- >This night in Canterlot was a lively one
- >A national holiday had been declared in celebration of Twilight Sparkle's ascension to the royal family
- >Colorful paper lanterns are strung up on clothseline down every street, bathing the city proper in a warm glow
- >Vendor stalls line cobbled streets, hawking little baubles and foods from all corners of the globe at greatly reduced prices
- >Ponies flooded the streets of Caterlot, singing, dancing, and cheering in joy
- >At Canterlot castle, the festivities were really getting under way
- >The entire first floor of the palace had been opened up to the public, and ponies dressed in their finest evening-ware wandered the halls, partaking in the finest of wines and most delectable of hors d'oeuvres
- >Celestia, Luna, and Cadence gracefully milled about the grand ballroom, mingling with guests and generally enjoying themselves.
- >After the official coronation, the three Alicorns promptly shed their ceremonial vestments
- >Now sporting nothing but their tiaras they did their best to divert attention from themselves, and onto their new counterpart
- >After all, Tonight was for Twilight Sparkle
- >And speaking of Twilight Sparkle
- "No, no mom, I'm okay really! I’m just feeling a little overwhelmed, and a little fresh air should clear that up."
- >Twilight Velvet was fussing over her newly royal daughter, alternating between sobbing and giggling
- “A-are you sure you’re alright sweetheart? This is all happening so fast! ”
- >Twilight’s mother whickered and pranced with nervous energy
- “You can’t go off by yourself, w-what, what if someone tries to assassinate you!”
- >With enough dramatics to give Rarity pause, Twilight’s mother wails and bursts in to tears
- “Mom!”
- >Twilight’s father, Nightlight, rubs the bridge of his nose with a hoof
- >His wife could become quite carried away at times…
- “You know what, I think getting some fresh air is a great idea honey. We should do the same thing Velvet.” He says, nudging his wife towards the nearest door.
- >Feeling a little concerned for her mother, Twilight thinks of a way to get her mind in a better place
- >What could possibly distract her in a situation like this?
- >After a moment an impish smile worms it’s way across her face
- >Nightlight unconsciously tenses at the sight.
- >In the past, that smile had been the harbinger of some of the most horrific childhood mischief known to pony kind
- “You know mom, I heard Shiny and Cadance talking about having a baby the other day. I think they were coming up with names!”
- “Baby talk, really?” her mother gasped, with hint of per prior distress
- >With a girlish squeal, Twilight Velvet rears into the air before taking off at a gallop
- >Nightlight was being pulled through the air like a balloon, helpless in the grasp of his wife’s telekinetic grasp
- “Wait honey, we don’t even know where they are! Stop! TWILIGHT!”
- >Giggling at her
- "-and, assuming we've isolated all chronitrons from the area of... effect... well then..."
