- The Fate of Anonymous. - 8 - The Chase -
- >You felt nothing...
- >Nothing...
- >Why the fuck can't you feel anything. You're pretty sure it would take you a while to bleed to death.
- >You begin to pay attention to your surroundings and open up your eyes.
- >You hear howling as a blaze of fire is running in circles in front of you.
- >The timber wolf had been set ablaze by your torch that you'd just lit.
- >Anger fills your heart at the sight of the burning wolf. It was practically there.
- >It had you. It could have been courteous enough to kill you before incinerating into ash.
- >You're shoulder slump to your side as you pick yourself up. It really wasn't even fair.
- >You didn't feel much like going exploring at the current moment, so you sat at your new camp fire, taking in the night air.
- >Even though this forest was supposed to be dangerous, you had no fear. After all, the worst that could happen is that you survive.
- >Leaving you with nothing but your thoughts you ponder the events in your life that lead up to this moment.
- >How you lost anything dear to you. How you was betrayed by those you thought closest. How everyone was just out to help themselves.
- >There was no happiness. There was never happiness. Only hate, anger, depression, sorrow.
- >It's strange to think that you CAN know one without the other. Maybe you were just the exception to the rule.
- >You think of recent says gone passed. Of how you'd reached your new hell.
- >Was it possible that you was actually already dead? This was your penance for the sin of suicide?
- >You feel pretty alive right now. You're still pretty sure that death was just that feeling of the void.
- >The fire has died down to smouldering embers now. It still produced quite a bit of heat though.
- >You sit by the side for another five minutes before deciding it's best to move on, see what else can kill you.
- >You walk through the forest, wielding the flame to your far right. For safety's sake.
- >If you come across something else, you don't want to kill it before it kills you.
- >Wondering aimlessly you try to recall some of the "Horrible Monsters" that Fluttershy had told you about.
- >Let's see, You've got the timber wolfs, although you've already killed one. Then you had Manticores.
- >Creatures with the bodies of a lion and a scorpions tail. To top it all off they had wings.
- >That just screams deadly. Hope you find one of them.
- >What else did Fluttershy say? Cockatrice was it? Some weird snake thing with wings and the head of a chicken.
- >Apparently it could turn someone to stone with its gaze. You suppose that's kinda like death.
- >You're sure there was something about a plant as well, but it slips your mind.
- >You continue to march through the tree line. You had nothing to worry about.
- >Hearing a bush to your left rustle you jump to attention. This would hopefully be something useful.
- >Approaching the bush you shake it furiously, hoping to anger whatever is inside it.
- >A cockatrice comes flying out and begins its speedy retreat.
- >What?
- >You thought these were supposed to be evil?
- >The chase is now on. You run after the cockatrice as it dodges and darts around trees and foliage.
- >This was not how you envisaged your encounter with a cockatrice going.
- >It launches itself over a tree branch as you vault over a log. This cockatrice WOULD turn you to stone.
- >You manage to close the gap, maybe only inches away from the grasp of your finger tips.
- >It starts beating it's wings furiously in an attempt to escape. Oh hell no!
- >With one sudden burst of energy your clasp it in your sweaty hands.
- >It squirms in your hands as you hold it tight. Its desperately looking in every direction except yours.
- >Sliding your hands up to its head you force it to look directly at you.
- >It's staring you in the eyes although nothing's happening.
- >Just great, the one cockatrice you find is a fucking coward. Fine then, time to make it mad.
- "Your body is bad and you should feel bad."
- >Still nothing
- "Oh! Come on! What are you!? Scooterloo or something!?"
- >The fire in its eye rival that of the fires of Hades.
- >You stare into its rage filled eyes.
- "Good, let the hate flow through you."
- >That's when you feel it. Your toes have gone numb. They're unable to move.
- >You want to look down, although you feel compelled to keep staring at its eyes.
- >Gradually the numbness moves up your legs, reaching your lower stomach.
- >You feel your body going rigid. It was painless. Nobody would ever find you all the way out here.
- >The stare of the Cockatrice never once falter. Returning the stare with a smile you feel your fingers go rigid.
- >You were nearly a complete statue. Unable to feel anything below the chest.
- >It brought questions to mind as to how you were even still alive, considering most of your vital organs were now stone.
- >You would say that your heart turned to stone, although that happened many years ago.
- >'Hey. Hey, Anon.'
- >What is it brain?
- >'Guess What?'
- >What?
- >'You're getting stoned right now... pfft.'
- >Thanks for ruining this moment of total bliss for me brain.
- >'It had to be thought.'
- >Internal monologue over you recognise that you're left with just your face.
- >Everything else is completely transformed into stone.
- >Looks like Fluttershy finally did something right. Telling you about these monsters.
- >It's only fair, she did foil one of your other attempts.
- >Your vision goes black as your eyes turn to stone. You've reached elation.
- >As reality dissipates into nullity you manage your final world.
- "Thank you Fluttershy."
