- >The sun is finally setting as you enter your house.
- “Granny, I’m home!”
- >”Did ya finally get yerself a mare?” She calls out from the kitchen
- You walk into the kitchen and sit down. “Nah. Rarity started bugging me while I was talking to Roseluck.” You sit back. “Hell, she even told me she wasn’t going to bug me for a whole week. A WHOLE WEEK!” You spread your hands in emphasis.
- >”Boy, ah’m jus’ gonna tell ya now.” She stares at you.
- “I’m all ears.”
- >”That girl Rarity has the hots fer ya.”
- >You face palm.
- >Granny only smirks.
- “You really don’t think I know that?” You say between your fingers. “Twilight has told me so many times, it’s sickening.”
- >”Maybe ya should just give ‘er a chance. Ah betcha she would appreciate a nice male in her life.”
- “But she’s snooty and sometimes a dick, sorry about the language Granny, but it’s true.” You lean back in your chair.
- >She simply nods her head as she heads back into the living room, leaving you to your thoughts.
- >You continue to sit in the chair, not saying a word until you look at the clock.
- >9:30pm
- >You get up and walk to the fridge.
- >Taking a few juice boxes and some snacks, you set them on the table.
- “Now, where is my backpack?” You mumble to yourself.
- >You do a quick check around the kitchen.
- >Nothing.
- >You take your search to you room.
- >You try not to make a sound since everyone is probably sleeping.
- >The stairs were the worst part.
- >They were old so every step let out an audible creak as you tip toed up the stairs.
- >As you continued to sneak to your room, you stop at AJ’s door.
- >You push open the door and look to see if she is really sleeping.
- >She is, good, she is a heavy sleeper.
- >You pull your head out of her room and begin creeping back to your room.
- >That’s when the toilet flushes.
- >You freeze for a second then remember that this is your house too.
- >Who gives a shit if these guys see you walking to your room?
- >Then the bathroom door opens up and out walks Big Mac.
- >He hasn’t noticed you standing in the hallway.
- “Were you masturbating?”
- >He quickly turns around and stares at you.
- “Well?”
- >”Ya ain’t gonna tell Granny, are ya?!”
- >You start to laugh, ready to tell him you were just kidd-
- “Wait, what?”
- >”Ah said, ‘Ya ai-‘”
- “Yea, I heard you. You were really jacking off?”
- >His eyes shift left and right.
- “Dude, that’s just, NO! You never admit you were masturbating!” You shout whisper at him.
- >”We’re both guys so ah thoug-“
- “I don’t want to know if you were choking the chicken, wait, why the hell am I still talking to you about this, get the hell out of my way.” You say as you push past him.
- >You feel dirty as you accidently brush against him.
- >Before you step into your room, you poke your head out and shake your head at him.
- >He simply puts his head down and goes back into his room.
- >You quickly scan your room for your backpack.
- >It’s next to your night stand.
- >Scooping that bag up, you tuck a pillow, a blanket, and a sack of bits in it then walk back to the kitchen.
- >You throw the juice boxes and the snacks in there.
- >Mainly cookies, brownies, and a bunch of candy.
- “Alright, I’m all set.” You mumble to yourself as you throw the bag over your shoulder and begin your walk into the orchard.
- >Ever since you started coming out here every night to make sure Scoots wasn’t alone, you began to notice how beautiful the night was.
- >The autumn winds would cool you down with a simple breeze. The trees would slowly sway back in forth as you continued your walk. The luminous moonlight would be your guide, dropping its graceful light onto the floor. The creatures of the night would scamper around as owls sat high above, warning them that they are there, watching.
- >You walk through a few low branches and some bushes to come face to face with your destination.
- >Adjusting the strap on the bag, you walk up to the door and knock.
- >You see Scoots looking at you through the window with a smile plastered on her face.
- >She was always happy to see you.
- >Opening the door, you crawl on in and sit against the wall.
- “I brought some snacks scoots. Some blankets too.”
- >”You didn’t need to bring extra blankets Anon, “She sees the pillow you brought. It was her favorite, but also yours. “But that pillow is always welcome!”
- “Yea, yea,” You hand her the pillow. “Oh, and this too!” You drop the bag of bits on the floor.
- >She simply stares at the bag.
- >She points at herself. “For me?”
- >You smile and nod.
- >”You didn’t need to give me this…”
- “Think of it as an early birthday present.”
- >”My birthday was two months ago though.”
- “A really early birthday present.”
- >She giggles as she opens a juice box.
- “So what did you do all day?”
- >*sip* “Not much, just practiced my scooter skills and wandered around town, then went to your house to eat.”
- “Oh yea. How’s school been going?”
- >”It goes well, but it’s boring.”
- “Yea, school does suck.”
- >”What about you Anon? What did you do all day?”
- “Well, I was trying to talk to Roseluck but Rarity started talking to me and then had me do some stuff for her.”
- >She takes another sip. “Yea, Rarity sure does like you, Anon.”
- You roll your eyes. “Tell me about it.”
- >Scootaloo continues to dig into the snacks as you watch.
- >You look to the ceiling.
- “Hey scoots.”
- >She looks at you as she puts a cookie in her mouth. “Hmm?”
- “What are you going to do for winter?”
- >The tension began to build instantaneously.
- >She doesn’t give a response but drops her head a bit.
- “I see…”
- >The both of you sit in silence.
- >After a minute of silence, Scootaloo goes back to eating cookies while you tap your fingers on the floorboard.
- >You take one of the juice boxes and as you are about to poke your straw through, Scootaloo speaks up.
- >”I get cold…”
- >You only blink.
- >She begins to sniffle. “And I’m alone…”
- “Not anymore you’re not.” You slide over to her and put your hand on her head, giving her that reassuring smile of yours.
- >She smiles at that but her emotions change quickly.
- >She rips her head from under your hand.
- >She begins crying. Hate and sorrow fill her eyes. ”But where were you when I was cold and all by myself!”
- “Scoots, I had no ide-“ She interrupts you.
- >”NO! WHY NOW, HUH?! WHY DID YOU SUDDENLY START CARING FOR ME?!” Her breathing increases.
- “Scoots…”
- >”ANSWER ME!”
- >You only stare at her, your face a blank slate as you take the situation in.
- >”WELL?!”
- “I-I don’t real-“
- >”YOU DON’T?! YOU DON’T WHAT?!” She screams at you as her eyes scan your face, constantly switching back and forth between your eyes, searching for an answer.
- >You can feel your anger erupting from within.
- >This little filly isn’t letting you finish.
- >You can feel the air you breathed in filtering through your larynx.
- >Anger and pity encasing the words you are about to speak.
- >Your face twists into one of annoyance as you sit up.
- “BECAUSE I KNOW WHAT IT’S LIKE!” You say with a sting.
- >Scootaloo steps back.
- >Her face that showed only anger quickly dissipated into one of fear.
- >”H-huh?”
- “YEA, YOU HEARD ME! I SAID I KNOW WHAT IT’S LIKE!” You position yourself so you are on your knees. “I KNOW EXACTLY WHAT IT’S LIKE TO BE ALONE! HELL, I WAS BROUGHT TO THIS WORLD SOMEHOW WHEN I WAS JUST A LITTLE KID! DO YOU KNOW WHAT IT WAS LIKE? TO BE BROUGHT TO SOME OTHER AREA, NO, A-WHOLE-NOTHER WORLD?! THEN TO FIND OUT THAT YOU’RE THE ONLY ONE OF YOUR KIND?!”
- >Scootaloo wasn’t afraid anymore; matter of fact, her anger came back. “YEA, BUT YOU DIDN’T HAVE TO SURVIVE ON YOUR OWN! GRANNY SMITH FOUND YOU BY THE BRID-“
- “YEA, SHE DID! BUT SHE DIDN’T FIND ME THERE UNTIL A FEW WEEKS AFTERWORDS! I ATE THINGS THAT YOU PROBABLY WOULDN’T EVEN DARE TO TOUCH!” You stare at her with fire in your eyes.
- >She wasn’t going to win this one, that’s for damn sure.
- >She brought up a touchy subject for you, and for her.
- >But she stares at you, the same fire in her eyes as yours.
- >The few moments that passed felt like hours.
- >You feel the adrenaline leaving your veins as your face begins to relax.
- >You close your eyes and rub your temples as you lean back against the wall.
- >Taking a deep breathe in, you open your eyes and stare at Scootaloo.
- >She still stares at you, but she’s beginning to relax as tears run down her face.
- “Scoots…” You feel yourself choking up as you look at the small, orange filly. ”I-I’m sorry.”
- >She slowly sits back on her haunches and breathes a heavily.
- >You lean forward and pick her up.
- >She doesn’t resist as you pull her into your chest.
- >Quick gasps for air and sniffling is all she does as she buries her head into your chest.
- >Streams begin to form on your cheeks as you apologize.
- “I’m so sorry for yelling like that.” You whisper over and over again.
- >You begin to brush her hair.
- “Just let it all out…” You murmur.
- >That night you slept in the tree house as Scoots fell asleep in your arms.
- >There was a lot of pain thrown around in that brief time period.
- >Pain that the both of you needed to voice out.
- >But you only felt guilty that it was with a mere filly.
- >One that understood you.
- >The next morning you woke to a small, orange, bundle of cuteness sleeping on your chest.
- >A blanket was thrown over the two of you.
- >She must have done that while you were sleeping.
- >You nudge her to wake up.
- “Scoots, hey, Scoots, you gotta wake up now.”
- >Her eyes groggily open up and stare at you. “Good morning,” She yawns. “Anon.” She closes her eyes again and gets comfortable.
- “Good morning to you too.”
- >You look out the window.
- >The sun was just now rising.
- “Hey, Scoots?”
- >”Hmm?”
- “I have Cider duty today, and well, you’re kinda hindering me from doing that…”
- >Her eyes immediately pop open.
- >”I’m sorry!” She says as she hops off.
- >You sit up and crack you back.
- >The sound of a few pops was music to your ears.
- >You quickly crawl over to the door and open it.
- >Right as you’re about to leave you hear Scoots call your name.
- >”Anon?”
- You look back at her and smile. “Don’t worry about it; we’ll talk about when I get back.”
- >She smiles back at you. “Okay.”
- “Oh, and if you want, you can go to the house and shower up then eat and wait around there for me.” You notion towards the house. “Or you can go get something to eat with the bits I gave you. Your choice, but I have to head out now. Peace!” You say as you close the door.
- >”Bye Anon.” She waves.
- >As you sprint towards the front of the farm, you feel lighter.
- >Like a ton of weight has been lifted from your shoulders.
- “Thanks Scoots.” You smile.
- >TAHM SKIP
- “Holy crap today was easy.” You stretch your arms above your head.
- >”Ah sure hope yer being sarcastic sugarcube, because that was hell.” AJ says as she stretches forward as the sound of her back cracks.
- >Twilight plops down on the ground. “We had fifteen barrels gone in a mere half hour!”
- >”I don’t think I can fly home tonight…” Rainbow says as she fans her wings.
- >Fluttershy merely lies face down in the dirt.
- >Pinkie, well, she’s Pinkie.
- >Rarity is complaining that her hooves hurt.
- “C’mon now girls, we only have one more day and then it’s all done.”
- >”Well, this lady needs a hooficure, unless somep0ny wants to give me a hoofrub?” She gives you a sly look and raises her eyebrows.
- >Just as you were about to say no, everyp0ny else started asking for one.
- >Even Big Mac.
- >You glared at him.
- >”All a-ya can get yer hooves rubbed after we get some barrels made for tomorrah!” Granny’s rickety voice calls out.
- >Everyone groans.
- >”Can we get a few moments of a break Granny?” AJ asks.
- >”Rest as long as needed youngins.” With that, she walks back to the house.
- >After ten minutes of everyone lying around, AJ finally spoke up. “Alraght gang, let’s get this over with so we can all go home and rest, because ah have a feeling tomorrow is going to be the hardest day yet.”
- >Everyp0ny gets to their hooves and walk back over to the front gate.
- >Everyp0ny except Mac.
- “Mac, get the hell up.”
- >”Do ya think ya can switch with me?”
- “You want me to run for you while you buck apples?”
- >He nods.
- “I guess I can do that.”
- >The rest of the afternoon progressed as the eight of you manage to make fifty barrels for tomorrow.
- >The girls decided to go to the spa.
- >You know it’s been a rough day when Rainbow goes with them.
- >Big Mac simply walks back to the house to eat and catch some Z’s, he’s earned them.
- >And for you, you went back home and showered up.
- >Then you went searching for Scootaloo since she wasn’t at the house waiting.
- >It didn’t take long to find her.
- >She was at the club house with Sweetie and Apple Bloom.
- >And they were all eating the snacks you brought as they went over their CMC routine.
- “Howdy girls.”
- >”Hi Anon!” They all say in unison.
- “What are y’all doing?”
- >”We’re trying to come up with ways to get out cutie marks!” Sweetie exclaims, her voice cracking.
- >”Yea! We don’t want to be blank flanks ferever Anon!” Apple Bloom says.
- >You look at Scootaloo expecting her to say something.
- >She just beams at you.
- “Alright then, I’ll leave you three to your Cutie Mark Crusading, see ya.” As you close the door, Scootaloo winks at you.
- >You only wink back.
- >You guys will talk another time.
- >For now, she can enjoy her two best friends.
