  5.
  6.
  7. >Never before has Chrysalis seen such violence and hatred.
  8. >Her attempt to read the mind of her newest pawn has backfired considerably.
  9. >How could anything make sense of such madness?
  10. >Madness... yes, of course. Naturally Discord would be unperturbed.
  11. >Still, she drank in too much. She did not question her own sanity.
  12. >What is this? The creature cared for her?
  13. >She attempts to focus on the memories of her subjects in the parlor.
  14. >Mixing medicine... carried to a bed...
  15. >How long has she been unconscious?
  16. >More importantly, how long has it been since she had fed?
  17. >The form underneath your left arm and leg shifted, jolting you from sleep.
  18. >”Anonnn...nymous?”
  19. “Chrysalis! Are you alright?”
  20. >”Where... am I?”
  21. “I, uh, kinda took you to bed with me last night. How’re you feeling?”
  22. >”Nnnngghh... I’m.... famished...”
  23. “You must be, I haven’t seen you eat anything since... wait...”
  24. >Didn’t her kind feed on love? Where could you get that?
  25. “Ah, Chrys? Where exactly can I-”
  26. >”Anonymous?”
  27. “Yeah, what’s up?”
  28. >”Do I... remember correctly? Did you... do you care for me? Anonymous?”
  29. >Do you? She IS the only thing in... a long time that you’ve had these feelings for.
  30. >Not to mention her position as the only real anchor in the swirling seas you’ve been placed in.
  31. “I, uh... I guess so? I mean... Yes, Chrysalis, I do. I do care for you. Very much, I think.”
  32. >”Then you must feed me your love! You must! I’m not sure if I can make it...”
  33. “Okaaaay. Forgive me, Chrysalis, I don’t even know whe-”
  34. >”Normally I would use magic to feed, but I... I think it may be better if we try this another way.”
  35. >She turns around under you, bringing her snout close to your face.
  36. >”Anonymous...”
  37. >Her tongue slides out from a gap in her mouth, closing in on your own.
  38. >You bring up your right arm and grasp the back of her head, bringing it close and sealing the kiss.
  39. >Half-lidded eyes gaze into your own, beckoning you to begin the act.
  40. >The best way to feed one love, you figure, is to make it.
  41.
  42.
  43. >Black
  44. >Black
  45. >Black
  46. >Wet
  47. >Black
  48. >Wait, what? Wet?
  49. >Is that?
  50. >”Anonymous? Anonymous!”
  51. >Oh, that’s a tongue. Silly you.
  52. “Chrysalis? What-?”
  53. >”Oh Anonymous! I’m so sorry! I got a bit too hungry and I... Are you alright? Anonymous?”
  54. >You open your eyes. Chrysalis had removed herself and now stood off to the side.
  55. >The “meal” you gave her seems to have restored her strength.
  56. “Ah, yeah, Chrysalis. I’m fine, I think. I... passed out, I take it? That’s never happened before...”
  57. >”Yes, darling, I apologize! I should have warned you. That does have a tendency to happen.”
  58. >Yeah, leagues better than any succubus.
  59. “Uh huh... So, you’re feeling better, I take it?”
  60. >”Oh WORLDS better. Your love is so very... potent...”
  61. >A salacious gleam in her emerald eyes flares, proof of your ability.
  62. >”Now then, we just have to get you up and...”
  63. >A viridian glow surrounds you, a gentle pull entices you to get up.
  64. >You can’t help but chuckle to yourself.
  65. “Alright, alright! I’m getting up!”
  66. >So this was all real. Or you were far beyond the mountains of madness.
  67. >Whichever it was, for the first time in years you felt what was by now a strange, foreign emotion
  68. >Happiness.
  69.
  70.
  71.
  72. >A few specks of sunlight filtered their way through the canopy to the forest floor.
  73. >An early night's sleep made for an early day’s start.
  74. >Twilight only liked early starts when she’d planned for them. Late night studies were more to her
  75. satisfaction.
  76. >Oh well, the sooner she finished this task was the sooner she could return to her studies.
  77. >Applejack, always the early riser, was finishing packing her belongings up.
  78. >Fluttershy as well, that morning lark, was already done and munching on some trail mix.
  79. >”’Bout time ya got up, Twilight! Now ya said ya’d cook us up some chow, I think?” Applejack says,
  80. >”Alright, alright. Stupendous Sparkle Surprise, coming up!” Twilight groggily replies,
  81. >Twilight was hardly the best cook around, but this little trip WAS her idea.
  82. >That didn’t mean she had to do it alone, though.
  83. >”C’mon Pinkie, rise and shine!”
  84. >Twilight prods the pink party-p0ny with a forehoof.
  85. >”Nnngh... Gummy, not now...” Pinkie grumbles
  86. >”Come ON sleepyhead! The sooner we get started is the sooner we can have a party!”
  87. >That did it.
  88. >”Mnngh... party? Whakinda-*yawn*-party are you talking about? I’m up for a party!”
  89. >”The ‘We really need to get started or we’ll be stuck here another night’ kind.”
  90. >”Oh, one of THOSE parties. Not my favorite kind, but any party is a good party by me!”
  91. >Applejack moves to the side of the camp where Rainbow and Rarity lay.
  92. >Rarity, of course, had brought an entirely too comfortable ensemble.
  93. >”C’mon you two. Time to start shakin’ flanks!” Applejack goes over and pokes at Rainbow and Rarity.
  94. >”Applejack, not now... I’m just going to stay here and sleep.” Rainbow replies somewhat grumpily,
  95. >”You wouldn’t, ‘cause you’re about as tired o’ this wild goose chase as any of us.”
  96. >”Urgh! Just how is a lady supposed to get her beauty sleep with all this racket!?” Rarity exclaims,
  97. >”All what racket? All I hear are the wonderful sounds of the morning birds.” Fluttershy says,
  98. >”Alright, Twilight, that’s all of us. Now, if you wouldn’t mind, Twilight, I’m kinda hungry...” Applejack pipes in,
  99. >”Uh, please, I’m STARVING.” Rainbow says,
  100. >”And maybe you can tell us exactly how much longer we’ll be?” Rarity asks,
  101. >”Just a few minutes.... Hey Pinkie, I could use your help over here.” Twilight requests.
  102.
  103.
  104.
  105. >The six p0nies approach a wide-mouthed cavern several hundred hooves away. Two symmetrical grooves are cut into the forest floor leading inside.
  106. >”Well, the tracks end here. I guess we have no choice but to head on in.” Twilight notes,
  107. >”Oh, Twilight, please no! You know how much I don’t like caves! So dark... and scary... Can’t I stay here?” Fluttershy asks in a shrinking whisper,
  108. >”If you REALLY want to stay in this dark forest, all alone, then I guess-”
  109. >”Eep! N-no... I guess I’ll come with...”
  110. >The six p0nies slowly amble into the shadowed cavern.
  111. >”We’ll need some light. Rarity, a little help?” Twilight requests,
  112. >”But of course! I only hope I might find some gems after all this.” Rarity states,
  113. >Two gleams of light begin to emanate from their horns.
  114. >The cave, now slightly illuminated, seems to stretch on for miles.
  115. >”Come on, let’s get going.” Rainbow states with exhaustion,
  116. >”Um, girls? Do any of you feel like we’re being... watched?” Fluttershy warily asks,
  117. >”I dunno, Fluttershy. All I know is that I want to get this done before I go crazy.” AJ responds.
  118. >Two aqua lights glimmer in the distance.
  119. >Little do the p0nies know that their presence has already been reported.
  120.
  121.
  122.
  123. >One of Chrysalis’s subjects bursts into the parlor, anxiousness plastered on its visage.
  124. >She focuses hard on it as an unspoken understanding passes between them.
  125. >”Anonymous? We have some visitors making their way here.”
  126. “Visitors? What do you mean?”
  127. >”Those blasted Elements are blundering through this cavern system. As tempted as I am to kill and replace them, it may be best for you if I don’t. After all, Celestia can easily detect my kind, not to mention the prestige you would gain from having the Elements vouch for your, mm hm hm hm, ‘benevolent’ intentions. More likely than not they’re following your trail. It would be best if I were to leave. Prepare yourself, Anonymous.I expect your brilliance to shine gloriously!”
  128. “Hey, whoa, wait a minute. What am I supposed to do next?”
  129. >”You may as well take this opportunity to begin your infiltration of Equestrian society. I expect it may be awhile before we’ll see each other again. I’ll do my best to keep my eye on you, Anonymous.” She grins widely at you, a gleam in her eye. “And you can be sure I won’t forget the most delectable meal I’ve had in ages. Take care, darling. I believe in you. Mm hm hm hm!”
  130. >Chrysalis passes out the door and heads down the stairwell, changeling in tow.
  131. >Alright, Anon, alright. Think.
  132. >Six p0nies are headed your way, probably with quite a few questions in mind.
  133. >This has to be the strangest delusion you’ve ever heard of. Although its consistency is somewhat alarming. You pause to ponder the ramifications of this.
  134. >Whether truly reality or not, you’re stuck here for now.
  135. >Time to roll with the punches.
  136.
  137.
  138.
  139. >The cavern walls are beaded with moisture from the humid air.
  140. >After a certain distance, a few thousand hooves, the cave takes on a more uniform appearance.
  141. >”Is it just me, girls, or does this place seem a little too consistent for a cave?” Twilight asks,
  142. >”Oh, yes, I noticed that. It sort of reminds me of where *gulp* d-d-dragons store their hoards... You don’t think there are any dragons here, do you?” Fluttershy gulps,
  143. >”Naw, I don’t think there’s any DRAGONS here. I do think we’ve found probin’ central, though.” Applejack grumbles,
  144. >It takes all she can muster to not throw her hoof into her face. Twilight sighs instead.
  145. >”Anyway, I think we might be getting close. Let’s just keep moving.” Twilight states,
  146. >Rounding a wide corner, the six ponies come across an astounding sight.
  147. >The cave expands into a large semicircular hollow. Artificial light peeks through cracks in a structure carved out of the cave wall, and a depression next to it holds the creature’s craft.
  148. >”Whoa... this place is incredible...” Twilight trails off,
  149. >”Although I don’t care for the environment, whatever was done here is truly remarkable.” Rarity claims with awe,
  150. >”See, Fluttershy? No dragons here!” Pinkie reassuringly states,
  151. >”No, I... I suppose not...” Fluttershy claims,
  152. >The group slowly pads forward, approaching the structure.
  153. >A noise sounds, and the thin lines of light on the ground begin to expand into a fluorescent triangular, and then square, shape.
  154. >A large shadow blocks off more than half of the light. The six p0nies stare as their mark leaves the shadowed protection of its domicile.
  155. >Did it know they were coming? Or was this merely coincidence?
  156.
  157.
  158. >You knew it would only be a matter of time until the “Elements of Harmony” arrived.
  159. >Still, you didn’t expect that your timing would be so perfect.
  160. >The dim light thrown out by your dwelling, as well as the colored, purplish and blue light emanating from the horns of the two unicorns grants some faint illumination.
  161. >There are six p0nies arranged in a row in front of you.
  162. >You think you recognize three of them: the purple unicorn Twilight Sparkle, the yellow pegasus Fluttershy, and that obnoxious orange cowp0ny Applejack.
  163. >The other three are unfamiliar. One is a blue pegasus with a multihued mane, one is a pink p0ny with a wildly curled mane, and the final one is a majestic white unicorn with a finely combed purple mane, her horn emanating a bright blue light.
  164. >”Mister Anonymous? Is that you?” Twilight ventures,
  165. “Yes, Miss... Sparkle, was it? It is I.”
  166. >”Y’aint gonna try anythin’ strange, are ya? I’ve still got my rope!” Applejack blusters,
  167. “No, no Miss Applejack. I assure you, you have the wrong idea about my intentions.”
  168. >”Did you get lost again? I was pretty sure you were intending to meet Princess Celestia.” Twilight states.
  169. “Forgive me, Miss Sparkle. I was - no - I AM lost, yes. I’m afraid I don’t know who this ‘Princess Celestia’ is, though. Anyway, before I continue, would you all like to come inside? It’s much better lit and leagues more comfortable.”
  170. >The six ponies exchange a glance and a nod before heading your way.
  171.
  172.
  173. >You invite the p0nies to take a seat in your living room and offer them a light lunch.
  174. >Assuming that they are herbivorous creatures, you refrain from including meat in your own meal. A vegetarian stir-fry and a dessert of canned fruit is your decision.
  175. >”Wow, Anonymous! You’re a pretty good cook!” Pinkie Pie compliments,
  176. “Ah, thank you, Pinkie. I can’t remember the last time I’ve been complimented on my cooking.”
  177. >”Yeah, it isn’t bad at all. Back to business though, if you don’t mind. What are you, exactly? Why are you here? And why did you ask us to keep your existence a secret?” Twilight queries,
  178. >You sigh and take a moment to explain the events of the past few days to these peculiar p0nies. Naturally you leave out the whole ‘Discord and Chrysalis’ connection, as well as the reason they sought to bring you here.
  179. >”Oh my, you poor thing... Lost in a strange world, no connection to home...” Fluttershy murmurs,
  180. >”See, Applejack? He never said anything about probes and ponies are completely foreign to him.” Twilight states with authority,
  181. >”I s’pose you may - MAY - be right. I’m still gonna keep my eyes planted firmly on my own behind, thank ya very much.” Applejack says,
  182. >”Well, I kiiinda did tell princess Celestia that you might be on your way. Please understand that I am her student, and when a strange alien creature shows up I have an obligation to Equestria to warn her. I hope you won’t mind.” Twilight states somewhat shyly,
  183. >You ruminate on the potential ramifications of this. Twilight does seem to be friendly to you so it’s unlikely that you’re to be annihilated on arrival... Particularly if you bring them with you.
  184. “No, I don’t mind. It’s perfectly understandable, I likely would have done the same in your shoes. Er... you guys do have shoes, right? You know what I mean by that?”
  185. >”Um, maybe something closer to ‘the same in your hooves’, but I digress. I would highly suggest going to meet the princess. It’s a rather long journey from here to Canterlot though. I don’t suppose you’d be willing to take us with you in your vehicle?”
  186. >Twilight's suggestion strikes you. It did take you a little while in your SUV, and as far as you can recall it takes a little while before Earth’s innate magic resistance wears off and the changelings can do... whatever they did to eliminate the need for fuel.
  187. >That leaves the Stuka, which does not have nearly enough room to carry six p0nies.
  188. “Well, the vehicle you guys saw may not be the best for the job. It’s landbound and... Anyway, it should be much faster if we took my plane.”
  189. >”A plane? Was that the thing I saw you flying yesterday?” Rainbow asks,
  190. “So that was you, Rainbow?”
  191. >”Yeah, it was me. I’ve got to admit, that was pretty darn cool. It was you, though, right?”
  192. >”How did you get all this stuff here, anyway? And how did you manage to carve a home out of solid stone so quickly?”
  193. >Twilight's question takes you aback. What would be the best way to respond?
  194. “Ah, um, well, you see... I... I don’t know.”
  195. >God damn it you’re an idiot.
  196. >”Ya don’t know, huh? Why do I get the feelin’ you’re lying to us?” Applejack asks suspiciously,
  197. >”Applejack, please! Although I must admit I wonder where you got all these... things, perhaps an audience with the Princess may clarify things. You did seem to be terribly confused earlier, perhaps something happened that you don’t recall.” Twilight offers,
  198. “Hm. Perceptive of you. I was very, very confused. Still am, honestly. I can only hope this princess of yours can help.”
  199. >”Oh, Princess Celestia will be sure to help. She truly cares about every living thing in all of Equestria, and she’s so wise!” Fluttershy exclaims,
  200. >”Several thousand years of life will do that to you. I must thank you for the lunch, but we should probably be on our way.” Twilight responds.
  201. “Okay, there’s just one teensy little problem...”
  202.
  203. >”Oh Celestia, how amazing this is!” Rarity marvels,
  204. >As the freight elevator doors squeak open, the bright light of day cuts into the hangar, illuminating your Stuka rather brilliantly. The hangar is completely empty. Evidently the changelings previously present had left with Chrysalis.
  205. “We ought to be able to get to this Canterlot of yours with considerably more speed if we take this route.”
  206. >”Um, yeah... How, exactly, do you propose we all fit in there? If you have to sit up front that only leaves the one space in the back-” Twilight questions,
  207. >”Which, if none of you mind, I will take. I’d really rather not mess up my mane anymore than it already is. And I would very much like to converse with our new acquaintance, charming as he is.” Rarity shoots a glance at you as she speaks,
  208. >“Um, actually, I would kind of like t-” Fluttershy's voice is almost inaudible.
  209. >“Anyone? All right, if none of you really mind.” Evidently Fluttershy WAS inaudible.
  210. >You look around the hangar. Outside of a few spare parts and some drag ropes, there isn’t anything around that could be used as a glider or even be made into one.
  211. >Wait, drag ropes? You feel another idea coming on.
  212. >Time to make what will likely be yet another horrible decision.
  213. >”Hey Rainbow, would you mind flying up and finding out what direction Canterlot is in? I couldn’t really keep track of our bearings on the way here.” Twilight asks the cyan pegasus,
  214. >”Sure thing, be back in less than ten seconds!”
  215. >The blue pegasus jumps up and takes flight out of the hangar.
  216. “Alright, call me crazy but I think I might just have an idea.”
  217. >”Um, I hope this idea of yours doesn’t involve me flying. I don’t really like to fly.” Fluttershy whimpers,
  218. >What. A pegasus that’s afraid of heights or something? Doesn’t like to fly? That makes little sense to you.
  219. “Well, you don’t have to fly, yourself. I just kind of have to strap you on the plane here an-”
  220. >The ponies all gawk at you and shriek in unison: ”Strap on?!”
  221. “Unless any of you have any better ideas, I don’t see any other choice.”
  222. >Twilight looks at you with a grimace.
  223. >”Oh, there has to be something around here that might be better than that. Almost anything would be, I imagine.”
  224. >At about the same moment Rainbow comes bolting back into the hangar.
  225. >”It’s thataway.” She indicates a direction with a forehoof.
  226. “Alright, sweet. I don’t suppose you’d be willing to lead the way, y’know, so I don’t get lost again?”
  227. >”Pfft. No problem. Just try to keep up in that deathtrap of yours!”
  228. >Twilight returns from her cursory search of the hangar.
  229. >”I can’t believe I’m going to say this, but you’re right. There really is no other way.”
  230. “Well, like I said, there’s room for one of you i-”
  231. >”Already on top of it, darlings! I hope none of you mind, really.”
  232. >You turn your head towards the plane and see that Rarity has already clambered into the back seat, assuming a somewhat comfortable position.
  233. “Alright then. Let me just grab some of these ropes and...”
  234.
  235.
  236. >It took a little while, especially since the slope of the gull wings led to the uppermost p0ny sliding down a bit. With a little help you were able to cinch most of them on their backs tightly enough to ensure their safety.
  237. >”And you’re sure we won’t fall?” Fluttershy meekly asks,
  238. >”Not unless ya try to wriggle on out of it. I gotta say, Anon, you’re pretty handy with a rope.”
  239. >The compliment from the country p0ny seems to come out of nowhere.
  240. “Thanks, Applejack. Boy scouts, what can I say. Alright, everyone good? Rainbow, you ready?”
  241. >”I’m always ready, Anonymous. Keep your eyes on me and you can’t go wrong!”
  242. You climb onto the wing of the airframe, careful to avoid stepping on Applejack underfoot.
  243. “Alright, once I get in I’m going to close the cockpit. I probably won’t be able to hear you. Hey Rarity, do me a favor and keep an eye on the others, okay?”
  244. >”Of course I will. If anything goes wrong you’ll be the first to know.”
  245. >You clamber into the seat, close the cockpit, and start the propeller.
  246. >Rainbow is slightly ahead of you as the plane begins moving forward.
  247. >The p0nies on the wings impact the amount of lift generated, most likely by a combination of added weight and reduced clear wing surface.
  248. >The plane trundles along the stone-cut runway, gaining speed but not enough to take off.
  249. >Rainbow is slightly ahead of you still, occasionally turning her head and eying you with a look of concern.
  250. >Only a dozen yards left to go. The end of the runway looms ahead of you, a steep drop into the jagged hills below only seconds away.
