Battle Mechanics: Certain types of weapons and certain classes are better than others. Those classes are weaker against other classes as well, meaning there is no perfect class. Samuel is one of the lighter, more agile classes, and wields quick, but not powerful weapons, like rapiers and daggers, happening to be very good when pitted against brutes like Berta, who wield slower, but more powerful weapons, like axes and long-swords. Alternatively, people like Eryne, who are all-around battlers, wield normal weapons like swords and lances, and are very good against their sneaky counterparts, but are lacking against the brutes, who utterly overpower them.
Magic also has its own triangle. Typical magic, such as flames, lightning, and ice are more effective against holy magic, which is seen used by priests and priestesses. Holy magic is much stronger against dark magic, purging the ancient art with a light that the heavens would smile upon. Dark magic, although rarely seen used nowadays, is much more effective against typical magic, drowning out the elements with shadow.
In addition to regular attacks, there are those who fight with their bodies. Monsters such as Succubi prefer to tease their target into giving in, promising things such as sex, false-companionship, and very rarely, a "happy-ending."
Samuel fights with his trusty Rapier named "Deniece," after his mother, whom was the creator of the blade. Sadly, she passed not too long after making the sword, leading Sam to dedicate the weapon to her memory. If the fight demands that he cannot use his rapier, or it's unavailable to him at that time, he uses two daggers from his belt, which he conceals excellently with his cloak. He has named them "Lunra" (left dagger) and "Solus" (right dagger) respectively. He also uses a leveling system (although he is unaware of this), gaining more abilities and powers the more levels he grows. He can also learn special skills outside of battle, but these need to be taught to him by specific mentors. These skills, as well as his abilities, cost BP or "Battle Points." For every 5 levels he gains, one more point of BP is available to him at the start of battle. Every turn he does not use a special attack/ability, he will gain 1 BP, up to a maximum of ten.
