  1. >"C'mon Anon, let's go play!"
  2. >A pink p0ny skips happily through the statue garden.
  3. >Another lovely day in Equestria...
  4. >The weather, that is.
  5. >The quality of the day itself is pretty low.
  6. >You're stuck hanging out with the Princess' stupid niece.
  7. >'Mi Amore Cadenza'.
  8. >Dumb name.
  9. >You walk through the statues slowly, Cadenza skipping to and fro.
  10. >"I love this place."
  11. >You don't respond.
  12. >Not that you don't agree, the statues in the garden are quite beautiful.
  13. >Some of them, at least.
  14. >The one with a large dragon-esque thing that looks like it's singing an opera.
  15. >A tiny bit unnerving.
  16. >The rest are impressive, however.
  17. >Some look like champions of war.
  18. >Other, dressed in fine gowns, ambassadors or peace-pushers.
  19. >Was an interesting sight the first few times.
  20. >It quickly loses it's luster.
  21.
  22. >Cadenza walks over to you.
  23. >"C'mon Anon, let's play!"
  24. >The Princess, Celestia that is, assigned this one to play with you today.
  25. >By that, she means to keep you in sight 24/7.
  26. >She's no more a playdate than she is a pink watchdog.
  27. "I'm alright, thanks."
  28. >She frowns.
  29. >"Aww, come on, you need to cheer up!"
  30. >She skips around you.
  31. >"Let's play a game or something!"
  32. >Either she's getting horribly bored of being around you, or she actually wants you to feel better.
  33. >Option A.
  34. "A game?"
  35. >Her eyes light up, as those are nearly the first words you've spoken all day.
  36. >"Yeah! We can play I Spy, Charades...uh..."
  37. >A bit of devious thinking...
  38. "How about hide and go seek?"
  39. >"Ooo, okay! I LOVE that game!"
  40. >She starts fluttering her wings in excitement.
  41. "Hey, no flying."
  42. >With a pout, she returns to the ground.
  43. >"Fiiiine."
  44.
  45. >Like a gentleman, you offer her the first go.
  46. "You can go first, Princess."
  47. >She audibly groans.
  48. >"Princess is such a dumb title. Call me Cadance."
  49. >You roll your eyes.
  50. "Fine, Cadenza."
  51. >She glares, clearly upset with your choice of name.
  52. >"Hmph. You better start running, because when I catch you, you're getting a smack!"
  53. >She giggles and hides her face, starting to count.
  54. >"One...two..."
  55. >Now's your chance.
  56. >You bolt out of the garden area, leaving her to her counting.
  57. >Heh, what a sucker...
  58. >A game where the goal is to avoid her?
  59. >You could play that all day.
  60. >Where to spend this time, however, was a puzzle.
  61. >How could you find an effective place to hide?
  62. >She knows this castle better than you do.
  63. >Guess you have to go with what you know.
  64. >You take a sharp turn, heading for the one place you know she won't find you.
  65. >The Labyrinth.
  66.
  67. >Left, right, right, left, straight, left...
  68. >Like clockwork.
  69. >The statue of the Princesses comes into view.
  70. >The comfortable stone slab awaits you, as usual.
  71. >Taking a seat, you can only hope it takes Cadenza a while to find you...if she finds you at all.
  72. >Maybe someone will find you though.
  73. >"Hiya."
  74. >Looking to your left, the black holed being is already sitting next to you.
  75. >She holds out a hoof in your direction.
  76. >Really?
  77. >You don't respond, turning back towards the statue.
  78. >The lack of an offering confuses the changeling.
  79. >"What, no apples today?"
  80. >You roll your eyes.
  81. "Sorry, Chrissy. I was hoping me visiting would be enough."
  82. >After a small pause, she responds.
  83. >"I guess so."
  84. >Now that she mentioned it, you could also go for an apple.
  85.
  86. >"So, Cadenza's all over your flank again?"
  87. "Yeah, another Celestia Playdate."
  88. >You told her about these often.
  89. >You're pretty sure she knows as much about the young Princess as you do, considering how much you share.
  90. >"No matter how much you push her away on these, she always keeps playing with you."
  91. >Sighing, you turn towards Chrissy.
  92. "When your aunt is the Princess who raises the Sun, you don't have much of a choice."
  93. >"You suuure? Maybe it's just because she likes you!"
  94. >As she says that, you shudder.
  95. >How could anyone ever think that?
  96. >You liking a girl?
  97. >No way!
  98. >Girls are gross.
  99. "Yeah, as if I'd ever like a GIRL."
  100. >"Oh so, you don't LIKE girls?"
  101. "Never!"
  102. >"So you LIKE boys?"
  103. >And THAT just makes you gag.
  104. >Chrissy laughs at your expense.
  105. "Just shut it, I don't LIKE anything. And Cadenza surely doesn't LIKE me."
  106. >"If you say so~"
  107.
  108. >"I don't get why you just try to enjoy time with her."
  109. >You fold your arms, pouting.
  110. "She's not my friend...she's just the Princess' watchdog, keeping an eye on me."
  111. >You turn to your companion.
  112. "Besides, it's much nicer relaxing here with you."
  113. >After a flash of silence, you heave hooves coming closer.
  114. >That was a LOT faster than you had hoped.
  115. >"Ano~n, I know you're in here! I'm gonna find you!"
  116. >There goes the relaxing.
  117. >Chrissy starts freaking out.
  118. >This is normal, unfortunately.
  119. >Ever since you met her, she never wanted to see anyone else.
  120. >She said normal p0nies won't understand her like you did.
  121. >It seemed touchy, so you never questioned her.
  122. "Chrissy, calm down."
  123. >That won't work.
  124. >It was worth a shot though.
  125. >"Anon, she can't see me, I need to hide..."
  126. "Then hide!"
  127. >"but I don't want to leave yet!"
  128. >What?"
  129. "What do you mean, you have to stay hidden!"
  130. >"Yeah, but you were only here for like 5 minutes..."
  131. >She's getting all prissy NOW, of all times?!?
  132. >Stupid girls!
  133.
  134. "Chrissy, I'm sorry I didn't get to stay long, but you need to hide!"
  135. >"I'm TIRED of hiding..."
  136. >Now she's slumping on the stone bench, tears in her eyes.
  137. >STUPID GIRLS AND THEIR EMOTIONS!
  138. >You shake her.
  139. "Come on, get up, she's coming!"
  140. >"I don't care, I don't want to go back to doing nothing!"
  141. >Did she really do nothing else except see you, here?
  142. >You hear Cadenza's footsteps approach ever closer.
  143. >Think fast, kid.
  144. "Look, if you hide, I promise I'll come see you tomorrow!"
  145. >She stops crying.
  146. >"...what?"
  147. "Yes! And the next day, and every day after that!"
  148. >She stands up.
  149. >"Really? You mean it?"
  150. "YES! I don't care what it takes, I'm NOT letting you get found out right now!"
  151. >Chrissy stares at you for a brief moment, her horn glowing a dim green.
  152. >With a smile and a nod, she runs off into the maze, dashing out of your view...
  153. >...and barely escapes being noticed by Cadenza.
  154.
  155. >"Found you, Anon!"
  156. >She runs up to you, hoofing you in the gut.
  157. "OW."
  158. >"THAT'S for not saying my name correctly!"
  159. >You walk out of the Labyrinth with Cadenza.
  160. >Purposefully taking a few wrong turns.
  161. >Wouldn't want her knowing the quick way to the center, would you?
  162. >When you finally escape, she sighs.
  163. >"I'm glad we're out of there. That place gives me the creeps."
  164. "Not me, I like it in there."
  165. >"Oh..."
  166. >Silence.
  167. >"Anon, was there anyone in there with you?"
  168. >You freeze.
  169. >She turns back to look at you.
  170. >"Anon?"
  171. "No, there wasn't."
  172. >"You sure? I heard voices..."
  173. "I was talking to myself."
  174. >"..."
  175. "..."
  176. >"...you're a weirdo, you know that?"
  177. >Whew.
  178.
  179. >You're lead back to the Princess of the Sun, who is handing off the throne room to her sister for the night.
  180. "Good night, Luna."
  181. >You always had a respect for Luna, since you really liked the nighttime.
  182. >"Good night, Anon."
  183. >Luna walks towards the throne room, while you're left with Cadenza and Celestia.
  184. >"So, Anon, how was your day with my niece?"
  185. >Before you can get a word in edgewise, she explodes.
  186. >"It was GREAT! We were in the gardens, and played games, and we we were in the Labyrinth, and it was a lot of fun!!!"
  187. >Wow, she really played up a boring day.
  188. >Did she really enjoy it that much?
  189. >"That's wonderful. I trust you'd want to play with him again sometime?"
  190. >She nods happily.
  191. >Well, there's the death sentence.
  192. >Now you CAN'T avoid it.
  193. >"You can run along now, Cadenza."
  194. >"Bye Anon, it was fu~n!"
  195. >She trots off and out of the castle.
  196. >Good riddance.
  197.
  198. >Meanwhile, in a hive, hidden away from Cantorlot...
  199.
  200. >Chrysalis returns to her clutch.
  201. >She enters the cave where her hive sleeps...
  202. >The changelings there are vast in number.
  203. >As she walks through, she approaches the center of the hive.
  204. >There two changelings are seated, upon large thrones.
  205. >"Chrysalis, my dear..."
  206. >"Hi Mommy, hi Daddy."
  207. >She hugs the two figures in the thrones, clearly the queen and king of this clutch.
  208. >She was, after all, a princess.
  209. >The queen talked to her husband.
  210. >"My King...I am starving..."
  211. >"I know, my Queen. I'll have the drones bring you some food right a-"
  212. >The Queen slams her hoof down upon her throne.
  213. >"No, not for food! I'm famished...I feel powerless..."
  214. >Chrissy watched as her parents discussed.
  215. >Every day, her mother grew weaker.
  216. >She walked up to her mother and rubbed against her leg.
  217. >"There there, mommy, you'll be okay."
  218.
  219. >As her head nuzzled her mother's leg, a green energy escaped her horn.
  220. >It floated in the air, above her head.
  221. >The spiraling mass of energy caught her mother's attention.
  222. >"What..."
  223. >The mother drew her hoof towards the energy.
  224. >"This energy..."
  225. >The mass flew towards the Queen's horn, being absorbed.
  226. >A sigh of relief comes from the Queen.
  227. >"Is this..."
  228. >"...love?"
