- The History of /frz/
- In the beginning, there was only darkness...
- Week 1 /frz/ #1-30 - 29 Threads (Also takes into account missing #27 which be made up in another week) *Note Week 1 is 3 extra days longer than the other Weeks*
- >The Birth of the Pasta
- Though not the first /frz/, #00 "Frozen - A Sister Just Like You" is made by Fractals using the copypasta created by Three-Links in the previous thread.
- ---THE GOLDEN AGE---
- The Golden Age of /frz/ lasted from it's very beginning until the first major shitfest incident. It was during this Golden Age that /frz/ developed into what it would become. It also saw the establishment of some of /frz/'s most influential members and characteristics. Many of /frz/'s most influential fanfics were born during the Golden Age as well as many of the unwritten "rules" and "tenets" that /frz/ would hang onto. It also was during the Golden Age that the "old establishment" of /frz/ was molded and created, the "old establishment" being the anons and nicknamedfags who built /frz/.
- When looking back, the "old establishment" praised the Golden Age for being a time when /frz/ was friendly and peaceful. Though it was true that /frz/ was less hostile and more peaceful than in later periods, /frz/ during the Golden Age was certainly not without hostility. Shitposting and trolling were common during /frz/. The general's young age was both a blessing and a curse. Bait was easily taken, was not as obvious, and /frz/ anons had no common defense against shitposting. However there was no established order trolls could attack and not many known weaknesses and sensitive issues shitposters could take advantage of. This of course changed as /frz/ developed as a general.
- Another characteristic of the Golden Age was the lack of order. /frz/ during the Golden Age was a complete free-for-all. There was no communicating, no emails, no planning, and very few anons had nicknames. Without any major drama, /frz/ ran smoothly.
- /frz/ during the Golden Age was significantly slower than later in its life, but it still generated huge amounts of OC, some of which would fuel even more OC in later periods such as the r9kelsa AU. It is also note worthy that from the beginning Elsanna was the dominant ship and that Hans had quickly become unpopular during the beginning of the Golden Age.
- >/frz/ is Born
- On a quiet Friday afternoon, Three-Links creates the first true Frozen General "No one cares about Anna Edition" and /frz/ is born.
- >Frozen Fractals is Born
- Fractals posts the first chapter of Frozen Fractals in a pastebin during /frz/ #2. At this point /frz/ has no idea of the ride that's just beginning. The post receives little attention.
- >Greytones Posts First Art
- Greytones posts his first piece of art for /frz/ during /frz/ #3. A legend is born, despite not being refereed to as Greytones until /frz/ #38.
- >Ice on the Rhine
- During /frz/ #7, geopolitical talk is initiated by the future rhineguy which eventually becomes Ice of the Rhine http://archive.foolz.us/co/thread/56789199/#56797078
- >The Hans Subversion
- Hans finally manages to subverts Three-Links as OP. /frz/ #10 & #11 are both dedicated Hans threads. This is the only time Hansfags have successfully subverted /frz/ with the exception of /frz/ #35.
- >Final Copypasta Transformation
- For /frz/ #14, the OP copypasta is modified to its current form. Only the fanfic pastebin and the thread theme were permanent features at the time.
- >The First Tangledfag Raids
- Rapunzel avatarfagging begins during /frz/ #4 and lasts until deterring out during #8. Though minor in comparison to future shitposting, the First Tangledfag Raid marks the first large scale shitposting of /frz/. Also during this time, the Ice Trooper label is first adopted and the "Elsa hair-clipping" shitposting reaches its height.
- >Numbering Begins
- Realizing /frz/ is going to be big, Ice Troopers start numbering the threads for the first time. The first is /frz/ #17. Thread numbers aren't added to the title until /frz/ #33
- >/r9kelsa/ Begins
- Speculation on which boards which characters would visit during /frz/ #25 consensus to the idea that Elsa would visit /r9k/. The first /r9kelsa/ greentext appears in /frz/ #26 and the /r9kelsa/ AU is born. /r9kelsa/ greentext stories increase over the next few days. By /frz/ #37 /r9kElsa/'s incestuous lust for Anna has become a main theme of the AU.
- >Anti-Elsanna Shipping Wars
- During the birth of /r9kelsa/, Anti-Elsanna shitposting had reached it's height during /frz/ #26 and #27. It would eventually die off as the /r9kelsa/ AU took the spotlight and became the the new target of the critics.
- Week 2 /frz/ #31-50 - 20 Threads
- >Migration OP
- A new OP emerges with his first thread as /frz/ #37. This OP will go on to become a primary OP along side Three-Links and will eventually be known as Migration.
- >Elsa is Suffering
- After being convinced to write a story based off the /r9kelsa/ greentexts, Fractals finally posts the first chapter of the /r9kelsa/ AU Elsa is Suffering in /frz/ #47.
- Week 3 /frz/ #51-74 - 24 Threads
- ---THE REFORMATION---
- The first major shitfest, /lgbt/Thursday, had brought the Golden Age of /frz/ to an end. Following another major shitfest and the banning of one of the major OPs, /frz/ suddenly had the need for order. The Nicknamedfags, using an excel contact list, started to communicate to make it through the second shitfest while there was an OP shortage. Established lines of communications among the nicknamefags were formed as was the establishing of Three-Links and Migration (both of whom were given nicknames during the Reformation) as the primary OPs. The Reformation saw the rise and eventual fall of Late Night threads which were supposed to serve as the haven for nicknamefagging and meta discussion. The Reformation was the establishment of order within /frz/ and would have served as a transitioning period from the Golden Age into a new /frz/ caused by the influx of new members following the Great Surge had it not been for the interruption of the Winter War.
- >/lgbt/Thursday
- During the end of /frz/ #61 a small minority of anons (very likely from /lgbt/) attempted to claim Elsa was gay and that "Let if Go" was a coming out song. A shitfest had developed and took over most of /frz/ #62. Though a rather minor shitfest, /lgbt/Thursday marked the beginning of a very long and eventful weekend and would be long remembered as one of the first shitfests by /frz/ regulars.
- >Shitflinging Saturday
- With the events of /lgbt/Thursday fresh in everyone's mind, /frz/ was hit with another shitfest of even larger proportions on the following Saturday. Minor shitposting during /frz/ #69 had turned into a major shitfest during /frz/ #70 when several anons had expressed disgust and jealousy over the attention Fractals had having over her stories. The shitfest had lasted well until the night and concluded the next morning in /frz/ #72 with many anons fearing that Fractals had abandoned /frz/ due to the shitposting over the last few days. To make matters worst, Three-Links had been banned over the weekend leaving a shortage of OPs. The events of Shitflinging Saturday directly led to the establishment of lines of communications among several prominent /frz/ members and established Three-Links and Migration as the primary OPs of /frz/.
- >Wandering
- Wandering is officially given the name of Wandering during /frz/ #73.
- Week 4 /frz/ #75-108 - 34 Threads
- >The #78 Do the Lesbian Miracle
- Following the disastrous weekend, Three Links created /frz/ #78 after coming off his ban. /frz/ #78 was praised by Ice Troopers for being the best general since the early days of /frz/, though this could have been due to the fact that /frz/ was coming of several says of shitfests. However /frz/ was shocked when it came time to make /frz/ #80 as /frz/# 78 was still in the catalog. This was the first time that three generals had existed in the catalog at the same time.
- >The Namefagging
- /frz/ (nick)Namefagging had exploded during /frz/ #88 after joke discussions of a /frz/ trip to Disney World. Circlejerking among the namefags would continue until deterring out during the the Great Surge SCREENER WEEK. A /meta/ fic would eventually be written about the namefags though they managed to keep it secluded to the Late Night threads.
- >100th Edition Hypefest
- During /frz/ #95, a hype train had formed for the 100th Edition of /frz/. The hypefest carried /frz/ into Saturday morning and as a result /frz/ #100 was made during Saturday morning EST, typically slow time of day. This was major milestone for /frz/ and many Ice Troopers were unsure if the 200th edition would be reached or not.
- >The Kristelsa/Elsanna Alliance and the Great Freeze
- In an effort to appease the few and far in between Kristelsa shippers, a Kristelsa Edition was made as /frz/ #104. An alliance between Elsanna and Kristelsa was also announced. At 01:31 EST however, 4chan went down in what would be known as the Great Freeze. 4chan was visible, but no posts could be made until it came back at 13:11 almost 12 hours later. Some speculated that the Ice Waifu had brought down the Great Freeze as a result of heresy while others believed it was an act of approval from the straight Gods. Either way, /frz/ was dead for 12 hours.
- Week 5 /frz/ #109-150 - 42 Threads
- ---THE PRE-WAR PERIOD---
- The Reformation came to an end when when the Frozen screener was released and the Great Surge began. Knowing the newer members of /frz/ would be less open to the idea of meta discussion and namefag circlejerking, the nicknamefags quickly brought the meta discusion of the Late Night threads to an end and hid the /meta/ fic bringing an end to one of the main characteristics of the Reformation and solidifying the idea that the Reformation was mostly a transition period rather than a real era. One of the main characteristics of the Pre-War Period was the frustration among the "old establishment" with the newer members of /frz/ as they learned how /frz/ worked and assimilated. Besides seeing general activity double, the Pre-War Period also saw an increase in shitposting and trolling as word of /frz/ spread across 4chan thanks to the many new Frozen viewers that resulted from the screener release. Finally the Pre-War Period served as the build up for the Winter War as many of the events that happened during this time (the drama with Fractals, the attention Frozen was receiving on /tv/) led to the war. If it were not for the interruption of the Winter War, the Pre-War Period would probably have served as part of the Reformation as a transition period from the Golden Age aka old /frz/ to a new /frz/. Instead it was the transition period into the Winter War.
- >The Great Surge & Screener Leak
- On Tuesday the 7th of January, the Frozen Screener had been leaked. By /frz/ #116, a proper screener had been posted on /frz/. The screener release resulted in the Great Surge, a flood of new users to /frz/. Within a few days, /frz/ exploded from an average of three threads a day to six. With them came newfag ignorance and renewed anti-Elsanna shitposting that proved to be only minor annoyance to the established members of /frz/, but was still an inconvenience. The screener release also saw a rise in Frozen related threads on /tv/ as the poorfags over there could finally watch the movie. By the end of the week, during /frz/ #130, /frz/ had been cross-linked with the threads at /tv/. This would mark the beginning of the Winter War.
- >The Daily Reminder Debacle
- Following the screener release, Three-Links creates /frz/ #117 and reveals that he had been the Daily Reminder guy all along. The thread went off smoothly until mid way through several anons started to circlejerk over Fractals after a /frz/ related picture she had taken from earlier was posted. The circlejerking had devolved into /b/ tier stalking and had completely taken over the tread by it's end. Many Ice Troopers were so discouraged that some even called for the end of /frz/. Three Links even declared that /frz/ was dieing and announced his retirement - though he briefly came out of retirement for a one month anniversary thread. /frz/ #117 had become the thread to avoid and it is still discouraged to talk about in the open.
- ---THE WINTER WAR---
- Late Thursday night on January 9th, /frz/ is cross-linked with Frozen threads on /tv/ during /frz/ #130 bringing the Pre-War Period to an end. This marks the beginning of the Winter War which spans from /frz/ #130 until /frz/ #146 and includes the /tv/Invasion, the Occupation, the Resistance, and the Liberation. The Winter War was a devastating event that greatly impacted the future and culture of /frz/. It solidified the established order and strengthened the communication of the namefags as they attempted to fight the war. The war was a constant reminder to those who went through it about what shitposting could turn into which developed into a sort hysteria on certain topics. Even NSFW content became less safe on /frz/ as the use of reporting to desperately fight off shitposting before it turned into something worse became more common. It also interrupted the assimilation of the newer members of /frz/ and scared many of it's members away.
- >/tv/Invasion
- While there is no official beginning of the /tv/Invasion, it is commonly thought that the cross-linking of /tv/ and /frz/ #130 marks the beginning. /tv/'s presence was first noted during /frz/ #131 as were growing fears that Fractals had abandoned /frz/ following the events of the Daily Reminder Debacle. Fractals had quelled these fears with a new EiS update however the celebrations would be short-lived. News that tumblr had taken to following Eis had surfaced and drama started to form at tumblr. The drama over at tumblr had reached critical levels by /frz/ #134. By the end of /frz/ #134, Fractals had removed both "Frozen Fractals" and "Elsa is Suffering". It had come at the absolute worst time. /frz/ #134 was prematurely killed by a suspect janitor as was Migration's new thread. /frz/ #135 itself was created by a troll. Amid the confusion over the removal of Fractals fics and renewed Rapunzel avatarfagging, /frz/ was overrun by trolls and shitposters many of whom originated from /tv/.
- Despite the best efforts of Migration, the shitposters and trolls prevailed. At this point the namefags, the creative anons of /frz/, had fled and gone into hiding.
- >The Occupation
- /frz/ #137 marked the beginning of the Occupation when one anon claimed he would write the next chapter of EiS and was met with much resistance by the remaining Ice Troopers. During /frz/ #139 this anon - vorefag - posted his chapter 25 of EiS which turned out to be vorefic bait. The post received 34 replies most of which were obvious attempts at samefagging. The rest of the thread was filled with obvious samefagging and shitposting. The trolls/vorefag had attempted to create another thread, however this was blocked by the efforts of /frz/ secondary OP, Arendelle's Court Eroticist. Despite their best efforts, the Occupation continued well into /frz/ #140 & #141 (which both had been erroneously numbered). To make matters worse Migration had banned sometime during the morning leaving no dedicated OPs left. However the namefags had already begun to organize a resistance.
- >The Resistance
- On Saturday night, almost 24 hours after the fall of /frz/, Three Links had returned from retirement to lead the resistance with /frz/ #142. Despite the best efforts from the trolls they were unable to derail the thread. Three Links next unleashed /frz/ #143 Ride of the Valkyries Edition. Bait had gotten first post, but was swiftly BTFO by a janitor/mod. Vorefag attempted to derail the thread, but his efforts failed. /frz/ had returned to normal.
- >The Liberation
- /frz/ had been liberated, but it was not out of the woods yet. The namefags had kept hidden away for most of the liberation period which ranged from /frz/ #144-146 and the threads were always on edge. During /frz/ #145, Fractals had returned to the thread with "Elsa is Suffering" and attempts at shitposting were made in response, but were promptly fought off and many namefags returned to the thread in defense of /frz/. Vorefag attempted to make another bait thread, but this too was defeated. In a final act of desperation, the trolls took to spamming /pol/ images for the rest of /frz/ #146.
- ---RECONSTRUCTION Period---
- The Reconstruction Period was a brief period following the Winter War which oversaw /frz/'s transition away from the Winter War and into neo-/frz/. The Reconstruction was a time of returning to normalcy following the events of the Winter War. The Golden Globes helped bring new life into /frz/ only a few threads after the end of the Winter War. Eventually business went on as usual for /frz/ though many were on edge fearing another attack. The first weekend was a particular stressful time however everything went smoothly. The Reconstruction also saw the resumed assimilation of the newer /frz/ members and by Week 7 they had settled in which marked the beginning of neo-/frz/. Finally /frz/ had transitioned into it's new form.
- >The Golden Globes
- With the Winter War now behind, /frz/ looks to the Golden Globes with enthusiasm. The Golden Globes go smoothly for /frz/, despite concerns of a resurgent /tv/invasion which never materializes. Though losing Best Song to that loser Bono, Frozen wins best picture just in time for the newest thread. The celebration continues on until the morning.
- Week 6 /frz/ #151-194 - 45 Threads (Takes into account the #27 makeup thread)
- >The Second Tangledfag Raids
- Rapunzel avatarfagging returns for the second time starting in /frz/ #153 and develops into Rapunzel/Elsa/Anna avatarfagging by /frz/ #154. Though the avatarfagging concludes, the shitposting it caused lingers for the next thread.
- >Liberate Hans Movement
- The pro-Hans movement takes off during /frz/ #185. Though annoying, the Hansfags didn't do more than attempt to get the first post with Liberate Hans copypasta. Eventually the Free Hans movement slowly petered out until it's final collapse following the disastrous events of the Hans Insurrection of /frz/ #207.
- >The Bellsa Shipping War
- After EiS introduces the character Bella and the Bellsa ship, fanart starts to appear and resentment of the new ship grows. After greytones released Bellsa fanart, Bellsa fans attempted to claim that Bellsa was the OTP in /frz/ #192. In uncharacteristic move, Elsanna shippers took the offensive against Bellsa and kicked off a shipping war that devoured the entire thread. The war was brief only lasting until the end of the thread, but it was also very intense. It was one of the first times that Elsanna was not on the defensive.
- Week 7 /frz/ #195-244 - 50 Threads
- ---NEO-/FRZ/---
- A noticeable change had taken place on /frz/ following the surge of new users during the Great Surge. The newest members had finally started to settle in during the Reconstruction Period after being interrupted by the Winter War. Within the week, the newer members of /frz/ had settled in much like the original members of /frz/ had done several weeks before. It wasn't until a week later however, that the old order had finally accepted that old /frz/ was no more. It was dubbed neo-/frz/ by the established order. One of the several characteristic of neo-/frz/ was a shifting of attitudes towards Hans and the Helsa ship and a slight shifting away from Elsanna dominance.
- Another concept of neo-/frz/ was Euro/frz/. Originally a joke about the European hours of /frz/ and the depressing and cynical attitude of European /frz/ users that turned into a daily occurrence that usually went from the morning to the evening of American Eastern Standard Time. Some "Euro/frz/" members developed a superiority complex and claimed Euro/frz/ was the superior time or made claims that "Euro/frz/" was over when a thread would go to shit. These claims would of course lead to /int/-tier and cross border shitposting.
- Another characteristic of neo-/frz/ was a /soc/ infestation. Though /meta/ talk developed during the Reformation among the nicknamefags, they had managed to squash it and eventually keep it out of /frz/. The /soc/ infestations was characterized by many attempts to discuss the users of /frz/ such as asking a|s|l. Ironically many of the /soc/-tier discussions took place during Euro/frz/. Another characteristic of the /soc/ infestation was the arrival a drawfag and his fans who came from /soc/. The drawfag (nick)namefagged without actually earning one from /frz/ and was soon hated by several members of /frz/ for "avatarfagging, attention whoring, and samefagging". By Week 8, the mere mention of his name and artwork (which was reposted very often by himself and others) provoked many episodes of shitposting.
- Another characteristic of /frz/ was the use of Frodo spamming in which pictures of Frodo were used to spam questions about the plot-holes of Frozen and other usually already answered questions. Occasionally Frodo would ask legitimate questions, but during Week 7 the use of Frodo had reached beyond shitposting levels. However by Week 8, it had died down to the point where Frodo had become a part of the threads especially when legitimate questions were asked.
- A final characteristic of neo-/frz/ was an increase of general hostility in comparison to older times. /frz/ more often broke into minor hostilities and shitflinging than before though these incidents didn't always expand into major shitfests. They did however contribute to keeping the threads-per-day average at Great Surge levels as well as increasing the number of threads-per-week despite a general feeling that "/frz/ was slowing down". The reasons for the general hostility aren't clear, but most likely have to do with competing interests and attitudes between the old establishment and the new /frz/ members, the /soc/ infestation, and targeting by trolls.
- >The Bicentennial Celebration
- Unlike the Centennial celebration, /frz/ #200 was not prematurely set off by a five thread hypetrain. It did however shatter previous records as the fastest thread lasting only one hour and 34 minutes. The hypefest formed at the beginning of the thread, but when Fractals updated EiS with a particularly angsty chapter, the hypefest exploded and carried it all the way to the end in and hour. The celebrations and Elsanna shipping had dominated the thread and drowned out the few shitposters that pathetically attempted to derail it. By next thread /frz/ had burned itself out and the shitposters moved quickly to gain the initiative. Anti-Fractals, possibly led by unpopular and upset writefags, were on the offensive most of /frz/ #201. The shitposting fizzled out towards the end of the thread though and all went back to normal.
- >The Hans Insurrection of /frz/ #207
- The Liberate Hans movement concluded with the Hans Insurrection which occurred on Tuesday evening. The primary OPs had been standing by to create a new thread, but were beat by a Hans thread which was posted prematurely, but still late enough to be considered legitimate. Three-Links and Migration both decided to go along with the pre-planned thread and posted the real /frz/ #207 four minutes later breaking traditional convention that seniority ruled for new threads. Despite a significantly higher post count, the non-Hans thread eventually came out on top. One dedicated Hansfag, unknown if HansOP or not, resorted to shitposting in /frz/ #207 and threatened to ban /frz/ from /co/ by spamming new threads. Another attempt to make a new thread was made, this time as a Kristelsa thread, but was beat out by seniority by /frz/ #208. It is unknown if this thread was a false flag by the angry hansfag or a newfag attempting to contribute however when "delete please, and stop being an ass. you know there's other anons that already have this covered" was posted in his thread, it was promptly spammed in /frz/ #208 to all OC. The Hans Insurrection was promptly shut down by the end of /frz/ #209.
- >Psychology Wars & Third Tangledfag Raid
- The Psychology Wars started towards the end of /frz/ #235 over discussion over headcanon on Elsa's psychological issues. The debate carried into /frz/ #236, but turned into a flamewar that expanded beyond Elsa headcanons which of course led to shitposting. Several anons attempted to stop the shitposting, but ended up shitposting themselves. The actual shitposting was very brief and started calming down a third of the way through the thread and would have died out and been remembered as one of the many insignificant events of /frz/ if not for a fatal error by one anon attempting to defuse the situation. One anon attempted to stop the already dieing shitposting by posting Rapunzel. The Tangled avatarfag(s) flocked to the thread which kicked off the Third Tangledfag Raid. Throughout the thread, Tangled avatarfagging brought the topic of the Psychology Wars back, restarting the shitposting until finally bump limit had been reached. The Pyschology Wars and Third Tangledfag Raid died with /frz/ #236. An attempt to carry over the shitposting into /frz/ #237, but it was ignored.
- Week 8: #245-284 - 39 Threads
- Week 9: #285-324 - 40 Threads
- >The Tricentennial
- >The /dis/ Subversion Scare
- Week 10: #325-
