sweet.
  349. >She breaks it and rubs her cheek against yours.
  350. >”Anon, I am sorry. I just- I needed another kiss. To feel your lips against mine.”
  351. >'Puppy love perhaps? Man... those feelings of puppy love are always so damn strong.'
  352. >You stroke her cheek and kiss her forehead.
  353. “Twilight, I wanted to say I am sorry for last night. Forcing the kiss in front of everyone.”
  354. >The purple unicorn shakes her head and smiles.
  355. >”It's fine, I know you were drunk. I could taste it when we kissed... but, it didn't stop me from wanting more. K-Kisses I mean.”
  356. >She is so cute...
  357. >'Wow, I- uh, is it getting hotter in here? How is your adorkable friend this cute?'
  358. 'Do I really need to answer this one?'
  359. “Twilight, you are my friend, right?”
  360. >”Of course I am Anon, I know I haven''t been a very good friend as of late, but I am your friend.”
  361. “Which is why I don't want to hurt you.”
  362. >Her expression of pure joy vanishes, she now looks concerned and scared.
  363. >”What do you mean Anon?”
  364. “Twilight, I am interested in several mares.”
  365. >She scoffs and shakes her head, giggling.
  366. >”Well duh, you kissed Lyra too. I was there, remember?”
  367. >'Oh, right. You keep underestimating these girls Anon.'
  368. 'That I do brain.'
  369. “So, you are okay with it?”
  370. >She shakes her head.
  371. >”I am not, but I will accept some friendly competition for the heart of our little human~”
  372. >You blush as she coos and rubs her head against your chest.
  373. “Twilight... you know what a herd is, right?”
  374. >Her head rubbing stops. She looks up you into your eyes.
  375. >”Anon, are you saying what I think you are saying?”
  376. “Yes...”
  377. >Her eyes start to well up. She brings a hoof to her lips.
  378. >”Oh my Celestia...”
  379. >You feel your heart breaking.
  380. >'Oh... we fucked up, we fucked up bad.'
  381. “T-Twi... I-”
  382. >”Yes! Yesyesyesyesyes! A thousand times yes Anon!”
  383. >She is kissing you again, harder though. More tender and passionate.
  384. >'What?'
  385. >You pull her off, she gasps and smiles.
  386. “Wait, what did you think I was going to say?”
  387. >”You were going to ask me to be a part of your herd! Right?”
  388. “Twilight, no. I was going to say I am thinking of claiming one but I still need time to think on what I really want and I hope you will wait... wait, didn't you say you weren't okay with me liking several mares?”
  389. >”Yes! Because I thought we-you were going to try and establish a traditional -human- family; one dad, a mom, and children. You told me all this before, remember?”
  390. >That you did, it was one of the few cultural talks you had.
  391. >”When I thought you would instead try a pony version of marriage, I-I was so excited! I-... oh-ohhhhh. Anon... wait, whats going on?”
  392. >She lost herself.
  393. >After a few more time, you succeed in explaining where you stand, what you want, and your interest in the dorky unicorn.
  394. >”Okay, I got it. So, if you are trying to find out what you want, could we... go... on a date?”
  395. “Heh, sure. Maybe after my arms is out of the sling?”
  396. >She smiles and nods, then looks down, blushing.
  397. >”Can... we still kiss until then? I-I really liked them. They were more magical than any spell I have ever cast.~”
  398. >'Yeah, definitely puppy love.'
  399. 'Sometimes puppy love can work out. Not many, but some.'
  400. “How about we decide after our date, all right?”
  401. >She nods and cuddles up against you.
  402. “Twi, I still have to speak with Rarity and Pinkie.”
  403. >Twilight nods and stands.
  404. >”I understand... one last thing before you go?”
  405. “Anything.”
  406. >She pulls out a small book. She opens it and it has everything the two of you have discussed about humans.
  407. >”I-I was writing a book on humans, but it's missing some more mature topics... can we finally discuss them? O-Or would it be too weird.”
  408. >'She never cared if it was weird before, she just kept asking.'
  409. 'Maybe now that she knows I'm interested, she wants to respect my limits?'
  410. >'She's a student first, she once mass -murdered- Pinkie clones. I don't think that's the case.'
  411. >Untrusting little...
  412. “Sure, third date?”
  413. >Her smile can't get much larger, she nibbles on a bit of her hair.
  414. >”That sounds perfect. See you soon Anon~”
  415. >She pecks your cheek and walks you out.
  416. >'... What the fuck. No, no, really, what the actual fuck?'
  417. 'What?'
  418. >'All these mares man, they're just throwing themselves at you! Seriously, what the fuck happened?'
  419. 'I've been through three years of racial hell, had to deal with my closest friend trying to rape me, been beaten, and spent most of that time alone. I am pretty sure I've earned a huge fucking stipend of good fortune.'
  420. >'Jesus. I'm telling you, there's a catch. Something is way off.'
  421. 'What? Me actually having good luck?'
  422. >'No, just, something. No one's life turns around that quickly without some catch or immediate one-eighty.'
  423. 'Brain, I know you are skeptical, but isn't it possible that I have a chance to finally be done with the shit  that's followed me for three years?'
  424. >'Maybe, but-'
  425. 'Didn't you say yourself you wanted me to be happy?'
  426. >'... fine, let's just roll with this. Maybe this will all work out, maybe there won't be some sort of shitstorm at the end of this.'
  427. 'Thank you.'
  428. >A grunt escapes your lips as you walk into a wall. You rub your head and look around. Carousel Boutique is across the street.
  429. >Time to deal with Rarity.
  430. >You take a deep breath and march yourself over to the Boutique.
  431. >Just as you are about to knock, Rarity opens the door.
  432. >”Anon?”
  433. “Hey Rari-”
  434. >She pulls you into the boutique.
  435. >'Not again...'
  436. >The door closes behind you, you drop onto a chair nearby.
  437. >”Darling, there is a rumor going around that you are looking for a marefriend, is this true?”
  438. >'Oh, she isn't going to force a meeting of lips. Shocking.'
  439. “What? How did you hear this?”
  440. >She sighs and rubs her forehead, her horn glows and she pours herself a cup of tea from a nearby pot.
  441. >”How does any rumor start? Some one told a friend of a friend of a friend and so on and so forth. Now, please, is it true?”
  442. >”Yeah, Mr. Anon, is it?”
  443. >Sweetie Belle pops out from under a table.
  444. “It is true, to an extent. I am interested in a relationship, but I have some things I need to deal with first.”
  445. >Sweetie Belle seems a bit disappointed with your answer. Rarity seems content.
  446. >”Very well darling, I shan't push the subject. However, I feel I should tell you that there are some mares who are interested who you might not be aware of... some, rather close to you.”
  447. >Sweetie giggles, nonchalantly winking at you.
  448. >'Dis filly.'
  449. “Rarity, I still remember last night.”
  450. >Rarity is caught off guard by your statement.
  451. >”Last night? What happened last night?”
  452. >'Did... did she... no, oh no. Heh, no fucking way! She doesn't remember, does she? Oh, oh this is gonna be golden.'
  453. >”What happened last night sis?”
  454. >Uh oh, Sweetie is curious.
  455. >'Oh... maybe more bronze than golden.'
  456. “Not much, just your sister wanting to join a club... that Lyra and Twilight joined last night.”
  457. 'Take the hint, don't make me spell it out in front of your kid sister.'
  458. >Rarity tries to recollect her memories from last night while Sweetie is on the offensive.
  459. >”What club? Is it a unicorn only club? Can I join?”
  460. >'Oh god, filly fiddling. No! Bad! Bad Pedonon!'
  461. 'Shush! Don't even joke about that.'
  462. >Rarity's eyes widen, her jaw drops a bit and her normally pristine white cheeks are flushed red.
  463. >”Club, that club... oh no... I-I remember. Uhhh Sweetie! Can you do me a favor and deliver these... gems! These gems toooooo Spike, yes, these gems need to go to Spike for... Nightmare Night! He deserves a treat along ith all the rest of the children, right?”
  464. >'That is a sad excuse right there.'
  465. >”But siiis, Nightmare Night isn't for almost another week! Can't I do it later? I want to know about the club.”
  466. >”Oh, no no no no no! He-er, Twilight needs them ahead of time! To... bake, into treats for our Spikey-Wikey.”
  467. >Sweetie huffs and grabs the nearby container of gems.
  468. >”Okay, but I want to hear all about the club when I get back! It sounds fun.”
  469. >The filly leaves the boutique. Rarity falls to her knees and covers her head.
  470. >”Ohhhhh, I made an utter fool of myself last night!”
  471. >She tries to bury herself.
  472. “No, you didn't.”
  473. >You hear her hiccup and sniffle.
  474. >”Yes! I did! I came right out and admitted wanting to... that. Oh, Anon, I am so sorry for my unladylike behavior!”
  475. >'She's taking this a wee bit harder than I expected. Wait, no she isn't. She is the queen of the melodramatic.'
  476. “Rarity, it's fine. We all had some drinks, some things happened, no one got hurt. It's fine.”
  477. >She sniffles and raises her head.
  478. >”Really, darling?”
  479. >You nod, stand up, and walk to the unicorn.
  480. “Really really.”
  481. >The mare stands and recomposes herself.
  482. >”Well, since it is out in the open then. Anon, may I join the club?”
  483. “Not as of now, I am dealing with some personal stuff. In fact... kind of needed to talk to you.”
  484. >The mare looks confused.
  485. >”Is everything all right Darling?”
  486. >You sigh and rub your hand over your chin.
  487. “Yeah, just dealing with a lot of issues at once. One of them being that I have an interest in multiple mares.”
  488. >Rarity finally sips her tea and takes a seat nearby.
  489. >”I see, are the mares interested back?”
  490. “Mhmm.”
  491. >”Hmmm, tell me Anonymous, have you heard of a herd?”
  492. >'Let's see; we're four for four and it doesn't look like there is any opposition. This may be a unanimous vote folks!'
  493. 'Brain!'
  494. “More than should be necessary.”
  495. >”Well then, problem solved.”
  496. “No, problem not solved. Problem's still here.”
  497. >She cocks her head and lets out a confused hum.
  498. >”Perhaps I am missing the point then. What is wrong?”
  499. “What's wrong is... I like them, I don't know if I love them. Then there's the fact I don't want anyone getting hurt in case it all come crashing down.”
  500. >'Puss.'
  501. 'What?'
  502. >'THAT is your big problem with this? I know you said it earlier, but come on! There is- no, you know what? Let's see if Rarity can explain this too you, freaking idiot.'
  503. >”Anonymous. I know more about relationships than you might think. One fact I have come to learn is that there is no such thing as a relationship without the risk of someone getting hurt. If you are afraid to start something that could blossom into a beautiful bond because of fear, then you are not ready for a relationship darling.”
  504. >'And even if you do get hurt or you hurt someone in the process, that's not reason enough to give up on trying to find one! You brush yourself off, move through the pain, and keep looking for that special someone. Or in your case, someponies.'
  505. '… You switched sides again'
  506. >'I give a flying fuck! If you are going to act like a chode, I'll switch as many times as need be until you are over yourself.'
  507. “Well... maybe I am not ready yet, but soon.”
  508. >”And when that moment comes, do not forget you have atleast a few admirers who are waiting.”
  509. >She winks at you as she finishes.
  510. 'Brain?'
  511. >'Yes pussmaster?'
  512. 'Thanks. Was...'
  513. >'Remembering your ex?'
  514. 'Yeah.'
  515. >You sigh and stand.
  516. >”Now then darling, is there anything else you need help with?”
  517. >'Ask her about a job.'
  518. “Actually, do you need an extra pair of hands around here?”
  519. >Rarity giggles and shakes her head.
  520. >”No, I don't think I could use an -extra- pair, but a pair at all would be helpful.
  521. >Right, hooves.
  522. “So is that a yes?”
  523. >”That's a 'You can start tomorrow', darling.”
  524. >'Sweet! Wait, is it sweet? You don't exactly know how to work with clothes.'
  525. 'I do have hands though, which can be a huge help by itself. Save her some time.'
  526. “Thanks Rarity, I appreciate it.”
  527. >”Yes, there is just one thing we must address...”
  528. >'Uh oh.'
  529. “Which is?...”
  530. >She gives you the most serious look you have ever seen.
  531. >”Sweetie Belle must never know what happened last night. Ever.”
  532. >'That's it?'
  533. 'She is trying to stay a hero in her sister's eyes. Hearing that Rarity was drunkely trying to mack on a friend of her's would ruin that.'
  534. “Don't worry, what happened in the barn is staying in the barn.”
  535. >She lets out a heavy sigh.
  536. >”Good, the last thing I need is for my sister to be wondering about boys so young. Let her stay innocent a while longer.”
  537. >'She hardly shows it, but she does love Sweetie.'
  538. 'Sometimes siblings have a hard time showing their love.'
  539. >'Applejack doesn't.'
  540. 'I said sometimes.'
  541. “Well, I guess I'll see you tomorrow?”
  542. >”Indeed, try to be here before ten. Have a wonderful day and see you then Anon.”
  543. >On that note, you and Rarity part ways.
  544. >'Oh, you forgot something.'
  545. 'What is it?'
  546. >'All the girls you've talked to seem okay with sharing you. I am pretty sure you won't hurt them unless you went out of your way to try and do so.'
  547. 'Right... still feels a bit weird, having them all be okay with a herd.'
  548. >'Yet you didn't complain or shoot down the idea.'
  549. 'Weird, not bad.'
  550. >The sun has yet to peak, though it's probably close to noon.
  551. >You decide to take your time with the walk to Sugarcube Corner, enjoy the drastic change of luck that has happened over the past few days.
  552. >Your brain is keeping to his word, not trying to overanalyze the situation and just enjoy the moment.
  553. >Something seems off about your walk and pulls you out of your bliss. To your surprise the citizens are not paying attention to you. No glares, no stares, no fear. It's nice.
  554.
  555.
  556. >12:04
  557. >'Lunch time. On today's menu is; doughnuts by the dozen. Possibly milk.'
  558. >You chuckle as you push the double doors of Sugarcube Corner open.
  559. >The Cakes don't seem to be too busy.
  560. >You walk up to the counter and knock.
  561. “Hi Mr. Cake, Mrs. Cake. Is Pinkie around?”
  562. >The tall stallion turns to greet you.
  563. >”Well hi Anon, been a while since you were here. She's in the back right now, making some doughnuts. Do you need me to get her?”
  564. “Please.”
  565. >'Her spidey sense must have tingled.'
  566. 'She probably just saw me walking around.'
  567. >You grab a seat and wait for Pinkie to come out.
  568. >After a few minutes, the pink ball of joy and insanity pops up beside you with a pink box.
  569. >”Ta da! One dozen doughnuts, freshly prepared and ready to be nommed on! As promised~”
  570. >You chuckle and pull the box over.
  571. “Thanks Pinkie, remembered the dare then?”
  572. >”Mhmm, I always keep my promises, andadareisapromise,justabitdifferentbecau-”
  573. >'Eat.'
  574. 'No.'
  575. >'Eaaaaat.'
  576. 'No, not going to be rude.'
  577. >'And zoning out while Pinkie is talking isn't?'
  578. 'Shit!'
  579. >You turn your attention back to Pinkie.
  580. >”-sowhenmyPinkie sense went off, I knew I had a few minutes to get them ready for you.”
  581. >'Pinkie what?'
  582. “Pinkie sense?”
  583. >She nods.
  584. >”Uh huh, my Pinkie sense! I get these little ticks that tell me what will happen ahead of time. My Pinkie sense told me that you were coming by in the afternoon so I made sure not to make the doughnuts until the last minute so they were as fresh as possible.”
  585. >'Ohhhh, Oh! Fucking. Called. It. Breaking the laws of physics and a sense that lets her know whats going to happen! She's like Spiderman and Deadpool all wrapped up in a pink fluffy bow!'
  586. >The image of Pinkie dressed as Deadpool while party string comes out her hooves is now stuck in your head. You can't help but laugh.
  587. >You laughing must be contagious since Pinkie is joining in.
  588. >”Ahahaha, what are we laughing about Nonny?”
  589. >Her comment causes you to snort and laugh harder.
  590. “N-no-hehe-nothing Pinkie! Pffft, just-eheh! Just got this crazy idea stuck in m-m-mahaha! In my head.”
  591. >The laugh you two are sharing goes on for a few more minutes before you calm down and catch your breath.
  592. >As you finally get a grip, you notice that some of the other customers are chuckling themselves.
  593. >You wonder why and look to Pinkie.
  594. >She is wearing Groucho glasses, has a rubber chicken on her head, and is chewing on a carrot.
  595. >”What's up, doc?”
  596. >Whatever calmness you had is thrown out the window as you break back into another fit of laughter, soon joined by the rest of the bakery.
  597. “P-Pinkie stop! I-I-Haha-I need to talk with y-you-hoo-hoo!”
  598. >She leans on the table and raises her Groucho glasses eyebrows.
  599. “What about, Mac?”
  600. >'Pfff-Oh god! This girl is going to kill you!'
  601. >You have to fight to control yourself, the urge to let out a loud guffaw is strong.
  602. “Pinkie, please! I-I can't breath!”
  603. >”Well, since you said please.”
  604. >The mare spins fast enough to form a small pink tornado. She stops and is bare of any joke props.
  605. >After a few moments the entire bakery is filled with sighs of relief, free from their joyful torture.
  606. >'Man, when was the last time you laughed that hard?'
  607. 'Too long, I think it was back on Earth.'
  608. “Ah, oh god. Thanks Pinkie, I haven't laughed like that in a long time.”
  609. >She slaps on some shades and leans back.
  610. >”It's what I do.”
  611. >'God bless this world and it's creation of Pinkie.'
  612. “Pinkie, mind if we talk in private?”
  613. >”Course not Nonny.”
  614. >She hops off upstairs. You compose yourself, making sure she won't catch you off guard if she decides to pull another sneak attack of comedy on you.
  615. >After a moment of preparation you stand and head up to Pinkie's room.
  616. >When you enter, an alligator starts snapping at your shoes.
  617. “Hey Gummy.”
  618. >It keeps snapping, trying to consume your footwear.
  619. >”So, what'd you need Nonny?”
  620. >Pinkie is sitting on her bed, snacking on a cupcake.
  621. >You sit down next to her.
  622. “I wanted to talk about last night.”
  623. >”You mean the kissing club?”
  624. >'Mare is direct.'
  625. “Yeah, that. I was wondering... we're good, right?”
  626. >She nods and jumps off her bed.
  627. >”Uh huh, we're okie dokie lokie Nonny.”
  628. >'That was easy.'
  629. “So, no uncomfortable feelings, confusion, none of that?”
  630. >”Nope, we were all just having fun. Besides, not the first time a kissing fest happened in the barn.”
  631. >'What?'
  632. “What?”
  633. >”What?”
  634. “You said it wasn't the first time, something like that's happened before?”
  635. >”Uh huh, except everyone usually gets involved, was the first time we had a boy too.”
  636. >'Ohhhhh, now the herd stuff is making sense.'
  637. “First time you had a... what?”
  638. >”Yeah, usually it's just me, Rarity, and Rainbow. It would have been fun to finally have a boy involved!”
  639. >'Never mind. Just some experimentati- wait. Rarity? That's a bit odd.'
  640. “Pinkie, is there usually some drinking involved?”
  641. >She finishes her cupcake before answering.
  642. >”It's the only way Rarity will play. She also makes us swear never to speak of it the day after too.”
  643. >With that bit of info, you think you are done here.
  644. “Okay then, thanks for telling me Pinkie. I'll see you later then?”
  645. >”Sure, hopefully before the party next week, it'll be a bash!”
  646. >'Right, her Nightmare Night thing. We're going, right?'
  647. 'I'm not going to drink.'
  648. >'I didn't say you would.'
  649. “Yeah, you'll see me before then.”
  650. >”Great! What costume have you got planned? I'm thinking I'll go as a giant pumpkin or cherry.”
  651. 'Costume?'
  652. >'Dude, go as Batman.'
  653. 'No, why Batman?'
  654. >'Because Batman is the shit.'
  655. 'No way, besides, he isn't even in my top 5 comic heroes.'
  656. >'... You're dead to me.'
  657. “I don't know yet. Do I need one?”
  658. >The normally happy go lucky mare looks at you, dead serious.
  659. >”Yes, Anonymous.”
  660. “Th-Then I'll have one ready by then.”
  661. >Her ultra happy smile returns.
  662. >”Super! I'll see you  soon then Nonny~”
  663. >You are left alone in this room as Pinkie returns to work.
  664. >'... That mare sure is scary at times.'
  665. 'Very.'
  666. >'OH GOOD GOD!'
  667. 'What?!?'
  668. >'We left the doughnuts downstairs, unguarded!”
  669. >A sudden embrace of palm and face accompanies your brains idiocy.
  670. >Gummy is still chewing on your shoes.
  671. >You lift him up and put him on Pinkie's bed before you head back downstairs to grab your dozen doughnuts and meet up with Lyra.
  672. >As you enter the bakery to retrieve your snack, a nice surprise is there.
  673. >Lyra is sitting at the table where your doughnuts are, wearing a pair of professional looking glasses.
  674. >”Hey Anon, figured you would be here.”
  675. >You pull up a chair next to her an smile.
  676. “How'd you figure that?”
  677. >She lays down a notepad and looks at you.
  678. >”Easy, Snowflake said he saw you come in here a few minutes ago.”
  679. >'Is he stalking you now?'
  680. 'Getting a bad feeling?'
  681. >'No, not since last night.'
  682. 'Then I don't think so, was probably just a coincidence... like the last two times.'
  683. >You open the box and pull out one of your sweet glazed confections.
  684. “Want one Lyra?”
  685. >She smiles, her horn glows as she lifts a doughnut.
  686. >”Thanks Anon, enjoy your afternoon?”
  687. “It was good, relaxing.”
  688. >Lyra giggles and takes a bite from her doughnut.
  689. >”So I take it last night won't come back to bite you in the plot?”
  690. >You take your first bite out of your doughnut.
  691. >'Sweet deep fried goodness~”
  692. “Don't think so. I talked to everyone and no one seems too upset over what happened... In fact, everyone seems a little okay with it.”
  693. >'Little?'
  694. “Well, very okay with it.”
  695. >”Well duh, it's in our history for a stallion to take multiple wives. Did you think they would try to hang you?”
  696. “... Yes, it's what a human woman would do.”
  697. >Your unicorn companion giggles again.
  698. >”Well, we're not human women are we?”
  699. >She pushes her notepad over to you.
  700. >”Here, I made a list of ponies who are hiring full-, part-, and temporarily.”
  701. >You look down and see that Lyra has made a detailed list of employers, positions, hours, and salary.
  702. “This is- uh, wow, this is amazing Lyra. How did you-”
  703. >”I am a very social mare Anon, very.”
  704. >She lifts her glasses and wipes off the lens.
  705. >As you look over the list you notice that Rarity is on it.
  706. >'Ten to four. That's the position we filled! She got to Rarity before us?'
  707. 'That would explain how she heard about the rumor.'
  708. >'Let's see she is paying... seriously? That mill was ripping you off.'
  709. >Rarity is willing to pay nearly 50% more than you were making an hour. In fact, most of these figures are much higher than your pay from the mill.
  710. >'Double, one point three, over seventy percent more... wait, that's the mill... Triple what they were paying you, to replace you... Fucking ASS. HOLES.'
  711. >You can't help but feel a pang of pain as you read how badly you were taken advantage of.
  712. 'I was able to build and reinforce my own house with what I made.'
  713. >'With plenty of under the table deals from Steel Bar and the Apples.'
  714. >You sigh and rub your forehead.
  715. “Thanks Lyra. I appreciate it.”
  716. >”You seem upset...”
  717. “Yeah, turns out the Steel Mill I was with only paid me a third what they would offer a pony.”
  718. >Lyra brings her hoof to her mouth and gasps.
  719. >”O-oh my. I am sorry Anon, but you won't focus on that will you? You have an opportunity to move forward now, get the pay and respect you deserve.”
  720. “I know Lyra, I won't. Truth be told, I was devastated when I found out they laid me off. But after seeing this... I am done with them.”
  721. >'Pricks.'
  722. >”Heh, see Anon? Another reason I like you, you're level headed. I'm sure Bon bon would have been furious. She would have gone to that mill and demanded heads on platters.”
  723. >'Seems about right. Side salad, some classy dressing.'
  724. >You smile and continue reading the list, looking for a smaller position that could fill a couple hours and line your pockets with some spending money.
  725. >One job catches your eye.
  726. “Hmm, seems that the spa twins are hiring a practiced masseuse for... Whoa.”
  727. >'Dude, maybe you should be a masseuse?'
  728. 'Maybe. Over double what I earned and it's only for a few hours in the evening.'
  729. >”Hmm, if you took that job, wouldn't you need to know the right ways to... touch, a pony?”
  730. >'That's right, all you know is that they like belly rubs, ear scratches, and pets down their mane. Fuck, there goes that idea.'
  731. 'Maybe not...'
  732. “What are you saying Lyra?”
  733. >She is biting the end of her glasses, eyes fluttering.
  734. >”Well... You need to learn a pony's body and I wouldn't mind being used as a practice partner. Maybe we could work something out? As friends of course.”
  735. >You chuckle, the offer is tempting.
  736. >'Normally I would be against it, but all those bits...'
  737. 'And you wanting me to be happy?'
  738. >'Money makes people happy. Prove me wrong.'
  739. 'Then I guess it's settled.'
  740. “You know it will be platonic massage, right?”
  741. >”Free massages, why would I say no?”
  742. “All right, then I guess we have a deal.”
  743. >You extend your hand. Lyra squees and lays her hoof on your palm as you hold it. One shake and you have your agreement.
  744. “So, when should we start?”
  745. >”After your sling is off, that way you aren't wasting your time learning with just one arm.”
  746. >'Huh, surprised she didn't jump at the situation to have you touch her.'
  747. 'Trust, brain. You should learn it sometime.'
  748. “Sounds good. So, help me finish off these doughnuts?”
  749. >Lyra giggles and scooches a bit closer.
  750. >”Sounds good.”
  751.
  752.
  753. >It's now 4:50.
  754. >You  have been working on your letter to Fluttershy for a while now.
  755. >Just one problem, you are having writer's block and don't know how to finish it.
  756. >'Mention Nightmare Night?'
  757. 'Too off topic.'
  758. >'Ask how she is doing?'
  759. 'Too impersonal.'
  760. >'Fuck! How about your scars?'
  761. '… Really?'
  762. >'I'm just tossing ideas out as they come! Talk about joining the CMC?'
  763. 'Ugh, if this continues I just might.'
  764. >Writing can be very frustrating at times.
  765. >You lean back and take a deep breath. Letting your mind wander and focusing on other things, hoping inspiration will come soon.
  766. >'You could always just say you hope she gets well soon, it's how I would end it.'
  767. 'Better than nothing I guess.'
  768. >You sigh and start to jot down a couple sentences.
  769. >They don't read fluidly and you erase them, trying a different phrasing.
  770. >Still doesn't feel good.
  771. >You erase them and slam your head back.
  772. “Fuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuck!”
  773. >'... *Sigh* just go with whatever you are feeling, you'll never finish it otherwise.'
  774. 'I would, but what I am feeling is jumping the gun. You said not to do that.'
  775. >'Yes I did, just do it in a way that makes it seem like you aren't doing that.'
  776. 'Is that even possible?'
  777. >'Probably, just try.'
  778. >You can't think of anything better, so you start to write your true feelings as they come.
  779. >'Good, now scale them back a bit, a little more ambiguous.'
  780. >You modify some of the more kind parts so they are leaning to a neutral feeling.
  781. >A quick proof read and it feels good. Not perfect, but good.
  782. 'All right, think we can get this to the post office before it closes?'
  783. >'No way in hell, but you could always try.'
  784. >You grab the letter, fold it into an envelope, and address it to the medical facility Fluttershy is staying at.
  785. >After the letter is prepared and ready for mailing, you rush out the door and try to sprint to the post office.
  786. >'Oh shit! Think the lock place is still open?'
  787.
  788.
  789. >Day 10 in Canterlot.
  790. >You are Fluttershy and you are sitting back on a couch as you wait to start your therapy session.
  791. >”Sorry I am late Miss Shy, I had to deal with a new transfer. Poor mare thinks she is a dog.”
  792. >Your therapist enters the room, glasses pressed firmly against her white coat.
  793. “O-Oh, it's okay Dr. Cortex. I don't mind waiting if someone else needs more help than me...”
  794. >She sighs and shakes her head.
  795. >”We discussed this Fluttershy, you are just as important as anyone else here and should feel as such. Now, shall we continue from where we left off yesterday?”
  796. >You nod and sigh, remembering what you mentioned yesterday.
  797. “I-I was talking about Anon and how we met... right?”
  798. >The elder mare nods and take a clipboard in her hooves.
  799. >”That's right, his first day in Ponyville and how he left for Canterlot. When was the next time you saw him?”
  800. >How could you forget, this was the day your fears of him being a frightful beast stopped.
  801. “He had been in Ponyville for a little while. I was walking home after helping Ponyville from danger one evening and heard a puppy whimpering. I looked around for the poor dear and found him by a river. Anonymous was standing over him, at first I thought he was hurting the poor baby. I tried to sneak in and save him, but... um...”
  802. >”You were too frightened?”
  803. >You nod meekly and continue.
  804. “After a couple minutes of sitting there, Anon left with the puppy cradled in his arms. I followed him all the way back to Ponyville. I don't know what I expected, but I didn't expect him to take the puppy to the veterinarian... I was shocked. Turns out the puppy had been abused by some stallions and had it's poor leg broken. Anon paid them to help the dear and left it there for the night. He kept visiting the puppy until he was all better and tried to find him a nice home. No one would take him in so he e-eventually came to me. He left the puppy with me and asked me to find him a loving family... I was able to after a couple weeks. *giggle* The little baby was so happy when the family took him in.”
  805. >Dr. Cortex just nods, jotting down your story.
  806. “I went to tell him the good news and he was so happy... he loves dogs. It was... cute, the way he acted. We started to see a lot more of each other after that. He would help me with the animals, I would cook for him since he didn't know how to make good meals. We... we were friends.... best friends I hope...”
  807. >The mare puts down her clipboard and takes off her glasses.
  808. >”Fluttershy, was this when your feelings for him started to develop?”
  809. >You shake your head then stop.
  810. “M-Maybe... I don't know when my feelings first came, but I knew I wanted to be with him... The... bad things came later, after he freaked out at the thought of being with me. I-I didn't handle that well... I started to hear a voice tell me not to give up, that if I could just convince him that being with a pony wasn't so bad, he would love me back.”
  811. >”Hmmm, do you hear the voice now Fluttershy?”
  812. “No, not anymore. I-it went away after a while. I don't know what happened to it.”
  813. >You sigh and place your hooves around yourself, remembering that dark time. The suggestions, the forced body movements, it was like having another pony inside your head. You started to give in, believe she was right. Over time her thoughts became your own... but it's gone now, you can think clearly again. All those thoughts of holding Anon down and taking his body all seemed to vanish that night. Your love for him still remains though.
  814. >”I think this is a good point to stop Fluttershy, you have told me more than enough for today.”
  815. >You nod and get off the couch.
  816. >”I want you to try and remember what this voice was like and how it felt for tomorrow's session, okay? Oh, you also have some letters waiting for you in your room... one of them is from Anonymous.”
  817. >You stop, eyes widening in shock that he replied.
  818. >”Do you think you can handle reading whatever it is he has to say, Fluttershy?”
  819. “... I-I have to, I need to accept whatever he wants to happen. Right?”
  820. >The elder mare nods and sees you out.
  821. >What could he have said?
  822. >Is he mad?
  823. >Does he forgive you?
  824. >... Is this letter just to state he never wants to hear from you ever again?
  825. >You're scared, but you need to know.
  826. >When you arrive at your room you look for the letters.
  827. >You dig through them.
  828. >Ever since you arrived here your friends have sent you letters, but this is the first time Anon sent one.
  829. >You find it.
  830. >The writing is a bit sloppy, but so long as you can make out what he said, it doesn't matter.
  831. >You take three deep breaths before opening it.
  832. >”Dear Fluttershy, I am glad to hear from you and hope you are getting the help you need. I know you aren't a bad pony Fluttershy. Everyone here misses you. They don't say it out loud, but it is obvious. You may think I hate you Fluttershy, but I don't. I hate what you did, not you. I also don't regret meeting you, you were one of the few willing to help me adjust to life in Equestria. We were friends Fluttershy, remember that. Let's try and keep this letter thing going, maybe I can help you. Would that be all right with you? Anon.”
  833. “... Don't be overly happy. Don't be overly happy. Don't...”
  834. >You fall on your bed, holding the letter and can feel a soft smile forming.
  835. “... Yay.”
